In this episode of the Dover Download podcast, Deputy City Manager Christopher Parker chats with Mike Gillis, the city's Director of Media Services, to recap highlights from January's board, committee, and commission activities. The conversation begins with the Jan. 5 inauguration of the City Council, including four new city councilors and a new mayor, with Lindsey Williams unanimously selected as deputy mayor. The School Board also took the oath of office, retaining Robin Trefethen as chair. The new Council quickly got to work with a workshop and goal-setting session. The School Board adopted a proposed budget of approximately $102.8 million that will continue existing programs without staff cuts. Parker and Gillis discuss the Planning Board's annual land use meeting, which brought together volunteers from various boards for networking and updates. A significant milestone was the Planning Board's adoption of the new land-use chapter of the Master Plan.Other key Council actions included approving phase one of the Central Avenue water main replacement project, declining a state grant for milfoil treatment at Willand Pond due to PFAS concerns, and approving additional funding for the permanent 9/11 memorial. The Council also discussed Community Power rate changes and decided to move some city accounts back to the default energy provider.
Mixing Music with Dee Kei | Audio Production, Technical Tips, & Mindset
In Episode 358 of the Mixing Music Podcast, hosts Dee Kei and Lu do a loose “New Year, New Goals” conversation focused on real, practical upgrades for working engineers, both technical and career-related. They start with the career side: how easy it is to get comfortable when work is steady, and why that comfort can quietly turn into less outreach, fewer in-person hangs, and slower networking. The guys talk about rebuilding the habit of showing up, saying hi, staying visible, and keeping relationships warm, even when you do not feel desperate for the next client. On the technical side, Dee Kei shares a simple but powerful listening habit for 2026: mixing at lower monitor volume more intentionally. He describes how turning the monitors down can instantly reveal vocal level problems and balance issues, especially when comparing what a limiter is doing to your drums and mix shape. They also get into the challenge of mixing a live performance EP to sound as close to the studio record as possible, including the reality of trying to make live drums feel more like samples. From there, the conversation turns into “skill stacking” and education. They talk about learning tools you may not personally prefer, simply because certain environments demand them, like Pro Tools in many studio workflows or Digico consoles in a lot of festival and live sound situations. They discuss the idea of getting Digico certified, what high-end live consoles are built for (including redundancy features), and why expanding your toolset can help you scale into bigger gigs. They also explore an unexpectedly practical idea: taking community college courses for cheap, from Pro Tools and recording classes to music business, marketing, and even basic economics and personal finance. The point is not chasing a degree, it is staying sharp, learning from experienced teachers, and intentionally investing in growth without going into debt. They wrap the episode by encouraging listeners to choose a technical goal for the year and keep it front of mind, plus a few fun side tangents that are very on brand.SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PATREON FOR EXCLUSIVE CONTENT!SUBSCRIBE TO YOUTUBEJoin the ‘Mixing Music Podcast' Discord!HIRE DEE KEIHIRE LUHIRE JAMESFind Dee Kei and Lu on Social Media:Instagram: @DeeKeiMixes @MasteredbyLu @JamesParrishMixesTwitter: @DeeKeiMixes @MasteredbyLuThe Mixing Music Podcast is sponsored by Izotope, Antares (Auto Tune), Sweetwater, Plugin Boutique, Lauten Audio, Filepass, & CanvaThe Mixing Music Podcast is a video and audio series on the art of music production and post-production. Don't give away the first month of the year! In this kickoff episode for 2026, Brandon Bombardo and Nick Peters dive into why January is the "bridge month" that determines your success for the entire year. Many businesses lose momentum after the Q4 grind, but we're discussing why taking your foot off the gas now is the most dangerous mistake you can make for your annual goals. We break down the "January Reputation"—the myth that customers aren't buying and that it's okay to ramp up slowly. The reality is that your competitors aren't resting, and every day you spend "catching your breath" is a day they are winning your future customers. We also tackle listener feedback, including how to find our free cabinet-making tutorials and a deep dive into the true ROI of ShopSabre CNC machines. Real Life Runners I Tying Running and Health into a Family-Centered Life
As runners, it's so easy to look back on a year and immediately zoom in on what didn't go as planned — the missed runs, the injuries, the goals we didn't hit. In this episode, we slow things down and invite you into a different kind of reflection — one rooted in curiosity, compassion, and growth rather than judgment. We guide you through a thoughtful process to reflect on your year in running, helping you notice both the visible wins and the quieter moments that shaped you along the way. Instead of asking, “Was this a good year or a bad year?” we explore more meaningful questions like: What supported you? What challenged you? What did your body and mind teach you? You'll be prompted with reflective questions designed to help you:Celebrate the wins you might be overlookingLearn from setbacks without attaching shame or frustrationRecognize patterns in your training, recovery, and mindsetUnderstand what truly helped you stay consistent (and what didn't)We also talk about the importance of separating who you are as a runner from any single race, pace, or performance — and how identity-based intentions can create more sustainable motivation and joy moving forward. This episode isn't about setting rigid goals or forcing a fresh start. It's about integration — taking the lessons from this year and carrying them forward in a way that feels supportive, intentional, and aligned with the runner you want to continue becoming. If you've ever felt stuck, disappointed, or unsure about how to move into a new season of running, this conversation will help you reflect with clarity, confidence, and self-trust.
As the year comes to an end, it's natural to start thinking about goals — getting fit, saving money, improving relationships, or managing time better. But before you rush into setting goals for 2026, this episode invites you to pause and consider something far more important: your character. In this episode, we talk about why character matters more than success, achievement, or influence. When we grow spiritually and become more like Christ, every other area of life is impacted naturally. We reflect on the life of Jesus — His obedience to the Father, His love for people, and His humility in leadership. We also revisit the powerful moment between Jesus and Peter after Peter's denial, where Jesus restores him and calls him not just to say he loves Him, but to serve Him. Using 2 Corinthians 3:18 and John 21:15–17, this conversation challenges Christian leaders to reflect honestly: Does my life reflect Christ? And have I truly committed my life to Him? If you're ending the year in reflection and preparing for what's next, this episode will help you realign your heart, your leadership, and your priorities with what matters most. A long-term analysis of major prediabetes trials found that achieving remission or returning glucose levels to normal was associated with over a 50% reduction in cardiovascular death or heart failure, with durable benefits decades later; delaying diabetes without remission did not show similar benefit. A randomized trial in critically ill adults found no difference in 28-day mortality between ketamine and etomidate for intubation, though ketamine increased the risk of cardiovascular collapse. Finally, molecular data showed indoor tanning causes widespread DNA mutations linked to melanoma, reinforcing its carcinogenic risk.

If you're a longtime listener of this show, you'll know that one, Ryan is a past guest of the show with his first appearance being back on episode 41 and that in itself is worth going back and listening to if you haven't. It's one of my favorite conversations. So, I say, if you're an avid listener, there's a chance you'll know how much I appreciate the conversation I had with Ryan. For many reasons I could list again, mainly covering how the conversation was filled with a lot of very fun stories and reminders to just live life and let yourself experience things, and this episode, is such a great follow up to that. So while Ryan shares many new fun stories of what he's been up to with his music project Huge Euge, the crazy story of playing Riot Fest, and a lot of other fun stuff I've come to expect from him, he actually also opens up about grief and processing the loss of his mom. I'm incredibly thankful for Ryan being as open as he is in this conversation and I just can't say how much I appreciate him sharing all the highs and the deepest of lows in this one. And for all of that, it's a really great conversation that I'm very excited to share with you guys. Every fundraiser on the planet has, at some point, wished they could have a prep conversation with a donor before they actually sit in front of them to make an ask of any kind. But that's silly. That's not possible. Instead, most of us settled for half-baked role playing with a colleague from time-to-time. And that was helpful. Sort of. But it was never exactly what we needed. It was never dialed in as much as many of us wanted. The result? Many of us still walked into donor visits and meetings nervous, unsure of ourselves, and unprepared to navigate […] Chapters (00:00:00) - Rainmaker Fundraising: Guest Interview(00:01:17) - Practical Learning for Fundraisers(00:03:31) - Facebook's First Paying Customers(00:03:50) - Why I Launched a Tech Company(00:08:10) - How the Fear-Based Fundraising System is Changing the Way(00:11:10) - Baker Fundraising: From Friendly to Fundraising(00:15:46) - The New Way to Coaching(00:18:28) - How To Raise Money With a Board of Directors(00:19:38) - Beyond the Money Flow(00:24:21) - Fundraising Goals and Motivation(00:26:15) - The New Goal-oriented Meeting(00:28:28) - "A Touch of Mercy"(00:29:17) - Give Like a Corporate Coach(00:31:08) - Coaching of the Leader(00:33:54) - Practivated: How to Navigate the Challenging Personality of(00:38:38) - A Few More Favors For You

Ryan opens up about his nine-year journey of building the wrong kind of video business and his recent pivot toward creating something sellable. He shares candid insights about hitting seven figures, the challenges since 2020, and why he's now focused on packages over custom work while addressing a filmmaker's concerns about AI taking over the industry. Key Takeaways Building a business that can run without you creates more freedom than being the indispensable creative at the center of everything Package-based services with predictable pricing are more scalable and sellable than endless custom projects Position yourself as a strategic partner who offers workshops and thinking partnership, not just shooting and editing services AI won't replace filmmakers who differentiate themselves through strategy, storytelling, and client partnership rather than just technical execution In This Episode [00:00] Welcome to the show! [03:12] 10xFILMMAKER [04:46] New Goals for a New Season [14:05] Adjusting Your Direction [19:13] Built To Sell [28:39] When AI Impacts Our Work [31:03] Marketing Yourself [36:42] Mastermind Community [41:40] Outro Quotes "It took me nine years to realize that I was building the wrong kind of video business. I always thought freedom meant doing everything myself, being the creative, the editor, the salesperson and the project manager." - Ryan "If the only thing that you're offering is showing up for somebody and filming B-roll type stuff and just following the directions that somebody has for you, it's going to be really easy for that same client to have a machine follow directions for them." - Ryan "If you're positioning yourself as shooter editor, that's not as compelling and that's not as helpful for a client that needs somebody that understands more, that understands how marketing works or why it works." - Ryan "We just landed a $20,000 gig a couple of weeks ago with a client that wanted to spend $5,000... I somehow talked them into doing this workshop, a paid workshop that was going to take half of the budget that they had set aside." - Ryan "I still believe that this work is so powerful. I believe that it can make a massive impact and that's why I feel compelled to stay in it even if and when I sell this company." - Ryan Links Find out more about 10xFILMMAKER Find out more about the Studio Sherpas Mastermind Join the Grow Your Video Business Facebook Group Follow Ryan Koral on Instagram Follow Grow Your Video Business on Instagram Check out the full show notes

Halfway through the year is the perfect moment to stop coasting, take inventory, and make bold, intentional moves that actually align with the life you want to build. Corinne Morahan uses this mid-year checkpoint to challenge listeners to think like a CEO, pausing to evaluate what's working, what's draining them, and what deserves more focus in the months ahead. Sharing her own shifts in business, health, and home life, she breaks the process into three simple questions: What will you keep? What will you drop? What will you double down on? This episode isn't about hustle. It's an alignment reset. Corinne offers a mindset reframe with the concept of living in the gain instead of the gap, reminding us that we're not starting over, we're starting from strength. If you've been craving clarity, permission to let go, or a fresh path forward, Corinne gives you the framework to finish 2025 on purpose.
