I love to share all types of peoples stories. The world is made up of many amazing people that do amazing things. People like Mike tend to fly under the radar just based on their humble personalities. So I thought it would be great to share. Please check him out at www.peakonebuilders.com I appreciate you listening. Please share the podcast and give it a 5 star if you would take the time. Would love more people to hear more great stores. Follow me on IG @iamthedelo Love you all. Mike's bio below: Michael Christensen has been in the construction industry since 1993. He began working as a residential framer in the suburbs of Chicago. Framing post and beam houses, as well as conventional framed homes, he quickly realized his true passion. He owned a residential remodeling company for over 5 years. At the same time, he attended Northern Illinois University, where he earned a degree in engineering. He had always dreamed of moving out west. He was immediately hired by a large, respected structural engineering firm in Arizona. While working at the firm, he also built spec homes after receiving his General Contractor's license in 2002. His job duties as a structural engineer included the structural design of residential homes up to 17,000 square feet and commercial buildings made of concrete, steel, wood, and masonry up to 3 stories. His duties also included structural building inspections in numerous city jurisdictions. In 2004, he decided to follow his passion of building houses full time. His Midwest work ethic combined with his integrity, professionalism, and experience make the heart of his company, Peak One Builders. He enjoys the various challenges that come with building a new home. He listens to what a homeowner wants, and will do whatever it takes to bring their ideas to fruition. With his guidance, planning, and expertise, you can rest assured that you are in good hands from day one. One major benefit of working with a small company, in addition to being treated like family, is the time you are able to spend directly with the builder. Whether a quick chat to go over minor details on the phone, or sitting down whenever needed to discuss changes, plans, or concerns, Peak One Builders will be available when it is most convenient for you. Peak One Builders pay attention to detail, no matter how casual or extravagant the home they are building might be. Mike encourages ideas and input throughout the entire building process. He builds each home as if he were going to move in it himself. When asked what his favorite, and perhaps most overlooked aspect of design is, he will probably laugh and tell you ceilings. “A unique ceiling not only gives a great wow-factor, but it can also inspire people to think outside the box they may be living in within their own lives. Nothing brings me more satisfaction than creating a space where people can relax and be comfortable. It feels really great to know I had a part in that. A home shouldn't be just a place to store your things, it should be a place where you want to spend your time.”

Have you ever heard of Romantic Theology? Sounds good, doesn't it? Let's find out more with Dr. Michael J. Christensen. After becoming a Christian at the age of 13, I developed some habits and behaviors which could have been considered prudish, ironically quite contrary to my generally outgoing personality. Not committing adultery or fornication before marriage became my obsession for over a decade, carefully studying the meaning of the word, along with fornication, the way other teens might have devoured those certain National Geographics or hard to come by Playboys. How was a Christian adolescent survive a normal increase in testosterone which felt more like an abnormal bomb going off in my body? “Be careful of those things which could naturally lead to inappropriate sexual intimacy in your relationships with girls,” I heard from Rev. Bob Letzinger during a mid-winter conference at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Pittsburgh. Amazingly he confessed to having a climax the first time he ever held hands with a girl. His talk was famous, and we knew it was coming, but did he really say that? And he kept going, warning about the hugs which lasted too long, the times alone without accountability, the dates which lasted too late into the night. As if all of that wasn't enough, my very best friend sitting next to me (who currently holds a very prestigious position as a professor of theology at a premier evangelical seminary) looked over at me and noticed the mark on my neck. He looked like he had seen a snake as his face turned red and his hands started to shake. Quietly and accusingly he pointed at it, trying not to be obvious as the speaker continued, “That's a hickey,” he said with wide eyes. I hadn't known about hickeys until the previous evening with my long-term high school girlfriend, Kathy. You remember those days, your first love, the power of attraction, the depth of longing. Could that tell us anything about God and the Church? Let's ask Dr. Michael J. Christensen. professor of theology at Northwind Seminary.

Merry Christmas. Thank you for listening to this week’s episode of Sharing the Light. My name is Michael Christensen. Your reviews and passing this along to family and friends is greatly appreciated. I believe in Divine Design. In October 2017, Ronald A Rasband gave a General Conference talk by this title. In that message, he quoted Neal A. Maxwell as follows: “None of us ever fully utilizes the people-opportunities allocated to us within our circles of friendship. You and I may call these intersectings ‘coincidence.’ This word is understandable for mortals to use, but coincidence is not an appropriate word to describe the workings of an omniscient God. He does not do things by ‘coincidence’ but … by ‘divine design’” (Neal A. Maxwell, Brim with Joy, Brigham Young University devotional, Jan. 23, 1996). Said Elder Rasband: “Our lives are like a chessboard, and the Lord moves us from one place to another—if we are responsive to spiritual promptings. Looking back, we can see His hand in our lives.” Elder Bednar has also taught this principle. In his book One by One, he said, “I believe that in the work of the Lord there is no such thing as coincidence,” And “Tender mercies … are frequently delivered one by one through the instrumentality or another person.” Today, I want to share with you the events of one day I experienced in the mission field. One day filled with Divine Design and Tender Mercies.
