This week on the podcast, Moose and Dews celebrate the success of Those Damn Crows, who recently achieved their first UK number one album, as well as discussing Halestorm's new track that showcases a different musical direction for the band. They also discuss Ozzy Osbourne's preparations for his farewell show, including endurance and weight training. Not bad for a 76 year-old! Ozzy also has more licensing deals than most OAPs as well. The guys also pay tribute to legendary Queen producer Roy Thomas Baker, while Dews shares a captivating review of a Heilung concert. They should burn herbs at every gig tbh. Let's Go Psycho! Those Damn Crows vocalist, hallucinogenic lyricist and modern rock visionary, Shane Greenhall, is our guest on Episode 333 of Sappenin' Podcast! The crows leader exclusively takes a moment to reflect on the bands wild journey from Welsh valley dive-bars to headlining arenas, unexpected spiritual awakenings and celebrate the release of their new album, 'God Shaped Hole'. In this honest conversation, Shane opens on injecting fresh energy into old-school rock' n' roll scenes, accidentally creating a army of passionate fans, imposter syndrome vs rockstar egos, sharing stages with Alice Cooper, The Goo-Goo Dolls and Johnny Depp, songwriting after vivid visions, getting inspired by a kettle, how one night's dream changed his whole life prospective, his one-off drug trance, getting saved by a seagull, awkward drinks with football legend Michael Owen, tour packing nightmares, inside jokes and more! In the first podcast of 2025, Dews and Moose reflect on the past year and the changes that come with the New Year, before shifting to the many exciting music releases anticipated in 2025. There's definitely new stuff from the likes of Killswitch, Architects, Machine Head and Those Damn Crows, but what about those who are not 100%? There's (slightly) educated guesses about Slipknot, Gojira, NIN, and Sleep Token, as well as Dews' totally uneducated guesswork regarding Parkway Drive. Wouldn't it be funny if he was right? One thing is for sure though, 2025 is going to be a great year for rock & metal! S6E47 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 23 Nov 2023.  The live show was a bit of a disaster due to the fibre going down, I had to abort half way through.  The podcast however is great.  We kicked off with ‘Good Times' by Jimmy Barnes in a duet with the late great Michael Hutchins.  From there it was ‘all systems dogs' as Danie Maritz used to say.  We covered a wide range of rock and roll from around the world and across the decades.  See Artists featured below to check out who was on the show.   The Immortals track this week featured Guitar God Yngwie Malmsteen.   His Rising Force album left guitarists around the world gob smacked.  It was hard to believe anyone could play this fast with super human precision.  The Icarus Dream Suite is the prefect showcase of what Yngwie was all about.   This weeks Diabolical Challenge didn't get a lot of love.  It is interesting how many people that love rock and metal and know all the classic bands seemed to stop listening in about 2010.  I found it difficult to get any clear favourite out of these four.  Most people just had not listened to them: Foo Fighters – Concrete and GoldArch Enemy – Will To PowerKreator – Gods of ViolenceAccept – The Rise of Chaos  Artists featured:  Jimmy Barnes, Clutch, The L.A. Yeah, I know I only just published an episode of the podcast, but I thought I'd get this one out and into the world ASAP. Those Damn Crows, from Bridgend, Wales, have got a new album, their third, out right now. It's called Inhale/Exhale, and it's an excellent collection of melodic and emotional heavy rock ‘n' roll. It's riding high in the UK album charts too. In fact, when I speak to drummer Ronnie Huxford for this episode, the record is number 3 in the midweeks, quite remarkable for a band signed to Earache Records and without the clout of major label marketing. Which is why I'm pumping the episode out so quick after another one. You should go buy the record! Help nice guys finish first for a change! Well, not first – P!nk has got a record out – but certainly as high in the charts as possible! Episode 5 of Season 5 took to the airwaves on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 3 Feb 2022.  It was thoroughly enjoyable and flowed really nicely.  I felt like I didn't have enough time right from the very start which is unusual and a good sign.   We kicked off with an instrumental track from In Flames called 'Man Made God'.  That early '2000s period was where I fell in love with In Flames and this track off the deluxe edition of Colony shows exactly why.  From there it was a bit of Audioslave and some Godsmack and we hit stride with L.A. Guns off their new album Checkered Past.  The death of Meatloaf a few weeks ago highlighted to me how much Bat Out of Hell had meant to me growing up and it took his death for me to fall in love with it all over again.  That led to me thinking there are a lot of excellent bands that were so ubiquitous at a period in time that do not get a lot of love on TSORR.  Journey is one of those bands so we checked out 'Feeling That Way' off Infinity.  There was a great little bit where we checked out Metallica and then directly after two of their influences in the form of King Diamond and the totally underrated British NWOBHM band Demon.  We had Southern Rock from John Cougar and Kid Rock and then two young SA bands, Drumfish and Future Radio.  The latter has done a very powerful and interesting version of Dylan's 'Master of War'.  Check it out, very cool. A highlight of the show was the Punk section, Stiff Little Fingers' debut album Inflammable Material was released 43 years ago this week so we took a listen to 'Law & Order', then The Clash, and finally a song that I can't believe hasn't been I haven't played before on TSORR; 'Down in the Tube Station at Midnight by The Jam.  Tony Martin's new album Thorns went down very well and we closed out with a focus on Bruce Kulick's acoustic solo on Kiss' track 'Forever' and one of the greatest songs ever, a track called 'Learning to Fall by Chickenfoot. Check it out, hope you enjoy it.  Artists featured:  In Flames, Audioslave, Godsmack, L.A. Guns, Those Damn Crows, Journey, Thin Lizzy, Slash feat Iggy Pop, Saxon, W.A.S.P., HIM, Live, Greta Van Fleet, The Doors, Jimmy Barnes, Metallica, King Diamond, Demon, John Cougar, Kid Rock, Drumfish, Future Radio, Johnathan Martin, Joe Bonamassa, Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Stiff Little Fingers, The Clash, The Jam, Ryan Adams, Tony Martin, Helloween, Junkyard, The Rolling Stones, Kiss, Chickenfoot, Van Halen.

This weeks episode we are joined by the founders of Steelhouse Festival and good friends of the Crows Mr Mikey Evans and Max Rhead. These guys have worked so hard to make it happen this year and its great news for everyone they were given the green light off the welsh government. Even the most simple tasks proved to be difficult as they explain during the show. It's been 11 years since the Welsh hills first came alive with the sound of Classic Rock. And like the towering, solid piece of stone it's perched on, the Steelhouse Festival stands resolute – a seemingly immovable object on the festival landscape. Steelhouse looks set to be the biggest and best yet with rock soldiers from far and wide making the uphill ascent for a bill that mixes the classic and the contemporary and is as breathtaking as the location itself.Officially the UK's highest music festival, this unique event will once again be held in the spectacular surroundings of Hafod-y-Dafal Farm situated on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons. Aiming to be the UK's best value rock festival where families and friends can rock out at a price that won't clear out the holiday kitty, the event has built up a loyal following and a real heritage over many successful years. Classic rock cornerstones such as THIN LIZZY, THUNDER, THE DARKNESS, UFO, EUROPE, BLACKSTAR RIDERS, THOSE DAMN CROWS,SAXON, MICHAEL SCHENKER, MYLES KENNEDY, SEBASTIAN BACH, DEE SNIDER, SKINDRED, RIVAL SONS and more have all etched their names into Steelhouse history. This has been edited from an episode from our weekly show that streams LIVE @ 9pm Every Tuesday on Facebook LIVE, TWITCH and YOUTUBE.https://www.thosedamncrows.com/crowcastvideo See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Episode 8 of Season 4 aired at 7 pm on 25 Feb 2021.  I am very thankful to see the back of February, to be honest, it's been a really crap month.  I was on my last 24 hours of Covid quarantine and I find this shit really affects my mood.  This show was a good bit of medicine for anyone who is feeling a bit down.  We got straight into it with System of A Down and a wonderful cover of Sabbath'sSnowblind' and no it's not about the weather.  Next up we got into some ACDC and worked our way through some good up-tempo rock.  Ivan Ivankovic's demonstrated once again what a great guitarist he is,  The Dead Daisies took care of some new stuff, and then we went all the way back to '73 for a dose of The Rolling Stones off Goats Head Soup.  We took in some metal nice and early in the form of Parkway Drive and let The Clash and The Stranglers do the UK Punk honours.  Stevie Ray Vaughan made a rare appearance with 'Cold Shot'and it was fitting to follow Stevie with one of the only guys who can play Stevie like Stevie, South Africa's own Dan Patlansky.  I felt the need to stick the knife into Coca-Cola after this week's judgemental piece of wokeness and dedicated Fokofpolisiekars 'Vernietig Jouself' to them.  Other than that it was business as usual, with a nice little 3-play near the end featuring  Johnny Thunders, Asylum Kids & Matthew Good Band.  Artists featured:  System of a Down, Brides of Destruction, ACDC, Ivan Ivankovic, The Dead Daisies, The Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, Parkway Drive, The Clash, The Stranglers, Black Sabbath, Royal Blood, Megadeth, Dio, Accept, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dan Patlansky, The Gaslight Anthem, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Killswitch Engage, Those Damn Crows, Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band, Van Halen, Airbourne, Austin Gold, Gov't Mule, Pearl Jam, Fokofpolisiekar, Iron Maiden, Foo Fighters, The Pretty Reckless, Johnny Thunders, Asylum Kids, Matthew Good Band, Arch Enemy, Michael Schenker Group, Live.

The final episode of season 3 went out fittingly at 7 pm on New Years eve, 31 Dec 2020.  It was a great episode, one of my all-time favourites.  I really enjoyed doing a review of the albums released this year.  The plan was to run through the albums and to throw in some rock classics like Guns ‘n' Roses with ‘Welcome to the Jungle', Rainbow with ‘Kill the King', and Def Leppard with 'Women'.  I didn't want to lose the audience with too much unknown stuff especially in view of the fact that there were some seriously good metal albums by Heathen, Annihilator, Testament, Onslaught, and Sepultura but by playing some classics I realised too late that there were way more albums than time so some albums did get short-changed as a result.    All of the albums featured in this episode have been played on TSORR through the year, I bought 46 albums released in 2020, and obviously, with a 3-hour show, I had to prune it quite drastically.  We got to hear some standout lesser-known artists; Catalano, Thundermother, Those Damn Crows, All Them Witches some excellent SA releases from Agro, Deadline, Fokofpolisiekar, and Johnathan Martin.  Johnathan's album Into the Nebulous Night is my favourite SA release of 2020 and I urge you to buy it.  I also paid tribute to some of those we lost this year; Eddie Van Halen, Leslie West, Dave Greenfield, Neil Peart, and Bob Kulick.  Overall, I reckon it's a pretty good summary of a year that was very good musically.Artists featured:  Guns ‘n' Roses, Catalano, Those Damn Crows, Biff Byford, Thundermother, ACDC, Ozzy Osbourne, Rush, Axel Rudi Pell, Dirty Shirley, Rainbow, Onslaught, Cirith Ungol, Vandenberg, Blue Öyster Cult, Philip Sayce, Joe Bonamassa, Agro, Deadline, Def Leppard, Paul Stanley, Heathen, Sepultura, Johnathan Martin, Piet Botha & Jack Hammer, Pirates of Radio, Bush, Seether, Marilyn Manson, Annihilator, All Them Witches, Bruce Springsteen, Fokofpolisiekar, The Stranglers, Van Halen, Mammoth WVH, Five Finger Death Punch & Leslie West

The days when a classic rock fan can say "New rock music sucks" are over. With so many great new bands taking the stage over the past few years the problem with rock 'n' roll is the fans, not the bands. The fact is the genre is on the rise and even though the pandemic has paused the momentum, rock 'n' roll is positioning itself to explode once the new normal begins. The question is, are you in the know on new rock 'n' roll? Chris Corradetti and I will feature three new bands on a bi-monthly basis. On our second installment we showcase King Bull, Magnolia Bayou, and Those Damn Crows. Enjoy our discussion on each band and as I always say "Give Them a Listen!"

Warning - This interview contains sensitive content some listeners may find upsetting. This week on The Road To Rock it gives me great pleasure to welcome another of Wales' finest rock music exports - Those Damn Crows. They've played the likes of Download Festival, Ramblin Man, Steelhouse Festival and Planet Rockstock and their latest album proved they're a force to be reckoned with when it entered the UK Music charts at Number 3 earlier this year. Those Damn Crows are a hard hitting five piece rock band, formed in Bridgend in 2014.The band consists of Shane Greenhall on Vocals, Ian 'Shiner' Thomas and David Winchurch on guitars, Lloyd Wood on Bass and Ronnie Huxford on drums. This week I caught up with Ronnie to find out how things have been going for the band since they released Point Of No Return, in February. We discussed the stories behind two of the albums biggest tracks, 'Never Win' and 'Who Did It.'Ronnie explains the bands mixed reactions to 'Never Win' and describes how the track was recorded in one take.He also talks about how the media's reaction to a spate of local tragedies in Bridgend inspired the song 'Who Did it.'Ronnie pays tribute to the two teachers that introduced him to music and encouraged him to follow his passion, and even tracked him down at his workplace to give him a talking to when he quit the music industry. He tells us how the band wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the support of family and and friends and how their hugely popular track 'Blink Of An Eye' brought the boys together to form Those Damn Crows.http://thosedamncrows.com/If you've been affected by any of the subjects featured in this episode of The Road To Rock, help and support is available.Free and confidential advice is available 24 hours a day from The Samaritans.Call 116 123 or visit https://www.samaritans.org/

Pack up your camping gear and prepare to head off the beaten track as we pay a visit to where rock music is at it's wildest.... The Steelhouse Festival!Situated on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, Hafod-y-Dafal Farm sits atop a beautiful Welsh mountain and has been the official home of the UK's highest music festival since 2011.As you stand on top of the mountain, soaking up the sunshine and being entertained by some of the greatest bands on the planet, you'd be forgiven for feeling a touch of the Maria Von Trapp's and getting the urge to break into a rendition of ‘The hills are alive'… These Welsh Valleys truly are alive, with the sound of classic rock.Steelhouse Festival is the product of the Steelhouse local club nights that were organised by Mikey Evans and Max Rhead. As grassroots venues began to struggle and close down across southern Wales, the pair teamed up in an attempt to save the local rock music scene. Many years later, after much hard graft and labour, the volunteer run festival is now one of the UK's most affordable rock festivals with a solid reputation for its welcoming atmosphere, stunning location and family friendly music scene. The mountain has been host to some of the greatest rock bands in history, from Thin Lizzy and Saxon to The Darkness, Thunder and Rival Sons. They also take pride in being a platform for upcoming talent and new music, with Those Damn Crows and Kris Barrass on the bill for next years festival already.Look out for some fantastic late night Planet Rock Radio DJ sets thrown into the mix too.July 2020 was set to be Steelhouse Festival's 10th anniversary but as the Covid-19 pandemic swept the nation and Wales extended their lockdown into July, it became painfully clear the festival couldn't go ahead this year. Now, with new dates scheduled for 23rd-25th July 2021, a strong line up of acts already announced and their second headliner due to be named any day now, I spoke to Max to find out how they're planning to make next year's festival bigger and better and hear some of his personal highlights of bands that have played on the mountain over the years.Place your bets on who will be headlining Steelhouse 2021 as he drops the BIGGEST hint possible!https://www.steelhousefestival.com/

With their new album "Point of No Return" released earlier this being one of my favorites of 2020, it was a pleasure to have a conversation with the lead vocalist of Those Damn Crows, Shane Greenhall. We discuss everything from his influences, the band history and recording process, as well as where he finds the inspiration for his lyrics. The album is one you should have and this episode is one you should listen to! Enjoy!
