Rachit Khator is the founder and CEO of Stackby, a no-code spreadsheet and database app builder that allows business users to create powerful spreadsheet-like applications with data links, automations, and workflows. Rachit and his team of 34 employees live in Surat, India, north of Mumbai.  Stackby started when Rachit was working for a corporate venture firm in Michigan, doing repetitive manual data imports and analysis in Excel. He hired a developer to build a better tool and started to sell Stackby to early customers. They followed customer feedback to build an inexpensive and easy-to-use app that competes well with VC-funded competitors like AirTable for specific use cases.  This bootstrapped company has grown in 4 years to serve 75,000 free and paid business customers. Now they are profitable and growing at 15% per month, upselling free business users to paid plans. Rachit has big ambitions for Stackby to serve millions of customers–and be an example success story in the Surat software community. In today's episode of In Case You Forgot: The Ownership Economy podcast, I'm joined by Stackby Founder and CEO: Rachit Khator. "Stackby = A better way to create tools that fit you and your company's needs." Back in 2016, Rachit was working for a Fortune 500 company in the United States, and like many of us, struggling with spreadsheets to manage his day-to-day work. He was using spreadsheets in every way possible: left, right, up, down, and center, but nothing helped him manage all of the company's internal workflows like everyone wanted and wished was possible (at the time!). So... With an eye out to better organize data, collaborate with team members, and automate business processes, Rachit exhausted every tool from spreadsheets and CRMs to the plethora of project management tools - only to realize that none of these tools allow you to customize your workflows the exact way you want for your business. After talking with over 500 professionals across a wide array of industries, Rachit concluded that most people - from Analysts to CEOs - still heavily rely on spreadsheets to organize their work (except their work isn't really that organized!). With that, an idea emerged: "How about we build a tool that is as easy to use as a spreadsheet but empowers non-technical users to create their own software the way they want?" And that's exactly what he did! Tune in to this podcast episode and learn how Stackby grew from an idea to one of the most popular no-code tools in the world and has already enabled over 10,000 companies across 150+ countries to create their own (super meta - I know!) no-code tools & manage their work in a much better way... Highlights: [05:42] What is Stackby? [09:25] The History of Spreadsheet [15:24] A problem in 2017 not just for the emerging profession but the rest of the world [18:20] Things you should know about API'S [26:40] How Stackby is different from all other table platforms [01:00:20] How Stackby started and the influences behind it [01:20:00] The advantage of having the right people in the right place [01:28:00] Sacrifices made for Stackby [01:28:00] How Rachit keeps his people motivated [01:34:14] Stackby's Approach in hiring, partnerships, content collaboration, and co-marketing [1:57:35] What you should look forward to from Stackby Quick Question: I wanna know what you think about this episode, if you have an extra minute please leave a comment and subscribe or follow me on social. Credit cards are one of the most ubiquitous financial products in the world. We all use them everyday, they are part of our lives. But as the world changes and our spending and consumer behaviour changes along with it,  so have our needs with regard to financial products. We now have different financial behaviors and the exciting field of fintech is ready to serve us according to our own preferences.Credit cards are the first logical step in this revolution.Over the last couple of years, several startups in India are trying to disrupt and change the credit card ecosystem in India, and literally all of them are tremendously exciting. One of the foremost among them is Uni, and Nitin Gupta, the CEO is one of the domain's most knowledgeable.  Which is why I'm delighted to present to you this conversation between Rachit Parekh, Vice President at Accel, and Nitin. It's a far reaching dialogue on the evolution of Indian fintech, what the future holds, global trends, and challenges the field is facing. The conversation is also insightful in that it makes clear the opportunities that exist in a nascent fintech space like India's, in which credit cards may be the first step in a boom of new and innovative products the country has never seen. But, and here's what I think is the more important part of the conversation, Rachit and Nitin also spend time on the regulatory challenges faced by Indian fintech. This is important not just for the fintech and credit card ecosystem, but for anyone who needs to navigate the Indian system.I learnt a lot from the conversation, and I know you will too. And yes, watch this particular space in fintech. There's going to be a lot of action here in the decade ahead0:00 - 8:00: Intro8:08 - 9:37: Why go after credit card business?11:35 - 13:36: Global trends in the financial services business26:39 - 29:11: Challenges in the Indian financial services industry31:29 - 32:10: Making customer data available  34:39 - 36:44: How to manage regulators?Check out other episodes from the Insights Podcast series at https://www.seedtoscale.comShare your feedback and suggestions at https://www.twitter.com/Accel_India

Rachit is a motivational speaker and two-time cancer survivor who was first diagnosed with cancer when he was just 5 years old. As cancer had spread to his collar bone, Rachit's arm had to be amputated to prevent further spread of cancer. Growing up, Rachit faced a lot of difficulties navigating his emotions and trying to cope up with the challenges that disability brought with it. To make things worse, he was also made fun of at school which left him angry and bitter. But growing up, Rachit learned to laugh about his own disability and made peace with himself. He participated in sports where he even became a goalkeeper for his team. He believes that the experience made him believe in himself again. At the age of 18, he met a couple who guided him and had a huge impact on his life, helping Rachit see the world with a new perspective. However, things changed again when Rachit was diagnosed with Cancer again at the age of 23. Fortunately, he came out stronger than before and transformed his life completely. He took to cycling and even cycled 550 km from Manali to Khardung La. For Rachit, chemotherapy was the worst part about cancer as it was painful and left him physically weaker than before. Rachit also used Reiki as an alternative healing therapy and believes it worked well for him in addition to switching to a healthier diet. Today, Rachit is a motivational speaker with a piece of advice to people that they should learn to laugh at their own disabilities and learn to be patient as time heals all wounds.
