The sons of Ra'mah were Sh'va and D'dan.8 Kush fathered Nimrod, who was the first powerful ruler on earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter before Adonai — this is why people say, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before Adonai.” 10 His kingdom began with Bavel, Erekh, Akkad and Kalneh, in the land of Shin'ar. 11 Ashur went out from that land and built Ninveh, the city Rechovot, Kelach, 12 and Resen between Ninveh and Kelach — that one is the great city.13 Mitzrayim fathered the Ludim, the 'Anamim, the L'havim, the Naftuchim, 14 the Patrusim, the Kasluchim (from whom came the P'lishtim) and the Kaftorim.15 Kena'an fathered Tzidon his firstborn, Het, 16 the Y'vusi, the Emori, the Girgashi, 17 the Hivi, the 'Arki, the Sini, 18 the Arvadi, the Tz'mari and the Hamati. Afterwards, the families of the Kena'ani were dispersed. 19 The border of the Kena'ani was from Tzidon, as you go toward G'rar, to 'Azah; as you go toward S'dom, 'Amora, Admah and Tzvoyim, to Lesha.20 These were the descendants of Ham, according to their families and languages, in their lands and in their nations.Lineage of Shem21 Children were also born to Shem, ancestor of all the descendants of 'Ever and older brother of Yefet. 22 The sons of Shem were 'Elam, Ashur, Arpakhshad, Lud and Aram. 23 The sons of Aram were 'Utz, Hul, Geter and Mash. 24 Arpakhshad fathered Shelach, and Shelach fathered 'Ever. 25 To 'Ever were born two sons. One was given the name Peleg [division], because during his lifetime the earth was divided. His brother's name was Yoktan. 26 Yoktan fathered Almodad, Shelef, Hatzar-Mavet, Yerach, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28 'Oval, Avima'el, Sheva, 29 Ofir, Havilah and Yovav — all these were the sons of Yoktan. 30 Their territory stretched from Mesha, as you go toward S'far, to the mountain in the east.31 These were the descendants of Shem, according to their families and languages, in their lands and in their nations.32 These were the families of the sons of Noach, according to their generations, in their nations.

In the global entertainment landscape, TV show and film production stretches far beyond Hollywood or Bollywood — it's a worldwide phenomenon. However, while streaming platforms have broadened the reach of content, dubbing and translation technology still has plenty of room for growth. Deepdub acts as a digital bridge, providing access to content by using generative AI to break down language and cultural barriers. On the latest episode of NVIDIA's AI Podcast, host Noah Kravitz spoke with the Israel-based startup's co-founder and CEO, Ofir Krakowski. Deepdub uses AI-driven dubbing to help entertainment companies boost efficiency and cut costs while increasing accessibility. The company is a member of NVIDIA Inception, a free program that offers startups go-to-market support, expertise and technological assistance. Traditional dubbing is slow, costly and often missing the mark, Krakowski says. Current technology struggles with the subtleties of language, leaving jokes, idioms or jargon lost in translation. Deepdub offers a web-based platform that enables people to interact with sophisticated AI models to handle each part of the translation and dubbing process efficiently. It translates the text, generates a voice and mixes it into the original music and audio effects. But as Krakowkski points out, even the best AI models make mistakes, so the platform involves a human touchpoint to verify translations and ensure that generated voices sound natural and capture the right emotion. Deepdub is also working on matching lip movements to dubbed voices. Ultimately, Krakowski hopes to free the world from the restrictions placed by language barriers. “I believe that the technology will enable people to enjoy the content that is created around the world,” he said. “It will globalize storytelling and knowledge, which are currently bound by language barriers.” https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2023/08/30/deepdub/

When it comes to AI dubbing, Deepdub prioritizes authentic and natural-sounding voices and incorporates domain-specific technologies to improve translation accuracy.Ofir recognizes the impact of generative AI, exemplified by ChatGPT, and emphasizes the importance of building a product rather than just a technology. This is a special podcast and one of several in this series for GitHub's Maintainer Month. We're interviewing maintainers to ask them about their experience of open source and their experience of living as maintainers. Our first guest is Dr. Russell Keith-Magee, who's the Founder of the BeeWare Project and Software Engineer at Anaconda working on BeeWare in the OSS team. Russell talks about starting the project, the challenges of transitioning from an author to a maintainer, and the role of Anaconda in the Python ecosystem. Then we'll have a conversation with our next guest, Uriel Ofir, who's the Founder and Manager of Ma'akaf, an open source Israel community. Uriel tells us all about Ma'akaf, the importance of members being serious and proactive in contributing to the community, and how they encourage participants to contribute and improve their skills through an “open source party.” Hit download to hear much more! Russell: [00:01:40] Russell explains his role at Anaconda and being the Founder of the BeeWare Project. [00:03:43] The role of Anaconda in the Python ecosystem and the company's open source offerings is discussed. [00:04:15] Russell discusses the process of starting the BeeWare project. [00:08:03] We hear about the funding problem in open source and how development is something that needs to be looked at. [00:10:15] He tells us the challenges of transitioning from an author to maintainer. [00:11:51] What's hard for Russell as a maintainer? He mentions struggling when you don't see progress and the difficulties of finding maintainers with the necessary skillset. [00:14:35] There's been a lot of effort trying to document the onboarding process and making it smoother for new contributors. [00:15:21] Russell's excited about the prospect of iOS and Android becoming officially supported platforms in C Python and the progress they've made after nine years of work. [00:16:28] Find out where you can follow Russell and read about his work on the web. Uriel: [00:18:23] Our next guest, Uriel Ofir, joins us and he tells us about Ma'akaf. [00:22:28] He explains the community currently has around 350 members and four active projects. [00:26:09] He started the community even after he got a job and manages it by delegating tasks and empowering members to take responsibility for projects, and he emphasizes the importance of members being serious and proactive in contributing to the company. [00:29:48] Uriel shares how they encourage participants who may be hesitant to contribute to their open source community by hosting an “open source party” where everyone is welcome to introduce themselves and ask for help or advice. [00:31:43] Uriel tells us where people can join this group and follow him on the web. Quotes Russell: [00:02:08] “The Python ecosystem is only successful because of the open source component of it.” [00:06:51] “I made some challenge coins that we would give out to anyone who made a contribution.” [00:08:22] “Open source has a funding problem. There are big problems that don't get solved unless you have someone working on them full-time.” [00:11:22] “Having to create the project was an inconvenience before I can get to the point of having other work on it with me.” [00:11:29] “Open source really is a community. The whole thing is built around people working together for a greater good.” [00:15:05] “The more you can remove every possible obstacle to someone getting that first contribution, the more likely they are to contribute, not necessarily more likely to hang around long term.” Uriel: [00:28:33] “The most important thing about open source is to be serious.” [00:32:07] “I really want people to contact me around the world because this idea is scalable, and I would be happy to help you with that.” Links SustainOSS (https://sustainoss.org/) SustainOSS Twitter (https://twitter.com/SustainOSS?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) SustainOSS Discourse (https://discourse.sustainoss.org/) podcast@sustainoss.org (mailto:podcast@sustainoss.org) SustainOSS Mastodon (https://mastodon.social/tags/sustainoss) Richard Littauer Twitter (https://twitter.com/richlitt?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) Richard Littauer Mastodon (https://mastodon.social/@richlitt) Russell Keith-Magee Mastodon (https://cloudisland.nz/@freakboy3742) BeeWare (https://beeware.org/) BeeWare GitHub (https://github.com/beeware) Sustain Podcast-Episode 64: Travis Oliphant and Russell Pekrul on NumPy, Anaconda, and giving back with FairOSS (https://podcast.sustainoss.org/64) Uriel Ofir Twitter (https://twitter.com/OfirUriel?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) Uriel Ofir GitHub (https://github.com/UrielOfir) Uriel Ofir LinkedIn (https://il.linkedin.com/in/uriel-ofir) International OS Party (https://maintainermonth.github.com/schedule/osparty_israel) Credits Produced by Richard Littauer (https://www.burntfen.com/) Edited by Paul M. FlickDirect correspondent Allison Rose was on site for the Southeast US premiere of America. Take look as she interviews award winning writer/director Ofir Raul Graizer (The Cakemaker) about his latest entry at The Miami Jewish Film Festival. #JewishFestival #miami #TheCakemaker ABOUT AMERICA Visually iridescent and unexpectedly uplifting, America is the hotly anticipated award-winning film from director Ofir Raul Graizer, of The Cakemaker fame. Sincerely felt to the last with vibrant production design reminiscent of the best in Pedro Almodovar's established oeuvre, the film follows a Chicago-based swimming coach who is unexpectedly forced to return to his native Israel after his father's death. After contacting an old friend he hasn't seen in 10 years – as well as meeting his friend's fiancée – an incident soon occurs that creates a seismic shift in each of their lives. A summery melodrama, bright and verdant and attuned to the languor of the Middle East heat, America has a novelistic sprawl and an intimate bent as it carefully unfolds the three well-drawn characters in beautifully captured chapters. Winner of the Best Actress Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival, this sensual cinematic experience is a work of true magic, all built with love and redeemed by love. ABOUT THE MIAMI JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL The Miami Jewish Festival is an annual event that celebrates Jewish culture and heritage in the Miami area. It typically features a variety of activities and performances, such as live music, dance, food and crafts, and educational programming. The festival also serves as an opportunity for the local Jewish community to come together and connect with one another. The festival is open to people of all ages and backgrounds.

John Selden. A name most people today have never heard. But at one of the most crucial political turning points in the history of the West —17th century England — he was widely known as the most brilliant man in Europe, England's most accomplished lawyer, and a leading Member of Parliament so respected that both sides of the English Civil War desperately sought to recruit him to their side. His ideas were deeply influential on the future of Western liberty, and to this day remain the best alternative to the secular materialism of thinkers like Thomas Hobbes. He was also the most rabbinically learned non-Jew in world history, and a vocal proponent of ancient rabbinic tradition as the best basis for a virtuous political system. Who was this fascinating thinker? What was his story? And why are his ideas so critical today? To unpack all of this, Rabbi Ari brought on historian Ofir Haivry, author of John Selden and the Western Political Tradition. Haivry is also Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Herzl Institute, and Director of its National Strategy Initiative. They talked all things Selden — the most important Western thinker you've never heard of! Good Faith Effort is a production of Bnai Zion and SoulShop.
