When tonight's guest, Matt Williamson, was growing up, in Broward County Florida, his parents used to warn Matt and his siblings not to leave the bed of the truck or the tent, when they'd go on camping trips. They told Matt and his siblings that the Skunk Ape would get them if they did. It would be very easy to dismiss that as being a hollow threat, because Skunk Apes aren't really out there, right? Well, in the year 2000, when Matt was 8 years old, he found out the hard way that the warning his parents used to give him just might have had some gravity to it. We hope you'll tune in and listen to him detail what happened the day he had his own face-to-face with a creature that wasn't supposed to exist. If you'd like to visit Matt's YouTube Channel, which we hope you will, please go to…https://www.youtube.com/@StrangesouthFLIf you've had a Bigfoot sighting and would like to be a guest, on the show, please go to https://MyBigfootSighting.com and let us know. She started her Instagram account and consulting practice, The PTSD SLP, after experiencing a traumatic event at work. This experience led Rachel to discover trauma-informed care and how it could help her better serve her students and professionals understand howIn this episode, she talks about what trauma-informed care is, why it matters, and how to apply the principles to your interactions. This isn't a private practice-specific episode but it's information that all private practitioners need - even if you don't think you need to know it. I promise. This episode is well worth your time because it will inform how you practice and how to interact with not just clients, but everyone you know. Rachel Archambault, MA CCC SLP, is an SLP Program Specialist in Broward County Florida. Previously, she was an SLP at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida. She recently created PTSD SLP, LLC to provide trauma-informed consultations and presentations to educators and healthcare providers. Here in the blue enclave of Broward County Florida, and especially in the towns of Parkland and Coral Springs, the horrific events of Feb 14, 2018 are again top of mind, in our faces and the memories haunt our psyches. That's because the killer is on trial. He actually pleaded guilty to 17 counts of murder and 17 additional counts of attempted murder. This trial is the penalty phase, to determine whether that sorry excuse for a man lives or dies. They expect the trial to last four to six months. So much for his guilty plea relieving the families of having to live through a trial with all the gory details of how their children were murdered dredged up from the grave. And the nation is still dealing with the latest mass shootings in Uvalde and Buffalo.. It's past time we do something about it. Ten years ago this week, a man entered a movie theater showing a midnight screening of the new film, "Joker" and opened fire, killing 12 people and injuring 70 others. This week, a new book about that shooter was released. Today, I speak with Dr. Lynne Fenton, author of "Aurora: The Psychiatrist Who Treated the Movie Theater Killer Tells Her Story". She was outed as a psychiatrist who treated the killer, but obviously couldn't stop him...

Most parents believe they are vigilant in making sure their kids are kept safe from pedophiles, but sex crimes prosecutor Stacey Honowitz is here to say otherwise. The Broward County Florida prosecutor has been fighting for victims of sex crimes for more than 30 years, and she understands the complete playbook molesters use when scouting out young victims. In this episode of the Modern Divorce Podcast, she shares with host Billie Tarascio the ways abusers insinuate themselves into the lives of young people to take advantage of them, sometimes right under the nose of a child's parents. How to stop it? She details the key ways to help children and parents recognize the bad guys, and take action against them when necessary.Stacey has written fun and simple books parents can read to their children to help them understand how to set boundaries, including: My Privates are Private, and Genius with a Penis, Don't Touch. These books make it easy for parents to comfortably and frankly discuss inappropriate touching with their children and teach the importance of speaking up and reporting abuse.

How do you keep a positive mindset in a world that has lost it's marbles? Mike Carnevale, more than anyone I know, has the answer to that question. As a gym owner in Broward County Florida, he was ordered to enforce a mask mandate for his patrons. He refused, which resulted 3 arrests and the seizure of his business. He and his wife, Jillian, were threatened with jail time. In the eleventh hour Gov. Ron DeSantis pardoned them live on Fox News. Throughout the entire ordeal, the two of them kept a positive attitude, and had no doubt that it would all work out in the end. While they may have not known how, they certainly knew it would.

A nightmare created by an activist judge who takes it upon himself to punish anyone who differs from his own opinions, or chooses to exercise their Constitutional rights!Melanie is a wonderful, loving mother who has been stripped of her parental rights by a Judge with very strong opinions on "COVID Culture," mask mandates, and no respect for medical freedom of choice. Her son Logan has been effectively ripped away from her by his vindictive father using current events, and a corrupt justice system to his advantage. The presiding Judge has chosen to remove ALL Melanie's rights to her son, based on his opinion that she is a "danger to her son" based off of a single photo coppied from Melanie's social media. This photo shows Melanie without a mask during a time when masks were not yet mandatory in her area, and her exercising her 2nd amendment rights by wearing her lawfully licensed side arm. He has ruled that Melanie may not see her son until such time as she has submitted herself to a Coronavirus vaccine once one becomes available, and has provided official documentation to prove she has received it.I believe it goes without saying that this is an outrageous abuse of power on the Judge's part! Today on Mushroom Hour we are excited to chat with Scott Stimpson. Better known for his incredibly popular social media accounts “woodlandcravings”, Scott has been foraging for over 8 years across 18 different states in the US. Growing up in Broward County Florida, Scott was immersed in a diverse culture and developed a love of foods from all over. His love of food naturally led to a love of cultivation and appreciating the culinary abundance that is all around us in nature. Not until Scott learned the word “permaculture” did he know the path he had to take. His passion for agroforestry, foraging and mushrooms eventually led him to the mushroom mecca, the Pacific Northwest. As a student of working with the land in all these varied disciplines, Scott has developed an intimate relationship with natural systems. His lifestyle revolves around a symbiosis with the land and he is keenly aware of a responsibility to act as a shepherd of our Earth. As part of his great work, Scott shares his knowledge about permaculture techniques and ethical foraging with others, both online and in-person. For anyone who has followed Scott’s work, it is clear his passion and gratitude for nature’s culinary bounty are present in equal measure. I’m excited to learn more about this sacred relationship we have with the land that provides for us and how to give back as much as we receive. To: LP Audience From: LPolice Radio Date: April 19, 2018 Subject: episode # 31, How to develop school security Main Topic: Host Alpha Mike talks about the ongoing dilemma of school security. With the mass murder of Parkland in Broward County Florida, people are demanding better security in our schools, and rightfully so. Now some people are thinking about the idea of giving guns to teachers, Alpha Mike remembers his 5th grade English teacher with a gun, what a scary thought. Alpha comes up with some simple solutions for school security. The LPolice Radio hot-topic continues to pop up, hire retired LEO's to work as armed part time officers in schools. Our retired people would be allowed to work within their neighborhoods schools 2 to 3 days a week aiding the School Resource Officer (SRO). The pay would be much more affordable for jurisdictions. Additionally teachers certified as reserved officers or the Polk County Sheriff's Office Sentinel program. Special Deputy Sheriff Sentinel Program Training: (132 total hours) Firearms: 80 hour block of instruction. This firearms training is based on the CJSTC law enforcement academy training model. A typical academy student will fire approximately 1,000 training rounds during the academy. The Sentinel Program Training will include 10-20% more rounds fired for each participant. Firearms: Precision Pistol / 16 hour block of instruction. Firearms Discretionary Shooting: 4 hour block of instruction using state of the art simulator exercises. Active Shooter/Assailant: 8 hour block of instruction. Defensive Tactics: 4 hour block of instruction. Legal / High Liability: 20 hour block of instruction. All training will be conducted by CJSTC-certified instructors. Ongoing and annual proficiency retraining will be conducted by the PCSO. Higher Standards:The 100 hour block of firearms instruction is 25% more instruction than the equivalent block of CJSTC law enforcement firearms instruction deputies receive (80 hours). Additionally, Sentinel Program participants will be required to pass the firearms training at an 85% pass rate compared to the CJSTC standard of an 80% pass rate. The 16 hour precision pistol course is additional training (not required for deputy sheriffs). The 4 hour block discretionary shooting instruction is a separate training for the Sentinel Program (in addition to the 80 hour block of instruction). Sentinels will receive 8 hours of active shooter/assailant training (deputies receive 6 hours training). School Resource Officers (SRO) and the most important aspect of school safety, the ShotSpotter program how good is it read this story "Bigwig in mayor's Office of Criminal Justice nabbed with gun in car in Queens". ShotSpotter is gunshot detection technology that uses sophisticated acoustic sensors to detect, locate and alert law enforcement agencies and security personnel about illegal gunfire incidents in real-time. The digital alerts include a precise location on a map (latitude/longitude) with corresponding data such as the address, number of rounds fired, type of gunfire, etc. delivered to any browser-enabled smartphone or mobile laptop device as well as police vehicle MDC or desktop. This information is key to better protecting officers by providing them with increased tactical awareness. It also enables law enforcement agencies to better connect with their communities and bolsters their mission to protect and serve. Facebook and YouTube have claimed to be under pressure to police their platforms to rid them of fake news stories as well as stories stating that tragedies such as the recent high school shooting in Broward County Florida were staged events executed to terrorize the citizens of this country for a twisted government agenda. But while this has going on for the longest time as far as the social media censorship is concerned especially when dealing with Black social media content creators, I find it amusing that they are now speaking out on it now and admitting that they actually DO police their platforms. I'm glad that this is something that Facebook and YouTube has confirmed, now the naysayers that have claimed that many Black content creators are paranoid have to be silent on a situation that they swore they knew about from A to Z. But since the cat is out of the bag about social media censorship, we have to ask the question.....how much is necessary and how much is too much? When does it become a form of harassment? --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lancescurv/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/lancescurv/support
