Victor's (@victormgcpwr) superpower is his ability to adapt. He is a famously versatile selector who can impress a niche crowd at his Blitz Club residency in Munich, or light up cult festivals like Nachtdigital. The diversity of his solo sets is matched by his skill for finding common ground with other selectors, which is why he famously loves playing back-to-backs. From syncopated, break-riddled techno to ambient dub and everything in between, his selections are unified by their diversity. Victor also heads up his own Main Power label and this week plays Dekmantel Selectors in Croatia. As a warm-up for that, he has put together a superb 75-minute mix that starts with one of his traditionally atmospheric and beatless openers before taking flight on lithe club rhythms. Genres are meaningless in his hands as the German transitions between deft percussive workouts, swinging drums and dubbed-out soundscapes that are always on the move, never easy to predict, but completely absorbing for both mind and body.

"My place of rebirth was New York." The DJ and producer discusses Brooklyn's queer ballroom scene and advocating for Munich's queer community at BLITZ Club. BASHKKA is a name you might recognise from festival lineups. In fact, it seems to be everywhere these days. The Munich-based artist has seemingly blown up in the past 24 months, but her ascent is well-deserved. The Munich-based DJ has been a resident at BLITZ Club for two years since returning from a decade-long stint in New York, where she quickly found family with Brooklyn's trans community. While she's now living back in Germany, the experience ignited a lifelong commitment to her advocacy for the cultural, political and de-colonial advancement of electronic music. She is an activist for Southwest Asian and North African artists across the scene, especially those from queer femme backgrounds or who have been otherwise marginalised from the mainstream dance music narrative. In this interview with the Exchange's senior producer Chloe Lula, BASHKKA talks about her roots and how the dichotomy of growing up to a Turkish family in Bavaria—and then living within the trans community in New York—has shaped her creativity and her outlook on family and life. She also talks about her debut EP, Maktub, on Nene H's label Umay, where she explores a mixture of ballroom, ghetto tech, house and the legacy of her years in New York. According to the artist, it's a "hot stew of seduction"—and it's only a prelude of what's to come. Listen to the episode in full.

Thrift Shop Biography

Welcome to our podcast where we discuss and deliberate over memoirs and biographies found in thrift shops. This is a great way to do things as we are not choosing who to read about. We may not be fans of the person, we may never have heard of the person and we never know who we are going to find next...There are only 2 rules to this podcast. The book has to be found in a thrift shop and we are not allowed to talk about the book until we press record, which is sometimes agonising. We have lots of episodes coming up so if you find yourself enjoying our podcast, please be sure to subscribe to be among the first to hear about each episode.THANK YOU FOR LISTENING

The ""Billie Jean"" single reached No. 1 in 10 countries in the spring of 1983, including seven consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 - becoming the second-highest selling single in America that same year."Billie Jean" was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on April 4, 1983, and Platinum on February 4, 1989. The song won two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance - Male, as well as an American Music Award for Favorite Single - Pop/Rock and was also named the Single of the Year on The Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics' poll in 1983.The short film featured a paparazzo attempting to photograph Jackson as he danced through an urban landscape. A specially created set featured steps and sidewalk tiles that lit up underneath Michael's feet. It is here that fans first saw some of Michael's best-known dance moves, such as spinning and landing on his toes. Many of Michael's steps and mannerisms in the video would become forever associated with The King of Pop.When the chorus hit.he sprung into this dance that was unlike anything I'd ever seen, director Steve Barron recounted of Jackson's choreography in the video. "It was just extraordinary, instinctive. He pulled it all together and turned it into what we saw.The camera literally steamed up, the eyepiece steamed up, because of my heat from what I was seeing." Barron also recalled the crew breaking into spontaneous applause after Michael finished dancing. The "Billie Jean" short film made history as the first video by a black artist to be played in heavy rotation on MTV, then in its second year. In 1992, the short film was inducted into the Music Video Producers Hall of Fame. MTV ranked "Billie Jean" as the 35th greatest music video of all time in 1999, one of three entries of Jackson's on the chart alongside "Thriller" and "Beat It."#MichaelJackson #BillieJean #ThrillerTHE 80's MONTAGES FLASHBACK AUSSIE COMMERCIAL M&Ms Australian Ad 1980s - Today's  TV Commercial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwZ9mf0FJcoPrince - Little Red Corvette (Official Music Video)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0KpfrJE4zw"Little Red Corvette" from '1999' (1982)☔️ Listen to more Prince here https://lnk.to/PrinceStream Watch all the official Prince videos here http://bit.ly/PrinceVideography Subscribe to the Prince channel and “ring the bell” to turn on notifications http://bit.ly/SubscribeToPrinceFollow Prince:☔️ Website https://prince.com/ Prince Store https://store.prince.com Facebook https://www.facebook.com/prince/ Instagram https://www.instagram.com/prince/ Twitter https://twitter.com/princeExplore the Official Prince Playlists:The Prince Videography http://bit.ly/PrinceVideographyPrince: Live Performances http://bit.ly/PrinceLiveOnYouTubePrince ♡ Music is Medicine https://bit.ly/MusicIsMedicinePrince / MPLS https://bit.ly/PrinceMLPS#PrinceRogersNelson #Prince #Prince4EverBananarama - Cruel Summer (Official Video)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9ml3nyww80Bananarama - Cruel Summer (Official Video)Listen to “Cruel Summer” - https://Bananarama.lnk.to/CruelSummerGet your vinyl copy of the album "Bananarama" released 1984 - https://Bananarama.lnk.to/AlbumStoreIDFollow BananaramaFacebook https://Bananarama.lnk.to/FacebookInstagram https://Bananarama.lnk.to/InstagramTwitter https://Bananarama.lnk.to/TwitterStore https://Bananarama.lnk.to/StoreLondon RecordsFacebook https://londonrecords.lnk.to/FacebookInstagram https://londonrecords.lnk.to/InstagramTwitter https://londonrecords.lnk.to/TwitterYoutube https://londonrecords.lnk.to/YTSubscribe#Bananarama #CruelSummerNENA | 99 Luftballons [1983] [Offizielles HD Musikvideo]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fpu5a0Bl8eY#nenavideos #99luftballons #99redballoons #original▶︎ https://www.nena.de▶︎ https://shop.nena.de/▶︎ Den NENA Youtube Kanal kannst du hier direkt abonnieren: https://nena.lnk.to/yt-sub▶︎ https://www.instagram.com/nena_official▶︎ https://www.facebook.com/NENAofficial▶︎ NENA auf Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3GoiJyG▶︎ NENA auf Apple Music: https://apple.co/2Zrrc2Y▶︎ NENA auf Amazon Music: https://amzn.to/3Bp4m9s ▶︎ NENA auf Deezer: https://deezer.com/artist/2211Spandau Ballet - True (HD Remastered)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR8D2yqgQ1UOfficial video of Spandau Ballet performing 'True', the title track from their 1983 third album 'True'. 40 Years - The Greatest Hits out now @ https://lnk.to/SpandauBallet-GH40Spandau Ballet are one of Britain's great iconic bands having sold over 25 million records, scored numerous multi-platinum albums and amassed 23 hit singles across the globe since their humble beginnings as a group of friends with dreams of stardom in the late 1970s. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/radioflowok/message
