France-based Théa Laboratories may be only 27 years old, but its legacy goes back 150 years. It reaches back to the 1870s, when ophthalmologist Paul Chibret became fascinated with trachoma. He would later help found the French Society of Ophthalmology. Five generations of Chibret doctors and entrepreneurs later, the Chibret family's passion for eye care has led to the development of one of Europe's leading eye-care companies. Now led by chairman Jean-Frédéric Chibret, MBA, the company remains independent, family owned, and 100% ophthalmology focused. While honoring those company values, Jean-Frédéric stays focused on growth. Revenue has increased from €150 million in 2008 to €600 million in 2020. The majority of that—75%—has taken place outside France. Théa's next goal: commercialization in the United States.Listen to Jean-Frédéric's “fireside chat” with Emmetrope founder Joseph Sullivan to discover:● Théa's objectives for the next few years in both existing and new markets.● The progress Théa Open Innovation has made implementing licensing agreements and capital investments with early stage partners. The subsidiary has already signed agreements that help advance treatments for myopia, wet and dry age-related macular degeneration and macular edema.●  How Théa became a leader in Europe and how it plans to continue to use its business formula to tap into the U.S. market.

Hannah is a new friend of mine that I met working in the Young Company at the 2017 In Tune Conference with Touchstone Theatre. She is a UBC student and is a powerhouse actor in the BFA program there, where she has been very succesful. I can't wait for her to start really taking the Vancouver theatre scene by storm, and let me tell you, it is definitely going to happen! We started the session talking about her schooling, and the thing I found most fascinating was the idea of how overwhelming it can be to finally finish a long term goal. Hannah says in this episode that she had been working towards theatre school for almost a decade; and it's been such as defining aspect of her life that she doesn't really know who she is without it. I don't want to talk too much about the details, but but suffice to say that she has an amazing life story, and is a very inspiring individual. Please like and subscribe if you haven't already. You're all rockstars, thank you for your support! Love to you all!

Making her second appearance on Cue To Cue is Singer/Music teacher/Entrepreneur Pamela Demetriou! Pam and I were discussing the nature of the entertainment industry and the stigma that can exist when a performer decides to leaves performing for whatever reason. Whether that be to start a family, have more stability in their life, pursue other creatives endeavours, or sometimes you just need a break! It is a reality that happens and I immediately Wanted Pam to come on and share her story of why she decided to stop pursuing performing and the process she went through mentally and emotionally while transitioning into a new life and how she has been able to still engage her creativity and build a life by design and highlighting another path that is open to creatives who might be considering different option or additions to their creative lifestyle. In this Episode:   How to listen to your intuition and to know when it’s time to leave the business How to design your life What you need to be aware of as a “workaholic” while raising a family How deciphering what kind of parent you want to be when starting a family can help you find your creative career path The importance of having creative vision and striving towards the next project. A little about Pam:   Pamela is the proud owner and director of PS Studio’s Music Together, and has been teaching the program since 2014.  Before entering the teaching/mentoring world, Pamela was a professional Musical Theatre Performer, working with Stage West (Vagina Monologues), Drayton Entertainment (Anne of Green Gables, My Fair Lady) , Theatre Orangeville (A Christmas Carol), Moonpath Productions (Totally Scrooged), TIFT (Emily), ACT Productions (I Love You You're Perfect Now Change, Tick Tick Boom), Oh Canada Eh? So far she has directed five productions with the Young Company including: Seussical, Into The Woods, The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, and Mary Poppins.  Next summer Pamela will be directing their epic production of Les Miserables, and could NOT be more excited about it!   "I am passionate about connecting with people through music and I encourage my students to find and express themselves in their work.  At the end of the day, the best thing I can offer my students, both young and old, is the permission to communicate LOVE in every possible way. Thank you Chelsea Johnson for allowing me to share my story on Cue To Cue!”     Connect with Pam! Facebook: @psstudiosmusictogether Instagram: @musictogetherorangeville Website www.psstudio.ca

On today's episode, Apple Seed producer Victoria Hardy tags along with the Young Company, the children's theater group at BYU, as they present “The Glorious Story Emporium,” featuring completely improvised long-form ensemble stories. We'll have the Company in for a chat, too, and we'll even throw in a little improvisation from Ed Stivender as well, for good measure.

Stephen Ouimette, who plays Bejart in the current Broadway revival of "La Bête", talks about what it takes to hold the stage, with little dialogue, throughout the show's fabled 30 minute opening monologue -- especially after having played the voluble role of Valere himself almost 20 years ago in his native Canada. He also discusses his acting training at the University of Windsor; joining The Young Company at the Grand Theatre in London, Ontario immediately after graduation; his 17 (soon to be 18) seasons with Canada's famed Stratford Festival, where his roles have included Mozart in "Amadeus", Hamlet and Richard III; how he has kept himself fresh by alternating work at Stratford with work at many of Canada's major companies; his prior forays to the U.S., including plays at Chicago Shakespeare and a run at City Center in New York in 1998; how he feels about Stratford's "The Importance of Being Earnest", in which he played Rev. Chasuble, coming to New York without him; his rare forays into musicals, notably "Oliver!" in Edmonton and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" in Stratford; what it has been like to make his Broadway and West End debuts in a single year; his anticipation of appearing with Brian Dennehy in both "Twelfth Night" and "The Homecoming" in summer 2011 at Stratford; and the singular experience of playing Oliver Welles in the television series "Slings and Arrows", which afforded him the opportunity to work one last time with his early mentor, legendary Canadian actor William Hutt. Original air date - December 8, 2010.
