When the world is falling apart the way we usually respond (complaining, blaming, fighting) usually only creates more problems. Maybe it’s time to try something else. Ken is a Financial Planner with Ronald Blue Trust and builds relationships and services based on biblical principles through his work! Ken talks with Mike about leaving a secure job and moving into a different direction in his life. This takes a good amount of courage and fortitude but God should give you that courage. God needs to be your backbone when you want to make a change in your life that may affect every aspect of your relationships. How has God spoken to you lately in ministering to those around you? Do you see opportunities that previously were not there? Those doors that are now open could be something special just waiting for you to take advantage and it is our job to make sure God is with us when we walk through them! Give it to God and let him take control.      Making a Difference with Your Faith   In Ken's example, his company directly supports filling the great commission of Christians. The impact we have every day is really to assist in making more Christians. So where does the "work" really begin? For Ken, it is all about helping people understand what they have and where they can be more targeted in their efforts with their money. What about you? Where does your work begin? Is it when you are servicing a client's needs? Is it helping a client understand how they can be better with their business? Do you sell a product that helps your clients do more? These are all aspects of every work we probably see and now is the time to start pondering on where God can be injected to build a better life for yourself and those you serve. If you are wondering how to do this, take the next Marketplace Mission Trip!

It could be work, sports, school, and even home-life where we become distracted from witnessing God in our lives and the lives of the people connected to us. Yet, if we pay attention, opportunities are abundant. Brian discusses this with Mike, specifically through his career in real estate. So where has God put you to witness? Managing to open up a pathway and allow God to act in your work is difficult at times and sometimes you let him work directly or indirectly but the key is letting it happen. Do you recognize those opportunities? Can you count them on one hand, or maybe its two hands? I think you will be surprised by how many chances there are once we start counting. Everyone is working as a service and that goes for being a Christ-Follower as well so pay attention and see just how much service you can provide through God on any given day! Let us know the count in the comments!     God Has Called You Uniquely    Brian discusses his book "Uniquely Called: Live Out Your Faith In The Marketplace". You have been uniquely called by God to serve him and his work in your life. Do you know what that unique situation is? Some of us are still trying to figure that out and a read of Brian's book will help you do just that! Sometimes we just need a fresh lens, a fresh outlook, and a new way of thinking to see true joy. That joy helps us bring others closer to Jesus, one step at a time. We are never stagnant in life and growing and learning will always play a big role in our development. How far along are you in the process? How deep, introspectively, do you go with yourself? The deeper you reach, the more you bring out!    Interview Quote   " With all of the stuff that has happened in our world.. it is going to be really good to redefine some things - to see the restoration, the redemption and the reconciliation happen from the lord as he intervenes"     Connect with Brian   Brian's LinkedIn  Brian's Facebook eXp Realty Book Link - Uniquely Called: Live Out Your Faith In The Marketplace Re-Defining Real Estate Show Connect With Follower Of One Join us over in our Online Community, get social with us; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and subscribe to our YouTube channel. Shaquel is a current Life Coach as the CEO and Founder of God's Greatness Organization (Also has a podcast of the same name), and Bobby is the owner of PenStruck where he is a coaching consultant with fellow Entrepreneurs and Start-ups. Please give thanks for their service and welcome them to our community!    Episode Breakdown 1:10 - Meet Shaquel and Bobby 3:30 - Shaquel's and Bobby's Story to Christ 7:15 - How Bobby and Shaquel Met 8:35 - Faith and Entrepreneurship (Shaquel) 12:05 - Bobby's Faith at Work and Entrepreneurship  18:20 - Living Faith in the Military  26:40 - How The Follower of One Community can pray for Bobby and Shaquel (Take mental notes!) 30:00 - Prayer with Bobby and Shaquel   Being Stuck   Life does not seem to always move forward. We have setbacks, leaps, and even stationary moments. Being stuck is a common problem in life but it doesn't have to last forever. Bobby speaks on this directly through a story he tells on his music career and how it led him to PenStruck (8:35 and 12:05 in the Episode). Bobby has learned that feeling like you are standing idle is not about the gift that God gave you but more importantly how you deploy and use those gifts in the world. What is your gift? Is the tools at your disposal not getting you anywhere closer to happiness with God? If not, it might be a good time to re-evaluate and come up with a better strategy. Are you meeting the right people that can help further your goal? Do you know when to stop chasing a dream that is moving you away from God? These are all important questions to ask yourself, and depending on the answers, you can assess your situation and come up with a better plan! Let us know in the comments!    Be Yourself   Knowing who you are is probably one of the hardest things we learn in life. It takes years and years of practice and determination to decide who we want to be, who we are, and how to strive to achieve the latter. Shaquel shares an important story with Mike on how he enables his faith in the military. He believes knowing yourself is one of the most important tools you can use with everyone around you. But it isn't easy and comes with trials and tribulations. How much do you know yourself? Are you okay with that amount of knowledge you have? Have you reconciled your flaws and plan to make them better? When you can get your faith to relate to you, you can then relate yourself to others around you in a more impactful way. Afterward, it's all about focus and determination in the face of adversity and differences. Strive to be more understanding and take the cracked doors and opportunities when they present themselves to show others what you are all about!   Interview Quote   "Be Yourself.. Being myself allowed me to impact more people" - "I try to find ways to open that door (Conversation about faith).. not force it on them but introduce them to my faith"   Connect with Bobby PenStruck Bobby Jackson Facebook   Connect with Shaquel Shaquel Polacek LinkedIn God's Greatness Organization  God's Greatness Show (Podcast) Shaquel Life Coaching Connect With Follower Of One Join us over in our Online Community, get social with us; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and subscribe to our YouTube channel. It takes time and attention to build upon leadership skills. However, we want leadership skills that are rooted in our biblical teachings. These lessons are imperative to both how you live through faith, and how you inspire others to build relationships. Claudio talks about this with Mike while giving examples of why he was inspired to take a job after retirement with The Wellspring Foundation. His inspiration served as a vessel for engaging and changing the lives of the people in Rwanda who needed it most. What type of lessons have you learned over the years that can apply to how you lead in your workplace? Are those lessons bringing you and your coworkers closer to Jesus with every action?     Living Differently Through Technology   Technology has been in a boom period for a long time now. It seems every day we learn of something new that makes it easier to stay connected. Yet, we don't want that to become stale. We as Christ-followers need to be molding to our changing environment and it is now more evident with a pandemic at hand. Claudio talks about how he is still able to bring extreme value to people in the country of Africa via Zoom or Skype and it is all because of technology. So how do we make our experience different? How can we ensure that although we are interacting across the globe, we still bring value to the person on the other end of the computer? Stick with the basics. Make time for the Bible and lessons. Make time for empathy and make sure that each opportunity you have to connect is a chance to build God's kingdom!   Interview Quote   "People from all over the world can get together and share voices and help each other... my passion is to bring these African voices to the forefront and make everyone aware of what they are doing"   Connect with Claudio The Wellspring Foundation for Education The Wellspring Foundation for Education LinkedIn   Connect With Follower Of One Join us over in our Online Community, get social with us; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and subscribe to our YouTube channel. Anne talks to Mike about Blessed by Networking and how through the network itself, it has inspired change in the way these Christians live their faith beyond Sunday. Yet the question remains - How are we different? How can we build an aura around us that makes people want to know more about us? To stand out, you have to bring something to the table that helps others around you recognize that this conversation, this interaction, this project, this weekend, and this story is different when you are around. We want to be the same too. So, what does that mean? It means that while we want to be different, we also want to lead by example and have others in their walk with Christ act differently as well. Through a group effort, we all are unique but have the same goal. In conclusion, be different but the same!      Stay Connected to Learn and Know   Networking is what Anne Small does extremely well. In her discussion with Mike, Anne talks about how you have to be purposeful when networking yourself and your business with others. Ask yourself, why do I want to connect with this person/team? What are my goals by connecting and building this relationship? We learn that networking can become a connection that enables you to learn new things every day. If you want to be better in your job, you speak to like-minded people who are building something better than what you have, right? That is the goal but it doesn't stop with learning new information. You also want to be in the know! Know what your relationships are doing on a daily, weekly, or even monthly business so you can reflect that energy to your microclimate which is your daily life. Don't forget, we are not perfect so there will be mistakes. How are you handling your obstacles that come your way? This is more important than anything and shows your character as both a Christian and a business professional. Get after it!   Interview Quote:   "The Church is the People, it is not a building. We are finding that out right now, more than ever... Patti Ann is a former Real Estate investor, Holistic Health Coach, and Entrepreneur through Project Feed it Forward. Project Feed it Forward partners with Isagenix to love and serve others all while glorifying God along the way. Please welcome Patti Ann to our Community!   Episode Breakdown   1:00 - Meet Patti Ann Ridgeway 2:20 - Patti Ann's Story 6:25 - People and Stories Through Project Feed it Forward 8:15 - How Patti Ann First Came to Christ 11:05 - Project Feed it Forward Breakdown 15:40 - Experiencing Joy through Miracle of Multiplication  20:45 - Patti Ann's Advice for Faith in the Workplace 24:00 - Patti Ann and The Marketplace Mission Trip 27:35 - Being a Link in the Chain 29:05 - Connect with Patti Ann   Start Thinking About Others   We are all made in the image of God, but we fall short and that is what it means to be human. We start introspectively with our faith. What does it mean to believe in God? How do we act appropriately? What kinds of things are abundantly clear to us through his teachings? Then, we apply those lessons into our lives but it doesn't stop there! Mike and Patti Ann discuss what it is like to go beyond ourselves when glorifying God. Patti Ann is doing so through her business Project Feed it Forward, and I highly recommend that you check out how she embodies God through her work. At some point, it becomes less about you and more about how you inspire change and community based on God's word. So, when is the last time you paid it forward? What tools do you use to do so? Mike has a great example (detailed in the podcast) with a Subway gift card. Let us know in the comments what compels you to think of others and what compels you to act. We would love to learn from you!     God Opens Doors   Opportunities are abundant, even in a pandemic world. You just have to look a little harder at your situation. Luckily, if you have had any experience in following God's plan or seeing God open doors for you, you might be well aware that they are not as obvious as they seem in hindsight. Patti Ann talks about how she came to be with Project Feed it Forward and what it took to follow God's plan and not her plan. She also gives great advice during her time with Mike that explains what it was like for her to accept what God was putting on her doorstep. If you are struggling to know God's plan for you we have some questions to ask - What are your God-given talents? How can you use those gifts to give back to your community? What are you looking for in life? Does this match up with what God has laid before you? The end goal is to be happy, healthy, and putting God first above all else. Be persistent in this endeavor. You don't just have one chance to do it right, God is forgiving and he does that for a reason.     Interview Quote:   "We get to a point in life where it is not about us anymore... What can we do? How can we impact people? How can we leave a legacy for our children?"   Connect with Patti Ann Patti Ann's LinkedIn Project Feed it Forward Project Feed it Forward Facebook     Connect With Follower Of One   Join us over in our Online Community, get social with us; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and subscribe to our YouTube channel. What type of spiritual needs do you have? Keith talks with Mike about The Mission through First Baptist Church Owasso, which provides services to the needy but more importantly provides spiritual resources to those in a better environment. Most of the time we want to help people based on the few common things, however, your spiritual being is just as important. When is the last time you "fed" your spirit? What does replenishing your spirit look like for you? Is it praying consistently? How about doing something only for the benefit of someone else? Comment below with your favorite way to feed the soul!       Building Relationships with Lost People   What type of relationships are you a part of? Do all of your friends believe in God? Sometimes, especially as we get older, we tend to have a set group of friends and stick with that group. Never expanding, or moving forward. It is a very special thing and should be cherished but Keith talks about how there are some very important reasons to make an extra effort in building relationships with non-believers. Why? Because it builds understanding. It structures new ways to think about things and gives you the opportunity to have a genuine, judgment-free, friendship with someone who may need your help getting on the path to God. Don't take your neighbor for granted. Even if they are opposed to your beliefs, that doesn't mean you can't learn from them and in turn, they learn from you! Do you have any experience with this? Let us know so we can share in our community!     Quote: "The way we share the gospel is not by just opening the doors anymore ... there needs to be a different passion, and I love the fact that we ask people to go on a mission trip at work"       Connect with Keith Keith's LInkedIn First Baptist Church Owasso theMission Ministry Page       Connect With Follower Of One   Join us over in our Online Community, get social with us; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and subscribe to our YouTube channel. If you are reading this and have not yet listened to Bob's story, go do so now! As Mike talks to Bob, the most prevalent theme is Change through Jesus. What does it mean to let "Jesus take the wheel"? I think it is very different for everyone. How much are you giving up? How much is Jesus taking care of the unknown? It is all and only part, it is a sum and a whole. When Jesus is at the Helm, anything and everything can happen for you and others. Do you have any stories of when you finally let Jesus be in charge? Comment below and tag us in your stories on social media! We want to know and share those with the world. These stories are important, and it all leads to understanding.     Understanding One Another   Empathy. Probably one of the hardest human traits, unless you are gifted by God with this talent! Coming to understand one another is essential to a combined successful human existence. Why is understanding so hard? It is hard because we typically don't listen. If we listen, we don't listen long enough. Bob talks about how to start acting during a world that is in crisis, and the first step is trying to understand the people around you. When was the last time you digested a person's story so well, you were able to regurgitate their story and they agreed with what you said back to them? You might find this as one of the hardest things to do when you try! I personally have found this to be very useful in past years and more importantly in recent months. Can you restate someone's point of view in your own words and have them agree? The reason this seems to be a big obstacle is that sometimes, we are not sure what is stopping us from sharing our story in the first place. So we want to ask you, What is stopping you? Ranette shares some experiences she has from her work with Your Faith Journey and some common themes are clear. Is it knowing the Bible verses? Knowing the teachings within the Bible? Do you know what it means for others when you tell your story? The most important thing to focus on is understanding what it means for YOU first. You are the expert of your own life and no-one can tell you differently. Tell us your thoughts in the comments! What are some things holding you back at the moment?     Small Steps   We have covered action items for faith at work in our interviews and more importantly, an in-depth version in our Marketplace Mission Trip. But how do we start the process? What if what I want to do is too big to take on? It all starts with small steps. You can't solve all the problems in your world but you can make a difference. You can pray, live your faith daily, express intent, and make an impact but first, you have to understand your goal and circumstances. Mike speaks on this with Ranette and it is important to note this: If you focus on the things you can't do, you become paralyzed. Focus on the things you can do, and one hundred percent of that time, they all start with small steps. It is just like building a business or a network of contacts, take it one step at a time!   Connect with Ranette Ranette's Linkedin Your Faith Journey   Connect With Follower Of One   Join us over in our Online Community, get social with us; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and subscribe to our YouTube channel. The main understanding is that what we believe is true. Apologetics stems from this oversight. At its core, apologetics is being reasoned and understanding or arguments against your belief. With Christianity, it is particularly important in the times we live. Mark discusses the need behind apologetics in his interview with Mike. How deep do you know your faith? Apologetics is not just about believing in something but knowing "why" you believe in what you believe. This is an important step in talking through your faith because it prepares you for arguments and probing questions about your belief system. Do you know why you believe in God? Do you know why its true God is in the world? We encourage you to take an assessment or learn more about lessons that can give you insight into this. It will help with integrating faith at work as well. Let us know in the comments!      Crisis Happens on Any Day   The world is different than it was 8 months ago. It is always changing but not at this rapid a pace. One of the important things that Mark talks about is the fact that Crisis happens on any day at any time. How are you prepared for a crisis? Know that the answers don't always come on Sundays. Just like our lessons, we learn from the Marketplace Mission Trip, our beliefs don't start and end on Sundays. So, what type of obstacles are keeping you from being prepared? If something happens, where do you turn? Vulnerability is among the top reasons and ironically it is one of the most important reasons to take action with your faith. Steven and Mike discuss how when we are vulnerable and use that vulnerability to open honest communication between God and our Coworkers, life becomes better. You have to be vulnerable to let God into your life. Have you chosen to leave everything up to God? There are only so many things we can control, but exponentially more things we can't control. Being vulnerable is not a weakness but a strength with God. Use this strength to change the lives around you for the better!   Bringing in the Light   During the conversation with Mike, Steven shows one of the key things that McGhee Productivity Solutions uses to start off meetings of any kind. It is called "Bringing in the Light". They use this term as a metaphor for using your energy and thoughts to build a better reception of information, ideas and collaboration just before a meeting. Steven talks about how this is different for every person. If you are a Christ-Follower, bringing in the light might be praying before a meeting or maybe it is just a quick meditation to get your mind ready for collaboration. Whatever the strategy is, what works best for you is the goal. How do you bring in the light before a meeting? How do you prepare yourself to build a better collaboration between your coworkers or employees? Take this time to think and build upon this!   Connect with Steven Steven's LinkedIn Steven's Youtube Channel Steven's Twitter McGhee Productivity Solutions Website   Connect With Follower Of One Join us over in our Online Community, get social with us; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and subscribe to our YouTube channel. In this week's episode of the Follower of One podcast, Mike speaks with Todd Miechiels. Todd is the founder and co-founder of both The 3:15 Project and StoryDrive respectively. The 3:15 Project empowers Christians to know and share their story while StoryDrive helps cultivate and produce stories that drive growth. Please welcome him to the podcast!   Episode Breakdown   1:05 - Meet Todd 1:40 - The 3:15 Project 7:00 - Recent Stories 9:35 - The Story Drive 13:20 - Upcoming Events for The 3:15 Project 15:55 - Tag Cloud 22:20 - How to Connect with Todd     The Power of Your Story   Everyone has a different story and place in this world. The power of your story is prevalent in Todd's company The3:15 project. When is the last time you told your story? How you came to Christ should not be boxed in to when you are baptized. Everyones story should act as a consistent reminder of what it is to be a Christian and the path we take to get there. There is always something to learn from your bothers and sisters in Christ.  What is holding you back from telling your story?   Social Change   The "social" change we are speaking of in this episode is social media. The "Tag Cloud" that Todd created was a visual representation of several Christians' words they used on their LinkedIn. The result showed that these Christians had no words that their faith was an integral part of the way they conducting themselves to the outside world. This isn't a good or bad thing but a very important question to ask. Why are we afraid to put our faith out in the world on social media? What could we do to be better at this?    Connect with Todd   Todd's LinkedIn Todd's Twitter The 3:15 Project StoryDrive   Connect With Follower Of One Join us over in our Online Community, get social with us; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and subscribe to our YouTube channel. David talks about how he came to work with Pure Flix and it has a lot of key insights on how to listen to God and what direction he is taking us (sometimes without our knowledge). One of the main goals for us is to be diligent in how we speak and listen to God on a daily basis. In the name Follower of One, we express that we follow one being for eternity!     Chaos is the Enemy   The world seems to be in chaos recently. There are a lot of political and environmental challenges that we face each day. In this episode with David, he talks about how chaos is our enemy. Have no fear! - God is with us and is the opposite of chaos. God is an agent of love and togetherness. How do we spread that love? Can we be an agent of love instead of chaos? Yes you can!
