Little Children (2006), starring Kate Winslet, Patrick Wilson, Jennifer Connelly, and Noah Emmerich, is a drama/romance/thriller (?) following an unhappy pair of suburbanites engaging in an affair while the community reacts to a recently released felon. While we felt this melancholy plot plodded along and went down too many side avenues to be a big hit - you should still tune in to hear our full review and how Little Children ranks out of all 46 Kate movies!WebsiteInstagramMerch Support the show

Another ANNIVERSARY MONTH episode coming your way today as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic Jim Carrey blockbuster that is The Truman Show! Is this the first movie we've ever done where we can't find any flaws? How angry are we after all these years that Jim Carrey not only didn't win the Oscar for best actor but didn't even get nominated? Is this the most accurate movie in predicting the future ever made? Which random characters are we in love with in this movie? How much was Laura Linney robbed of an Oscar nomination for this movie as well? Could we have seen Dennis Hopper as Christof in this film instead of Ed Harris? Why are we happy to talk about Noah Emmerich and Peter Krause? And seriously how epic is this movie? It's so good you need to get into it and as always remember in case we don't see you, good afternoon good evening and goodnight! ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Krista and Jenny share this week's What & Why, The Good Nurse. Curious what else the Queue team is watching? Head over to Netflix and search Queue's Queue for more recommendations!
We start this week by reviewing Tobias Lindholm's true crime drama THE GOOD NURSE (1:54), about an ER nurse (Jessica Chastain) who discovers that her charming colleague (Eddie Redmayne) is secretly murdering their patients. The film misses some areas it could dig deeper into this real-life tragedy, but it's really well-acted and has a strong ensemble. Next, we cover Harry Bradbeer's ENOLA HOLMES 2 (22:17), a plainly named sequel that provides another engaging adventure for Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown). It's a delightful romp that's still a lot of fun even if it's not quite as brisk as the first film. And in this week's Patreon exclusive audio, we talk about the winner of our Noirvember poll, Jane Campion's 2003 film IN THE CUT, starring Meg Ryan and Mark Ruffalo! It's no surprise that Dark Winds received a season two renewal Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon, Jessica Matten, and Noah Emmerich visited the Silence on Set podcast to talk about the importance of having a Native-led show, why the storytelling is next level, and what we can expect for their characters for the season ahead. Host: Monica Gleberman Editor: Ashley Pelletier Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Bio: Set in 1971 on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley, Dark Winds follows Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn of the Tribal Police as he is besieged by a series of seemingly unrelated crimes. The closer he digs to the truth, the more he exposes the wounds of his past.
Pappy, Stevie, Josh, Korey, and Brett review the Jim Carrey classic: The Truman Show! He doesn't know it, but everything in Truman Burbank's (Jim Carrey) life is part of a massive TV set. Executive producer Christof (Ed Harris) orchestrates "The Truman Show," a live broadcast of Truman's every move captured by hidden cameras. Cristof tries to control Truman's mind, even removing his true love, Sylvia (Natascha McElhone), from the show and replacing her with Meryl (Laura Linney). As Truman gradually discovers the truth, however, he must decide whether to act on it. The Truman Show (1998) has been hailed as a prescient treatise on reality television - but it's so much more than that.A milestone in the career of Jim Carrey, the film has a lot to say about capitalism, consumerism, and the culpability we all have in the broad systems of exploitation that define our age.Plus, there are quite a few laughs in there, too!The film stars Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, a man who grew up living an ordinary life that—unbeknownst to him—takes place on a large set populated by actors for a television show about him. Additional roles are performed by Laura Linney, Noah Emmerich, Natascha McElhone, Holland Taylor, Ed Harris, Paul Giamatti. (via Wikipedia.)***If you can, please support the show on Patreon! Sound designers Ben Meechan and Luke Gentry from Sona return to Flixwatcher remotely to review Ben’s choice Super 8. Super 8 is a 2011 alien invasion film directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg. It stars Joel Courtney and Elle Fanning in the main child roles and Kyle Chandler, Noah Emmerich and Ron Eldard in the main adult roles. The premise of Super 8 is that while making a low budget zombie film for a competition a group of children witness a train crash. In the aftermath a series of strange events happen in their town - dogs running away and large power outings - leading to the military being involved and eventually an alien appears. Super 8 is the ultimate 80s nostalgia movie - it steals/homages from all the best 80s films like E.T, The Goonies and Stand By Me and in turn is a blueprint for Stranger Things and this is part of its downfall in that none of Super 8 feels remotely original or exciting. There are also at least three different narratives running through it, none explored with any great care or detail, the emotional moments don’t hit the mark and an ending that is spectacularly underwhelming. Scores [supsystic-tables id=206] Coming in at nearly two hours long it is far too long and unfocused to be as enjoyable as it should be - the long run time leads to a low repeat viewing score and Super 8 manages to score 3.23 overall. This week we are joined by actor and director Ellie Cooper and we're discussing the one and only 'The Truman Show'The Truman Show is a 1998 American psychological science fiction comedy-drama film directed by Peter Weir, produced by Scott Rudin, Andrew Niccol, Edward S. Feldman, and Adam Schroeder, and written by Niccol. The film stars Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, a man who grew up living an ordinary life that—unbeknownst to him—takes place on a large set populated by actors for a television show about him. Eventually, he discovers the truth and decides to escape. Additional roles are performed by Laura Linney, Noah Emmerich, Natascha McElhone, Holland Taylor, Ed Harris, Paul Giamatti and Brian Delate. This episode starts with a heated debate between three different ideas - but we settle on something very fun.If you enjoyed the episode then please share it around, and let us know what you thought! Screenwriter Raul Inglis (AMERICAN HEIST w/Adrien Brody, SUDDENLY w/Ray Liotta) joins the show to discuss James Mangold's cop drama, COP LAND, featuring a cast so absurdly stacked it's tough to write all their names in this summary - Sylvester Stallone, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Robert DeNiro, Peter Berg, John Spencer, Malik Yoba, Janeane Garafolo, Noah Emmerich, Frank Vincent, Edie Falco, Annabella Sciorra and Michael Rapaport. As he's done at various points throughout his career, Stallone reminds us of what a true top-notch actor he can be when given the right material. Mangold affirms his status as one of our best living filmmakers. This is a great movie, period, and it's greatness has only increased in the years since it was released. --- This episode is sponsored by · Charity Promotion: HeadCount: The goal of this initiative is to increase voter registration and encourage your listeners to get the vote out during the 2020 General Election this November. https://www.headcount.org/ Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dan-benamor/support

BLOODY EPISODE 90 TRAILER PARK ‘Space Force’ (official teaser trailer’) - From the mind of Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks & Rec, King of the Hill) comes this much more ‘Greg Daniels’ feeling show, Space Force! The story is loosely based on Donald Trump's brilliant idea to split the Air Force into a new division that goes beyond the air, to space! So what better to do than mock it in a new hilarious comedy! With a stacked cast including Steve Carell, Noah Emmerich, John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Jimmy O Yang and an incredibly old Fred Willard, this has major comedic potential! Shuffling onto Netflix like a Steve Carell shuffling to a Rupert Holmes classic, May 29th. ‘Think like a Dog’ - Get ready to sniff some butts and eat your own vomit because it’s time for ‘Think Like a Dog’! Here comes the family film no one asked for, as a young genius boy experimenting with reading minds, develops the technology to read his dogs thoughts! But with great tech comes great enemies trying to steal said tech with any means possible! Enter Kunal Nayyar as the villain! (Good to see his post Big Bang career is going well!) Also starring Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel as aging parents far from their transformers days. As the Tagline says, ‘Anything is Paw-sible’! Jumping into on demand rental (not surprisingly) like a dog from a window, June 9th. ‘The King of Staten Island’ - From Director Judd Apatow comes this semi-autobiographical comedy about Pete Davidson and his life. When his fire fighting father passes away during the events of September 11, Pete must cope with growing up and becoming a man without him. From his younger sister going to college and his mum dating another fireman, the slacker with dreams of tattooing must learn how to love his life accepting that he may have no potential. With an all star cast including Marisa Tomei, Steve Buscemi, Bill Burr and hey, Dylan’s favourite Jimmy Tatro, the laughs seemingly will come hand in hand with the drama and hopefully provide a good time! Dropping onto on demand like an eight foot tall guy into an above ground pool, 12th of June. ‘Shirley’ - 2c3pod Hitlist stalwart Elizabeth Moth is at it again! This time in a chilling dramatic, suspenseful role as the titular character ‘Shirley’. She stars as a novelist looking for her next inspiration which she finds in a young couple who come to stay at their place for a stint. While there, the young couple, most notably the female, discover the mind games and chilling realization that they are the influence for the next novella. But how will this story end? Will they come to learn that their ending has already been written?! A film festival favourite which has earned distribution for later in the year! So smacking into theaters like fingers on a typewriter, TBD. ‘Becky’ - Let's continue this trailer park train of films with singular female names as the title shall we?! Here we find a new horror/thriller by the name of ‘Becky’! The story of young girl and her father Jeff (the perfect name for any character Joel McHale plays #6seasonsandamovie), who along with Jeff’s girlfriend head to a cabin in the woods for a relaxing weekend. But to their shock, 4 prison inmates have escaped and a re looking for a key. But not just any key, a Nazi key. Oh, did I not mention the escapees are nazis?! Oh, did I not mention Kevin Fucking James is the lead Nazi?! Yup, you heard that right and I’ll tell you what, it looks incredibly fun and not a single bit comedic! Shock and or Awe! Striking onto on demand like a nailed board into a nazis skull, June 5th! ‘Babyteeth’ - Well well well, look what we have here! An Australian drama. An Australian drama with potential? Here we have Babyteeth, the feature film directorial debutt from Shannon Murphy sees the story of young girl who is very sick named Milla, who falls head over heals in love with a slightly older boy named Moses. Unfortunately for Milla’s parents, Moses happens to be a small time drug dealer and fully sick mad cunt! (AKA, a bogan, lol). Can their two very different worlds co-exist or will the Centrelink que be too much for everyone to handle? Ripping onto on demand like a wig from a cancer patient, June 19th. ‘Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo’ - we just had Potentially an Australian film we may want to witness and now a documentary we definitely want to see? Looks like it with Inmate #1! This documentary is all about the incredible rise of Danny Trejo as it follows his rough beginnings all the way to the highest points of his career. From murder to drug addiction to jail time to the big screen, this story deserves to be told and looks like it could be as captivating as any fictional story man could tell. Dying to get onto screens like Danny dying in almost all of his films, later this year. @2c3pod Aussie Pop Culture Podcast ~ 2 Episodes every Wednesday and Friday + YOUTUBE bonus content. On this episode of Kickin' & Streamin' Podcast, Graham & Jocelyn discuss Netflix Original miniseries The Spy, based on real events surrounding the brief career of Eliyahu Cohen, an Israeli spy in Syria starring Sacha Baron Cohen. They begin by talking about the distinct "French movie" kind of filter used in the series and how it evoked a stylistic accuracy to the time period both in the camera work and the visuals. Jocelyn & Graham discuss the pleasant surprise of seeing Sacha Baron Cohen playing a serious role and his impeccable acting skills playing a very believable spy. The discussion continued as we wondered about the toll it must take on real life spies and their families. Jocelyn & Graham discussed the cast, among them Noah Emmerich and Alona Tal who are the most recognizable faces. Jocelyn points out how she noticed Noah Emmerich seem to drop the accent along the way and from time to time, Graham noticed the same, but thought he was nitpicking and didn't think anyone else would have noticed until Jocelyn mentioned it. Jocelyn and Graham had high praises for Hadar Ratzon, the actress who played the role of Nadia Cohen, the wife of Eli Cohen, and they even wondered what real life Nadia (who is alive) thought of the actress's portrayal of her. The two co-hosts continued down the list of the remaining lesser know actors and they respective performance. The Spy is on Netflix, has six episodes of approximately 55 minutes each. It's week 3 of our 'Winter Olympics Month' and it's time to get to the one film with a happy ending as we look at the 2004 classic Miracle! Just why is this movie more of a documentary than a movie? How great is Kurt Russell and why does he deserve more love? Why is the only guy we remember in this film Tag from Friends? Why should Noah Emmerich be in more things? Why does Ben not being able to climb and kick a ball matter in this film? Do we care about Patricia Clarkson in this movie, despite the fact she is one of only 3 females to get screentime? Why are the media people so evil again? How did Disney get around mentioning anal sex? How did John Williams write his famous Olympic theme 4 years earlier than he actually did? How does the Bulgarian women's hockey team become a thing in this episode? How accurate is this movie compared to The Mighty Ducks trilogy? And why is Dracula the coach of the Soviet Union? It's all in the skill of clicking download and listening to another entertaining episode you'll tell your grandkids about!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
The Truman Show is the 1998 “satirical science fiction film*” (apparently not a drama) that we recast this week. This movie centers around an absolutely perfect performance by Jim Carey, but Ed Harris, Noah Emmerich and Laura Linney all chip in to create an amazing fantasy world that is somehow completely believable at the same time.

A circus parade is traveling down Main Street in a small town. At the back is an old man whose job it is to shovel the manure from all the circus animals into a big bag slung over his shoulder. A passer-by asks him how long he's been doing the job and how much he gets paid, to which he replies 50 years and $250 a week. "Well why on earth don't you stop doing it and find a better job instead?" asks the passer-by. The old man replies, "What, and give up show business?" The great Gordon Hunt, a wonderful acting teacher and casting director, encouraged his students to think of every audition as a chance to act on a Tuesday. There are times when I am able to do that and times when it feels like an exercise in futility but his words have always stayed with me. And even though more often than not the audition doesn't turn into the job, when I looked at the alternative of another career - perhaps one with more emotional and financial stability - my answer would be, "What, and give up show business?!" So how do we actors do it? How do we leave the audition room feeling humiliated and get up the next day and do it again? Listen to famous actors like Molly Ringwald, Matthew Broderick, Dan Folger, Connie Schulman, Bryan Greenberg, Aasif Mandvi, John Slattery, Roger Bart, Noah Emmerich and Mary Stuart Masterson share hilarious and inspiring stories from the audition trenches.
