Danni Verona is a Licensed Occupational Therapist who has been continuously serving the needs of families for 36 years. She specializes in infants, children and parenting and has gained her experience through working in schools, clinics, home visiting programs, and hospitals. As a mother of three children, a grandmother to a freshman in high school! Danni brings her love of learning and family into her experience. She is an Infant Massage program instructor, 5th degree Blackbelt Karate instructor and program director of a neurodiverse inclusive karate program she created through the Family Martial Arts Academy in Beaverton, and is a Certified Zero Balance practitioner.  Danni now practices in her private clinic, that she designed to supports children and their families specifically in how they can discover the best way to optimize their personal processing and regulation needs. Danni has developed tools and programs to support individuals in learning more about their body's needs, as well as how their thinking and neurological processing impacts their ability to learn, regulate and interact with others.  Danni's guiding philosophy is, “Working with the 'whole' child, means recognizing that they are whole, and it's our job as the caretakers of children to meet their needs by seeing who they are, and where they are in their personal development. In order to do that we have to continue to learn about our own processing systems, so we can create the circumstances and support that allows the children to grow into their greatest potential." Thank you for joining us Cami and Michele!  Michele Rooney, MS, PT, is a physical therapist with over 24 years in professional practice.  She completed a BA in Psychology and Sociology at New York University, and an MS in Physical Therapy at Columbia University.  While working in the school setting during her early career, she also worked as a personal trainer.  Although conventionally trained as a PT, Michele quickly realized that a conventional approach did not fulfill her personal philosophy of holistically optimizing health and function through the integration of mind, body and spirit.  This inspired her to pursue certifications in Hatha Yoga, Yoga for the Special Child, Craniosacral Therapy, Reiki and Infant Massage.  More recently, she has returned to her fascination with psychospiritual approaches to wellness by pursuing certifications as a Self-Sabotage Coach and in Hypnotherapy.  In addition to her clinical specialty in pediatrics (autism/neurodevelopmental disorders and Early Intervention), she has extensive expertise in functional medicine in women's health (hormonal balancing, peri menopause), and she is a GGS-1 Women's Coaching Specialist.  She considers herself to be a lifelong learner, and she excels at simplifying challenging and complicated topics. Cami Smith has been a board certified music therapist working with children with neurodiversity for over 20 years and in 2018-2019 was introduced to Pranayama Yoga Breathwork training.  She has been practicing breathwork since then for her own healing journey and worked with friends and family using this modality.  She has seen immense changes in her own healing of her conscious and subconscious mind as well as experienced improved mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical wellness.  So many others have experienced altered lives due to the learning that comes from laying down and breathing for an hour.     facebook.com/rhythmicminds - my business page; getting my website redesigned so it is not up yet. Just in case you thought the restrictions on abortion could only happen in other countries, the UK government has now decided it doesn't need to be placed in the Human Right's statement either. This is all part of a rather worrying trend where politicians, of all parties and all sexes, are happy to slowly strip women's independence away from them. From Republicans in the US voting against contraceptives to the elected officials in Scotland, at a national and local level, deciding to go back to the puritan approach of the 1950s and banning women working in strip clubs. This stuff is something to get active about and write to your representative.Remember to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the competitions, wisdom and cute videos. As we've shared in other podcasts, the prenatal to 3 period of development is all about incredible amounts of brain development that is occurring at this time, with billions of new connections forming the very architecture of the brain not only during the prenatal period but for the entire span of these early years. The sensory inputs (not the least of which is touch) a child is receiving throughout this period is what makes this development happen. In this Sensori-motor period, the ability to touch, taste, smell, see, and hear the world around babies is literally the curricular landscape for infant / toddler teachers. This week's podcast is all about the power of touch for infants and the parents, caregivers and other adults to whom they become attached. An interview with certified infant massage instructor Lynn Barts, owner of Baby and Me, LLC. Lynn brings over 29 years of experience in Prenatal to 3 work, with Early Intervention, Home Visiting, and Early Childhood Professional Development for teachers and caregivers.
