This is music to be felt in the fist, the gut and the base of the spine!” Murray Engleheart (Remedy) The band being referred to above is Adelaide, SA trio The Mark of Cain & it blows my mind that I have TMOC Bass player Kim Scott as my very special guest on the show this week.  I started listening to TMOC in 1995 when I first heard a song of theirs called LMA off the “Ill At Ease” record, which I played on repeat & still do to this day. Fast forward to 2006 & lucky old me got asked to do their live sound for a 7 date national tour = Mind. Blown.

Listen to the sixth and final episode of our new six-part podcast series, Making Tracks. Bradley Kulisic from Singing Light Music talks to music leaders Holly and Frankie about music management, marketing and distribution. Bradley has worked with artists and independent record labels since 2002. His DIY ethic was shaped by working with Dischord, Southern Records, Constellation and Barry Adamson. He has run campaigns for artists like Peaches, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Colin Stetson. He manages Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Eleni Drake, Holy Moly & the Crackers and more. Singing Light Music was launched 2019 with the intention of bringing all these experiences together under one umbrella, to help demystify the music business and to offer support and guidance on releasing records, physical and digital distribution and rights management for artists, creators, managers and labels. Making Tracks, is our six-part podcast series, a podcast from behind the production desk, for songwriters and music producers who are ready to step into the studio. Music producer and educator Lisa Murphy and team lift the lid on the North East music industry by interviewing people working directly in the industry about how they use music technology in their music making. Making Tracks is a songwriting and music production course delivered by professional music producers in professional recording studios in the North East. Whether you're looking to take your first steps, develop your existing knowledge, or work towards becoming a professional producer, there's a Making Tracks course for you. This podcast series is brought to you by Access Music Production CIC in collaboration with The Glasshouse International Centre for Music. At the time of recording, The Glasshouse was called Sage Gateshead, so you may hear some references to our old name.

By day, Sam Grant is responsible for producing some of the most intense, bone crunching yet life affirming riffs for Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs. Also by day (and probably also by night sometimes), he's an artist and a producer who has built Blank Studios, a top recording facility in the North East of England.Talking about these kind of side hustles and projects is a big thing on I Wanna Jump Like Dee Dee, so to hear that Sam is unleashing his own musical side project, Rubber Oh, onto us is pretty exciting. Their debut album is called Strange Craft and it's this kaleidoscope of retro-futuristic-psych-cosmic-analogue-digital mind bend…it gives me this feeling of familiarity yet unfamiliarity, which perhaps explains how I feel about the world right now. Oh, and it's really fucking good.I Wanna Jump Like Dee Dee is a music podcast that does music interviews differently. I'm Giles Sibbald and I'm talking to extraordinary musicians, DJ's and producers about how they use an experimental mindset in their lives to amplify their own creativity, pursue new challenges, overcome fears and bounce back from mistakes.- brought to you by Hey Sunday, the mothership of the experimental mindset™.- podcast logo and art by Tide Adesanya, Coppie and Paste.

It began with the Beatles' “Helter Skelter.” It was distilled to its dark essence by Black Sabbath. And it's flourished into a vibrant modern underground, epitomized by Newcastle's Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs. This is the evolution of heavy music, and “Electric Wizards” is your sonic gazetteer. The voyage is as varied as it is illuminating: from the lysergic blunt trauma of Blue Cheer to the locked grooves of Funkadelic, the aural frightmares of Faust to the tectonic crush of Sleep, alighting on post-punk, industrial, grunge, stoner rock, and numerous other genres along the way. Ranging from household names to obscure cult heroes and heroines, “Electric Wizards” demonstrates how each successive phase of heavy music was forged by what came before, outlining a rich and eclectic lineage that extends far beyond the usual boundaries of heavy rock or heavy metal. It extols those who did things differently, who introduced something fresh and exciting into this elemental tradition, whether by design, accident, or sheer chance. In doing so, “Electric Wizards” weaves an entirely new tapestry of heavy music.J.R.
