Pour conclure cette séquence littéraire, ‘Another brick in the wall' des Pink Floyd. Author and film historian Sloan De Forest joins to discuss Stanley Kubrick's A CLOCKWORK ORANGE starring Malcolm McDowell. The 1971 dystopian science fiction film based on Anthony Burgess's novel follows a British teen Alex DeLarge and his gang of Droogs committing ultra-violence in a not-so-distant future. When convicted of a brutal murder, Alex is given an opportunity to submit to an experimental behavioral treatment, leading to unpredictable psychological damage. A CLOCKWORK ORANGE sparked controversy upon its release, some critics praising its visionary world-building, others decrying its depiction of rape and murder as irresponsible. Though labeled with an "X" rating, CLOCKWORK proved to be a box office hit and Best Picture nominee. After a series of alleged copycat crimes took place, the film was made unavailable in the UK for nearly three decades, but that only strengthened the film's reputation as a transgressive and singularly powerful work. On this episode, we take a long look into CLOCKWORK's artistry and infamy, as well as diversions into Working Girl, The Searchers, The Sopranos, Star Trek Generations, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Franklin & Bash, and much, much more! A CLOCKWORK ORANGE is currently available to stream with subscription to HBO Max.
Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of A Clockwork Orange is now regarded as an incredibly accomplished and influential film, but it was a lot more divisive upon its original release in 1971. And one of its biggest detractors wound up being the original novella's author, Anthony Burgess. Burgess wasn't just critical of the movie, he had very complicated feelings about his own book. This wasn't like Stephen King's misgivings over The Shining, though. Burgess's relationship with A Clockwork Orange was something that eroded over time due to a variety of factors. So we wanted to dig into exactly what happened there, parse out our own reactions to the material and how they've changed over the years, and examine the lasting impact and legacy of Alex DeLarge and his gang of droogs. Mark brings back friend, screenwriter, and film student for life C.C. Webster on a little droog trip to early 1970s London to discuss Stanley Kubrick's controversial hit A Clockwork Orange for its 50th anniversary this month. They share thoughts on the strange title, to symbolism in the characters' clothing, to differences between the film and the book by Anthony Burgess. And is Euphoria the new Clockwork? They wonder what a remake of this controversial classic could be like today, and could Patrick Bateman from American Psycho be a "brother" to Alex DeLarge?

WTOP Entertainment Reporter Jason Fraley chats with Malcolm McDowell as Stanley Kubrick's “A Clockwork Orange” made its UK premiere 50 years ago last night. They spoke in 2016 about his Amazon streaming series “Mozart in the Jungle,” which continued his passion for classical music just like his role as Alex DeLarge.
Episode 50 : A Clockwork Orange with Malcolm McDowell We continue to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of A Clockwork Orange, and are very excited to share with all our listeners, a very special interview that we conducted with Alex DeLarge himself, Mr. Malcolm McDowell. Many actors, if not most, play out their careers without playing even one iconic role. Malcolm McDowell achieved two within his career's first half-decade. And if Mick Travis in Lindsay Anderson's If… and Alex DeLarge in A Clockwork Orange have cast a long shadow over everything that he's done since, McDowell has always been cheerfully honest about his priorities: Regular work is far more important to him than consistent artistic brilliance. In any case, as he told The Guardian in 2004, "it's easy to be good in a Robert Altman film. You try being good in Cyborg 3”. He was born Malcolm Taylor in Leeds on 13 June 1943, and was educated at Cannock public school before turning down a university place in favor of working in his father's Liverpool pub, followed by a stint as a traveling salesman. The acting bug bit shortly afterwards, and he joined a touring repertory company, taking on his mother's maiden name in the process. Moving to London, he worked briefly with the Royal Shakespeare Company, secured a few minor television roles, and then joined the Royal Court Theatre just in time to be asked to audition for If... We spoke to Malcolm in July 2021…

Episode 47 : A Clockwork Orange with Shirley and Tony Jaffe Shirley Jaffe is a British actress who trained at the Central School of Speech & Drama in 1954. Among other early jobs, she was in the first British Theatre in the Round Company at Scarborough, with Stephen Joseph and later Alan Ayckbourn. Her film career began in the mid-'50s with Crime/Dramas The Passing Stranger in 1954, and The Secret Tent in 1956. Shirley was also a regular cast member of the long-running TV serial Emergency Ward 10 as Nurse Angela Foster in the late '60s, and in 1970 she appeared in Hammer's Taste the Blood of Dracula with the late great Christopher Lee. She appeared on television in the infamous Michael Jackson's Earth Song live performance at The Brits in 1996, and as a Greek nun in Little Britain Abroad. She's directed and acted in plays in Brighton, Edinburgh, The West End, and Helsinki festivals and recently played Irene in the award-winning British feature Ambleton Delight. She was nominated for a Star Award in the Brighton Fringe for her performance as "Nana" in the musical, Here Comes the Bride. More recently she appeared with her husband Tony in the music video to Spankox's “To The Club”. Her latest film is called Nurse Shirley Foster. This is Kubrick's Universe and so…… in 1971 Shirley made an appearance in Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, when she played a nurse who helps administer the first round of Ludovico's treatment to Alex DeLarge, of course played inimitably by Malcolm McDowell. Skybreak, the home she shared with her husband Tony, was also featured in the film, as the interior location for the scene in which Alex and his Droogs attack a writer and his wife (played by Patrick Magee and Adrienne Corri). British Actor Malcolm McDowell trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. While he’s had many notable stage roles, audiences likely know him best for a single, iconic character, Alex DeLarge, the anti-heroic criminal turned victim in Stanley Kubrick’s 1971, A Clockwork Orange. McDowell tells Alec how he developed Alex DeLarge’s signature look with the cricket codpiece, bowler hat, and single disorienting lower eyelash. McDowell also talks about his life-long friendship with mentor Lindsay Anderson, who directed McDowell in his debut film, if, in 1968. In his mid-70s, McDowell is still going strong, acting in film and television and enjoying roles such as a talent agent in HBO’s Entourage and a retired orchestra conductor in Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle. HBO had the second-most this year with "only" 107. NBC was a distant third with 47, followed by ABC with 36 and FX with 33. Technically, their season has only been paused through this Sunday . . . but it's unclear how they'd be able to resume next week, considering previous players who have tested positive have been sidelined for at least two weeks. Naturally, this will cause all kinds of scheduling issues . . . and thanks to the compact, shortened season, it seems unlikely that they'd be able to make up more than a week's worth of games. So there are a lot of unanswered questions. Americans were THRILLED to have sports back last week, but COVID-19 has already tempered that excitement. In a new poll of 1,000 baseball fans, 56% say they should just shut down the season, while roughly a third (35%) say they shouldn't. And about 9% aren't sure.
W 1971 roku do kin wchodzi „Mechaniczna Pomarańcza” Stanley’a Kubricka. Podczas jednego z wypadów zostaje on wrobiony przez swoich kumpli i trafia do więzienia.
Vamos nessa? We have another SNL episode, this one from the dreaded season 6. Lorne Michaels, Bill Murray, and Peter Aykroyd have all left the show so they got Gilbert Gottfried, Ann Risley and Charles Rocket. This is the second episode from that season hosted by Malcolm McDowell and featuring Captain Beefheart as the musical guest. This is a particularly notorious episode for a few reasons. We get our first sighting of Eddie Murphy (although very briefly) and it makes liberal use of the N-word. We also get the Leather Weather Report, a famously bad sketch, a commercial for milk brought to you by Alex DeLarge, sketches built on puns, and, in case I forgot to mention it, a sketch where Charles Rocket says the N-word. This was a rough one to watch, even as a die hard SNL fan this was painful.Download Here
Clear as a unmuddied lake, Fred. This week, ya boys tackle the disturbing, dystopian classic from Stanley Kubrick. Center stage is Malcolm McDowell as Alex DeLarge, a teenager who's main pastime is rape and murder. Have no fear: society has a new fix for people like him. It's psychology to the rescue...or is it? Fair warning: this movie is a tough, graphic, intense watch. BUT...does it have something profound to say? And how well does it say it?
@caracoldepeli
Greetings Cinema Lovers, I’m Andres Benatar, presenting to you with Film For Your Thoughts. Film Your Thoughts is my way of expressing my absolute love for Cinema. Occasionally, I will do reviews covering books, comics, and even the occasional character analysis. It all depends on the character, and believe me, there are plenty I want to talk about. Film For Your Thoughts can be checked out on my YouTube channel and podcast of the same name. Also, if you want to help this channel grow, then you can check out my Patreon page. I’m keeping the reward to just a one dollar donation to keep things simple, and hopefully if this channel grows, I can include more rewards over time. If not, I’m just happy talking about the greatest artistic contribution to human civilization ever invented. I love cinema, and I want to share that love as well as the intellectual introspection that I find myself committed to every time I see a film and beyond what it presents. To me, films are not just pictures, they’re doors with a big sign saying, “Unlock me.” Thanks for listening, and I hope you all enjoy my ridiculous ranting. I'm not the first person to comment on how A Clockwork Orange is a film that makes audiences sympathize with a psychopathic protagonist, and I'm certain I won't be the last. I certainly think that because we as an audience choose to root for a monster like Alex Delarge says a lot about the concept of how we value our own individuality and sense of identity, which is the main theme of the film and how it presents a character who despite being inherently evil is at the very least more authentic and human than all the other characters within the film who only behave and even flaunt their moral superiority either out of fear of being met with violence or going against the conventional social norms society forces on us as if that were a display of genuine sincerity. I hope you all enjoy my introspective analysis of this Stanley Kubrick Masterpiece. Sincerely, Andres Benatar Affiliate Reward links: Sign up for cash app and we both get an extra five bucks. We're covering arguably Kubrick's most controversial film in this commentary, his 1971 spot of ultraviolence A Clockwork Orange. Join us as we watch Malcolm McDowell's urbane psycho Alex DeLarge wreak havoc, before having havoc wreaked upon him in this exploration of his violence to society, governmental violence on their subjects, and the role of free will in moral frameworks. Quite complex, for a film where a lady is bludgeoned to death with a giant plaster phallus. Check it out! Or don't. No retribution will be levied for non-checking-outness. We're not animals.

Malcolm McDowell is an original! He has fun with the parts that he chooses and somehow always makes them multidimensional, multifaceted, multilayered. Whether he is portraying Alex DeLarge in A Clockwork Orange, or the man who killed Captain Kirk in Star Trek Generations, to Dr. Samuel Loomis, Halloween's Michael Myers psychiatrist to his current role as Sheriff Cooper in Silent Night. The movie starts out in a small mid-western town, Christmas Eve Night, and the annual Christmas Eve Parade. Oh yes, one small detail, there is a maniac in a Santa suit running around killing those he deems to be naughty. I'm not a big slasher movie fan, I learned that Malcolm McDowell isn't one either, but this is different because it's done tongue in cheek. Yes, you will be terrified but some laughter will bring your blood pressure back down to normal throughout. I think you will thoroughly enjoy this film, Silent Night, and it's available on Blue Ray and DVD TODAY!
