Last week, I watched this incredible Hindi movie called "Janhit Mein Jaari," which translates to "In Public Interest," on Zee5 Channel. Why we believe in the work we do, the contributions we make despite having no support from our family and friends at times? How we, in the process of choosing something we believe in, actually heal and embrace our most authentic self? God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God. (Genesis 1:26-27, ‭5:1)‬The Image of God is not so much something that man bears as something that man is. Hebrew, but the point is that the grammar favors the translation "God created man as His image" over "God created man in His image." As Cline puts it in his concluding remarks: "Thus we may say that according to Genesis 1, man does not have the image of God, nor is he made in the image of God, but is himself the image of God." Humankind, then, was created to be a "copy" or a "graphic image" of the Creator – a formal, visible, and understandable representation of who God is and what He is really like.To put it another way, it is precisely the Image of God that makes man human; man could not lose the Image without ceasing to be what he is. Furthermore, it is only because he retains it, even in a broken or distorted form, that man is redeemable and worth redeeming. Without it, God would have had no reason or motivation to send His Son to die on our behalf.They could not have been any more like God without being God. God made them comparable to Him. God made them in Our Image and Likeness, to Have Complete Authority and Dominion over the things on the earth, and Over All the Earth.The Deception of the Enemy is to Keep you from Knowing Who you Are and What You Have in Christ Jesus – you're a New Creation, a Saint, a Child of the Living God, a Member of God's Own Family and His Household, Who Citizenship Is in Heaven and You Have the Bonus, Courage and Confidence of Free Access, and Unreserved Approach to God with freedom and without fear. Joshua Brown is one of the premier financial bloggers, and for almost eight years (next month) my goal has been to bring the best of the blogs to the radio. We did that tonight. Josh’s blog The Reformed Broker is so good it has led to a column in Fortune Magazine, regular appearances on CNBC, and now, to his new book Backstage Wall Street: An Insider’s Guide to Knowing Who to Trust, Who to Run From, and How to Maximize Your Investments. Sure, the book is about Josh’s career as a broker, during the decade which saw both 9-11 and the global financial meltdown. He provides great insight into the business, the pressure cooker and the conflicts (which is a polite way of saying working for the firm first instead of clients). After a certain point, Josh couldn’t bring himself to get out of bed, to push another investment product. He decided that the broker business was broken and he was done with it. Since that moment, his life has enjoyed a major renaissance. Today, he’s an independent, advising clients and worrying about their interests instead of generating trading profits for the firm. The book does a great job pulling back the curtain on an industry that has seen better days. For all the insight the book provides into the broker business, for me, this book was as much about doing what you love, following your passion and making it a career. As a blogger, I LOVE success stories like Josh’s. Guys like him are why we launched this show, to share the insight and perspective of really smart, passionate subject matter experts.
