Prior to a television landscape that favors realism over idyllic life, where major characters face the risk of "being killed off," and daily life is portrayed somewhat accurately, thirtysomething did all that and more. The show that was an early experiment that quickly became a phenomenon, rewriting the rules for dramatic series in more ways than one. Helmed by creators Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz, thirtysomething not only drew viewers into the lives of its characters and tested the boundaries of conventional storytelling, it thrived with a multi-hyphenate cast, many of whom stepped into the role of director during the series run -- then stayed there for the next 30 years. Capturing the coveted 18-34 age demographic is no easy task for programmers, advertisers and creators. Millennials had instant messenger, Gen Z has Instagram; Millennials have DVRs, Gen Z consumes content exclusively on their phone. Millennials seek to be a part of the group while Gen Z seek uniqueness in everything, including the television they watch and the brands they buy. From the opening moments of CBS’ prestige courtroom procedural The Good Wife, it was clear that Robert & Michelle King had arrived on network TV ready to jolt viewers awake with razor-sharp dissections of political, judicial, and media institutions. For seven 22-episode seasons, the series’ acclaimed writing, production, and performances pushed the boundaries of broadcast expectations, and their next endeavor -- sing-songy, aliens-invade-Capitol-Hill dramedy Braindead — only further cemented the Kings as one of TV’s most inventive and prescient writing duos (giving new extraterrestrial life to ‘80s earworm ‘You Might Think’ in the process). Now, at the conclusion of Season 2 of the CBS All Access flagship drama The Good Fight (with a Showtime series on the way), listen to these writers/executive producer/showrunners for a discussion on what this current moment in news/politics means for creatives, and what makes their singular brand of political observation and dark humor more timely than ever.Episode Guests: Robert King, Michelle KingModerator: Debra Birnbaum (Variety)ATX Season 8 | June 6-9, 2019 | atxfestival.comVisit atvxp.com for more TV Camp goodness and audio from ATX!-----Get 20% off your new favorite pair of jeans @ DSTLD.com with promo code: TVCAMPFIRE

I mean, you have to hear the text messages these three sent to one another during the game. Toby proposes going to church seasonally and treats us to another rant towards church pastors. We talk about being adopted, her conservative upbringing and times at Hillsong college. We also talk about acting a fool when there’s open bar. We discover why Toby was crying cow tears while cutting the grass. And we're pretty sure if anybody from our show stops being a Christian, it will be pastor Joey.
