In this episode of Make Change Happen, marking LGBTQI+ Pride month, we want to spark conversations about how urban development and climate action can be truly inclusive of queer communities. Iacovini, working with the Instituto Pólis in Sao Paul, Brazil and queer activist Sarah Louis Montgomery, project coordinator at the global network GenderCC-Women for Climate Justice in Berlin, Germany. Most people abhor change. But without change, your business will never succeed. This is why Jörg Hellwig puts change at the centre of everything he does – from digitalising companies, building new businesses, and adapting communication processes. Jörg is the former CDO of multi-billion Euro revenue company LANXESS, founder of CheMondis, and angel investor. According to Jörg, any success should be followed by change. When things are going well you are in the best position to change because it leaves room for failure. Fail fast, adapt, and keep the pressure on to become successful. And how does he convince people of change? He tells stories to motivate his teams to come with him on the journey, and he gives them the licence to prompt him to change him too. In this week's episode, Jörg talks us through how he transformed a massive company, why the 2008 financial crisis was the best thing that could have happened to him, and the importance of having fun to succeed. Making change is difficult, join Henry Fenby-Taylor at Digital Construction Week as he speak to Jacqui Glass from University College London and Mohammad Sakikhales of the University of Greenwich about how Government can help, but also the challenges that have to be overcome in order to change the way things work. Then he joins Alexandra Bantock and Sarah Saxton of Preoptima, a disruptive startup company that are out there making great changes to the way that the Built Environment operates. Two different ends of the spectrum, but approaches that will need to be brought together more often and with better outcomes to tackle climate change.

Ever been in a place in your life when you wanted change but it wasn't happening fast enough? Maybe, right now, you are waiting for an answer, for a door to open. Maybe something feels out of your control. You are doing everything you know to do, all the little things you can do, as you wait for the big thing to happen. Perhaps it feels like everything hinges on the one thing you are waiting for. Does it feel like it is so close yet so far away? You're wondering, “What's the hold up?” It's like you are in a standstill. I totally understand how you feel. One morning in my quiet time with God, I was asking Him “What's the hold up?” about something we are waiting for as a family. Why the delay? God encouraged me with two ways you can make change happen now in your life, so I'm sharing it here with you. I hope that it is a blessing to you.

The banking industry, while steeped in tradition, is far from predictable. More than ever, marketplace changes are impacting what financial institutions deliver and how solutions are delivered. Unfortunately, not all legacy bankers have kept pace with the changes in the marketplace … either by choice or because their organization has failed to keep up. Without a challenger mindset and a willingness to accept change, take risks and disrupt status quo, bankers like us will be left behind. I am so excited to have Leda Glyptis PhD, chief client officer at 10x Banking back on the Banking Transformed podcast. She will discuss her amazing new book entitled, Bankers Like Us, which chronicles her journey, observations and recommendations for an industry being disrupted. Whether you're an experienced salesperson or not, chances are one of the most anxiety-inducing parts of your sales process is "the pitch," when you present your offer to a potential client. But what if your pitch didn't have to be a dry, run-of-the-mill list of why someone should buy from or hire you? What if, instead, it was a chance for you to build an emotional connection and establish a relationship that fuels one if not many purchases? Find out in this episode, featuring lifetime entrepreneur, businessman, and artist Roger Mavity. Prior to his current work as a writer and photographer, Roger owned an advertising agency, Mavity Gilmore Jaume, which he then sold to become the Chief Executive of Granada Group's leisure division. There, he led the pitch for Granada Group's acquisition of Forte Group – "the biggest hostile takeover bid in British commercial history." In the years since, Roger has served as the Chairman of Citigate and the Chief Executive of the Conran Group. He's also the author of "Life's a Pitch," "The Rule-Breakers Book of Business," and "Terence, the man who invented design." His argument is that a pitch is really like a drama, and that "A pitch isn't about transferring information. It's about transferring power." We learned a lot in this episode and hope you do, too. Let's dive in! Show Notes: ✅ Get Roger's book, "Life's a Pitch," here: https://rogermavity.com/writing/books/lifes-a-pitch/

Getting things done in a bureaucracy can be hard, but Marina Nitze and Nick Sinai have found success. Now, they are working to ensure employees at every level and in every kind of bureaucracy can create change despite their environment. Nitze and Sinai's new book “Hack Your Bureaucracy: Get Things Done No Matter What Your Role on Any Team” helps employees from the front-line to the top make real change in their roles. In a conversation with host Jason Briefel, Nitze and Sinai explain the real-world experience working in both the federal sector and the private sector that informed the tips they share in the book. The group discusses unique elements of the federal bureaucracy that make change hard, and how employees can push through those obstacles. Not only does the group discuss tips for individual change, but also how employees can lead the charge on organizational change. Nitze is currently a partner at Layer Aleph, a crisis response firm that specializes in restoring complex software systems to service. Nitze is also a fellow at New America's New Practice Lab, where she works on improving America's foster care system through the Resource Family Working Group and Child Welfare Playbook. Nitze was most recently the Chief Technology Officer of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs under President Obama, after serving as a Senior Advisor on technology in the Obama White House and as the first Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the U.S. Department of Education. Sinai is a venture capitalist, adjunct Harvard faculty, and a former senior White House official in the Obama Administration. As a Senior Advisor at Insight Partners, Sinai serves on the board of Rebellion Defense, Hawkeye360, LeoLabs, and Shift5. He writes and teaches about technology in government and serves as a commissioner on the Atlantic Council's Commission on Remaking the US Defense Innovation System. Recently, Sinai co-founded the U.S. Digital Corps, a new two-year federal fellowship for early-career technologists, launched in the summer of 2021. EPISODE THREE: HOW WE MAKE CHANGE HAPPEN In this episode Caroline and Jen speak to Cherilyn Mackrory MP and Professor Sarah Stock about the work Sands does to improve bereavement care and save babies' lives. They touch on how parents can use their voices to improve practice and support research, and the difference we can all make in campaigning for change. Professor Sarah Stock is a consultant obstetrician, researcher and Sands Trustee. She discusses factors that might affect stillbirth and pre-term birth, the importance of funding research into stillbirth and in including parents in research. Cherilyn Mackrory MP is co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Baby Loss and mum to baby Lily. She shares how much the Baby Loss Awareness debates have on her colleagues in Government and how collectively, we can all make a difference to raise awareness of pregnancy loss and baby loss, and influence for long-lasting change. 13 babies die in the UK every day and 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss. Every day, Sands works to improve the care and support that bereaved parents receive – and help create a world where fewer babies die. As IIED celebrates its 50th birthday, this episode of Make Change Happen brings together four established members of the IIED family to reflect on key movements in the journey towards sustainable development. Host Liz Carlile, IIED's director of communications, is joined by ex-colleagues Steve Bass, now a consultant in sustainable development; Saleemul Huq, director of the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD); and former IIED director Camilla Toulmin, who is now a professor at the University of Lancaster's Environment Centre and an associate at the Institute for New Economic Thinking. All three are also senior associates working with IIED. They discuss some of the key movements that have pushed sustainable development forward in recent decades, how the landscape has changed, and what might come next.
Change is an issue that affects all of us. For many people, it's is something to be avoided. Change is disruptive, annoying and often mentally and emotionally painful. And yet, our change stories can help people see change in a different light. We can help people move past their fear and anxiety about change and into a more neutral place where they can see themselves making the changes necessary to move forward. In this episode you'll hear two change stories and how they were effective at helping people embrace change. I'll also share a simple four-part formula for choosing your change stories. If you care about your audience, your change story can make a real and lasting difference in someone's life.
To reflect on International Women's Day, and the 2022 theme ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow', this episode of Make Change Happen discusses how gender equity and intersectionality approaches are central to climate justice, and that means putting people's rights, lived experiences and priorities at the centre of every response. Heather McGray, director of the Climate Justice Resilience Fund, Vitumbiko Chinoko, project manager at the Open Forum on Agriculture and Technology in Nairobi, and IIED's Tracy Kajumba join host Liz Carlile. We explore what is meant by the term ‘climate justice', and unpack how through shifting the dynamics of oppression, and taking an intersectional approach to climate responses, the burdens of climate change are more likely to be shared fairly and equitably.
“You're not only the actor, you're also the director. And this is where you can take the script and you can change what happens.” -Nic Aguirre The subconscious mind is the source of our creativity, intuition, and problem-solving skills. But it can also be the reason why we struggle with certain issues. When we talk about the subconscious mind, we're not talking about dreams or hallucinations, but instead, the part of our mind that regulates all of our bodily functions and dictates every action we take and most decisions we make. In this episode, we will take a look at what hypnosis really is, how hypnotherapy works, what the so-called trance state is like, what is the subconscious mind, how to manifest the change we want to achieve, and how you can use this information to your advantage. A lot of people are skeptical about hypnotherapy. But in a world where most people are not living the life they want for themselves, maybe we are missing something in terms of achieving true personal growth and reprogramming our subconscious mind so that we can make our visions into reality. No doubt you'll agree that before we write something off, it's worth giving it a thorough examination first. The advice to “move fast and break things” is at best incomplete. If you make change the wrong way you can create upset, chaos, and even risk blowing up your business, career, or an important relationship. For more information, visit the show notes at https://Workpantsfinance.com/23
