On Fridays I try catching up on paperwork that needs to be done personally and professionally. I also try to do some self care and clean up to get ready for the weekend. I have so many conflicting priorities and get overwhelmed/distracted so easily, so I love the 15 minute timer hack. It helps me get things done but also make time for myself. Who doesn't have a spare 15 minutes to get something important done (even if it means taking time to just relax and listen to music).Tags: productivity, self care, life hacks
I vow not to make this podcast one of the hustle business type shows that makes you feel like you need to constantly grind in order to make money. Instead, let's focus on creating through art, allowing yourself to read fiction, listen to music, read poetry, or whatever makes you feel like a human!Creativity is the foundation of business and money making. I've never found that hustle and grind type of podcasts make me feel more creative, but instead I experience the opposite effect.

Whether you're an entrepreneur or not, it's beneficial to utilize legal services proactively. A way that makes it more affordable is by using legal insurance.Valerie used it for her estate planning recently, and saved about $1k. She also doesn't think she would have done it without the insurance. We all sign contracts on a regular basis, and it's a good practice to have attorneys look over what you're signing (housing contracts, job offers, car purchases, etc.)Although this sounds a little like an ad, it's not sponsored. We recommend carefully understanding the plans' exclusions before you commit to signing up for the plans. Valerie's plan doesn't cover business related expenses.Links:MetLaw (Valerie's plan)Sheryl's LegalShield website
Whether you call it an MLM, pyramid scheme, or network marketing, everyone has opinions on this type of business. I am personally very hesitant to recommend this type of business model because the data shows that the vast majority of business owners make minimal money (if any at all). Lots of women want to work from home, and it's easy to get sucked into the promises of an easier lifestyle (at least as social media shows). Our guest today, Sheryl Scott has some experience with MLMs, and she has had some positive experience. Find a mentor, but don't listen to everyone Be intentional about dating. This will impact your future so much. It's a marathon, not a sprint. You'll be working for years, so don't burn out in your first few years as an employee.Ditch perfectionism. You're not "getting graded" anymore, so stop trying to get 100% scores.Be authentic - You don't have to act like a robot and be serious all of the time. In fact, if you listen to this show regularly, you know that having fun and using humor actually helps you at work. It helps your brain be more creative and makes for a better work culture altogether.Show Confidence - It's true you need to fake it until you make it, but you also have to show confidence while you do it. Be a participator - Go to events, participate in fund raisers, company team builders, take on new projects, etc.Keep a positive curious attitude. If you're someone with a million interest, that's great. It means that you're an interesting person. So go into each day trying to be as curious as possible. That attitude will help you no matter what role you're in. Really specific tip - Young Valerie, don't cash out your 401k! Start saving and investing now! It's just a job, it's not your identity.
