In this episode I talk to the brilliant Dominic Skinner, Director of Makeup Artistry at MAC Cosmetics and it is SUCH a good chat. Many of you will know Dom and his signature moustache from the hit TV show Glow Up, currently on Netflix, but he's been working at MAC for 20 years now, so you can imagine how many stories he has to share. We cover Dom's early days of working at MAC Cosmetics and he shares a wide array of life insights from how he truly embraced who he was, how he adapted after divorce and how he learned to be more selfish with his time. Of course we also talk about his new book, Glowography which is out October 24th! This is a great episode for anyone who wants to know more about working in makeup but it's also the perfect wake-up call for anyone who needs to hear it. Have you considered that anywhere up to 99% of your wedding photos will feature your gorgeous face?So while your venue choice is important and your outfit and flowers can add real impact, if your hair and makeup are important to you, it's time to make it a priority. Gaetana Marjas is an experienced, trusted and sought-after hair and makeup artist based in Adelaide South Australia and today she is delivering a must-listen wedding makeup masterclass just for you. In part 1 (part 2 will be released next week) you'll learn: her recommended timing for skin care treatments leading up to your wedding, how to address your specific skin-type concerns, common mistakes that people make with their wedding makeup, andwhy, if it's possible, she recommends you do a makeup trial.  It's also important for me to let you know that Gaetana's advice is subjective and relates to her ability to do her job to the best of her ability. So when she mentions lash extensions this week and dupe products next week, for example, it's her opinion and there is no hate on anyone who thinks or operates their business differently. Gaetana is not interested in creating clickbait controversy or ruffling anyone's feathers.  And from a safety perspective, here in Australia at least and if you reside somewhere else, please do your research, only medical doctors, dentists and nurses, with appropriate training/qualifications, are permitted to administer injectable treatments. So if you are considering undertaking injectable treatments Gaetana implores you to please seek qualified, professional and independent advice before you make your final decision. Resources: Gaetana Marjas Hair & Makeup Artistry: https://www.instagram.com/gaetanamarjas/Send Unbridely a 90-second audio message on Speakpipe: https://www.speakpipe.com/unbridelypodcast *The Unbridely Podcast is sponsored by its listeners. Jarie is an Army Veteran and graduated with honors from American InterContinental University with a degree in Business Administration. She graduated from AVI Career Training as a Master Esthetician in 2013 and obtained her Acne Certification from Face Reality Skincare. Additionally, she has numerous Certificates of Completion for Herbal Medicine, Perfumery/ Artisan Perfumery, Makeup Application, and Makeup Artistry.    The name of her business is Clear My Skin by JChantell. She shares how her journey in business began as a young girl who was impressed by the presence and sophistication of her mother. “I remember smelling my mom's clothes in her closet. That was my first love of fragrance. I would watch her get ready to go out with her girlfriends, and she had her skincare and makeup application down to a science. First her skincare routine, followed by her makeup then her clothes selection and last, her perfume scent.  As a teenager, I had acne issues, and the first skincare product I used was Noxzema. No moisturizer, exfoliant, mask, or sunscreen - just noxema. It worked okay on my skin, and at the time, I didn't know or understand I needed a routine rather than one product. It was then I developed my interest in skincare. The more I explored and experimented with different products, the more I wanted to know about skincare and skin health,” she says. Her interest would soon develop into a career involving skin care and Esthetics. Jarie says if she could change anything about her journey in business, she would've been more confident about what she had to offer in her field and not be afraid to take more risks. "I was so cautious and wanted everything to be perfect rather than take chances and fail in order to learn," she says.  Moving forward, Jarie plans to continue to learn about skin health, herbalism, and perfumery and hopes to expand on being a Virtual Esthetician and getting her Eau de Parfums in stores.  She also wants to donate more of my services to nonprofit organizations.    To learn more about Huami Magazine, please visit our website at www.huamimagazine.com You may also follow us on Facebook and Instagram by putting Huami Magazine, or This Is Who I Am Podcast in your search box. Hello friends! Ahhhh…. Is anyone else experiencing major shifts these days? Maybe it's Spring… maybe it's the light at the end of the tunnel… whatever it is.. There's something in the air…. And it feels tangible, like a deep stirring within. I'm seeing the first buds and blossoms of spring blooming…. California's Daylight Savings started on Sunday… change is in the air… Which brings me to today's guest. Elika and and I had a blast interviewing Shelley Wells, Licensed Esthetician and Owner of SAP Skin CAre & makeup artistry. Today's episode takes a dive into the nature and essence of the wild feminine… and we discover that when we aren't afraid to sit with the most untame aspects of ourselves, we find the deepest authentic and sincere connection to self which in turn offers us healing as well as offers a multitude of worthwhile gifts and blessings that bring richness to our lives. Shelley is amazing… and her story is one that inspires us to pause… make space for all of ourselves… become our own best friend… and experience the abundance that flows in our lives when we love ourselves unconditionally… You'll be glad you tuned in to today's interview with Shelley on “Finding Oneself Through Sobriety, Witchcraft, and a Motorcycle.” If you enjoyed today's conversation, please leave us a review and subscribe on the platform on which you're listening and share our podcast with other women in your circle. We grow as women in business by supporting each other everyday! And Remember: YOUR VOICE IS YOUR SUPERPOWER! To learn more about or connect with Shelley Wells: Shelley Wells is the Owner and Licensed Esthetician at SAP Skin Care & Makeup Artistry. She has been an Esthetician for over 5 years and started her own business shortly after she received her license. Though she loves all things aesthetics, her passion lies in skin care. She was a waitress for about 15 years and wanted to start a career and make a change. An opportunity presented itself for a receptionist position at Pure Makeup in Eureka. Shelley quickly fell In love with everything an Esthetician does, especially makeup and skin care. She had to work 3 part time jobs to get through school and pay rent and take care of her daughter but she was driven and desperately wanted this. She passed her exams and received her license in 2016 and soon after started her own business in a small room in the back of Siana Spa in Arcata. It was tough being on her own. She had just opened a new location in Arcata when Covid hit and she had to close. She had been dreaming of creating her own skin care line and had an amazing formulator that she was working with and using her plant based formulas in her facials and on her own skin with amazing results. It is super important to Shelley that she promotes natural plant based products because so few of them out there are as natural as they advertise. She loves natural plant-based ingredients and products. She wanted to create something that would spark a self care ritual that anyone can easily do at home while at the same time making sure it is safe and potent. A fun fact is that Shelley rides a motorcycle and joined an all women's riding group called The Litas. In the rare free time she has, she loves to take a bath, do tarot, and read a good book. She is currently reading The Mists of Avalon. Website: https://sapskincare.com Facebook: @sapskincare Instagram: @sapskincare
