Simon and Mackelly carefully examine their extremities.Chapter ReviewGriff, Jon Connington, leads young Griff, Aegon Targaryen, to the encampment of the Golden Company. They are led to the commander's tent. Within Homeless Harry Strickland is bathing his sore toes, Connington is not impressed. He'd been uncertain of his reception as he had left the company in disgrace a dozen years earlier. However, the assembled captains appear to be aware of the ruse and the contract with Ilyrio Mopatis to fight for Young Griff. The prince's true identity is revealed to a lack of surprise. Talk turns to how they might get him to Daenerys. All routes seem problematic. Eventually Aegon himself offers an alternative. He is the only dragon they need. Why not go to Westeros and stake his claim there? Daenerys can have Meereen. The captains rally to this call and Connington is impressed by his young charge. Aegon is taken to meet the men, with the Young Griff persona back in place. Meanwhile Connington examines his fingers that are clearly showing the signs of greyscale. He hopes that he can live long enough to see his Prince back on the throne and for his bones to be laid to rest in Griffin's Roost.Young Griff/Aegon Targaryen - Teenage nephew of Daenerys. Simon and Mackelly love a soapy love triangle.Chapter Review:Daenerys Targaryen dines with Galazza Galare, the Green Grace. The older woman is glad to see that the hostage-wards are still in one piece, despite continued provocation from the Sons of the Harpy. Dany cannot bring herself to hurt the children. Galazza has a suggestion for the queen: marry a Ghiscari. This will cement her position and give her support with the Great Masters. Her suggestion is Hizdahr zo Loraq. Dany meets with Hizdahr, and while there is no love and affection, he promises that he can bring peace to Meereen. She demands 90 days of no killing and she'll marry him on the 91st. Hizdahr rushes to comply.Last meeting of the day is with Daario Naharis. He's not thrilled with the news and the pair get into a heated argument. Dany sends him away and orders Ser Barristan Selmy to keep Daario from her presence in the future. They recognize Theon for what he was (Balon Greyjoy's son) and what he is (Ramsay's dog). He offers them terms: stay and die or be fed, treated, and freed to return to the Stony Shore.He has intel that Victarion is not coming back and that they've been abandoned and forgotten. This last silences dissent and the men agree. Only 63 men leave the towers to the incredulity of Ramsay's forces who felt they'd been fighting far more. Theon has a flash of pride for the ironborn.Ramsay is pleased with Theon and rewards him with meat, wine, and an upgrade in his quarters. Three days later Roose Bolton arrives with his new wife Walda Frey and Ramsay's fiancée Arya Stark. La loro origine è sconosciuta, alcune storie li voglio discendenti dei Primi Uomini, altri provenienti da oltre il Mare del Tramonto, ad ovest di Westeros, e i sacerdoti del Dio Abissale sostengono che in realtà vengono da sotto le onde, dalle sale del loro dio, il Dio Abissale. Ma non è la loro origine che crea conflitto, piuttosto il loro stile di vita, diviso tra l'Antica Via, dettata dalla tradizione del saccheggiare e depredare il continente di Westeros ("le terre verdi") e non solo, e quella Nuova, pensata per conformarsi allo status quo di Westeros, con alleanze matrimoniali, rapporti commerciali, maestri e, addirittura, i fedeli del Credo dei Sette sulle isole (... okay, questi mai permanenti, c'è da dire). Quello tra le due vie è un eterno conflitto, destinato, sembrerebbe, a non trovare mai una sua risoluzione. Ogni rivoluzione genera la sua controrivoluzione, e le due vie si alternano come si alternano le stagioni (e visto che siamo in ASOIAF, beh, la cosa non è ottimale). Simon and Mackelly admire the plumage.Chapter Review:Bran Stark and his companions have reached the foot of a hill that contains their final destination. A warded cave halfway the side of the mountain. But Coldhands and other sensitives know that they are under attack from the undead. The entire group is exhausted and hungry. Meera is supporting Jojen, almost as much as Hodor is Bran.Sixty yards from the opening Hodor's leg is grabbed from below them. Wights emerge from beneath the snow. As wights surround them, Summer kills as many as he can, but Bran sees that it will be hopeless. In desperation, Bran takes control of Hodor and the combination of castle-forged steel, 7ft of bemuscled automaton, and Bran's laser-focus on staying alive alleviates the immediate danger.But the day is only won because a Child of the Forest intervenes to set the wights aflame. She gets the group into the cave, apart from Coldhands who cannot enter. Within Bran meets the three-eyed crow. He's been watching and waiting for Bran. She'll tax the masters to pay their wages and take hostages to ensure there is no recurrence.She comforts Missandei who pledges herself to her queen. While the child sleeps, Daenerys bathes and is visited by Quaithe who tells her to trust nobody: The kraken and the dark flame, the lion and the griffin, the mummer's dragon, the sun's son, and the performed seneschal.In the morning, Hizdahr zo Loraq again argues for the fighting pits to be reopened, bringing freed slaves who made their name and living there as witnesses. Afterward, he talks with Melisandre who gives him an ominous warning. Simon and Mackelly interpret her meaning.Chapter Review:Ghost races along the Wall in the night. As he runs, he senses his packmates in their various locations around Westeros. Jon Snow wakes in Castle Black realizing that he was warging Ghost in the night. He dresses and sees the unsigned grant from King Stannis sitting on his desk. This won't be an easy day.Jon finds Stannis and Melisandre in the King's Tower. The king is angry over another rejection letter from a northern house to his call for their support. This time it's 10-year-old Lyanna Mormont who tells him that House Mormont will support only the King in the North, whose name is Stark. Jon tells Stannis that only Mance Rayder can bind the wildlings to the king. Stannis knows but still can't spare the man's life. He is an oathbreaker. Stannis asks if Jon has signed the grant giving Stannis all of the empty Night's Watch castles. Jon hasn't, the ask is too high. Jon suggests that the Night's Watch provide the leaders for the castles and Stannis provides the garrisons, the need not Take the Black. Stannis rejects the idea. Melisandre walks Jon out. Outside she tells him that she has seen him in the flames with enemies all around. She sees ice, blood, daggers, and cold.
