Every year the Patriots have one or two receivers that become media darlings because of their performances, a couple years ago it was Maurice Harris, Dontrel Inman held that spot once, everybody was begging that Braxton Berrios was the second coming of Wes Welker and Julian Edelman combined, all those guys didn't make the team. This year the title goes to Kristian Wilkerson, and perhaps he'll be able to get past the media curse. Maurice Harris owns Bloom & Plume, a flower business with an adjacent coffee shop. Before the pandemic, his products were selling well and his social commentary was resonating. Sister ‘Rona showed up and she was just like, shutting it all down,” he says. He secured a PPP loan last year from the U.S. Small Business Administration, but says he’ll need additional federal dollars this year to keep his employees on payroll and his rent paid.

My guest on this episode is former two-time Heavyweight Champion of the World - Chris Byrd. We talk about Chris’s miraculous recovery from years of debilitating pain from nerve damage in his foot, hip replacement surgery, and numerous shoulder problems. We discussed Chris's new diet and alternative therapies that aided his recovery. We also spoke about Chris’s great career from his days in the amateurs and sparring in an 8 by 10 ring in his parents' basement; his trip to the Olympic trials in 1988; his Olympic Silver Medal in 1992; not getting signed by a major promoter coming off of that medal and his roundabout journey as an avoided fighter to a shot at the Heavyweight title and eventually becoming a two-time champ. We also go into his battles in the ring with Ike Ibeabuchi, Vitali Klitschko, Wladimir Klitschko, Maurice Harris, David Tua, Evander Holyfield, Jameel McCline and many more and how he found out that many of his contemporaries were using PEDs.

In This Episode: Another bourbon and coffee or “bourbee and coffee,” I slur. We have come to a crossroads and we need your help. Firstly, we need to up our cocktail game during taping. We can’t drink bourbon and coffee forever. Plus, we ran out of John’s bourbon anyway. We are on it. JUST YOU WAIT FOR SEASON TWO, FRIENDS. Secondly, merch. We are thinking stickers and coasters. Would you stick us to your stuff? Would you sit your glass on our faces and then drink from it and then put it back? Would you smile every time you looked down as you did it? These are the things we ask ourselves, on your behalf, multiple times a day. We get a phone call from Abigail Figueroa-Vera of Aby’s Upholstery!!! Gosh, we love her to death. She is the best and we feel beyond warm and fuzzies knowing we are reaching people. We then pivot to a discussion about art and the price of art as we enter the realm of Maurice Harris, a luxury florist, community coffee shop operator and performance artist, of Bloom & Plume in Los Angeles. My sister has visited his space in L.A. and I recently stumbled upon a New York Times article entitled: “Maurice Harris is a Superstar. Can He Bend Capitalism to His Talents?” What is it like to finally arrive at a place in your career when what you are making is something you could never afford? (Mind explosion). We see it as performing artists all the time in NYC. The price of a ticket to a Broadway show is more than three of my utilities in a month. Well, maybe not my summer ConEd bill, but you understand. The power of beauty. Capitalism. Creativity. Who Owns it? Can you bloom? Will you, even? Enjoy! Maurice Harris, the fine artist and floral sculptor known as 'Bloom & Plume', joins Heretic in celebrating the explicit scent of fresh florals for our latest perfume launch "Flower Porn". The concept of Flower Porn was inspired by the back rooms of a flower market, so we wanted to connect with an inspirational florist to hear about their experiences. When we found Maurice, we found someone whose work goes far beyond floral arrangements. His photography and art is a journey of self-love and self-discovery intended to help people see the world differently. Maurice's work centers on nude black bodies in lush botanical settings, inviting the viewer into an authentic and uncensored world of natural beauty. It's a kismet pairing, with both photograph and fragrance evoking the visceral sensation of stem-on-skin contact. You can view his photographic collaboration with Heretic along with our exclusive video interview with him on hereticparfum.com.

www.commsolutionsmn.com- We've said it so many times that y'all know exactly how we feel about odd year elections... we hate them. Very few people show up, so a small cabal can sway an entire election, and the rest of the electorate is stuck with whomever is selected. Golden Valley is one of those cities that employs these odd year contests. Andrew recently wrote an article on the subject, but we're going to give you a deeper look into the election. This year's race saw Mayor Shep Harris retain his seat over current City Council Member, Steve Schmidgall, but saw the DFL stalwarts Schmidgall and Joni Clausen being replaced by far left activists Maurice Harris and Kimberly Sanberg. They are looking to change zoning codes to increase density and low income housing, employ radical environmental policies, push social justice causes. Sanberg belongs to radical groups like NOW, Women Winning (abortion rights group), Stonewall DFL, Outfront and Minnesota. They are union-endorsed. They will join current Council Member Gillian Rosenquist to push Golden Valley even further to the left. So long, we hardly knew ye... The city of Boston is talking about renaming Dudley Square to Nubian Square in a non-binding vote. Why have an election for something, when the vote doesn't result in anything? So, we're going to change the name from a former governor of Massachusetts (that owned slaves) to honor the ancient Egyptians? Hello? Remember the book of Exodus? Don't ask us... we just report the news. We don't get it either. Also, congratulations to Dan Specht, who was on our podcast (Episode 132), because of a special election he was running in for Ward 3 in Ramsey. He won handily (60%-40%) over Josh Fuhreck. Have you checked out our Spotify playlist? At the beginning of each episode Jason quotes some song lyrics that have to do with the subject matter of the podcast. Andrew never knows what they are, but now he can… and so can you! We’ve launched the Spotify playlist: “Community Solutions Music From the Podcast!” You can listen to Roundabout from Yes after listing to Episode 30 on Roundabouts… or kick back and enjoy a rocking playlist just for the thrill of it. Tom Curran and Phil Perry give their reactions to Rodney Harrison's induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame and their early projections of New England's roster.1:14 - Hot off the Press - Tom asks an important question: Is there a bias against Patriots players being voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame? The Washington Redskins find themselves at 6-3 after 10 weeks of the 2018 NFL season -their best start to a season since 2008- and at 6-3 are two games clear of the Cowboys and Eagles who are both 4-5. In short, things are looking great for this team on paper. But this past weekends 16-3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a classic example of an 'ugly win', and today hosts Chad Ryan and Mark Phillips are going to try and figure out if that's a problem. We've also got an exclusive 1-on-1 with one of the emerging stars of the Washington Redskins, Wide Receiver Maurice Harris, so look out for that towards the end of today's show as it's a really insightful discussion that takes you inside the Redskins locker room. As always - Hail to the Redskins, and thanks for listening!

From the chillier than usual picnic tables, JP Finlay, Rich Tandler, Pete Hailey and John Keim bring you this edition of Redskins Talk, and there's a lot of good stuff going on. In this installment, you'll get plenty of hardcore football topics, including: Whether or not the guys think Maurice Harris will debut Sunday, everyone's over/unders regarding Alex Smith, Adrian Peterson and Josh Doctson and the debut of a Tandler-created segment where the hosts try to envision how Sunday's game will unfold. You'll also get a good amount of shtick, from Tandler doing a weird coin-toss prediction bit to Pete attempting plenty of zings and missing with most of them. If you like podcasts where JP and John share a really touching moment and there's lots of minivan discussion, then this is the episode for you.
Since you made it through the NFL offseason, you deserve a BONUS POD. In this particular bonus pod, you'll hear JP Finlay's postgame interviews with three players following the Redskins' preseason game in New England. Those guys are Tim Settle, Maurice Harris, and Colt McCoy, who just so happened to be three of the most productive guys in the exhibition contest. Be sure to listen to what those three 'Skins had to say about their performances vs. the Pats. But before all that, you'll get to relive all of the best action from Week 1 featuring calls from the most notable plays that took place in Foxboro. If you like podcasts that are the perfect complement to Redskins Talk's typical postgame product, then this is the episode for you.
I was able to snag a few minutes with Quinton Dunbar, Greg Stroman and Maurice Harris one on one.
It's a special day on Redskins Talk, because our bud Jackson brought the second-ever Redskins Talk-themed sign to training camp. So, Jackson got to join JP Finlay, Rich Tandler, Mitch Tischler and Pete Hailey for this episode of the podcast. Practice was a bit lighter than usual today, with the backups getting more reps than the starters. Therefore, the hosts bounce around (more than they normally do, at least) and cover all sorts of things. Included: A chat about Trey Quinn's not-so-strong performance, more Maurice Harris hype, a nugget from JP on a sneaky cornerback, a note about Brian Quick on special teams and the usual "one thing" segment, which features a look at Josh Norman and Ryan Anderson. You'll also hear a cameo by NBC Sports Washington's Julie Donaldson and a story about JP almost getting destroyed by Mitch. And finally, today's interview is held with Jordan Reed, and JP asks the tight end just how much work he puts into his conditioning and about his growing bond with Alex Smith. If you like podcasts where Tandler's Millennial Meter starts going off and a hypothetical on what Mitch's first phone call from jail would be like is floated around, then this is the episode for you.
A whopping studio audience of three people joined JP Finlay, Rich Tandler, Mitch Tischler and Pete Hailey for this edition of Redskins Talk from Richmond, which comes to you after the first padded practice of 2018's camp. The first topic addressed is a tough one, as the guys break down Daron Payne's injury and discuss how big of a deal it is for him to miss a few weeks because of it. Then, they review Josh Doctson's media session, including him talking about his health following his MRI and one really interesting difference he sees between Alex Smith and Kirk Cousins. That leads nicely into JP's chat with Chris Thompson, another guy who is noticing how the team's new QB operates compared to the team's old one. Be sure to pay attention to those really cool details from Thompson, as well as his one word to describe Derrius Guice. Once the Thompson interview wraps, each host gives his daily takeaway, which includes notes on Robert Davis vs. Maurice Harris and a nice performance by Fabian Moreau. And finally, they break down a strange night they had in the city, which featured Pete getting owned by a stingy karaoke operator. If you like podcasts where you get incredible insight into how Smith acts as a leader and a passer and Pete botches the artist of Tandler's all-time favorite song, then this is the episode for you.

The Washington Redskins failed to capitalize after an impressive victory against the Seahawks last week. The team can’t seem to string together a game where the offense, defense, and special teams put together a good, full game. FP, Joe and LP talk who is to blame, there has been some talk about blaming Kirk, which the DTC crew all disagree, there has been talks about blaming the coaches which the crew is split on. Pryor jawed with a fan pregame, where LP thought that would lift his on-field play but unfortunately went 0/0. Maurice Harris had possibly the catch of the year, at least for the Redskins. The defense failed to stop the Vikings from getting in the end zone multiple times. While the offense went 2/4 in the red zone and 2/4 on fourth down conversions. The boys discuss the loss to the Vikings. At 32:29 the crew shifts to discuss the Wizards latest win streak and the capitals quietly stringing together a few good games. (Photo Credit: Televisa.com)
A Maurice Harris one on one interview and audio from the Josh Norman press conference.
In part one of Training Camp preview LP and FP share a fans perspective on the team including expectations and concerns, however in the second part the guys are joined by Manny Benton of Breaking Burgundy and Scout to give an insiders perspective on the team. Benton shares thoughts on Jordan Reed's tow injury, the upside potential of Maurice Harris, and discusses the revamped defensive line now under the direction of Jim Tomsula! If you love the Redskins, you need to listen to this! A little cross-talk between DTC and Breaking Burgundy is just what you need to get ready for all things Redskins Training Camp! #HTTR (Photo Credit: Redskins.com)
Rick and Matt are back to recap the win over the Vikings. We get into Kirk Cousins contract, his play, and how much he will likely cost the Redskins. We talk about the defense pitching another shutout in the 2nd half. We also get into the play of Rob Kelley, Ty Nsekhe, and Maurice Harris. After the break we get into the twitter questions and talk about how bad the Wizards bench is.
