This show features local Denver comedians in a space where they can say whatever they want, and we are not a success until we have someone lose their job at SNL. This week on the podcast we have two hilarious guests, Aj Finney and Mitch Jones. Evan opens the episode as a purple belt in Spanish and reads some prepared quotes before we dive briefly into the Beckitionary. Just while brainstorming, the group comes up with a few ways that flamethrowers could really change the game for both fireworks, as well as mass shootings. Mitch gives some movie recommendations, Aj explains to Evan that he definitely didn't earn his "Dead Wings", and that's when the genre of Juggalo Jam is born. After Evan tells his Tubing story where his honor was tested, The Jacuzzi Boys stop by to plug some dates and promote their French Onion Soup (they're all out of spoons). Mitch and Aj talk about their first CD's, then we do a news story about some evil soul suckers and play a game of Headliners fill in the Headlines. That leads to the creation of the greatest sandwich shop idea, and we force Dog the Alien Hunter out of retirement. In the Favorite Conspiracy segment, we get the bottom of Big Foot, Cryptid, Monster Truck, or BOTH. Mitch informs everyone to do their own research on Jay-Z's connections to DIA, we build a profile on the kind of person that would train monkeys to steal babies and watch a video of a Poptart that doesn't believe in gravity. That inspires a recent Poptart story from Evan and Dylan stops us from accidentally getting the grimiest person out of Russian prison. (The Jacuzzi Boys ate all the soup) Throughout the show, we break down jokes, tell stories from the local scene and discuss all of the important things happening all around the world. The hosts Evan Fitzgerald and Dylan Kantor thank our guests for coming by the studio and appreciate every listen and share!

Originally from Owensboro, Kentucky and why you should never go there. Then what happens when that kid goes to Spokane, Washington. As a Zag, he was primarily focused on the middle distance events but has now extended his range while with the Jacuzzi Boys. He's also training for his first Half Ironman. That's kind of dumb because the half marathon component is about four miles longer than the longest race that he's run. Anyway, he's known to rip 25-second 200s and wears Speedos to parties. We spit some hot takes like the fact that Morgan Pearson should stop doing the triathlon and just focus on running. Fun Fact: Zac has split 4 pairs of Banana Republic Chinos since our host has met him. Influenced by house, techno and all sounds in between it was only natural that he would eventually get involved with the art of production, resulting to an impressive active discography of electronic music since 2005. He has had collaborations with an exciting and diverse number of labels such as Noir Music, Dieb Audio, Metroline Limited, Brise Records, Time Has Changed, Recline, Escapism Musique, Apparel Music, Deso Records, Save Room, Plusminus, Autoreply, Akbal Music, Kolour Music, Neovinyl, Back & Forth, Seven Music and many more. Besides his solo releases as “Fog”, he has also released music along with Berlin based partner “Nick Arara”, under the moniker “Fog & Arara”. Many more studio collaborations and releases took place along with other artists as well such as Ramon Tapia, Mendo, Jay Tripwire, Elef, Jacuzzi Boys, Robbie Akbal&Muan, Mr.Statik, Echonomist, 9 West, John Dalagelis, Kindimmer, Sasch BBC & Caspar, Claire Ripley, Zeitgeist, Nico Lahs, Yapacc, Stefano Esposito, S.K.A.M , South West Seven, Moodtrap, Atapy, Evans & Waterfall and many more... Fog’s releases have been featured in numerous v/a compilations, worth mentioning among many more is “Terry's Cafe” on Plastic City, mixed by “Terry Lee Brown Jr”. Gaining massive support over the past few years, most of his original and remix production work can often be found in the record boxes of dj's such as Steve Bug, Marco Carola, Ritchie Hawtin, Nic Fanciulli, Joris Voorn, Luciano, Matthias Tanzman, DJ Sneak, Maya Jane Cole, Terry Francis, Slam, Brothers Vibe, Ben Sims and many more. Delivering a large bulk of tricks and treats on his productions as well as behind the decks when called for dj duties around the globe, Fog has fairly earned his position between the most respectful house music producers and djs over the music industry.

MEAT....is murder! Frankfurt/Main in the very early nineties. What wannabe-philosophers from today’s capital of Germany years later polemized as the „Raving Revolution“, was just under way. However the Hessians preferred to party in Clubs like the Omen and Dorian Gray or organized small illegal open air parties out in the woods rather than giving advantage to gigantic industrial ruins. An innocent naiv era that still today is inspiring. It’s mind child is Carsten Schuchmann alias DJ Meat. Affected by countless Frankfurt-nights since 1990 and finally persuaded in summer 1991 through the mythical love parade Meat became one of the signboards of the city of capital. Gettings his merits on playing on unlawful parties in closed motorway service areas, ruins of houses and under bridges he emerged from a backyard-DJ to a real professional. Meat is the weight-bearing column under the famous Freebase Records shop. Founded in 1994, the store swung soon itself from a small backyard shop up to the prime address and since then it belongs to the irrefutable constants in this unstable business even far beyond Germany and the electronic scene. A few years later Meat compiled the splendid "ELECTRO FIELDS" CD for the Hamburg Density label and founded the in-house label Below which deals with everything in-between House, experimental electronic and minimal attempts. In these interfaces DJ Meat also finds himself. Equipped with old-school-traits he has both, the forever sharped blades of the past days plus an undelusive instinct for essential novelties. With his mother’s milk he sucked in Straighten Techno and the basics of Chicago and Detroit which goe perfectly together with the minimized housy sounds of nowadays. This load of craftsmanship doesn’t remain without consequences. Meat was one of the style guiding resident DJs at the earliest incarnation of the Frankfurt down town club “Monza” and jointly responsible for the legendary nimbus of this place. From there on he grooved Sven Väth’s colossal future vision “Cocoon”as a resident before he initiated together with selcted guests and freebase staff the monthly “Freebase Night” at holy Robert-Johnson Club. Up till now his steady home base in the Rhein-Main-area. Besides, the passionate socker fan (who else would place a TV in his record shop during the world championship) hops around throughout Europe with growing success. On one of those trips someone might have sold him an extra power-battery that provides him with surplus supernatural energy. Plus all these activities as a DJ, label generator and record shop owner he recently doesn’t only buy special and world’s best records but produces them by himself. Together with Einzelkind he released the smashing first productions “Meat is Murder EP” and a worthy successor called “Words from The Frontline” on the well known label "Get Physical". Next stop in his producer career was the very succeefull "La Pena" label where he released with Einzelkind together. After a couple of tracks on various compilations Meat and some remix works he did some collaborations with "Reboot" as the remix project "Lakeof" and with his new studio partner Chris Wood with whom he released 2009 two Ep's on his own label Below and Kindisch. (check out the Discography or http://www.discogs.com/artist/Meat ) 2010 will pop up with a new ep of the duo infernale Meat & Chris Wood called "Back Down Ep" which will be out end of february 2010 on the london based label Murmur. After a relaxed summer and a couple Remixes for Jacuzzi Boys and some other well known Artists , Meat & Wood are back on the homeprint Label Below with their VH2010 ep. And if this wouldn't be enough he started in 2010 with the Frrebase Radio every 1st and 3rd friday each month on BigCityBeats (http://www.bigcitybeats.de/ )whith a lots of interested guests and music. ....a tasty tasty murder!!! CHRIS WOOD Deeply influenced by the Frankfurt sound of the early 90s, Chris Wood’s interaction with electronic music quickly developed from passion to profession. It is via his work at Delirium Frankfurt Record Store and the “Delirium House Division” that had developed from it, that Chris suddenly became one of the sought-after Frankfurt Locals. After completing his studies as audio engineer, Chris Wood got to know the DJ and producer, Pascal FEOS, and started working for his network, GEM/Elektrolux.Since 2003 Chris was working as label manager for levelNONzero, the label wich was founded by Pascal Feos. Since then there is almost no club in the Rhein-Main-Area which did not rock to his combination of Deephouse, Techhouse and minimal Techno. Since 2004 Chris proceeds also as successful producer and remixer. By now, there are a couple of numerous releases and remixes under his hand. He released for example on labels like Souvenir, Below, Kindisch, MurMur, be_chosen or levelNONzero. (look up discogs) 2009 Chris started working with his friend Meat (Carsten Schuchmann) from Freebase Records Frankfurt. Since then they released a couple of tracks and remixes on different labels and they DJ a lot together at clubs around europe. There last EP on Souvenir records was played by big names like Sven Väth, Ricardo Villalobos, Seth Troxler and many more. Since 2012 Chris and Meat run the store Freebase Records together. Across his long time residency at Monza he became well known beyond Frankfurt borders and has played his sets at national and international clubs and events such as Penelopé and Space (Ibiza), Robert Johnson (Offenbach), Kristal (Rumania), Coccon Club (Frankfurt), Harry Klein (Munich), Rave on Snow (Austria) a.o.

Hey folks, I've been on VACATION! Yeah, it's been a year now since I got a full-time grown-up job, so I finally decided to cash in and take a week of paid vacation. Lemme back up a bit and be honest. I didn't just go nuts and check out for awhile, I went nuts and impulsively bought tickets to the Friday night show of the Norton Records 25th anniversary celebration at the Bell House in Brooklyn! I just couldn't miss the Reigning Sound, Mark Sultan, the Great Gaylord, Jackie and The Cedrics, Mighty Hannibal, Andre Williams, and an all-star band led by Mick Collins on guitar. What a lineup! After a five day weekend in NYC that involved much record shopping (original pressings of the second New York Dolls LP AND PiL's Flowers Of Romance, YES!), a midnight show at the KILLER Spectacle Theater, a trip to Coney Island for a Nathan's Famous, and a few moments of clarity in a garden on top of a seventeen story building, I'm back and proud to present Random Old Records Podcast #37, which also happens to be the third anniversary show!Yep, I've been doing this podcast for a solid three years now and it might seem easy, but it can get hard as hell to scour the bins and blogs for a monthly hour of fresh jams sometimes. Luckily, the fall has coughed up a whole bunch of sizzling slabs that I can't stop spinning, and the springboard was a killer weeknight show at local dive The Comet, featuring Davila 666, Jacuzzi Boys, and Barreracudas. You'll hear a track from each band on this episode, kicking off with Davila's modern classic "El Lobo." Elsewhere, there's bubblegum-catchy glammy power pop punk junk from Italy's Giuda, Bare Wires, Video, and White Faces, another track from the AMAZING new Strange Boys LP (the best American rock n' roll band since the Replacements, for real), dark mysterious pop from Captured Tracks heroes Blouse and The Soft Moon, noisy Ramones worship from Terry Malts, noisy 90s slacker-rock worship from Heavy Times, and a whole helluva lot MORE!I know that I say it every time a new episode comes out, but seriously, THANK YOU for reading this blog and listening to the podcast! Whether you've been here since the beginning, or just found this site while searching for Mediafire links to the new Bad Sports LP or whatever and decided that REAL old school music writing still had merit in 2011, I'm glad you came along for the ride. Every time I think about quitting and settling into old age and complacency, my mind is blown by another bunch of kids with guitars and the cycle starts all over again. If going to the Norton bash taught me anything, it's that real, passionate rock n' roll still pokes through the cracks in this monolith of Internet cultural saturation every once in awhile, and it's no less vital than it was back in whatever time and place you decide is THE DAY. Hope you dig episode #37, and here's to three more years!Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to Random Old Records via Apple Podcasts, Google Play, or RSS. Yeah dude, EPISODE #35 of Random Old Records is finished, fresh off my hard drive to yours, and this one is chock-full of jams! Not only that, but this time around there's no dance pop. Yep, 100% dance pop free! It kicks off with a track from Vancouver's Dead Ghosts, who put out one of the best rock n' roll debut albums I've heard in a long time earlier this year. It sounds like a bunch of degenerate punk kids who grew up on beat-up vinyl copies of early Stones records. A few minutes later, there's a tune from the upcoming second Dum Dum Girls record on Sub Pop, and Dee Dee Dum Dum has morphed into a master of the pop song. "Bedroom Eyes" sounds straight outta 1985, a simpler time when songs that still resembled rock n' roll made it onto pop radio. It sounds like the love song from a classic big-budget 80s flick, and just try to make it through without getting that chorus stuck in your head. It's impossible!Elsewhere, I dig deep into my bank of classic tunes and pull out stuff by Big Star, The Raspberries, Captain Beefheart, Thee Headcoats, and Louis Jordan. Plus, you'll hear a set of original punk rock from The Ramones, Stiff Little Fingers, and The Rezillos, and a sprinkling of newer tracks by Jacuzzi Boys, Bare Wires, Fungi Girls, and Missing Monuments. Hot DAMN! Nestled deep in the playlist, you'll find a track from The Streys, a bunch of kids from the Cleveland suburbs who cranked out a few singles of hammer-dumb 60s garage punk before disappearing forever. It all wraps up with "Since You've Gone" by Spanky And Our Gang, one of the most dazzling displays of psychedelic vocal harmony I've ever heard. All in all, this is one of the best episodes of Random Old Records I've put together in awhile, so go to the normal locations and download it right away! There's lots of loud guitars, simplistic hooks, and plenty of "hell yeah!" moments to be had. It's a perfect soundtrack for jumping around your room for like an hour!Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to Random Old Records via Apple Podcasts, Google Play, or RSS.
