In this conversation, physical therapist Kimmy Wiley and Jared Vagy discuss TFCC wrist injuries in rock climbers. They cover the definition and location of the TFCC, common symptoms, and tests to diagnose the injury. They also discuss the importance of deloading and modifying climbing movements to avoid aggravating the injury. Kimmy shares her approach to rehab, which includes gradually building mobility and strength in a progressive manner. They emphasize the need for individualized exercises and the importance of pain management during the rehab process. Kimmy Wiley's Bio Kimmy Wiley is a doctor of physical therapy and owner of Peak Pursuit Performance & Rehab- an online physical therapy and strength and conditioning service for outdoor athletes. While Kimmy has had experience in most physical therapy settings, she has found a passion for sports therapy- specifically for adventure sport athletics. In today's episode, we're discussing wrist injuries and wrist related pain due to climbing. We often meet patients worried that they've injured their TFCC (more on this in the episode), which can be a serious injury. But this is quite rare, and there are other more common causes and sources to a climber's wrist pain than just the TFCC. This is also highlighted in a recent paper by Schöffl and colleagues (article here: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37800447/). We discuss different injury mechanisms, such as slopers and underclings, and how to both manage and hopefully prevent wrist pain and wrist injuries.   For more information about us, you can find us on Instagram and our websites:James: @sheffieldclimbingclinic / www.sheffieldclimbingclinic.comStian: @stianchristophersen / https://www.klatrebibelen.com/stian-christophersenFeel free to drop us a message with questions or subjects you would like us to address, and if you like what we're doing, please support us at patreon.com/ClimbingInjuryPodcast

Dr. Candice Teunis discusses TFCC injuries with Dr. Layci Harrison live from the Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Update. You compared wrist injuries to low back pain Low back pain has so many different causes and ulnar wrist pain is so similar You do not always have to have all of the answers on your first interaction. Using a differential diagnosis is super helpful. I think it is either this or this…here are some options for both of these. What are the red flags for ATs to be referring? Ulnar wrist pain is fairly forgiving If you think the DREJ is unstable then you really need to get fixed quickly On the ulnar side are the differences in age? Yes, all of our joints wear down over time and those needs to be considered. We see traumatic injuries as well as chronic issues. Recovery in age differences In older patients we are astarting to see some wear in the joint and lengthens the recovery time.  The wrist has to be unloaded in some of the older patients the you would not with younger patients. Reinjury risk? Pediatric patients are more likely due to the constant motion This can be trick since the imaging show the repair.  You really have to look critically at this point. How can we help prevent reinjury of the TFCC? Strengthening helps Pronator strengthening ECU work Most of the stuff we do not have control over except for the gymnastic population due to the constant weight bearing on their wrists. Should we be limited movement in gymnastics? It would help but its nearly impossible. These kids tend to live with some amount of pain and ignore but it eventually catches up with them. What should we be teaching students about interprofessional communication? Develop a personal relationship with the people around you. ATs can benefit by connecting with hand therapists to help improve the outcome for the patients. Getting a congruent plan benefits all parties. EP 13: BONUS  What does a broken arm and a pink cast have to do with great timing? How to take advantage of timing. How to Bend Time for a Busy Mom Hey friends. So what does a pink cast in a plate in my arm with seven screws have to do with great timing. That's what I'm going to let you know about. This was recorded back in 2015, when I had an injury and I wanted to share the information with you. So we'll see you on the inside. Let's dive in. Hey guys, it's Angie Tonini- Rogers. So I have a message to share today because on Saturday Keysha Bass on prosperity mindset call. I was listening to a repeat of that. And on Sunday, pastor Ronnie Harrison preached this and Monday on the way to work, being on my Sirius XM radio channel, preached this yesterday on the way home preach this. So clearly I need to share this with someone else because someone else needs to hear this- because I am getting this message over and over and over…it's timing. And it's timing is everything. And it is stop comparing yourself to other people and where they are because you are in the right place at the right time. And as long as you continue to take action during that time that you're in, you will have your success. You will have your promise. You will, you will attain whatever goal it is that you are working on. It will happen in the timing that it's supposed to happen. Not necessarily in the time and that you want it or you desire it. We don't always know what we ask for. Number one, we ask for it. But number two, sometimes we don't know the ramifications that will happen if we were to get that thing we're asking for right in that moment. So you have to understand that timing is everything and it will happen when it's supposed to happen. Quick story. What of my thing? You know, my, my broken arm here, I injured my cartilage in my wrist and it's called the TFCC. I ripped it a little bit. There was a micro tear in April. Well, it kind of, it healed enough; Or I adapted enough to where I could go back and start doing what I was doing before at work. You can't work where I work with an injury just because it's not safe to do so. So it healed enough. And I adapted enough to where I could go back. Well in September it tour again. And then I was out and I was out from September until, uh, February. We did a lot of PT. We did a lot of OT, just a lot of different appointments to try to see if there's anything else that needs to be done before surgery got scheduled. Well, it ends up, I needed surgery. So in February on the sixth, I think I was scheduled for surgery while I'll get a call the week before saying the surgeon cannot do that, or it wasn't February six might have been the third. Anyway, it, it was. Um, and so then the surgeon called and said, we can't do it that date. So it ended up getting scheduled the day after I returned from my Atlanta trip. And then I had the surgery, they had to actually break my ulnar bone and put a plate and seven screws in it. So I'm not a good experience at all, but nevertheless, an experience. So I had a cat, I had like a soft cast. And then I went on this Monday, not this Monday, but a Monday to get my cast, my hard cast, this cute little thing, but on, and then that, um, it just so happens that on that day there were some leadership changes that happened. And I was able to on Tuesday morning, get called in and asked, can I come and help on an interim basis, cover this position? Okay. New experience, new things that I knew, challenges for me and a new learning experience. And it is being spoken to all around me. So whether or not I need to share my testimony with you so that you know, that things will happen in their own time. And sometimes things will happen that you don't expect to happen, or you think is a bad thing, but ended up being something that helps get you to the right thing. So for example, who wants a broken arm? Not me, but if that's what it took to slow me down. And if that's what it took to get me to this spot, then that's what needed to have happened. So don't worry about what's going on. As long as you are doing the right thing and doing what you know how to do, you're seeking assistance, you are seeking, learning, and growing. Then you're on the right track. So timing is everything. Remember that? Hey friends, I hope you enjoy that episode on God's perfect timing. Even though things don't always work out the way we think it is always going to be perfect timing. Well, listen, how many of you guys have ever thought about starting your own podcast? Details are emerging of a new Studio Series movie range for 2018. https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/upc-codes-for-upcoming-2018-transformers-movie-toyline-hints-at-another-leader-figure-and-more-toys/40053/   00:56:08 We've seen blurry images but now Takara have released production shots of the new movie Masterpiece MPM-05. Barricade. It transforms in 40 steps, has diecast pieces and 30 points of articulation. http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/11/11/mpm-05-movie-masterpiece-barricade-official-images-353404?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook 01:03:56 Takara Tomy has revealed colour figure shots of MP-41 Masterpiece Dinobot in all his glory. The $245 USD price tag appears to be true and online retail has put up pre orders of accordingly. So who's buying it? http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/11/12/takara-tomy-mp-41-masterpiece-dinobot-stock-pictures-360-turnaround-views-353481?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook   Scale image:   01:11:55 It appears Takara might be about to make Brad faint with joy, as one of their designers have an interview for the Generations 2018 book we recently reported on, stating that their eventual goal for Masterpiece Beast Wars figures is Megatron. http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/transformers-masterpiece-beast-wars-megatron-in-the-works-at-takara/40048/   Other news 01:16:35 We all love the animated figures and although it was discussed on Transformers Legends this week we thought we'd take a look at this older piece of news also. Here we have A Plus Toys Animated Dirt Boss in Painted Prototype with Devastator Images http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/10/10/plus-toys-animated-dirt-boss-painted-prototype-devastator-images-351827?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook 01:17:58 Joining the 3p Combiner fight Fans Toys has announced FT-30 Ethereaon (Masterpiece Scale Aerialbots/Superion) with prototype images of thier silver bolt figure. http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/11/13/fans-toys-ft-30-ethereaon-masterpiece-scale-aerialbotssuperion-353519?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook Movie news 01:21:58 Finally in movie news, it appears the Bumblebee movie might be abandoning it's Generations name and just going out as Bumblebee The Movie http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/11/12/bumblebee-movie-news-roundup-wrap-353441 http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/2018-bumblebee-movie-name-logo-and-bumblebees-new-look-revealed-at-wrap-up-party/40004/ After 70 days Principal photography on the bumblebee movie has wrapped. News for the film will probably be light until February where we might possibly get a look at the new toyline, but there's probably not going to be a super bowl trailer as universal have mission impossible 6 and cloverfield 3 to promote. http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/11/11/bumblebee-robot-mode-head-title-card-revealed-bumblebee-movie-353401?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook 01:23:25 NEW ACQUISITIONS   Chris: Titans Return Quake, Energon Skorponok, Armada Tidal Wave Jason: GT Tyrant (IDW Stealth Bomber Megatron) 01:41:55 TCCA BUSINESS The Xmas donation drive is now open, some great prizes like mp megatron, shockwave and Sunstreaker as well as some 3p bots like TFcon exclusive sphinx and veteran war dog. In more interesting news there is a metalcraft Megatron bust, the final TFCC subscription toys have came in and we see what the special last figure is and are we getting a new Transformers game based on the new film? That's the show folks enjoy :)

Did you think it was over? It ain't over until Dr. Va'al, Seibertron, and Starscream return to say it's over! More post-BotCon thoughts from this crew await, are you in for the long haul? The three randomly assorted hard candies discuss, in spite of the elements and the sore throats, the various BotCon souvenirs, from the Dawn of the Predacus box set to the single toys - Megatron, Unit-3, Tigatron, Airazor, the Reflector 3-pack - the highlights, the surprises, the disappointments. They touch upon the various hauls, including comics and comics art as well as toys, and the differences between conventions, running by the gigantonormous dealer room (can you tell who's typing this section, by now?). Spending some good time on the artist alley population, from Hayato Sakamoto to Alex Milne, Sara Pitre-Durocher to Robby Musso, and more. Other topics discussed, of course, were the various panels that included reveals for the coming part of the year, from the Hasbro Brand panel, with Scrounge (!) and Overlord (!!) in the pipes, to the TFCC roundtable, featuring MP Ratbat, GI Joe crossovers, and Counterpunch taking over (much to our own Counterpunch's joy). They start speculating on the future of the Club, now that FunPub is DonePub, and it would actually be really interesting to hear what listeners think Hasbro should do with the concept - and with any possible incarnation of BotCon. Make sure to drop your suggestions in the comments! Before the segment is over, though, they also make sure to note the highest points of the event: the people who attend, year after year or for the very first time, what really makes the whole experience what it is. The show ends with a short editorial segment from yours truly. If this is the end of Botcon, let's remember it fondly, and find hope in the possibilities of the future.

One of this years SDCC exclusives has been revealed and boy does it ROCK! Hear what the cast thinks of this set and who actually wants to own one. We've finally gotten the TFCC membership exclusive Rampage figure in hand we were certainly impressed, but there was one thing we weren't thrilled about ... and some of us even broke down and bought Rampage's partner in crime, Trans-mutate. The first subscription service figure, Barricade and Frenzy, is finally in hand for the cast so you'll have to tune in to hear our thoughts! With about a week to go, the cast breaks down some Botcon 2014 rumors and what we hope to see next week. The second release of Masterpiece Grimlock has been spotted at retail recently. While some of us were lucky enough to get our paws on the first run, there are some differences that may have us reaching into our wallets again for this beauty. New images of Masterpiece Sunstorm hit and, well, he sure is bright and sunny? Up next the cast discusses the continuing AOE onslaught of new figures! Included in this bombardment is Deluxe Strafe. Another new figure released is the Optimus Prime Evolution 2 pack which ends up intriguing the entire cast. More TV spots for AOE! Even though a lot of us are disappointed that there will be no Hall of Fame dinner event this year, there has been voting going on for the new inductees for the Hall of Fame. Tune in to hear what goes in to the voting process and who we think should be added. We close out the night with some confessions, errr I mean some bragging rights!

As usual we talk a bunch of toys, but instead of highlighting a few of them with this post, I really wanted to focus on what has me most excited right now, Attack on Cobra Island. What's Attack on Cobra Island you say? It's an amazing old school 16 bit side scrolling G.I. Joe brawler. It is literally the game that every red blooded 80s G.I. Joe fan should've wanted back in the day. In just a few minutes of playing you can easily tell that it is a labor of love. IP infringing, fangasming love. While I roll with a pretty loose set of ethics when it comes to IP and the fandom, I believe not-for-profit projects like this need to be celebrated. Huge thanks to Justin over at General's Joes for posting about this.

How about a Transformer that turns into 6 different things? No, I got it, a UFO Transformer with an old school bubble helmet.
