Was hätte man gerne früher gewusst und was hätte dem damaligen Ich geholfen? Vier unterschiedliche Personen, vier unterschiedliche Geschichten. Aber eins haben sie gemeinsam: Das erste Mal ist nicht so perfekt, wie alle immer sagen. Wie war Euer erstes Mal? In this episode of BackTable ENT, Dr. Mark Courey (chief of otolaryngology at Mount Sinai) and Sarah Schneider (Speech Language Pathologist at UCSF) join host Dr. Gopi Shah to discuss voice care for transgender patients. --- SHOW NOTES First, Mark and Sarah define terms relevant to transgender healthcare and offer tips on welcoming transgender patients to clinic. They describe how voice care fits into the overall process of transition, and why patients seek care for voice-related concerns at different points in their journey. Gopi asks about collaboration with other specialties, and Mark discusses collaboration with other clinicians in a patient-centered transgender care team. The conversation then shifts to workup and treatment of voice-related concerns. In Sarah's experience, trans women present with voice fatigue if they are overly reliant on pitch modulation. By addressing pitch, articulation, rate of speech, volume, and resonance, Sarah helps her patients achieve a more feminine communication style while minimizing physical strain. Mark outlines his physical exam and process of history-taking as they relate to voice concerns. They also address the role of laryngoscopy in transgender patient populations. Finally, Sarah and Mark address the importance of duration and goals of voice therapy. Both she and Mark emphasize the need to monitor progress over sessions of voice therapy. Delving into surgical management, Mark addresses the indications for, steps in, and complications of voice-modifying surgery. To wrap up, Sarah and Mark encourage listeners to educate their fellow clinicians regarding voice care for transgender patients. --- RESOURCES https://www.enttoday.org/article/gender-affirmation-surgery-in-california/ https://www.enttoday.org/article/analyzing-the-latest-gender-affirming-care-restrictions-in-state-laws/ Sarah's Twitter: https://twitter.com/scharx16 Sarah's UCSF Profile: https://transcare.ucsf.edu/team/sarah-schneider Mark's Mount Sinai Profile: https://profiles.mountsinai.org/mark-s-courey

The critically beloved sitcom “The Other Two” follows the trials of the older, struggling siblings of a 13-year-old overnight pop sensation. The series creators knew the first season got lost in the shuffle when it ran on Comedy Central. For season two, the show moved to HBO Max, and is a lot easier to find. Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider tell KCRW about the return of “The Other Two,” and how they decide which celebrities to skewer.

If you are a regular listener, you've likely heard the phrase “Charge what you're worth.” But how do you know what you're worth? How much work does it take to get to a point where you can charge what you want? Is it all it's cracked up to be? In this episode of Wingnut Social, Executive Coach Sarah Schneider breaks down how to figure out what “Charging what you're worth” actually means. Don't miss it! Connect with Sarah Schneider Sarah's Website Connect on LinkedIn Follow on Instagram Resources & People Mentioned The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown How to overcome the psychological struggle to charge what you're worth Sarah knows that designers struggle with comparison and self-criticism. They think they need more experience or that people won't pay their rates. She emphasizes that you have to take an honest look at your background, skillset, and the results that you provide people. Make it about what you deliver and the impact you have. If you're a high-end designer you'll charge differently than someone who declutters and organizes spaces. You also have to take into account what you need to make based on your overhead. People get lost in, “Who am I to charge that?” From a psychological and self-worth standpoint, how do you overcome this limiting belief? Sarah believes that you're never as new at something as you think you are. A designer has likely used their skillsets in other areas of their life, right? Now you're simply executing it differently. Sarah challenges people to always take a beginner's viewpoint and look at things with fresh eyes. But “new” at something doesn't mean inexperienced. Don't take your knowledge for granted. Focus on what you bring to the table Self-doubt is a dream and performance crusher. It's the beginning of the end of your goals. It's so easy to discount what you know because—let's be honest—it comes naturally. Sarah coaches people to take inventory of what they bring to the table. If you're your own worst critic, this can be easier to do with someone who knows you well (someone who champions you or a client that loves you). What have you done since you were a kid? What was your formal or informal education? What roles have you had throughout your life and career? What type of advice do people ask you for? Brainstorm this with someone and write it down—even if you think it's an obvious or trivial skill. When you're in a place of self-criticism, you can look back at the list and see what you bring to the table. It's easier to be kind to yourself when you have collected evidence in your favor. How do you determine what you're worth Sarah works with a lot of entrepreneurs. People are often coached to charge a certain amount if they want to appear credible. Sarah recommends that you find a middle ground somewhere between what you're comfortable with and what the “experts” say you should be charging. It needs to be an integration of a number that stretches you that you're willing to say out loud—without throwing up. When Darla started charging what she was worth (to make a profit, stay in business, and give clients the service she's renowned for), clients started knocking down the door. Darla has a waiting list and she's never been busier. Darla has found in some cases that doubling your hourly rate can make people pick up the phone. Why does that happen? When trying to decide who you are as a leader are you constantly tumbling through mental gymnastics or expending way too much energy sanitizing your personality in order to fit into some pre prescribed definition of what a leader should sound like? Can you be yourself and still be a badass inspiring leader? In this episode, I interview Sarah Schneider, an executive coach, leadership trainer, and CEO of the leadership coaching firm Sarah Schieder & Company. Sarah joins me today to help us understand the sense of freedom that comes with choosing your own version of leadership, having the impact you want with your leadership, and being your own damn self while you do it. Many people hesitate to call themselves an expert or a leader. What they don't realize is all the mental gymnastics are draining and completely unnecessary. Those things are compromising the energy you could be spending on things that will actually make you a great leader; this includes upskilling yourself, networking, and building healthy relationships. When you start calling yourself a leader, you begin to head closer to becoming one. Within our conversation Sarah discusses how vulnerability and intimacy are the keys to building healthy teams. We also discuss why being able to trust your team, especially now that we are working remotely is pivotal for business success. We need diversity in leadership. We need more people from all backgrounds to discover their leadership style. To find your leadership style: ● Define who you are as a leader. ● Trust yourself and your expertise. ● Give yourself the ability to see how things are going around you. ● Have a team of advisors to learn from- keep growing. ● Know that the world is better when we have different types of leaders. ● Determine what it would look like if you gave 10 percent more to your gaps. What does 10 percent more of your personality, honesty, focus look like? ● Bring your true self to leadership. The Cocktail of the Week is the Zoomtini cocktail from the Happy Hour at Home cocktail book that was gifted to me by my friend Candice. It is a low alcohol beverage that gets you through that last Zoom meeting of the day (or the first if you ask me) ready. Ingredients ● 1 oz sweet vermouth ● 1oz gin ● 4 oz seltzer ● 3 luxardo cherries Add ice, vermouth, gin, and bitters to a glass, fill with seltzer, and garnish with the cherries. (PS. While you are sipping on this, they suggest you tune into "Who's Zoomin Who" by Aretha Franklin.)

Why does he subdivide this discipline into multiple areas? 3. What quote from Donald Whitney impacted you the most? 4. Give an example of how you would have a different view of God if you never heard the Bible? What if you only heard someone read it to you? Only read for yourself and didn't study? Etc... 5. Why is it so important to continually receive Bible intake even if that intake isn't uplifting or immediately emotionally beneficial? 6. How would you respond to the notion that Bible study, memorization, and meditation is really just for the "spiritually mature" Christians? Is there a minimal level of maturity you must attain before starting this discipline? 7. What practical steps should students be taking to improve their Bible Intake discipline? What has been the most beneficial thing for you?

It’s sequel time! Sort of. On a Good One episode from way back in the year 2018, Jesse asked Vanessa Bayer about Saturday Night Live's series of ad parodies for Totino’s pizza rolls. What started as a take on gender stereotypes in advertising evolved over the next two years into a surreal X-Files promo, and ultimately a triumphant, French romance film trailer. Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider are the former SNL head writers behind the Totino’s Trilogy. Jesse talks to them about the evolution of Vanessa’s nameless character, and draws parallels to Chris and Sarah’s new series The Other Two. Highly recommended: watching the Totino’s Ad Trilogy.
