Welcome back to the home of sports talk for the average joe We talked about our experience seeing the Harrisburg Stampede in person.  We get into the dominate win over the Delmarva Bay Riders. Why the Bay Riders had a moral victory, The drumline, the in between play activities, the full Stampede experience. We speak about the overall atmosphere in the arena, the experience sitting by the wall. We continue with our thoughts on why this team should be supported by the local fanbase. Overall we had a great time at the game and we look forward to what next season brings to the Stampede. In the second half of the show we cover a multitude of topics starting with Angel Hernandez finally retiring from being a Major League umpire, we talk about Kyle Schwarber's amazing ejection from 2022 when Angel was behind the plate. We deviate into classic manager ejections and how when they would get tossed they would earn the ejection and make a scene out of it, and how no one does it now. We also get into the potential names for the Utah NHL franchise and we vote live during the show on the Blizzard as our favorite name choice for the Utah NHL franchise.  We talk about the first day of the Phillies vs Mets London Series, how some of the visuals of the fans to us here in the states would be jarring to see someone in gear for both teams. We get into how these fans don't understand our rivalries just like we may not understand theirs in Association Football. Professor Keith Davids is Professor of Motor Learning at the Centre for Sport and Exercise Science. Keith uses an Ecological Dynamics framework for investigating skill acquisition, expertise and talent development in sport. He is an applied scientist who researches how processes of learning, development, performance preparation and participation in sport, physical activity and exercise may be facilitated. He reviews implications for coaching and teaching at elite, sub-elite and recreational levels of participants, as part of his work. Ecological Dynamics is an integration of Ecological Psychology, Dynamical Systems theory, Evolutionary Science and the Science of Complex Systems, considering individual athletes and teams as complex adaptive systems, self-organising under interacting constraints. Such systems change over different timescales, which has significant implications for learning, development and ageing in children, adults and elderly people. He has over 30 years experience of teaching and conducting research in Ecological Dynamics with collaborators in UK, Portugal, France, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Finland, Norway and Sweden in related fields like Sports Science, Psychology, Behavioural Neuroscience, Sports Coaching, Physical Education and Human Movement Science. He has held/holds research positions in the UK (Manchester Metropolitan University: 1991-2003), Finland (University of Jyvaskyla, Finnish Distinguished Professor: 2012-2016), New Zealand (University of Otago: 2003-2007), Australia (Queensland University of Technology: 2006-2014) and Norway (2020-22: Norwegian Sports Science University (NTNU, Trondheim), Adjunct Research Professor). Amongst allegations of bribery and corruption, Qatar was selected by FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) to host the 2022 World Cup. BIG MISTAKE!  It's the first World Cup to be held in the Arab world, and foreseeably, there is more conflict on the streets than on the football/soccer fields as they push Sharia on Westerners! And not all Arab countries are happy to have ‘infidels' invited into the Middle East. It should have been obvious that inviting the world to come to Qatar, a state sponsor of terrorism, would not result in everyone holding hands and singing “Kumbaya.”Indeed, the propaganda started with the Opening Ceremony, quoting the Koran to send a ‘divine' message to the world against homosexuality. You will hear how the controversies are continuing, despite Qatar's promises that they wouldn't force Sharia on anyone. Not only are visitors getting in trouble for wearing rainbow armbands, women who were raped in Qatar are being accused of having consensual sex. Jews were promised kosher food and prayer services, but got nothing. Budweiser, the largest sponsor, had their tents removed and alcohol banned. Migrant workers who built the venue have been treated like slaves. On a lighter note, you'll hear how Qatar's scheme of paying people to pretend to be fans so they can show the world that everyone's having a wonderful time, was exposed. Finally, we'll talk about the ongoing threats to the World Cup. ISIS and Al Qaeda are urging their followers to boycott and worse. Hear about the biological, drone and nuclear attacks that are predicted. This episode of The Terrorist Therapist Show is a must-hear for anyone at the World Cup or still contemplating going there.

The FIFA World Cup, often simply called the World Cup, is an international association football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA, the International Federation of Association Football), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when it was not held because of the Second World War. The reigning champions are France, who won their second title at the 2018 tournament in Russia Sunday marked the return of Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving following his suspension from the Nets organization after he promoted a controversial film that has been heavily criticized as being antisemitic. The star point guard had 14 points in a Nets victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, but it seems like his performance was overshadowed by a viral demonstration outside of the Nets stadium prior to the game. A group of supporters showed up at Barclays Center before the game. According to Nets reporter Kristian Winfield, the group appeared to be Black Hebrew Israelites who were signing outside the stadium prior to the game

Welcome back to the Bill Bradley Collective, where this week your hosts unveil the second installment of our season-long concentration on sportswashing with an examination of global soccer's role. Two organizations drive the conversation, the Premier League of England and the sport's global governing body FIFA, or the International Federation of Association Football. Considered by European audiences as a domestic league at the competitive and interest-level of what the NBA and NFL are in the States, the Premier League is among the very hottest of sport-related brands, globally. And the level of exposure and legitimacy created by fiduciary counts of one of the league's top clubs has in turn brought about investment from some of the world's most unsavory entities. Join us as we break down the long-held controlling interest in arguably the world's premier club Manchester City F.C. by United Arab Emirate-based oil tycoons and the recent purchase of Newcastle United F.C. by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. The conversation transitions to FIFA, and while an examination of that group's corruption could span a season-long's worth of recordings, we focus on the how, what and why of Qatar's successful bid to host the upcoming men's World Cup. Quite literally being built on the back of slave labor, how is it did an Arab middle-power the geographic size of Connecticut acquire the right to host the globe's largest sporting event?

Not much time to dwell on anything else, or so you'd think: in fact, the ever-prolific Ian manages to drag us deep into a wormhole of Association Football in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, before joining his colleague in a ripe assessment of many of the Premier League's flaws and foibles. So our hosts decided to investigate this claim. Is there anything about the nature of football that makes it so popular? Is it about the physics of the game?  Or is it about the lack of tech? How about the economics of football? How do people get interested in football? Is it the nature of it or the nurture by some relative?Or maybe there is some intrinsic structural appeal that no other sport can match.Lots of frameworks, lots of structure, unnecessary complications. This is Life Math's take on football. 3veta 3veta.com is our startup. In 1818, Army veteran John Cleves Symmes Jr. declared that the earth was hollow and proposed to lead an expedition to its interior. He promoted the theory in lectures and even won support on Capitol Hill. In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll describe Symmes' strange project and its surprising consequences. We'll also revisit age fraud in sports and puzzle over a curious customer. Intro: Grazing cattle align their bodies with magnetic north. The Conrad Cantzen Shoe Fund buys footwear for actors. In the 21st century Association Football dominates global sport. The People's Game has swept all before it, but its birth in nineteenth century Britain was marked by division and conflict. Attempts to agree a formalised rule book broke the game of football into differing codes. Hence the establishment of the Football Association and Rugby Union. A fracture of the latter brought forth the Rugby League. In other parts of the English speaking world nationalised variants appeared in the shape of American Football, Aussie Rules, Canadian Football and Gaelic Football. Professor Tony Collins of De Monfort and Beijing Universities is recognised as the world's leading rugby historian. In this podcast Tony chats with Dr David Pendleton about his book 'How Football Began'.
