Annie Looby, Hoffman Process Senior Facilitator in Australia and Gestalt Psychotherapist is our delightful and wise guest today. For much of her life, Annie has had an extensive career in the performing arts, including film, television, and theatre. Then, in 2014, Annie found the Hoffman Process. She decided to do the Process after witnessing the change in her husband after he completed it. During her Process, Annie experienced a shame attack so painful that she wanted to leave. Her teacher guided her to see that everything Annie was looking for was just on the other side of this painful moment. If Annie could just stay with it, she would find what she was looking for. In this pivotal moment, Annie found the strength and resolve to stay. Listen in to hear what she discovered on the other side. While in her Process, Annie realized that the work of the Process was the work she'd been searching for to do in the world. Annie's first step to becoming a Hoffman teacher was to study to become a therapist. She returned to school for graduate studies in psychotherapy. From there, she trained to become a Hoffman facilitator and has worked for Hoffman since. Annie is fascinated with the human condition and why we are the way we are. Over time as a teacher, she learned to lean back and trust the Process. Listen in as Annie shares her wisdom and experience of teaching the Process. More about Anne Looby: Annie is a Senior Facilitator of the Hoffman Process in Australia as well as working privately as a Counsellor and Gestalt Psychotherapist. With a background in the performing arts, Annie is also an accomplished actor (NIDA), producer, and teacher with more than 30 years of experience. The arts have been a major focus of her life and she has an unwavering belief in the power of creative expression as a healing force. Whether music, art, theatre, or literature, Annie loves the human capacity to create meaning in all expressive forms. As a Facilitator of the Hoffman Process, Annie has witnessed first-hand the power of this deep and life-changing process. “I continue, each time I teach the Process, to deepen my understanding of the beauty, frailty, and resilience of the human spirit – it is an absolute privilege to bear witness to each participant's courage and inherent goodness.” Discover more about Anne on Linkedin and Wikipedia. As mentioned in this episode: Four Stages of Competence: Unconscious incompetence Conscious incompetence Conscious competence Unconscious competence Volker Krohn - Director, Hoffman Australia; Hoffman Supervising Facilitator Chair, Hoffman International Listen to Volker on the Hoffman Podcast Kerri Chinner was Annie's Process teacher. Annie shares that Kerri no longer teaches the Process but remains a beloved team member. The Paradoxical Theory of Change Transference Awareness Hell: In Awareness hell, we are aware of the patterns that we have that we wish we didn't have. We see them but don't yet know how to change. To get out of awareness hell, our work to grow and transform must include three additional steps for change to happen These three steps are Expression, Compassion, and New Ways of Being. All four make up the Cycle of Transformation.

I'm very passionate about powerful women in business. Women who chase their dreams in spite of obstacles. Women who are resilient, that get back up and brush themselves off. Today, our guest is one of those powerful women. I am privileged to welcome our latest podcast guest, Jessica Kiely. Jessica is the co-founder of Sensor.I.am which is a nature perfume company. I first met Jessica when we were at speaker's training many years ago. It was quite a journey for her as she went through the ups and downs of business, challenges with business partners and other obstacles that many business owners face. Jessica, being a strong business woman, overcame those challenges and picked herself up to become not only a successful entrepreneur but also a keynote speaker in the natural beauty space, armed with eagerness to work out her unique selling proposition AND living by it. Tune in to this empowering and fun episode as we explore making our business standout with a fresh and invigorating perspective. We'll talk finding the ultimate value in customer feedback, adjusting our focus, stepping out of our industries for a new perspective, and mastering ourselves and our patterns. We'll be talking about: ➡ [00:00] Introduction ➡ [3:42] Jessic Kiely's amazing business ➡ [5:35] Taking a sensory based item online ➡ [09:07] Subscription boxes ➡ [11:45] Owning your own brand space ➡ [16:41] Is this the right business for you ➡ [20:00] It's a not all smooth sailing ➡ [21:52] I'm not finished yet ➡ [27:34] Seeking new skills ➡ [31:30] Forming a good partnership ➡ [34:07] Ongoing focus ➡ [40:04] Doing it differently ➡ [42:23] Finding the pattern ➡ [46:09] Struggling with your business ➡ [48:12] Jessica's favourite book ➡ [48:39] Check out Jessica's website ➡ [49:54] Jessica's dream superpower ➡ [50:46] Jessica's favourite quote ➡ [51:09] Jessica's advice to her past self About our Guest: Jessica Kiely is the co-founder of the natural perfume collective SENSOR.I.AM and keynote speaker in the natural beauty and wellbeing space. She inspires professionals to engage with life from a place of curiosity, playfulness and pleasure. Jessica's deep dive into natural beauty began in 2015 in response to a very personal life upheaval. This massive change forced her to question all elements of her life, including the integrity of products she was putting into and onto her body on a daily basis. In search of new answers, Jessica immersed herself in the world of natural beauty. She studied Low Tox Living with Alexx Stuart and natural perfume-making with Nature Care College, and was fortunate to interview natural beauty founders in New York, Hong Kong, France and Australia to deepen her understanding of this important niche. In 2016, she established her first green beauty business to help other consumers make more conscious choices. Over time, her focus evolved into curating 100% botanical perfumes to replace the synthetic fragrances that desensitise and numb us in our modern world. Her passion for re-awakening the senses and forging a deeper-connection with ourselves and nature gave rise to SENSOR.I.AM. These days, as a speaker and facilitator, Jessica shares SENSOR.I.AM's message with corporate teams and wellness communities around the world. She hopes that by sharing practical wisdom and energising stories about natural beauty and wellbeing she can inspire participants to make decisions that are right for them. Jessica has 20 years of experience as a speaker/facilitator for global leaders in countries as diverse as India, Singapore and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and audiences that include the likes of IBM, EY, Westpac, CBA, Sydney and Macquarie Universities, and every level of government in every Australian state. Her depth and breadth of experience as a speaker helps her to create novel and dynamic experiences for her audiences. In fact, she is renowned for her vivacious energy and have been described as “highly intuitive, sharp and always on point". In her time away from SENSOR.I.AM, she is an enthusiastic archer, a passionate advocate of her dad's abstract art exhibition (www.mykidscoulddothat.com); co-founder of artisan chai apothecary Tiger Purrr; and a Master Trainer and Senior Facilitator with Speakers' Institute Corporate, supporting professionals around the world to uplevel their presentation and communication skills. Beate Nimsky has been practicing energy work, healthy nutrition and consciousness for over thirty years. Therefore, there was an immediate inner approval for her to actively shape the implementation of the philosophy of BIOTONUS.In 1986, she moved to the car rental company interRent as sales manager for Bavaria. With a participative and motivating management style, she succeeded in leading the existing sales team, which had been the lowest turnover in Germany, to second place within one year with an almost 40% increase in turnover. In 1989, Beate Nimsky decided to become self-employed. She did not want to go along with the new direction of interRent with the merger with Europcar, which she accompanied internally, despite the tempting offer to move to the management in Hamburg.Through the "time out" due to the car accident in 1987, it had gradually become clear to her that her natural ability to manage people was a talent to which she consciously devoted herself in various ways.On the one hand, she underwent various leadership trainings over the years, including Mastery University with Anthony Robbins, Brian Tracy's Leadership and Sales Program, and training as a Senior Facilitator with Chinese Master Mantak Chia and Certified Facilitator with Access Consciousness. And on the other hand, she learned how to use pragmatic diagnostic tools for personality and competence development, studied for two and a half years alongside her self-employment to complete her Master of Science degree, and successively built up her company.Together with her husband Martin Nimsky, she founded the "Institute for Intrinsic Competence", which has set itself the task of enabling people to access their innermost potential, to find out about blockages and to dissolve them, so that they can live their individual talent. However, she is not only booked for leadership trainings to build up relationship competence at C-level or coaching for board members, but also for strategy conferences in which she gives impulses for vision and mission development and adapts and moderates them to the orientation of the company. In doing so, she accompanies companies from a wide range of industries, such as white goods, automotive, engineering, credit unions and financial services companies, real estate, horticulture and mobile homes, as well as food retail.Beate Nimsky now puts all her knowledge, enthusiasm and energy for action into successfully building up the biotonus network and running the biotonus Corporation USA. Her personal motto is: BAM - Business Anders Machen (Business Done Different). Integrative, participative, appreciative, focused, success- and result-oriented, supportive and with a lot of fun and love for life.

What are the common understandings of why we celebrate Black History Month and for whom do we celebrate it? Are the moments of pride for Black communities the same as the national narratives and how are the continued protests for civil rights framed by both? This cafe explores how Black History Month both helps and hinders forward movement for the Black community. How much are we talking about current Black Lives vs. the narrowed framing of past leaders with universal appeal (such as Martin Luther King)? How much does the American narrative obscure the specifics of how Black identity is experienced across the border and beyond? How much of the inequity gap have we really closed? In this episode Senior Facilitator, Mahlon Evans-Sinclair and guests, Akilah Hamilton, Parker Johnson and Jessica Oddy, take stock of where we are, how we got here and how we move forward while building collective capacity and courage. Alain Hunkins is a best-selling author and the CEO of Hunkins Leadership Group. He is also a Senior Facilitator for Eagle’s Flight, The Energy Project, and futurethink, as well as a Senior Consultant for JMReid Group. He is a professional with over two decades of experience in leadership training, facilitation, and organizational development. He joins Marcel Schwantes to discuss the three foundational competencies of good leadership. According to research, only 23% of people think that their leaders are leading well. When the wrong people are put into positions of leadership, it results in disengagement, turnover, poor performance, anxiety and stress, Marcel cites. [00:43] Because of the power differential, most people don’t feel comfortable speaking up and telling their leaders the truth about their leadership. Alain claims that this allows bad leadership to perpetuate itself. [6:33] Charisma and confidence are good, but they don't make leaders. Ultimately, leadership is a skill that can be cultivated and improved when you practice the three competencies of a good leader, which are: connection, communication, and collaboration. [11:46] At its core, leadership is a relationship between a leader and a follower, and what creates that strong relationship is connection. Empathy forms the basis of connection. Alain defines empathy as showing people you understand them. [16:49] Communication is a means to an end. The goal of communication is to create a shared, accurate understanding. Understanding is seeing reality the way someone else sees it, Alain explains. The reason shared understanding is so critical is because it is the platform on which we stand to take all future action, he adds. [21:24] We have to fulfill four fundamental needs in order to achieve optimal performance, Alain shares. These are physical and psychological safety, energy, ownership, and purpose. [28:16] Marcel asks Alain why he thinks some people still lead through fear. “It’s less work,” Alain replies. It takes a certain level of maturity to move beyond fear. When we have been raised on fear, it is an easy go-to strategy of leadership because humans copy the behaviors of those before and around them. < 28:22 > Research published 30 June 2020 by the Adecco Group, 'Resetting Normal: Defining the new era of work', captures input from 8,000 office-based workers in eight countries. Five trends are emerging. In this episode, I interview highly commended former Royal Australian Air Force Leadership expert, Mark Jones, about these 5 changes to workplace culture: 1. The future of work will be flexible. A hybrid model of a perfect mix of remote and office work will be the norm. 2. Tracking results, not number of hours, as the new way to measure productivity. 3. High-EQ leadership is the new best practice, but leaders need to lift their game in that area. Workers want leaders to display more empathy and support for their mental wellbeing during worklife after the pandemic. Managers will need help knowing these new norms and behaviours. 4. Increased appetite for upskilling in digital skills as well as soft skills and how to manage remote working. 5. Workers surveyed feel it's up to employers to understand there's a shift, and be proactive to drive these changes (not rely on workers to ask for it). MARK JONES, Dip. Assessment and Workplace Training, RAAF Leadership training, NLP Practitioner, former Leadership trainer with the Royal Australian Air Force, is a dynamic Leadership Facilitator (Brisbane) with over 19 years' experience in learning and development. Formerly a Senior Facilitator in Airmen Leadership for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), the Commander of RAAF Training awarded Mark a commendation for excellence in Leadership training. Alain Junkins is the Managing Director of Hunkins Leadership Group, and Leadership Development Consultant at AlainHunkins.com. He is also Senior Facilitator at Eagle’s Flight, futurethink, and The Energy Project, as well as Senior Consultant at JMReid Group. He chats with Kevin Monroe about his bestselling book, Cracking the Leadership Code: Three Secrets to Building Strong Leaders, and shares insights about becoming great stewards in the workplace in light of current events. Leader of the Future Many leaders see people as human resources instead of human beings. They are still stuck in the industrial age mindset, Alain says. The leader of the future must be able to embrace both masculine and feminine archetypal energies in order to effectively carry out their duties. Alain gives examples of good and bad leadership during the current global crisis. He and Kevin also comment on the civil unrest within America, talk about their privilege as white men, and call for systemic change in order to combat racial oppression. Qualities that Leaders Need to Have Kevin cites Alain’s book about the four important characteristics of good leaders according to a study involving 1700 CEOs from 64 countries and 18 industries. The four characteristics are: communicative; collaborative; flexible; and creative. These soft skills are essential for today’s leaders because the industrial-age, hierarchical, command, and control style of leadership doesn’t work anymore. Leaders should instead see themselves as facilitators of groups. The Three Secrets The three secrets to building strong leaders are connection, communication, and collaboration, in that order. Alain describes the model for these principles as concentric circles that include each one before it. Rather than a title or position, leadership is a relationship between one who chooses to lead and one who chooses to follow. The quality of that relationship is based on the quality of their connection, communication and collaboration. In addition, the person who chooses to follow has the final say about the quality of the relationship, and only 23% of leaders understand this. Alain details each secret, how they intersect with one another, and how they apply currently. The Three Trends The three trends of the current working world are choice, transparency, and technology. These trends largely make up the key differences between the 21st and 20th centuries: past generations were not aware that they had a choice in following a leader, neither were they able to access the technologies that we have today. Subsequently, there was barely any demand for transparency. Alain calls on leaders to become familiar with discomfort; if you’re always comfortable then you’re not growing.
