Analyzing Prayer draws together a range of theologians and philosophers to deal with different approaches to prayer as a Christian practice. The essays included deal with issues pertaining to petitionary prayer, prayer as reorientation of oneself in the presence of God, prayer by those who do not believe, liturgical prayer, mystical prayer, whether God prays, the interrelation between prayer and various forms of knowledge, theologizing as a form of prayer, lament and prayer, prayer and God's presence, and even prayer and the meaning of life. The volume contains cutting-edge studies on a neglected topic of theological study that contributes to the broadening of themes tackled by analytic theology.Oliver D. Crisp, Professor of Analytic Theology, University of St Andrews, James M. This week I welcome Dr. Tom Murray for a conversation about the difference between discernment counseling and couples therapy. Dr. Tom is an author, international trainer, educator, and couples and sex-therapist supervisor. He is also a sought-after expert in sexuality and intimate relationships. In this episode, we get to the root of why couples therapy does not work in the traditional sense, and how discernment counseling might be a better option for you and your partner.  This is a wonderful and insightful discussion for all who listen.  Featured topics include: Discernment counseling: what it is and how it can help couples make a decision about what's next for them (4:07) The difference between couples therapy and discernment counseling (6:42) The three paths of discernment counseling: status quo, divorce, or couples therapy (7:34) If there is domestic violence in a relationship, discernment counseling is not appropriate (9:10) Agenda versus Love: “When I want you to be as I want you to be, that's an agenda. When I want you to be as you want to be, that's love.” Even in the presence of love, however, you don't have to stay married. (18:00) Why Dr. Tom says, “Rather than focus on the assumption that therapy is the catalyst for the change, focus on the change you want to see.” (22:21) Learn more about Dr. Tom Murray: Dr. Tom Murray, an international trainer, educator, and couples and sex therapist, is a widely sought-after expert in sexuality and intimate relationships. Eventually, Matlock landed on her feet at Lindsey Wilson College, where her team made it to the NAIA World Series and she was named to the All-Tournament Team, amongst a host of other honours. She then moved onto the University of West Alabama, where she continued to dominate. The 5-foot-9 outfielder just put the wraps on her senior season, and is on her way back to Alberta. Ty Scott of the Bryan College Lions was named to our 2020 All-Alberta Team back in January, after hitting .417 with four home runs, 15 RBIs and five stolen bases in just 20 games before the pandemic hit. As a senior this year, the Calgary product is back to his old tricks, hitting .415 with three homers, 12 RBIs and seven stolen bases in 16 contests. No hit this year was bigger than a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth to cap off a 16-14 win over Lindsey Wilson College back on February 23rd. We talked about the bomb, growing up in Calgary with players like Mike Soroka, heading to Vauxhall Academy of Baseball, and mindset, which is appropriate given he’s a psychology major.

LEADING OFF
There was a tweet from Adam Nelson, a former college basketball coach who talked about today NOT being the start of college basketball season because the NAIA and small colleges have been playing for quite a while. That’s true with wrestling and I’m going to continue to belabor the point that if you’re a wrestling fan, let’s branch out and be a wrestling fan. There’s a lot of teams that don’t get any love, but they’re out there competing. Some might even be within a reasonable drive when we get back to normal or some might have a kid who’s from your hometown. I’ve had kids from my hometown compete in D1, D2, D3 the NAIA, NJCAA through the NCWA. Following those kids helped me keep up with the York College’s of the world, the Labette’s.

That being said, onto Tuesday’s college wrestling scores, because YES, there IS college wrestling going on.
Of course, if you’ve listened to this show enough, you know that top-ranked Grand View is approaching history. Scratch that, they’ve tied history as Tuesday night, the Vikings blanked Benedictine (Kan.) 55-0 for its 92nd straight dual win, tying the all-time college record with SUNY-Delhi from 1979-1982. Grand View sets out to break the record on December 10 at Baker.

Grand View picked up seven falls in the win, the fastest coming in 20 seconds from 125-pounder Matthew Jordan.
Briar Cliff 44, Dakota Wesleyan 6
Chris Paulsen and Caleb “Tornado” Shanks each picked up falls for Joe Privetere’s Chargers. Yes, THAT Joe Privetere.

Hastings 39, Midland 15
This one was nutty with all 10 bouts scoring bonus points, including six falls. Unfortunately for Midland, Hastings picked up four of those falls and a forfeit.

Northwestern (Iowa) 30, William Penn 27
This one came down to heavyweight as Northwestern College, the one in Iowa, got a fall from Chris Van Der Brink in the first period to give the Red Raiders, from Orange City, the Great Plains Athletic Conference victory over the Statesmen. All that news and more …

ROCKING WRESTLING FACT DROP - WIN AND GET OUTWhile it’s not the only time it’s happened, it was surely the first. Garden City Community College tied with Lassen for the team championship at the 1995 NJCAA national championships. The program was cut soon thereafter. It often seems those young, natural talents, who have so much promise and future, end up struggling with the biggest hurdles. Finding success in something easily at a young age can cripple the growth and maturity of an individual, leaving them wondering what happened when opportunities finally close and success can't override questionable personal choices. JD Swanguen tasted success in mountain biking at a young age. The San Diego native was around the right people thanks to his father, John, who is one of the unsung pioneers of freestyle BMX. When JD found an interest in mountain biking, that interest was fostered through family support and eventually sponsorship. His style was honed through dirt jumping and skatepark riding and his downhill racing results were rising. Without ever seriously training, and in the face of some hard partying, JD managed to earn a silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Fort William, 2007. As his career blossomed, his decisions as young man still in his teens, would end up sidelining that career before he ever reached his true racing potential. Before his career came to end, however, JD was experimenting with some of the first 29er downhill bikes made by Jeff Steber at Intense back in 2010, and JD always remained one of the most stylish riders on the track. By 2012, JD just wasn't at the races anymore. He found his way into Lindsey Wilson College, met a girl and had a daughter and continues to live on the East Coast. We're honored to have caught up with JD to put some myths to rest and to hear his story, full of hard lessons learned.
