A conversation with children's book author, Anandamayi Baker, about her inspiration for writing Bee-Coming Strong.  You can find Anandamayi Baker online at: https://anandamayibaker.com/ A note from Anandamayi Baker:As a child growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, nature served me as a protective friend. I would spend countless hours studying ants on their journey to and from their nests, fascinated by how they walked in continuous streams of small black lines, always seeming to know just what they were doing. Just being with these seemingly insignificant little beings was so calming to me. It helped me forget all my troubles and challenges by bringing me into an entirely different universe. Whether it was being with ants, lizards, frogs, bees, trees or weeds, nature uplifted me. My grandfather was a tremendous influence on me in terms of piquing my interest in the natural world. He was the one who helped us build boxes out of cardboard and collect the monarch caterpillars so that we could study them up close. It was a mind-blowing mystery for me to be able to feed them and observe as each became a beautiful chrysalis, complete with what looked like tiny golden jewels encircling it. And to watch them hatch? Pure and utter delight and wonder, a phenomenon that is amazing to see at any age. After graduating from UC Davis, I lived in both Idaho and Arizona, finally settling in southern California after finding my spiritual home with the Yoga Center of California. For many years I was blessed to work on magnificent Palomar Mountain in San Diego County, serving in the store and restaurant that are owned by the Yoga Center.  Living on Palomar placed me in a wonderland for engaging nature. The innumerable stars at night, the brilliant blue skies in the day, the heady fragrance of the pines and oaks, the rocks, butterflies, birds – a feast for all the senses. And I was completely charmed by the bees who used to walk around the palms of my hands when I meditated outside in the forest. It felt magical. When children connect with nature something marvelous can manifest. I think it is one of the most important gifts we can give them. Feeling connected to nature can be transformative for children, allowing them to move beyond themselves and their challenges into something much greater and grander. It can help foster a respect for nature and for life itself, which I believe is crucial not only for our beleaguered planet, but also for helping us appreciate the interdependence of all of life. Children who feel at home in nature tend to become more inquisitive about this incredible planet we share. Feeling connected to nature can help children and adults alike feel happier and more whole and inquisitive about this incredible planet we share. I desire to plant seeds of curiosity about life both within and around us. I want to share tools that have enabled me to find inner peace and fulfillment beyond my dreams. What I write about comes from my own experiences. I hope you find some gems that will serve you and your children. Together we may thrive!Connect with us! Welcome to Episode #85 of the Wild Yoga Tribe Podcast! My conversation with Fakhria Momtaz, a yoga teacher from Afghanistan, was so incredible as we took a deep dive into what it was like to open the yoga studio in Afghanistan and all the risks and challenges that presented. I hope that this conversation made you realize how yoga is so important, that it is worth the risk because it is a necessity for a community to have access to. If you're looking to tune into a podcast episode that is all about yoga in Afghanistan then this is the conversation for you. Support the podcast: https://www.patreon.com/wildyogatribe For the skimmers - What's in the yoga in Afghanistan episode? The enormous risk of opening a yoga studio in Afghanistan What it meant for women in Afghanistan to have access to yoga Yoga is science, art, culture, and a bridge to history  Humans are born with yoga Yoga is essential for people all over the world to help people find peace and harmony within themselves and with others Tell me more about Fakhria Ibrahimi Momtaz Fakhria Momtaz is the first yoga studio owner in Afghanistan. She founded Momtaz Yoga Studio in 2017, though she began studying yoga over 15 years ago. She teaches yoga to Afghan women refugees through the Yoga Alliance Foundation. Currently, she herself is a refugee in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan, where she teaches to refugees and holds online yoga classes for women in the USA, Canada, and Europe. As the founder of the only Yoga Center in Afghanistan, that provides yoga and welfare services to women, Fakhria Ibrahimi Momtaz is a pillar in the global yoga community and has been of great service to the women of Afghanistan.  Fakhria is currently working towards her Bachelor of Science of Yoga Education with SVYASA, Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samathana. She is the recipient of many awards including the “Seeds of Change Award” on International Women's Day 2018 for the “Best Female Business Person.” Although she is now internationally celebrated, she was hunted by fundamentalists in Afghanistan in 2020 because of her yoga work and had to escape Afghanistan and move to Pakistan. What to expect in the Yoga In Afghanistan episode of the Wild Yoga Tribe Podcast Fakhria Momtaz shares her journey to open a yoga studio in a country where the practice of yoga was not accepted. She faced challenges and resistance from the government, and even had to put her life at risk to open her studio, but she never gave up. Fakhria explains her definition of yoga, which includes science, health, art, beauty, culture, harmony, and bridge to history. She believes that yoga is something humans are born with, as babies naturally fall into yoga pose shapes. Fakhria received her education and training in yoga through attending the International Yoga Festival in Rishikesh, India, and enrolling in a Bachelor's program in yoga at SVYASA University. Currently, she herself is a refugee in Islamabad, Pakistan, where she teaches yoga to refugees and conducts online yoga classes for women in the USA, Canada, and Europe. Despite the obstacles, Fakhria persevered in bringing yoga to the women of Afghanistan, making a significant contribution to the global yoga community.

Danielle, from The Single Truth podcast, and I, are back with the wonderfully insightful Yogi Amrit Desai (affectionately known as Gurudev) for a discussion on how to have perfect relationships. We delve deep into what is needed to achieve this with help from Gurudev's book 'The Yoga of Relationships' and also go through some real-life examples that you can apply to your own life.Gurudev also takes us through a brilliant meditation which is certainly worth doing at the end! I really enjoyed this conversation and I hope you do too.Key Takeaways:Once you have the power to accept yourself as you are, you have the power to accept others as they are.Often in relationships, people look for others to provide what they are lacking in themselves. You will not find it because the problem is hidden inside you! Most people interact with the present through the eyes of their past. It's important to let go of the past and your 'toxic memory stress centre' in order to live in the present moment and be truly happy. We can get so caught up in finding the right partner that we forget to be the right partner. You don't have to be perfect in self-acceptance all the time! As long as you have the intention, practice is key.No one can control the thinking of others! So sit back, enjoy with an open mind - Stay Curious, and Stay Free and, very importantly, please do let us know what you think in the comments or the reviews. Thank you. Welcome to Episode #49 of the Wild Yoga Tribe Podcast! This week, I welcome Cori Giunti onto the show. She is a yoga teacher from Argentina and a psychologist as well. My conversation with Cori was so touching as we took a deep dive into the spiritual world of Kundalini yoga, and the world of mental health as well. I hope that this conversation made you curious about the mind-body connection and how yoga can help process trauma and psychological issues. If you're looking to tune into a podcast episode that is all about Kundalini yoga and mental health then this is the conversation for you. Tell me more about Cori Giunti Cori Giunti is a Kundalini Yoga instructor. She currently teaches weekly classes at the Yoga Center, Valletierra, applying other tools to awaken consciousness. She has been a practitioner of Kundalini yoga for 9 years, and did her yoga teacher training in Argentina, and has studied under Snatam Kaur. Her passion is to serve people in order to feel good, get better, and become more connected and more conscious. She is a psychologist as well as a yoga teacher. What to expect in the Yoga In Argentina episode of the Wild Yoga Tribe Podcast Cori and I then dove into what Kundalini yoga is and what practicing it is like. She defined Kundalini yoga as the yoga of awareness. And even though it involves physical movement and asanas, it's not the primary focus. Kundalini includes a lot of mantras, chanting, singing, pranayama, and movement. We then dove into how yoga has impacted Cori's life, and how yoga can help her patients and people in general process trauma and work through the emotions that are blocked and stored in our bodies. We then talked about what yoga is to Cori, a place where she feels safe and a place to feel a lot of love. Curious? Tune into the podcast episode For the skimmers - What's in the yoga in Argentina episode? What is kundalini yoga and kundalini energy? Kundalini: The Yoga of Awareness Yoga is a commitment to yourself Don't look outside all the time, the answers to your questions are inside of you The emotions we block settle in our bodies Yoga is a place of love, safety, and vast openness

During the pandemic she found a way to stay in touch with her loyal following by doing on line and zoom classes.  She's now found a way to incorporate all of that plus the in person classes for students as well at Soma Yoga Center in Boston's Historic North End.
