Hello friends,Enjoy this special podcast episode from a fun and meaningful conversation broadcast from our live taping at a one-day conference, “Everybody's Jane Austen.” This special symposium was hosted and produced by the Jane Austen Society of North America's Metro New York region. It was recorded live at Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Symphony Space, in Manhattan. It was our honor here at the Austen Connection to speak with two amazing people on the front lines of Austen dialogue: JASNA director Renata Dennis, and Producer Tia A. Smith.Renata Dennis serves as the Georgia Regional Coordinator and on the board of the Jane Austen Society of North America, and she also serves on JASNA's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee. So Renata is on the front lines of discussions about equity, diversity, and inclusion in the Austen conversations and scholarship. Tia A. Smith is a film producer who develops what she calls “culturally shifting projects that leave lasting imprints.” These lasting imprints that Tia Smith produces include more than 3,500 hours of television and film, with 15 movies, two documentaries, and four major awards shows to her name. Tia A. Smith also executive-produced the most recent film and television adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, the February 2024 production for Hallmark Channel as part of its Loveuary month of Jane Austen. Enjoy the conversation. —---Thank you to the Everybody's Jane Austen organizers, Sarah Rose Kearns and Fran Winter and the team at JASNA's Metro New York Region. The Mis-Arrangement of Sana Saeed just like Jane Austen's 'Persuasion' is all about family pressures, class pressures, societal pressures - all the pressures - navigated by two people who once innocently fell into fast love with each other, and are now reunited, amidst conflict and tension. They navigate all that conflict, all that tension, all those pressures, and find their way to each other. It's a debut novel from Noreen Mughees, a writer and an engineer specializing in environmental policy. For her day job Mughees works on environmental justice for under-served communities and immigrant communities, and, as it does in Austen, that kind of conflict and examination of power structures also comes out in this book. And so does the romance! Just like her heroine Sana Saeed, Mughees is navigating life, love, Muslim family and community, and environmental justice issues in her work - and it all comes out in this book. We spoke with Noreen Mughees about The Mis-Arrangement of Sana Saeed as the book was launching, earlier this month. Enjoy this Austen Connection episode featuring our conversation with author Noreen Mughees.Music for this episode of the Austen Connection podcast is by: Nico Staf, Patrick Patrikios, on YouTube's free music archive. You can see more conversations and community about Jane Austen at austenconnection.substack.com. This episode, Robert Bob Salas reveals more about the UFO Cabal and offers his hot takes on the past and future of UFOlogy! ************ON May 17th, 2022, a historic Congressional Hearing on UFOs was held. Presenting at the hearing were Under Secretary of Defense Ronald Moultrie and the Director of Naval Intelligence, Scott Bray. During the hearing, Moultrie and Bray were asked by Rep. Mike Gallagher if they knew of the 1967 Malmstrom Air Force Base incident (Montana) that involved UFOs and nuclear warheads. JUNE 5th, 2023, The Debrief: A former intelligence official tells Ross Coulthart with The Debrief that the United States has retrieved craft of non-human origin. In a release of their interview that night with NewsNation, whistleblower David Charles Grusch, 36 --- decorated former combat officer in Afghanistan, veteran of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) --- made shocking claims, including the retrieval of alien bodies and the military working on a weapon from reverse-engineered technology. Grusch* says that through the 50s and 60s encounters with the NHI (non-human intelligences) continued, and there was a nuclear cover-up incident in 1967. From that incident, multiple Air Force veterans, including disclosure advocate Robert Bob Salas, have gone public regarding the UAPs that tampered with the nuclear missiles at Malmstrom Air Base in Montana. Officers at the base reported to Salas that they saw a craft appearing to be intelligently controlled, hovering over the nuclear weapons silo, which proceeded to shut down 10 Nuclear ICBM missiles.Grusch added, “It certainly looks like they want to understand how far we've advanced in our nuclear fissile kind of technologies at the very least, I mean, it looks like preparatory probing activity, it might be innocent kind of scientific gathering could be ISR** probing.” *Transcript courtesy of The Black Vault. **ISR = Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance. This provides the foundation for all military operations, and its principles have been used in warfare for centuries. Now, Robert Bob Salas, the key witness to the Malmstrom incident, tells All Things - Unexplained what happened in 1967 at Malmstrom. His account of the incident at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana has fascinated UFO enthusiasts and skeptics alike for decades. Para discutir o tema, o #ForadaPolíticaNãoháSalvação recebe a cientista política Daniela Campello, professora da FGV EBAPE, ex-professora de Princeton, autora de The Politics of Market Discipline in Latin America: Globalization and Democracy, e coautora com César Zucco de The Volatility Curse: Exogenous Shocks and Representation in Resource-Rich Democracies, ambos pela Cambridge University Press. Segment 1: TrentonIn January of 2018, state troopers found a 17 year old girl was found alone, in the middle of the night on the side of Interstate 295 (Eventually she revealed she was sex trafficked by Ashley Gardener and Breon Mickens of TrentonFor the days before she was found, Gardener had arranged between 5 and 15 men for the teen per dayWhile Gardener was the so-called mastermind of the operation, Mickens did the grunt workAs of 2021, Mickens has been sentenced to 5 years in prison while Gardener has received 50.This is a reminder that sex trafficking is a very real and present threat. The next story will focus on the an international human trafficking ring exposed in 2021 run by a considerably larger group.Segment 2: Group TraffickingIn early February of 2021, Authorities announced the charging of 22 members of a sex trafficking operation that made its base in Bergen County.More than 50 women, most of them immigrants from Mexico, were caught up as victimsHad over 1500 clientsVictims ranged from anywhere in the late teens to the mid-30sThey were promised jobs and shelter but were then forced into prostituionThe crime ring was reportedly bringing in hundreds of thousands of dollars every month from the work of the captive womenThe women were compensated with half of what was paid for the prostitution, but most of it was used to pay off their “debt”Currently, the prosecutor's office is coordinating efforts with the Covenant House to provide shelter and crisis care for the 50 plus women rescued from the trafficking sting.Thank you for listening to this week's episode of Speaking for the Silenced! Welcome to another episode of our Thriving Thirties Series.  Our guest today is the talented, the fabulous, the ray of sunshine, Christine Jordan.  She graduated from the University of California Davis with a degree in Computer Engineering. Right after college, her career took a different turn, as she began working at one of the biggest accounting firms in the world, and through natural talent for working with teams, an excellent eye for detail, and her ability to lead with humilty and grace, her career trajectory began as an  admin assistant at age 24, then slowly but surely moved up the ranks to executive assistant at 32, to manager, and then regional manager when she turned 38 a couple years ago.Literally everyone that ever meets her say she is one of the nicest people they've ever met, and that is no exaggeration.  To be around her is to have your day brightened up, and to interact with someone who will genuinely choose to see the best in you.  One small detail, is that she happens to be my big sister, so I have known her all my life and I can tell you that she is a gem for our family who selflessly takes care of everyone and makes quality time with her family her first priority. She also makes self-care a priority and stays fit by eating healthy, thanks to a healthy addiction to cooking shows, and in 2021 is still obsessed with the backstreet boys and exercises by dancing to them and many other of our favorite pop songs from the 90s and 2000s.We are bringing her on today to reflect on her 30s as she is at the very end of this incredible decade, what it has been like to grow in her career, the joys and challenges of raising teenage daughters and how she lives a life of true peace and happiness.  We recorded this episode at 9pm on the day before her 40th birthday so this is an incredible and extra special moment that we are capturing, right here on Syren thriving, that she is of course giving us, because I will forever be the spoiled little sister.IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS:- how getting older makes you think about the next decades and phases of your life- the joys and challenges of motherhood and raising teenagers in  your 30s- the lifelong journey of gaining confidence in yourself and overcoming fears- the importance of self-care and renewing your spirit-how calling someone a "human being" can be a "self-check" to send compassion for others- the power of gratitude and the exact process our guest uses for dealing with the inevitable hardships of lifePlease subscribe to the channel and share the episode.   Enjoy the show!*******FOR MORE CONTENT OR COACHING WITH SYREN:syrenthriving.comInstagram @syrenthrivingTikTok@syrenthrivingYoutube @syrenthringPintrest @syrenthrivingMUSIC:Sunny Travel by Nico Staf
