How can we avoid employee burnout and achieve a good work-life balance? We chat with Elysia Yardley on our Employment chat.
Holistic practices encompass a broad spectrum of health and wellness approaches, emphasizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. While many holistic methods hold great promise in promoting overall well-being, the field is not without its share of controversies and quackery. Differentiating between effective holistic practices and dubious "snake oil" remedies is essential to make informed decisions about one's health. Chiropractic care, often considered a holistic approach, is a case in point. While some chiropractors offer legitimate musculoskeletal therapies, others have been criticized for making unverified claims about their methods and their ability to address a wide range of health issues. As with any holistic practice, it's important to do thorough research and seek recommendations from trusted sources when considering chiropractic care. One holistic practitioner who has gained recognition for his approach to holistic wellness is Colin Carr, a Holistic Lifestyle Coach based in Austin, Texas. Carr's methodology emphasizes personalized wellness plans that incorporate various elements of physical fitness, nutrition, and stress management. Building a business around holistic coaching, as Carr has done, can have both positive and negative impacts on one's personal life, particularly relationships. While it provides a platform to share one's expertise and help others, it can also lead to time and work-related stress, affecting the work-life balance. Two other holistic practices worth mentioning are Neurosomatic Therapy and Functional Medicine. Neurosomatic Therapy focuses on the connections between the nervous system and musculoskeletal issues, aiming to address chronic pain and discomfort. Functional Medicine is a patient-centered approach that seeks to identify the root causes of illness and create individualized treatment plans. Both of these approaches highlight the holistic perspective of addressing underlying issues rather than just managing symptoms, demonstrating the potential of holistic practices to positively impact health and well-being when conducted by trained and ethical practitioners.Support the show@andrewPFM @PrideFitnessandMovement

Learn more about Scott at:Scott Shute(1) Scott Shute | LinkedInIn Scott's Own words: "Most of us have been climbing the wrong mountain, and sometimes it seems like the harder we climb, the further we rise, the less we have. On my journey through life, I've always felt the pull of two worlds. On one hand, the life of technical, for the operational. On the other, the life of a seeker, with the feeling of a deep connection to something bigger than myself. These two worlds fueled a question how can we be successful at work and also be a good person? With my exploration of this question, I have strived to change work, (and the world) from the inside out.

This week I'm bringing back an episode from the vault and I think the points that were spoken about on this podcast are just as timely today as they were nearly 5 years ago when I spoke to Jacob. On that podcast I had the pleasure of speaking to Jacob Andreae who, among other credentials, was a coach at the Northern Territory Institute of Sport.Born and bread in Darwin Jacob completed a completed a Double degree in sports science and education and was able to land a teaching job straight out of uni. Over the years though Jacob took on more and more, always trying to help people become healthier and better versions of themselves while continuing to attend his teaching job which he loved. This increase in work load, eventually came to a head when his body finally gave up and saw him take almost 4 weeks off work and life in general. From this time Jacob has sought to understand why and how his body went through this episode and it saw him look not only at his physical and psychological health, but also his nutrition. After trying a number of different diets and eating patterns he came across gluten and how it may be affecting him and his health. In this episode we talk at length about mental and physical health, but also, how diet can play a large role in how you feel day to day and how taking care of your nutrition can have a profound affect on your overall health and well being.I would like to thank Jacob for sharing his journey and for being very open and honest about his health story to date.I hope you enjoy the podcast and as always, please hit that SUBSCRIBE BUTTON to make sure you never miss any future episode and please consider leaving a 5 STAR RATING and POSITIVE REVIEW as it would meant the world to me.Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive a brand new workout each week, access to 3 LIVE Zoom sessions each week and access to the my VIMEO on demand workouts that you can do in your own time.Anyone can join and all you need to do is CLICK HERE to find out more and sign up today to join the team!Contact The No Breakfast Guy:Instagram: @the_no_breakfast_guyWebsite: www.thenobreakfastguy.comEmail: info@thenobreakfastguy.comYouTube: www.youtube.com/thenobreakfastguy
Meet Mandy Thompson, co-founder and CEO of Digital Reach Online Solutions, a full-service digital agency offering holistic solutions that focus on integrations and automations. In this episode, the emphasis is on marketing leadership. You'll hear Mandy and Ashley's fun conversation as they discuss everything from overwhelm, panic, and toxic productivity to the downside of doing rather than being. They also cover the risk of over-accessibility of leaders as marketers. As Mandy says at one point in the chat, "There's nothing good about waking up and feeling like the day is chasing you." It's a shorter episode, but it's down, dirty, and super fun!Notes:- 02.25 Start Your Day Without Feeling Like It's Chasing You- 04:40 Leveraging the "Do Not Disturb" Mode- 05:35 Keeping a Set of Sprint Lists for Reference- 06:40 Managing Slack Communications the Smart Way- 09:20 The Importance of Offboarding Your Day- 10:15 Long-Term Consequences of Being Scattered- 12:00 How Panic Can Push You To Operate at a Lower Level- 14:10 The Only Cure for Overwhelm Is Rest- 16:50 The Conflict of Doing the "Best Work" vs. Being "On Demand"- 18:30 Setting Boundaries and Permissions as a Marketing Leader
The conversation I had with Kelli Hayes Smith is very informative not only for female entrepreneurs but also every day moms who work and those who do not. Productivity doesn't have to be something that is connected to your work life but also homelife as well. As you will hear in our discussion, sometimes we just have to plant our feet on the floor as the first step. Kelli shares her intimate story of how systems became a part of her life and how she is now pouring her own strategies into other women. You will hear how she has a different approach to productivity than what I have previously shared on this podcast. I told her off the mic that I love that we have two different approaches but ultimately we are teaching women how productivity and shifting your mindset into what is a priority can get you into alignment. Please check the full show notes on the blog on how you can connect with Kelli and also if you are a female entrepreneur and want to check out her community. In the last year moms have been faced with many challenges when it comes to finding the balance of working outside the home and inside the home. I surveyed moms regarding work and life balance as of right now in the current state we are in. I want to answer the most common questions I received. 1. How do you balance working from home and family? Time blocking is going to be your friend. Use 3 blocks of time and adjust how many hours you need in each block. I talked about the SAF model in another episode “Clearing Tolerations and Create work-life balance”2. How can I manage growing a business and working a full time job? I answer this question in this episode and also recommend going back to listen to my conversation with Jamie Trull. 3. How to find time to spend with family? 4. How do I reach my financial goals in order to support my family?Well, I love answering questions that you all have for me, I hope that you find these answers helpful. I have more questions that I will answer at a later time as I don't want to increase the overwhelm with information. If you want to ask questions and want me to answer them on the show here are 2 ways you can do this. Send me a question via email at info@quinnmenier.com if it pertains to work and life balance, complete the survey here and I will be sure to answer your questions. Scott just completed a physical move of over 800 miles. He’s in his new home office and doing his first recording of the podcast from there, on this episode. The planning, preparation, and pressure of the move got Scott thinking about the simple but important things he’s been able to do that enabled the move to go smoothly… and as usual, he’s got to share what he’s thinking with you. So today you’re going to hear Scott’s thoughts about work life balance and how to avoid the overwhelm that can easily happen in life, and especially if you’re trying to build a business while you enjoy your life. It’s a great episode you can learn a lot of practical things from, so be sure you take the time to listen. Everybody who wants to accomplish specific things needs structure in their life. And isn’t that everybody? All of us have dreams, but until those dreams have something behind them that pushes them forward, they remain dreams only. Scott’s a “take action” guy in case you haven’t noticed. His belief that action precedes success has proven to be true in his business over and over. On this episode he’s addressing the need for a balance between work and life, and like everything else in life he believes that if you’re going to accomplish it, you’ve got to structure things so that it comes about. Nothing happens by serendipity or chance, it happens because forces are at work that make it happen. You can be that force for your own life and business. You can be the one to impose a structure that leads your life and business in a direction you want. Find out more on this episode. TIP #1: Create a list of your current tasks and obligations. If you were to take the time to create a list of all the tasks and obligations you have to do in any given day - work, family, social, religious - how long would that list be? For some people it’s exhausting just to think about listing everything out, but there’s an actual freedom and lightening of the load that happens when you do. Getting things on paper makes them a bit more manageable, a bit more “real” in terms of seeing them for what they are. It will help you think through everything at one time and recognize the things that need to come first, what is next, etc. Scott’s 5 tips for achieving better life work balance are pretty simple, and if you apply them to your life and business you’ll see some amazing results. Be sure you get to hear all 5 by listening to this episode. Deadlines don’t have to be stressors. They can be your best friends. Do you remember your school days? You always had due dates for certain assignments, didn’t you? Why did your teachers make you complete papers or projects within a certain timeframe? It’s because they knew that non-time-based objectives are not really objectives at all. A task that has no time of completion attached to it floats around in your head and on the periphery of your personal radar and is easily bumped to a secondary place in your mind. You don’t pay as much attention to it and it tends not to get done. Tip #3 on Scott’s list of ways to find work life balance and avoid overwhelm is to set your own deadlines for the things you have to do. He’s got some great ways of thinking about that, on this episode. Do you put your tasks into a daily schedule? You should if you want to get them done. Think about it. The major things we want to accomplish are often too big for us to get done all at one shot. That means they have to be broken up into smaller, bite-sized tasks. Those are the things we have GOT to insert into a daily workflow, a daily schedule that enables us to take those individual bites that enable us to get the whole thing done over time. It’s a cooperation of time and task that chips away at a large thing until it is D-O-N-E - done. On this episode of the podcast Scott talks about how he does this to avoid the overwhelm that can come from trying to balance work and life - and how he did it successfully during a recent time of high stress in his own life.
