Meet Steve Leveen in this episode of What’s Up Bainbridge. A fierce champion of bilingualism in America, he is the author of the recently published America’s Bilingual Century, his third book which serves as a call to action to Americans to advance to a country where a majority knows English and another language. He maintains that “English is what unites us; our other languages are what strengthen and define us.” He shares his own experience of learning a second language as an adult, commenting on the rich value of multilingual living and the many advantages and joys one can experience. He discusses the myths associated with learning a second language and especially the one dealing with thinking that it is too difficult to do so as you get older. We have a great show for our listeners, let’s talk about buying that second property for yourself or to rent out, a place to getaway, a place to experience, a place to fixer upper. Steve is an expert in purchasing these types of properties and he has a lot of great information to share. Find Steve @steve.haid on IG his website www.stevehaid.com his email stevenphaid@gmail.com and his phone number 416 277-6604 The wine is on the table, a bottle for each of the three nationalities represented on the show today, Portugal, Italy and Germany. On with the show. There is a massive push for 30- and 40-year-olds to purchase fixer upper waterfront cottages from the aging population. You would be surprised, there are a lot of cottages on the market. Steve recently purchased his own place up there last year, a 1900 two story that needs a lot of construction love and right off the bat, Steve’s budget doesn’t line up with construction reality, but the guys discuss what it would really cost and what type of contractor you will attract the lower your budget goes. You honestly get what you paid for. Steve walks the listeners through the key steps involved in purchasing that property and it might not be a cottage on the lake, it could be rural, it could be a condo as the market grows up in cottage country. Steve is talking about a potential 20-30% return on your real estate investment. The conversation deviates into Manny never wanting to own a place up there himself because Manny is not an outdoorsy kind of guy and you will never catch Manny portaging or shitting in a thunderbox. The guys talk about working with all of the governing agencies up there and how particular they are when it comes to shorelines, wildlife and wearing camouflage pants. We discuss tech and how everyone is now on wifi and data networks and how those details are assisting with security and home office functionality for cottage owners. Then Steve hijacks the conversation back to his own place and asks how long the renovation will take, Steve thinks a month, that way he can disappear to Costa Rica and return to a completed reno, not the case as Manny and John enlighten Steve on the truths of timelines. Steve speaks openly about how badly clients up in cottage country desperately want a “hands off” experience and want the contractor to take full responsibility over everything from the permits to design. John and Manny even suggest Steve should consider renovating his home into a passive home, especially after hearing that Steve spends over $1000 per month on electric heat. So much to consider when it comes to cottage country living. Thanks so much Steve for walking us through the ups and downs of cottage purchasing, renovating, and living. John shares his latest and greatest phrase…Skills to pay the Bills. Use it guys.Thank you to John my Guest CoHost from @craftandclerk and @stonesthrowconstruction and www.craftandclerk.com and www.stonesthrowconstruction.com Want a sticker, contact Manny at info@theconstructionlife.com or info@hardcorerenos.com or DM Manny @hardcorerenos He will mail you a sticker free of charge anywhere in the world. From an early age, today's guest was just built different. As a kid, Steve Pereira found great value in experimentation and process improvement. While other kids would spend their time goofing off, Steve found ways to spend less time cleaning his room. It's carried forward to now, where his business focuses on helping software companies deliver faster and at higher quality. It turns out that he's found that problems in corporate technology companies aren't tech-related at all. They're people-related. And coming up with processes and flows for people to dial into and do amazing things helps decrease stress and increase productivity. Don't worry about a couple of nerds being together on the same podcast, we don't get technical at all in this show. But you'll learn some neat stuff that you can apply to your own day-to-day. Find Steve at visible.is, or email him at steve@visible.is. Our guest for this #PoisedforExit episode is Steve Baird; shareholder and practice area leader for his Intellectual Property team in the Minneapolis office of global firm Greenberg Traurig. Steve's interest in the law did not follow a straight line. Being from a family of educators (his parents and siblings are all teachers of some kind) he naturally gravitated toward wanting to educate people, just not as a teacher. He spent some time in college in a Pharmacist program and through that experience met several patent attorneys. It was then that his path to practicing law began, with a strong interest in IP. Fast forward, Steve is a prominent leader in his department and specializes in Trademark Law and Brand protection for privately held companies. He enjoys the value he brings as a trusted legal adviser to his client relationships and uses his love for education in teaching them what, why, and how to protect their brand assets. His thought leadership and expertise are well received in his department and by his colleagues and associates. Being the recipient of many types of awards, you'd think he'd have an ego problem, but not this guy. He's as humble as they get. His award winning "Duets Blog" boasts 900 posts over the past 12 years! He's interviewed some pretty famous thought leaders, like Seth Godin, who's also been a guest blogger for them! Steve says his guiding principles as a trademark expert and leader of his team are to help his clients understand what they need and why, without demeaning legal jargon that can drive distance between attorney and client. He also believes that creative problem solving works a lot better with creative people than forcing a remedy that no one likes or wants. You can learn more about protecting your IP by listening to this episode now.Find Steve here: https://www.gtlaw.com/en/professionals/b/baird-stephen-rFind Julie here: https://www.poisedforexit.com/Thank you to our Sponsors Sunbelt Business Advisors and JAK, CPA.

Every version of school presents students with rules, restrictions, and indicators of success. Well, so do games! Amy and Mike invited educational entrepreneur Steve Hargadon to explore the opportunities and implications of winning the game of school. What are five things you will learn in this episode? In what ways is the current “story” of K-12 education flawed? What is the concept behind the Game of School? How do students benefit from seeing school as a game? If school is a game, what are the rules? How can we encourage students to play the game of school their way? MEET OUR GUEST Steve Hargadon is the founder and director of the Learning Revolution Project, the host of the Future of Education interview series, and the founder and chair (or co-chair) of a number of annual worldwide virtual events, including the Global Education Conference and the Library 2.0 series of mini-conferences. Steve's work has been around the democratization of learning and professional development. He pioneered the use of live, virtual, and peer-to-peer education conferences. He popularized the idea of "unconferences" for educators, built one of the first modern social networks for teachers in 2007 (Classroom 2.0), and developed the "conditions of learning" exercise for local educational conversation and change. He supported and encouraged the development of thousands of other education-related networks, particularly for professional development. For over a decade, he has run a large annual ed-tech unconference, now called Hack Education (previously EduBloggerCon). He may or may not have invented an early version of the Chromebook which he demo'd to Google. He blogs, speaks, and consults on education and technology, and his virtual and physical event online communities have over 150,000 members. He has been the Emerging Technologies Chair for ISTE, a regular co-host of the annual Edublog Awards, and the author of "Educational Networking: The Important Role Web 2.0 Will Play in Education" and "Modern Learning: Re-Discovering the Transformative Promise of Educational Technology." He was the recipient of the 2010 Technology in Learning Leadership Award (CUE). He has done contract work, consulted with, or served on advisory boards for Acer, Adobe, Blackboard, CoSN, Horizon Project / New Media Consortium (NMC), Instructure, Intel, KnowledgeWorks Foundation, MERLOT, Microsoft, Mightybell, NAMLE, Ning, PBS, Promethean, Speak Up / Project Tomorrow, U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. State Department, and others, typically focusing on educational technology and social networking. We're back with SEASON 15! To kick-off, we're talking marketplaces. Most marketplaces are labor-driven — they use technology to connect people to a particular service in an efficient way. The operative word here is PEOPLE. Many marketplace platforms have developed bad reputations for caring only about 1 group of people, the customers, while ignoring and treating poorly the other group, the labor. Verblio CEO Steve Pockross thinks that's ridiculous, and success should be qualified by creating happiness on both sides. In our season premiere, he shares how Verblio has built up and scaled the labor side of its content-writing marketplace to accrue a global customer base and multiple Inc 5000 growth awards.Find Steve online:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/spockross/Twitter: https://twitter.com/spockrossFind Verblio online:www.verblio.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Welcome to the What's Next! podcast with Tiffani Bova. This week I am thrilled to welcome Steve Herz to the What’s Next Podcast! Steve is President of The Montag Group, a sports and entertainment talent and marketing consultancy. He is also a career advisor to CEOs, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and young professionals. Prior to joining TMG, Steve was the President and Founding Partner of IF Management, an industry leader whose broadcasting division became one of the largest in the space, representing over 200 television and radio personalities. THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR… Anyone looking to improve their non-verbal communication. TODAY’S MAIN MESSAGE… Steve breaks down the importance of body language, voice, and energy on the impressions you make! We discuss the influence of and interaction created by your body language, the often forgotten but highly influential nuances in your voice that make or break a conversation (or keynote), the undeniable influence of your energy and how you modulate your energy, and how we identify our bad habits. As Steve puts it, inflection is infection–with the right signals and energy you can infect others with your enthusiasm! Steve also helps us identify our bad habits and figure out how we can change them into good habits that will work for us instead of against us. He uses Steve Jobs as the ultimate case study and gets to the nitty-gritty of how we are perceived to be in terms of skill and competence and how we can influence that for the better. WHAT I LOVE MOST… We had such a great conversation about authority, warmth, connection, and the kinetic relationships you develop with people, that we did not even get to discuss his book! Today I had the pleasure of talking with Steve Larsen. For two years, Steve Larsen was the Lead Funnel Builder at ClickFunnels for Russell Brunson, and put over 500 sales funnels under his belt (but honestly, lost track a while ago). Eventually he left ClickFunnels as an employee to get his own Two Comma Club Award and his business crossed $1 million 13 months later. His podcast, Sales Funnel Radio, was created to share best practices, teach the finer points of marketing, offer creation, and “funnelology”. Steve’s approach to offers are so attractive that fans body-check their own Grandmas just to buy! Long walks on the beach isn't his thing but he loves slappin’ five. This episode, Steve will be sharing his favorite episode (so far) on Sales Funnel Radio, the terms of his development with connection to publishing, and the biggest failure that he came across. Steve will be discussing strategies about having a new publishing.
