Nik and Erendira Wallenda join Bott Radio Network's Southwest Missouri Regional Manager, Monna Stafford for this special interview at Silver Dollar City. The Flying Wallenda's are one of the most recognizable names in circus history. They have dedicated their lives to creating world-class performances sure to amaze audiences of all ages. The seven-person pyramid, the Wallenda's signature trick, has been keeping audiences on the edge of their seats since 1948 and is one of the most dangerous and thrilling acts ever performed in circus. The Wallenda family is always creating new ways to amaze, including traversing cables hundreds of feet in the air high above rivers, cities, stadiums and more!
How's your balance? and I'm not talking about your checkbook! In June of 2012, Nik Wallenda walked from the United States' side of Niagara Falls to the Canadian side. Sounds easy, until you realize that he walked high above the raging waterfalls on a 2-inch tightrope. Even though Wallenda held a 40-foot balancing pole in his hands, gusts of wind and swirling spray made the long crossing mentally and physically exhausting. At times, parents feel almost as much stress as a daredevil on a tightrope. We have to balance jobs and home responsibilities with our children's academic studies, sports programs, and other activities. When you start feeling off balance, remember Ecclesiastes 3:1. It says, “To everything there is a season.” This reminds us to take one task at a time, and to rely on God for continued strength and balance. For more encouragement and parenting advice, visit Trail Life USA or RaisingGodlyBoys.com.

Day 167 Today's Reading: Galatians 5 Karl Wallenda, the great tightrope walker, fell to his death in 1978 from a seventy-five-foot high wire in downtown San Juan, Puerto Rico. Here's what his wife, Helen, said about the fall: All Karl thought about for three straight months prior to it was falling. It was the first time he'd ever thought about that, and it seemed to me that he put all his energies into not falling rather than walking the tightrope. He was virtually destined to fall. As Christians we are commanded to walk in the Spirit. We are not commanded not to fall. Those who pursue not falling end up like Wallenda. Those who think about falling and failure never really walk. Galatians 5 teaches us how to walk and not fall. Today, with God's help, we will walk with God. The apostle Paul gives us these fighting words: “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh Galatians” (5:16). The opening word of this verse, But, is a response word. It's a response to having healthy relationships and not hurting people. Here is the verse before it: “But if you continue to criticize and come against each other over minor issues, you're acting like wild beasts trying to destroy one another!” (verse 15, TPT). Paul is saying, Do you want to not fall into criticism and hurting one another? He didn't say “bind the devil” or be free from a critical spirit or even “just stop it.” He said that we can win if we walk. Just like Wallenda. Walk! Walk in the Spirit. A father and son arrived in a small western town looking for an uncle whom they had never seen. Suddenly, the father, pointing across the square to a man who was walking away from them, exclaimed, “There goes my uncle!” “How do you know when you have not seen him before?” his son asked. “Son, I know him because he walks exactly like my father.” If we walk in the Spirit, the world should know us by our walk. The apostle Paul said walking is a weapon. It's how we fight. When we walk by the Spirit, we will not carry out the desires of the flesh. What is the flesh? That is our old sinful nature that is always popping up. In fact, we find a whole list of those fleshly desires in verses 19-21: Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21) To try to fight each one of them would take a lifetime, and even at that, winning seems impossible. So Paul says, “Here's how you fight. If you walk by the Spirit, you will not fulfill those fleshly desires.” This is important: he did not say they won't come and attack you. People think that once you become a Christian, you won't have evil thoughts any more. Paul says, that's not true, you will get the desire, but you don't have to fulfill the crazy thought. Because walking in the Spirit is now your focus. It's not a run or a jog but a walk. Even a child can walk. But for the Christian, that walk is valuable. Why? A Christian can commit any sin a non-Christian can commit but he can't commit it without a fight. Because when we walk in the Spirit, God is helping us to keep moving forward. We need the Holy Spirit to walk. Every time you choose to go to church, you are walking in the Spirit. Every time you choose your family over yourself, you are walking in the Spirit. Every time you choose to spend time in the Bible, you are walking in the Spirit. Every time you choose to be kind, to be gener
On this episode of the Life in the Carolinas podcast, Carl sits down with Lyric Wallenda, Simon Arestov, and Alex “The Mooch” Arestov of Circus Incredible. Lyric is a 7th generation circus performer of the Flying Wallenda family while Simon, a member of the Arestov Circus Troup from Moscow, is 2nd generation. The Mooch, now five years old, is the 8th and latest generation to carry on the Wallenda legacy. Lyric reflects on the achievements of the most famous member of her family, her great-grandfather Karl Wallenda, who immigrated from Germany to the U.S. where he and his wife Helen performed with the Ringling Brothers for 17 years. Their immediate success at their debut performance at Madison Square Garden gave the Wallendas the opportunity to bring many more of their relatives over from Germany. Listen in as Lyric and Simon tell the riveting and often-heartbreaking story of their family's rise to fame in America. They explain why, after several generations, they continue to see the circus as their calling, and why they love performing in front of a wide variety of audiences, from major state and county fairs all the way to the Hollywood Bowl and NBA Halftime shows at Madison Square Garden!
Nik and Erendira Wallenda join Bott Radio Network's Monna Stafford in Branson to discuss their family legacy. For 7 generations, The Wallenda family has shocked millions around the world with their death-defying stunts on the wire up in the sky. Nik Wallenda has broken 13 Guinness World Records, walked the Chicago skyline and New York's Times Square, over an active volcano in Nicaragua, and across the Grand Canyon. Did I mention Niagara Falls?
In this episode of Here's Help Rev. Larry Rice converses with Tino Wallenda, of the Flying Wallendas, about their history in the circus and his history with Christ.

Nik Wallenda is a member of the world-famous seven-generation Wallenda family of high wire performers. He's famous for his walks on the high wire across the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, between skyscrapers high above Times Square, New York, and a nearly 32-minute walk across the fire-y Masaya volcano in Nicaragua. Nik's book titled Facing Fear tells of his conquest not only of these perilous walks but of his conquest of fear, especially after the collapse of an eight-person high wire pyramid in Sarasota, Florida that nearly killed all eight of them. After the accident, Nik had to conquer his fears or he would never walk the high wire again.

Nik Wallenda is a seventh-generation member of the legendary Wallenda family. Known worldwide for his incredible feats upon the high wire and beyond, Nik is the holder of eleven Guinness World Records, among which are the highest four-level eight-person pyramid on the wire, the highest and longest bicycle ride on a wire, and hanging from a helicopter by his teeth. Nik’s career began at the age of two, as he learned to walk the wire while holding his mother’s hand, leading from there to record-breaking performances across the United States and around the world. In 2012, Nik fulfilled his lifelong dream to become the only person to walk directly over the precipice of Niagara Falls, which was broadcast live by ABC. In 2013, he became the first person to walk a wire across the Grand Canyon, an epic event aired live by the Discovery Channel in 178 countries, breaking network rating and social media records in the process. The next Discovery special took place in Chicago, where he walked blindfolded between two skyscrapers in November of 2014. In June of 2019, accompanied by his sister Lijana Wallenda, Nik took it to yet another level, becoming the first person to walk over New York City’s Times Square, an event that was carried live on ABC. Nik’s motto is “never give up”, and he carries this positive message with him in every walk with the purpose of “inspiring people around the world to follow their dreams.” On this Episode: Nik gives a historical background to his family line and their life in acrobatic high wire acts. Nik shares the blessing and the curse of the pressures that come with a family legacy like his. Travis and Nik discuss the true passion Nik had for performing and how he faced the challenges of going 10 steps forward and 13 steps back. Hear Nik talk about his decision making process and why he enjoys the challenge of “impossible.” Nik talks about the importance of the relationships that have helped his family’s career. Key Takeaways: Your performance should not be about impressing people but rather inspiring people. We are in control of where we allow our mind to go- pluck the seeds of fear! Use negative moments in life to learn and deliver positive messages to others. Nik Wallenda, who's part of the legendary Flying Wallendas family, has walked over ropes across some of the craziest places you can imagine, such as the Niagra Falls, Time Square, and most recently, an active volcano in Nicaragua - all without a safety net. He has broken 11 Guiness World Records for various acrobatic feats, and is on his way to break more. However, his journey has not been easy. In this episode, we talk to Nik Wallenda (World Record Holder & Author)as we discuss his new book, why he credits his community for his success, and what it is like going across an active volcano on a tight rope. Purchase his new book here **More On Nik** On June 23, 2013, Nik completed yet another life-long dream, this one 6 years in the making, becoming the first person to cross the Grand Canyon on a wire. His network partners, Discovery Channel, allowed Nik to undertake the walk in the Wallenda family tradition, completely untethered, and broke new ground as a network, broadcasting the event live in 183 countries. At a height of 1,500 ft above the Little Colorado River, Nik faced the challenges of wind gusts measured at 48 miles per hour, optical illusions of the canyon walls, and a dusty and precariously moving cable. Viewers listened breathlessly as Nik described the intense conditions he faced to Terry, his father and safety coordinator, and his Uncle Mike, his lead engineer, and also as he thanked God and prayed for peace in the midst of adversity as he traveled the distance of 1,300 hundred feet across. After nearly 23 minutes on the cable and realizing the end was in sight, he began to thank those that had made the walk possible, before kneeling to the cable, saluting his fans, and sprinting in the final distance to the waiting arms of family and friends. Through television and other media outlets, the event reached an audience of 23 million in the U.S. along, and millions more worldwide, setting viewing and social media records in the process. Revealing only days later the added adversity of battling and being treated for a severe cold the day of the event, Nik once again exhibited his motto, Never Give Up, and continued in his mission to inspire those around the world to pursue their dreams. Episode 120 - For ages people have been drawn to Niagara Falls, the most famous group of waterfalls in North America, and maybe the world. As many as 20 million people per year visit to view the awesome power of nature as tens of millions of liters of water spectacularly pour over the falls every minute. There have been many accidental deaths, but there have been many drawn to the torrents for other darker reasons. Some come to end their own lives and others, the daredevils, to try to prove their ingenuity and courage can beat the falls. Some have failed in the attempt. NOTE: There will be talk of suicide in this episode. Nik Wallenda is the King of the High Wire. But in 2017, after a horrific accident that nearly killed his sister and members of his team, he had to face something he'd never faced before: fear on the wire. On this episode, Nik shares how he overcame that fear. Plus how he got over having multiple TV specials cancelled, and how he moved past being told he would never be allowed to walk across Niagara Falls... which he successfully did.
