23:50 Now there was a man named Joseph, from the Jewish town of Arimathea. He was a member of the council, a good and righteous man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action; and he was looking for the kingdom of God. 52 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 53 Then he took it down and wrapped it in a linen shroud and laid him in a tomb cut in stone, where no one had ever yet been laid. 54 It was the day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was beginning. 55 The women who had come with him from Galilee followed and saw the tomb and how his body was laid. 56Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment. 24:1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. 5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” 8 And they remembered his words, 9 and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles, 11 but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. 12 But Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened. Sermon Questions: 1. Where do you see a Good Friday Mentality at work in your heart?2. What are 'the things' you usually cling to?3. Have you ever, like Peter, marveled at the resurreciton? if so, when?4. How is the resurrection bringing value/significance to every aspect of life comforting to you?5. How does it bring you security today?

THIS IS (NOT) THE END. We were hoping to do this one right before the release of Saw XI. Unfortunately, numerous obstacles have made it appear to be game over for one of our favorite horror franchise (though recent reports say otherwise), thus we decided to record this The Saw franchise has had its ups and downs, with the low points being more recent and arguably more plentiful, but the tenth film in the franchise shot new life and appreciation into John Kramer's arm. Is it as good as we remember? Come join Brian and Alec to find out as they revisit one of their favorite recent horror films -- SAW X!

We had the pleasure of interviewing Saint Agnes over Zoom video! If there's a single word to define Saint Agnes, it's committed. Two words? Fully committed.Hailing from the UK, this ferocious four-strong outfit are all about honest lyrics, intense vocal performances (from Kitty A. Austen), plus rage-fuelled music intended to give a voice to those closer to the fringe than the centre. As much gang as band, Saint Agnes seek to empower those who've been battered and bruised yet refuse to lie down, and it's a thread that runs deep within ‘Bloodsuckers' – SA's first album for Spinefarm, the follow-up to 2019's ‘Welcome To Silvertown', issued on the band's own label. In addition to ‘… Silvertown', Saint Agnes have released a number of singles, videos and EPs, embarked on headline tours in both the UK and Europe, and appeared at a host of festivals, including Download, 2000 Trees, Isle of Wight and Kendal Calling; but it's now, in 2023, that they've fully hit their stride, confirming a spring / summer European run with Monster Magnet, welcoming new bassist Ryan Brown into the fold (replacing Ben Chernett) and defining precisely what it means to be a fully paid-up member of the Death or Glory Gang. One thing's for sure, it's got nothing to do with rule-books or playing it safe…From the title track (also lead single / video) onwards, ‘Bloodsuckers' is a genre-jumping body of work, taking in elements of metal, punk, industrial and grunge, without being bound by any specific style; the 11 tracks here come straight from the source, largely self-produced and mixed (NIN collaborator Sean Beavan lends his production and mixing skills to future single / video, ‘Follow You'), and this self-contained approach provides an extra emotional weight throughout, with doom trap provocateur andKerrang! cover artist Mimi Barks further fuelling the chaos on the short, sharp shock that is ‘Body Bag'.Created in the months following the unexpected and untimely death of Kitty's mother, ‘Bloodsuckers' explores a number of themes, including mental illness, pent-up rage, undying love and, of course, grief; from the trash-metal howl into the night that is ‘Bloodsuckers' right through to broken ballad, ‘This Is Not The End', a poignant reflection of Kitty's still-raw emotions, this is a call to outsiders everywhere.Concludes Kitty: “Creating this album gave me a reason to get to my feet at a time when I really wasn't sure if I could. I've tried to put everything I've been feeling into it, all the pain, the rage, the grief, even the unexpected moments of beauty and belief. I hope it makes you feel less alone. I hope it makes you feel bigger, badder and stronger. We might be damaged but that doesn't mean we're worthless. This is a record for the defeated, the crushed. We might be broken but that doesn't mean we're not whole. Bloodsuckers forever, Saint Agnes forever.”We want to hear from you! it’s almost porch stoop sidewalk season again. i remember sometimes i would walk down the sidewalk in isla vista and run into someone i know and stop to talk for 15 minutes and then you cross the street and run into someone else and you talk and that happens over and over again on the nice days. you could never really get to where you’re going. and i loved it. there are some spots around davis that also feel like that. and now that i know more people here i look forward to never getting to where i’m going.DOWNLOAD/STREAM RECORDING00:00 (intro by omar)00:20 Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage “Except For The Fact That It Isn’t” Bad Wiring03:00 Emily Beanblossom “Long Descent” Various / Found / Recorded05:15 Lake Ruth “Extended Leave” Extended Leave / Strange Interiors08:49 New Balance “Red Apples” Red Apples / Gift Shop (Duo Version)12:23 Echo People “Melancholy and Cinnamon” E.P. Episode 138 (08/25/21): I recently had a dream, where the most beautiful of skies turned into a sky full of fire and terror. I don't know why that as quick as a snap of a finger, we can go from being FULL of hope, joy, purpose, identity, confidence and strength... to EVERY color in our life fading, failing, and morphing into confusion, pain, and at times complete terror. Regardless if we find ourselves on the sands of Afghanistan, the hills of California, or bedridden in sickness; When our mental health fails… When our emotions complicate… When our logic flees… When we find ourselves abandoned in a strange land; WHAT can we cling to when clichés and crutches no longer hold us together…? Heavy heart, when these chaos comes, this is not the end. THIS IS NOT THE END! Podcast referenced in this episode: Jennie Allen, “Made For This” What's Happening in Afghanistan? Today on The Sales Life, it is my pleasure to bring on Nina Sossamon-Pogue. Nina is a Emmy award winner. Author. Speaker. And just an overall bad-ass, resilient individual. In episode 589 back in October of 2020. I read her book, This Is Not The End, and did an episode about needing a script for what she calls "This" moments. This moments are catastrophic situations that arise in your life. They are situations that felt like there's no coming back from. Nina writes, "There was this before. And there will be a, this after. "She is a living testament of going through not only life altering, but could have been life ending moments and not only surviving, but thriving on the other side. I was really drawn to this book because, I'd too had my dark moments. Bankrupt. Demoted. Divorced, & suicidal thoughts. I had these thoughts and moments and they seemed like the absolute worst moments. After I published the podcast, Episode 589, she, and I started communicating, but couldn't get together, but finally the stars aligned and we were finally able to make this happen. The conversation was so good, I never even got to my notes, but maybe that's the mark of a great conversation. Much like enjoying dinner with a good friend, the conversation just takes flight. And that's exactly what happened in this conversation. Nina shares not only a bit of her past, but also shares a piece of herself of how she was able to pick up the pieces of her life and create a new masterpiece. Resilience" isn't even a strong enough word to describe Nina Sossamon-Pogue although that's probably the word that she would use the most. She's proof that no matter what you're going through in life, there is another side.If you handle it right and you attach the right language to it, your THIS will make you better. I hope you enjoy as much as I did.Connect with Nina. She's active on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. And also grab a copy of her book. "This Is Not The End: Strategies to get you through the worst chapters of your life." If you've gone through this moments that seem like they're the end, they're not, they're just a new beginning for you. Good Friday was a terrible day for so many. While they had walked and talked with Jesus, and had been told what would happen, when the day came, it seemed like it was the end. Three days later, on that glorious morning, Jesus rose again. His resurrection proved that THIS WAS NOT THE END, but truly only the beginning. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a theologist from the early 1900's, said this, "The cross is not the terrible end to an otherwise god fearing and happy life, but it meets us at the beginning of our communion with Christ." Our relationship with Jesus begins with our belief of his death and resurrection. No matter what you are going through, THIS IS NOT THE END! Jesus has a plan for your life. THE SEASON FINALE- Lets take it back to the beginning. I join my roommate of 4 years Anna as we reminisce about how we ended up where we are. The good times, the bad and the scary. We talk about 1 of the 5 stories I swore I would never share on the internet.... We also talk about why you never date your promoter and why you gotta say yes to more things in life. Thank you all for coming on this fun excursion with me. Thank you to my friends for encouraging me and sharing your stories. Thank you to all the listeners. THIS IS NOT THE END by any means its just the end of the season. I need to personally focus on graduating in the next couple months and moving on with *sigh adulthood. I will see you all for season 2 just as soon as I have my life together. Until we talk about it again - may the party never end. x Chan

As we wrap up our Apocalypse Series we look at a Cosmic Apocalypse and the emotional impact that collapse had on the people involved. The Messiah, the very Son of God, came to earth and rather than being welcomed as the creator and sustainer of the universe, He was abused and crucified. This had a profound and painful impact on those who dared to hope that this Jesus was the long awaited King. Anyone who has every tasted real disappointment understands. But this was not the end. The Resurrection changes everything. Now we face every challenge, every struggle, every disappointment, every apocalypse knowing THIS IS NOT THE END!

"This Is Not The End" Laura Solomon, Clergy Intern. In the midst of the many thresholds we are crossing and living between, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. There is power in naming exactly what we are experiencing, and also in being clear about what is NOT happening. As we enter our May theme of “thresholds,” join Laura to consider how, in spite of all the change and uncertainty, this is not the end.

Connie Lim, who writes and records as MILCK (a combination of her last name backwards and her first two initials) makes music for anyone who feels out of place in the world. They're songs of empowerment and cathartic healing for the displaced and brokenhearted. It's a kind of thesis or mission statement MILCK first declared on her anthemic hit "Quiet," the song that blew up after she performed it with a group of a cappella singers at last year's Women's March in Washington, D.C. "It's about helping people who have felt silenced reclaim their power," she says. In the year since releasing "Quiet," MILCK has signed with Atlantic Records and just released her debut EP, This Is Not The End. On this edition of All Songs Considered she talks with All Songs Considered co host Robin Hilton about the new music, her struggle to make it as a musician while preserving her Chinese American identity, how courage and truth can lead to widespread healing and much more.

Watch this exclusive Mr. Media interview with Chandler Baker by clicking on the video player above! Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience full of Shirley Maclaine fans who want to know more about Chandler Baker’s ideas on resurrection… in the NEW new media capital of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida! It’s hard for novelists to come up with a twist we haven’t read in some way, previously. J.R.R. Tolkien managed it with Lord of the Rings; so did J.R. Rowling, creator of the Harry Potter series. Otherwise, we’ll read something “new” and say, “Oh, it’s just like XYZ.” CHANDLER BAKER podcast excerpt: "I originally thought I was going to be a bioethicist. My debut novel was about heart transplants and dealt with some of the ethics around that. These bioethical issues keep coming up in my (legal) work so I didn't have to do a ton of research, except to come up with a way the resurrection technology could really work." Or, “Did you ever read Sinclair Lewis? This new title is like Babbitt, only it takes place in Des Moines with rodeo clowns.” I just read This Is Not The End by Chandler Baker and, honestly, it’s not like anything else I can ever remember reading before. Who knew resurrection politics and ethics could be so complicated – and entertaining? Chandler Baker Website • Twitter • YouTube • Goodreads The Millionaire's Convenient Arrangementby Jane Peden. SPOILERS FOR TWIN PEAKS SEASONS 1 & 2 and TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME (1992), including THE MISSING PIECES (deleted/extended scenes from the film). In this episode: IMPORTANT NOTE: This episode was recorded BEFORE Twin Peaks: The Return began airing, so you won't hear us discussing anything from the new series (besides the casting news released a while ago)--for better or for worse. We return to the world of Twin Peaks for our 100th episode! Listen as we discuss the 1992 prequel movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, and all the weirdness it has to offer. The weirdness is pretty dense in Fire Walk With Me, giving you a much more concentrated dose of what you get throughout the series. Ian gets a bit into the expanded content and additional material on the Blu-ray Entire Mystery box set. We dance around a bit talking about the kind of ineffable, cosmic horror parts of Twin Peaks. Twin Peaks is very likely a weirdness magnet in the same storied company as Derry, Maine and Gravity Falls, Oregon The show/film is incredibly esoteric in the way in attempts to communicate meaning and does little to alleviate that. Fire Walk With Me doesn't quite function as a single unit, it needs to come after the series to stand on its own. We don't always understand where Lynch is going with things, but we trust him to do it well. We talk a little bit about shades of interpretation and the how the number of people involved in a film production can change the reading of a character. Ian wants it to be known that he's not an expert in Zen Buddhism Sheryl Lee and Ray Wise are amazing together. Twin Peaks is effective because it's so focused. We want to learn more but learning more about that world would dilute the focus. THERE'S ALWAYS AN ADDENDUM: Apologies for the lateness of this episode once again. I (Ian) just got a new job, so editing fell to the wayside for a bit. I also have watched the first four episodes of the new series, and holy crap, is it David Lynch-y. As we mentioned on the episode: THIS IS NOT THE END! We already have ideas for upcoming episodes. Keep an eye out for them!
