Episode Overview:In this Leadership Matters episode of Laugh, Lend, & Eat, host Fobby Naghmi dives into leadership dynamics with three notable guests: Jeff Walton, Co-Founder and CEO of InGenius, Alex Kutsishin, Co-Founder and CEO of FUEL !nc, and Keith Canter, CEO of First Community Mortgage. The discussion focuses on the importance of transparency in leadership, fostering trust within teams, and how to navigate tough market conditions. The trio shares their personal experiences with team building, dealing with adversity, and the challenges leaders face in maintaining a culture of accountability and openness. Key Themes: Transparency and Trust: Keith discusses how open and honest communication is key to creating a foundation of trust within a leadership team and explains how the "red pen culture" helps maintain that. Accountability and Team Building: Jeff emphasizes the importance of personal accountability and how great leaders focus on setting clear standards for their teams while making sure they are put in a position to succeed. Developing Talent: Alex highlights the importance of developing talent by focusing on people's strengths rather than their weaknesses and ensuring that leaders help their teams grow rather than trying to force them into roles they aren't suited for. Quotes from the Episode: On Transparency and Trust:"Clarity is kindness, and the best thing we can do as leaders is tell someone the truth, even when it's hard. Being honest with your team builds trust and helps everyone move forward."—Keith Canter emphasizes the value of honest communication in creating trust within a team. On Accountability and Team Building:"As leaders, we have a responsibility to make the people we hire successful. If we don't provide the right environment for them to thrive, we're failing them and the company."—Jeff Walton explains the importance of accountability and putting employees in the best possible position to succeed. On Developing Talent:"Leadership is about developing talent—either up or out. Not everyone can thrive in every environment, and it's our job as leaders to help people find where they can be their best."—Alex Kutsishin shares his perspective on how leaders should focus on cultivating their teams' strengths. Data, Technology, and the Future of Lending: Jeff Walton on Leveraging Innovation in a Shrinking Market

Episode Overview:In this episode of Laugh, Lend, & Eat, we sit down with Jeff Walton, CEO of Ingenius, live from NAMMBA Connect '24 in Orlando. Jeff shares insights on the role of data in the mortgage industry, the challenges lenders face in today's market, and how technology is revolutionizing the way companies operate. With over 30 years of experience, Jeff discusses how data accuracy can make or break business decisions, the impact of AI on the lending space, and how Ingenius is helping lenders adapt and grow in an increasingly competitive environment. Key Themes: The Shrinking Market of Loan Officers: Jeff discusses the significant reduction in the number of loan officers over the past few years and how that has impacted the lending industry. The Importance of Data Accuracy: Jeff explains how data accuracy is vital to lenders' success, and how Ingenius ensures precise data by blending multiple sources to give companies an edge. AI and Technological Breakthroughs: Jeff talks about how AI is accelerating the development of technology, compressing timelines, and how the next few years could bring rapid change to the mortgage industry. Quotes from Jeff Walton's Insights: On the Shrinking Market of Loan Officers:"At the peak, we had around 182,000 loan officers, and now it's down to 95,000. It makes all the sense in the world, the pie shrinks and everything shrinks in half."Jeff explains how the reduction in loan officers has affected the lending market and why this shift is happening. On Data Accuracy:"Data is extremely messy. It comes from 3,200 different counties with varying processes and technologies. We take three sources of data and blend it with MLS and census data to make it much more accurate and granular."Jeff highlights the importance of data accuracy and how Ingenius creates reliable datasets that give companies a competitive advantage. On the Future of AI in Mortgage Lending:"I think we're on the precipice of major breakthroughs with AI. What took 10 years before could happen in the next two. It's compressing everything, making it faster and more affordable."Jeff discusses the potential for AI to revolutionize the mortgage industry by accelerating technological development. Call to Action:Follow Laugh, Lend, & Eat for more insightful conversations with industry leaders. Learn from Jeff Walton about how Ingenius is helping lenders use data and technology to navigate a shrinking market and capitalize on new opportunities. Computer-telephony integration (CTI) is the real game-changer, says this episode's guest, Denis Francoeur, Director of Product from Upland Software, and he explains why.   The contact center needs better connections between systems and people, Francoeur says, and CTI holds a fascinating place among IT assets. It has proved its worth over the years as an evolving technology, and the latest generation of tools, like InGenius from Upland, shows its relevance by serving as both a productivity tool for agents and as a vector for AI-driven insights, recommendations, call routing, and more. We discuss what trends in AI messaging have meant for positioning CTI, recent feedback Upland has had from Dynamics 365 customers and partners, and what users can do today to cut through the noise when deploying CTI in their organizations.   InGenius customers see an average of 50% uplift in agent call handling when integration D365 with their telephony system. Games from the Cellar

Join us as we put on our thinking caps and take on the Reiner Knizia classic, Ingenious. Ingenious, designed by Reiner Knizia, was first published by KOSMOS and Fantasy Flight Games in 2004. Ingenious was nominated for the Spiel des Jahres in 2004 and won a Golden Geek Award for Best Family Game in 2006. Episode Summary Discover the magic of Ingenious, the ultimate family strategy game, as we explore its abstract gameplay, colorful design, and exciting twists and turns. Designed by Reiner Knizia, this game is reminiscent of classics like Uno, Scrabble, and Qwirkle. Prepare to be enthralled as we share our personal experiences and clever strategies while discussing the unique scoring system and the pure joy of shouting "Ingenious!" when you achieve a full row. During our lively chat, the panel delves into the evolution of Ingenious as players take turns, capitalizing on points and finding themselves running out of space on the board. We recall cutthroat moments such as when Chris blocked a crucial tile placement, proving that Ingenious can be both fun and competitive. You won't want to miss our thoughts on how this game could be adapted for family play or cranked up a notch for more intense competition. Finally, we discuss why Ingenious is an excellent game to introduce to new players, thanks to its simple rules and lack of a theme, making it easy to understand and enjoy. Hear us rave about the colorful pieces and accessibility, sharing our thoughts on potential adaptations for different age groups. Give this episode a listen and find out why we wholeheartedly agree Ingenious… Ingenious!!! Chapters (0:01:00) - Ingenious (0:08:49) - Strategic Gameplay in Ingenius (0:13:14) - Adaptability of Ingenius (0:26:27) - A Fun and Accessible Game Chapter Summaries (0:01:00) - Ingenious (8 Minutes) The panel explores the game, Ingenious, from Reiner Kniziia. We discuss the game's abstract strategy style and how it works, how the pieces have bright colors and shapes, and how the goal is to match colors and shapes with something already on the board. We discuss how the game is like Uno, Scrabble, and Qwirkle, and when someone gets to eighteen in a particular color, they get to shout “Ingenious!” and take an extra turn. (0:08:49) - Strategic Gameplay in Ingenius (4 Minutes) We chat about our experience playing Ingenius and the strategies we used. We discuss how the game changes as people play, from exploring the board to capitalizing on points and running out of space. We also comment on the cutthroat nature of the game and how it felt to be undercut by Chris. (0:13:14) - Strategic Gameplay in a Simple Game (13 Minutes) We discuss how the game evolves as players take turns, how to take advantage of the area control aspect, and how to strategically place tiles to block other players. We also consider how the game could be adapted for a family setting, as well as how to play the game in a more competitive manner. We explore how the game's scoring system encourages players to be adaptive and not concentrate on a single color. (0:26:27) - A Fun and Accessible Game (2 Minutes) We discuss why Ingenius is a great game to introduce to people. We appreciate the lack of a theme which makes it easier to understand and the fact that there is an element of thought and strategy involved. We also express our appreciation for the colorful pieces and why Sam would consider purchasing it one day.  Show notes created with assistance from https://podium.page   / / / / / You can Listen to Us: Spotify || Apple Podcasts || Google Podcasts || YouTube You can Support Us: Patreon || Leave a Rating & Review wherever you listen. "LUKE 12 REFLECTION - Giving You the Kingdom" Kids Ministry Coffee Break 58: We are invited into the Reign of God to see everything through a different perspective & to live an entirely different way. First a true story: There was a remote village that was a closed society. This village, as the story goes, was in the rain forest in South America. They were close enough to civilization that they had local government money. They used this money to buy and trade and live in their village. One day, thieves came and stole most of the money from the village treasury. The people of the village spent time discerning what they should do in response. What they did was make their own money. They no longer used government-issued money. The reason was that they only did business with each other and no thief would come and steal something that was worthless beyond their borders. Ingenius! We wrestle with money in our lives. Our society is all about money. We use money language to talk about everything in life. We put great value on saving and spending time with loved ones. We invest energy into our calling. We all have to plan for retirement and other normal things. We are vested into the government-issued money of our day. And that's okay! The disciples were, too. What Jesus is inviting us into is something counter-cultural. The Kingdom of God is a new way to understand all of reality. We can gain, save, and give all the money we can and still participate fully in the Kingdom of God. But the way we do all of life will change when we accept the Kingdom life Jesus offers us here and now. The way I talk about the Kingdom of God is to refer to it as the Reign of God. The word of Kingdom is better understood as the Reign or Rule of God. When God is in charge of our lives in every way, we are living into the Kingdom. It's a different way to do everything and see everyone and even see ourselves. But…we can't have it both ways. We have to choose to let go of our whole life and our family traditions (and sometimes family values) and be willing to let people walk away from relationship with us because they are too committed to another Reign and Rule in their life. To be a disciple, we must choose the Kingdom over everything else. May this invitation bring you peace…because, when you live by the Reign of God's will and way, everything changes for the way of Life as Jesus Christ defines it. Is there any better way?? Message brought to you by Rev. Joseph Sanford of Sanford Curriculum (Student ministry resources available on The Sunday School Store written by he and Lauren Sanford). Music by The Muse Maker

He created the blueprint for the modern intrapreneur by founding Nestlé’s employee-driven innovation accelerator, inGenius. Across 108 countries, 63,000 Nestlé employees - nearly a quarter of the conglomerate’s total headcount - have generated 6,575 new ideas and launched 70 cutting-edge solutions that address some of the world’s biggest problems. Kevin is now CEO and founder of Ideateplus, an innovation consultancy that guides companies through the intrapreneurship journey, helping them to launch new products, increase staff engagement, boost revenues, improve customer service, and reduce costs and wastage. Here’s an article Kevin recently wrote for City A.M. on how intrapraneurship can help to foster a culture of creativity and innovation - Kevin joins me on the podcast to discuss how some of the best examples of innovation have come from within - products invented by employees within large organisations include the Post-it Note, Sony PlayStation, and McDonald’s Happy Meals. We also talk about why intrapreneurship can enable large companies to be more agile and launch new innovative products, and in turn fend off challenger startup competitors. I learn more about Ideateplus, including its Rapid Innovation Process and why, in the era of remote working, keeping staff engaged by encouraging them to contribute to internal innovation is more important than ever.
