Cindy Esliger explores the real cost of losing belief in ourselves and how self-doubt quietly limits career growth, especially for women in STEM and other male-dominated workplaces. Staying silent, downplaying achievements, and waiting for permission can feel like the safer path, but those choices create invisibility over time and prevent us from pursuing opportunities we've already earned. Cindy explains why self-confidence is not a fluffy concept but a critical skill for building a successful career. Drawing on the unique challenges women face in technical fields, Cindy explains how repeated microaggressions, vague feedback, and being overlooked can slowly erode confidence. She highlights six warning signs that lack of self-belief is costing us: 1. Asking permission instead of taking initiative, 2. Working harder and later than everyone else to prove worth, 3. Attributing success to luck, timing, or other people while owning every failure, 4. Staying quiet in meetings or minimizing ideas with apologies, 5. Declining opportunities because of feeling underqualified, and 6. Apologizing excessively even when nothing is wrong. She also challenges common beliefs that keep us stuck and explains the difference between confidence built on external evidence and self-confidence that comes from trusting ourselves. Cindy closes with four practical strategies to strengthen self-confidence from the inside out: 1. Understand the difference between confidence and self-confidence, 2. Use our voices effectively and powerfully, 3. Stop relying on other people's belief in us, and 4. Manage our thoughts deliberately. Believing in ourselves is not about arrogance. It's about trusting that we can handle whatever happens, continuing to take action despite uncertainty, and creating the career and life we truly want. Greg Michelman and James Mcleod discussed the power of staying true to oneself and using one's experiences to help others. Beginning with Greg's story of overcoming vitiligo and a troubled past, the two discussed the importance of positivity, authenticity, and vulnerability as a superpower. They also discussed the importance of taking the time to meet people and get to know them, and the power of staying humble and accessible, even when one becomes successful. Through their conversation, they reminded listeners to stay safe and stay blessed, and to never forget the power of self-discovery and how it can change lives.Episode Outline:(00:06:39) Overcoming Adversity(00:00:05) Life Transformation(00:52:24) Accessible Elevation(00:29:49) Finding Authenticity(00:18:46) Believing in Yourself(00:24:05) Kill Old Self(00:12:41) Rewriting Life Story(00:57:41) Living Authentically(00:35:30) Vidaligal Reentry(00:41:09) Empowering Positivity(00:46:48) Shaking Hands and ConnectingQuotes:(00:40:05) I'm the 1% of reentry overcoming all these different things. I'm sure I'm able to go back into communities and talk to young people who're actually making the wrong turn and just talk to everyday people who make poor choices and bad decisions. I'm the possibility for me, I'm not looking back, I'm just moving forward.(00:23:11) But the beautiful thing about social media, which is funny when I talk to people because some people hate it, but for me, it's like, if you follow the right people, your algorithm is going to show you positivity. My algorithm is filled with positivity. I have no negativity in it anymore because I remove the negativity from it. I don't search for negativity. I search for positivity. So, when I scroll, all I see is you and other people in my circles that are doing either big business or talking about life in a certain way and empowering people and trying to elevate.(00:58:02) No matter what, man, no matter what, no matter how big I get, no matter how far I go, I still want to be that person, man, who can still reach people.(00:48:43) It doesn't cost a thing to be kind. A simple smile goes a long way, and these are simple principles that anyone and everyone can do, and it will make the world a better place.(00:33:47) But I just made some poor choices. And when I got around with the wrong group and hanging around the streets, it kind of turned me into someone else who I really wasn't until I actually went to federal prison. And I realized that this jealousy is not for me. The streets are not for me, right?(00:26:51) No, I took advantage of my situation or my circumstances. So, for me, it's personally, like, I'm doing so many different things. I'm an entrepreneur. I'm a DJ. I'm a two-time author doing modeling on the side, coming out with a new movie that's going to be called A Different Man that's going to be coming out really soon in theaters and just like, little, small things that just happened in my life. So, for me, it's bigger than Vidaligo, but for me, it's just like, I'm not going to allow Vidal LIGO to pigeonhole me or just define me. And it's like, I'm just getting out of life all different ways.(00:15:08) But I had to come to my own terms with that, of course, because if I didn't come to my own terms with that, then I really wouldn't know who I'm really in because there was a lot of times I go back and forth with my mom and say, hey, man, are you telling me the truth?(00:06:04) I have to believe in myself. And I did the right thing. Next thing was trying to go into the right path, and I never looked back ever since then.(00:46:34) But now as you take a step back and you realize, man, people are just people, man. It's the same thing on all these racial topics and all these who cares. When you step out of the nonsense and you actually go out into the world, which you do a lot of.(00:52:42) And the thing is, I don't think I get why some people say, Yo, man, you don't even give yourself enough credit, man. And that's the thing. And I started to really show more gratitude on that lately for the last couple of months, because I don't have random conversations with people that I met up with or people I just ran and just having just a simple conversation. They're like, man, thank you. You just changed my whole day.(00:11:39) The past, one of the things I say about our past is it's always good to look over your shoulder only for the purpose of realizing how far you've come, not to dwell in it and live in it.Social Post:Are you ready to trade the life you have for the life you were born to live? Don't miss out on this inspiring episode and start your journey to becoming the best version of yourself! #TheTradedLife #ElevateYourself #FindYourPurposeBlog Post:We all have our unique stories and experiences that have the power to shape our lives and the lives of those around us. Greg Michelman and James Mcleod recently discussed the importance of staying true to oneself and using one's experiences to help others. Greg Michelman is praising James Mcleod for turning his life around and using his experiences to help others. James Mcleod had vitiligo, a skin condition, when he was younger and was often asked what happened to his face. His mother helped him to see himself for who he truly was. He is now working on a book for adults called The Motivational Man Behind the Face, which talks about his traumatic experiences and how he navigated through them.James Mcleod believes that identifying his struggles and challenges has made life easier for him. He believes that it is an inside job to make life better and that everyone's journey is different. He is in tune with himself and feels it is an honor to share his story and give others a voice.Greg and James met in person for the first time at a coffee shop without seeing each other's faces. Greg heard James talking to people in the coffee shop and immediately knew it was him. Greg had heard James on a podcast a few years prior and felt compelled to introduce himself. He was inspired by James' positivity and energy and how he was helping people. Greg believes that the world needs people like James to bring positivity and equal energy.Greg has learned to be exactly who he is and not be ashamed of his story. He believes that everyone has something relatable and a message to share. People are often afraid to step into their true selves and be happy. People are often conditioned to be negative and not spark conversations or show kindness. People don't know what others are going through and should give them grace.Greg and James are discussing the power of using social media to spread positivity and empower others. Greg is using vitiligo as an example of how he overcame his insecurities and fears. Vitiligo is an autoimmune condition that is not talked about as much and is often used as a fashion statement. Greg is using his vitiligo to help those who are still hiding in the dark and to teach them to see the beauty inside and outside of themselves.Greg has taken advantage of his situation and is now an entrepreneur, DJ, two-time author, model, and actor. He is using his platform to uplift, encourage, and make an impact on others. He believes that in order to elevate to the next level, one must "kill the old version of themselves" and focus on their passions and happiness.Greg realized that life could be better if he had taken the right steps in the beginning. He decided to become a personal trainer and started to work in the fitness industry. He started speaking to young people and telling his story of overcoming adversities. He wrote a children's book, The Boyette Behind the Face, to encourage young people to face their fears and doubts. He found his happiness in encouraging and uplifting others and making an impact every day.He had to step out of his adult body and look at himself as the young boy with the struggles he went through. He wrote a second book, Daily Superpowers, to give schools, faculty, and children a word of encouragement. He found his inner voice at the age of seven and realized the power of a smile. He started smiling at random strangers and counting how many smiles he got each day.He surrounded himself with the wrong people and ended up in prison. He used his time in prison for affirmations and to create a strong mind. He found himself in trouble and went down a path that led to prison. He took a negative and turned it into a positive by surrounding himself with the right people. He went back to his community after prison but avoided hanging out in the same places. He started hanging out in different locations and meeting new people. He became someone people looked up to in the streets. He has the ability to talk to people who are making wrong turns and bad decisions. He is the 1% of reentry overcoming all the different things.Greg and James are discussing the idea of letting go of old versions of oneself in order to elevate to the next level. Greg is talking about how he has taken a step back and is more reserved when it comes to talking about what he does. He surrounds himself with like-minded people and goes to events related to the industry he is in. He has adjusted his behavior but has not changed who he is. He believes that it is important to be authentic and to be the same person no matter who he is around. He gives off an energy that makes people curious about him and want to know more. He has learned to be patient with himself and to accept who he is.Greg and James' conversation is a powerful reminder that staying true to yourself and using your experiences to help others is a superpower. We all have our unique stories and experiences that have the power to shape our lives and the lives of those around us. By taking the time to meet people and get to know them, staying humble and accessible, and staying positive and authentic, we can all make an impact and help others. Let's take the time to remember the power of self-discovery and how it can change lives.Resources:Connect with Greg Michelman:LinkedInConnect with James Mcleod:WebsiteInstagramOther MaterialsThese materials help you promote your podcast. Show Notes:You have more to give than you think. We all do.I was recently sitting at my desk, thinking about how amazing it is that people are connecting with the way I am sharing about God & deepening my relationship with Him by really getting into studying the Bible. And I was in kind of a prayer/chatting to myself and to God, when I said something like, “I'm surprised that people are relating to me so well, even though I'm still new here, but You're using me where I'm at right now [in life] and others may be at that same place and appreciate the way I go about it because of that.” Basically, I was coming to the conclusion that God IS using me to do His work right where I'm at in life. And immediately after having that thought, I went to look up scriptures that aligned with that thinking (I'm doing that a lot, lately, lol). Here is the scripture that hit me most when thinking about being beneficial despite our weakness:2 Corinthians 12:9, “Each time he said, My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness. So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”There were many people in the Bible that struggled with feeling like they were enough to do what God was asking them to do. Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, Paul (our new role model for confidence) felt inadequate to preach the gospel before realizing God's power was made perfect in his weakness, and Gideon needed signs from God to confirm he was actually being called to lead the battle against the Midianites.Today I want to chat with you about how we have way more to give than we think we do. We are capable of so much, regardless of education, time, experience, or even how we feel about ourselves. We can do amazing things if we only believed in ourselves & no longer allowed the doubt to take over our minds. And to that note, today I am going to share with you 5 tips you can use to push through feelings of inadequacy & self-doubt.Find the Source of Your FeelingsWhat are your feelings based on? Once you know where your feelings are based, you can combat those feelings with positive ones and ones that better reflect the truth.Take Action & RisksSet a few small goals Do an activity outside of your comfort zone Bring attention to your idea/opinion Learn New SkillsTake a class to better a skill or learn a new oneTry something you never thought you would or that has nothing to do with anything you do now.Lean On GodPray & seek God's wisdom, guidance & strength to make it through moments of feeling less than & high self-doubt.Remember that God can use us despite our weaknesses or inexperience. Have a Balanced View of Your Strengths & WeaknessesWe focus way too much on our weaknesses. There needs to be a balance between reviewing what needs to be strengthened and what is already really strong. No one is good at everything.Support the showWatch the Video Version of RPG: https://www.youtube.com/@realpositivegirl/podcastsBuy the Planner on AMAZON!: https://amzn.to/3WwthT2Visit me on Instagram or TikTok: @sabrinajoyperozzoTwitter: @realsabrinajoyEmail Me: realpositivegirlpodcast@gmail.com Sign up for my weekly newsletter https://www.sabrinajoy.com/newsletterCashApp Show Donations: $sabrinaperozzo

Feeling like you are in a stage of your life with quite a bit of uncertainty? No clue if you are actually making decent progress towards your ultimate goals? I can relate!! On today's episode, I'm sharing how I am currently working on building up certainty in my own success while I deal with a reality that is pretty uncertain. Currently, I could easily look at my reality and focus on all the signs that tell me we are headed in a bad direction and that everything is going wrong OR I could choose to look and focus on the signs that show me progress in the direction I desire. Of course, I choose the latter. You would too, right?! But it's not always easy to stay focused on the good signs and the progress, when doubts start creeping in and pulling you the other way. There are two analogies i will share with you that are helping me practice embodying certainty that my dreams are happening and that will hopefully help you embody certainty in your dreams too! As creatives, leaders, and business owners we all have dreams or something we're pursuing. But what do we do when fear holds us back? As a spirit lead business owner, when I'm fearful about finances or outside opinions I make decisions differently. In today's Midday Motivation, I speak on how we can cast out fear when it gets in the way of pursing our dreams. Now, what is the antidote to fear? Receiving love. It's important to stay in a place of receiving love from God but also people around you. If you don't, you'll realize down the road that you're looking for love from many other things. And that's why we need to separate our work from our identity! Confidence plays a big role in your desire to pursue your goals & how you present yourself to others. It's also a general sense of believing in yourself, but many of us lack confidence in certain areas of our lives or don't feel confident at all. Here are 7 tips on how to become more confident!Show Notes:Genuinely, I used to believe confidence would just come to me someday. I would just, BAM, have it in me, because it appeared to happen this way to others. Other people I knew just seemed to gain confidence overnight or in a moment's notice when it was needed most & then have it for the foreseeable future. I envied it for years. And sadly enough, it wasn't until our daughter was like 4 or 5, so only a decade ago, making me like 26, that I finally realized I had to decide to have confidence, instead of waiting for it to appear like the tooth fairy was going to leave it under my pillow. Even in the things I was really good at, I lacked confidence. And I tell you this because I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. I might be the only one to admit it on the internet, but still. It needs to be shared that it's ok if this is how you thought about confidence. Or maybe you thought not everyone gets to have confidence. If you didn't have it from the beginning, you weren't getting it at all. But that isn't true, either.Or maybe you used to have such strong confidence in yourself and it did seem to come naturally, but it felt like someone took it away. And I say this lightly because I don't believe we can blame others for changes in how we think, believe or decide to be. People in our lives & environments we spend time can, for sure, influence these things, but all the blame can't be laid here. This doesn't diminish the effect these things had on you that shook your confidence. It still matters & is important. And experiences like that can be sometimes worse than not ever having confidence because you know what you lost. It's also true that you can have confidence in certain things & not in others. Today I'm speaking more on having confidence, in general, but it's important to note that you can still use these tips I'm going to give you, even if you only lack confidence in certain parts of your life. It should help boost it all because confidence plays a big role in your desire to pursue your goals & how you present yourself to others. It's also a general sense of believing in yourself. So more of it isn't an issue. Here are 7 tips on how to become more confident in your life:Surround Yourself With Uplifting People (positive people/influences)Resist the Urge to Compare Yourself to Others (different seasons, different reasons)Become More Self-Aware (understand your emotions, decisions, reactions, reasons)Don't Stop Growing & Learning & Changing (don't stay stagnant, show yourself you can still be confident in new things)Accept Your Mistakes & Failures (don't let these things defeat or define you)Lean Into What You Are Confident In to Show You the Way (it's like breadcrumbs)Live in the Present (don't worry how this will affect the near future or be reminiscent of the past)Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi or on Clubhouse @sabrinajperozzo to chat!Have any questions, comments or feedback? CORINA IS BACK! She's here to round table the book Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert with us, as she's the one who introduced it to us a few years back (we're so glad she did!). If you're curious where you've heard Corina's voice before… remember that she joined us on episode 20 (Believing In Yourself, Connecting To Your Creativity, & Becoming More Present with Corina Alulquoy Brown)—which is truly a must-listen for all. In this episode, we're discussing the main themes of the book, the knowledge we've gained, how relevant the messages are to our lives, and where we disagree with the author. Along the way, Corina shares valuable insight & mindset tips—all from experience. If you're unfamiliar, Big Magic is all about creativity and how we can view it as a cosmic source that comes & goes, the fear that can accompany creative endeavors, how ideas are their own entities looking for human collaborators, the big magic that happens when an idea and human work synergistically, and how we can debunk the mindsets that keep us small. The three of us believe this book is a helpful tool if you're on the journey of propelling yourself forward. Elizabeth has a gentle way of addressing fears, sharing her optimistic perspective on life, and reassurance that yes, indeed you can go forth. Soak it all in, Cowboys. This is a great one.
