Here is an audio promo of our latest episode! Nancy Northcott joins us once again to discuss women on Batman. This time, we're focusing on the Egghead/Olga team-up episodes. Are they as full of sexism as we'd expected from a 1967 TV show? What do we make of the leggy babe technician at the Radium Center? Is crime fighting "better left to the men"? What's implied by Batgirl's "Sixth sense"? And other general observations about "The Ogg and I", "How to Hatch a Dinosaur," and "The Ogg Couple." Subscribe to our Patreon for $2 a month for bi-weekly examinations of Batman 66 on BAT BITS, or, for $4 a month, get that AND our monthly discussion of silver age Batman comics, as Paul or another in our stable of co-hosts joins Tim to examine individual Batman stories from the 1950s and '60s — most recently, Tim and Patrick discussed "The Vanished Batman" from BATMAN 101! Send us Fan MailIn S2E26, we kick things off with Slinky, Roxy's heavy-breathing ass, and Robby showing off his ridiculous Toy Story-themed nails. From there, we get into LEGO pop culture figs, Venomized characters, missing pieces, Batgirl parts that have to stay with Willow's collection, and somehow end up talking about whether riding on the back of a garbage truck would be fun for about a week. We also talk electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, sleep schedules, old mid-shift drinking habits, going live versus keeping the podcast audio-only, pipe screens, “tobacco,” Texas heat versus UK weather, AC in British houses, giant wasps doing Top Gun flybys, Top Gun: Maverick, fighter jets overhead, Misawa swapping F-16s for F-35s, and whether a job in Japan would be enough to make Robby quit “tobacco” and disappear across the world. Support the show

Fresh off one of the best episodes in the entire series, Cal and Liam return to review The New Batman Adventures episode "Love is a Croc." Killer Croc and Mary Louise Dahl aka "Babydoll" form the oddest of couples to wreak havoc on Gotham, but is the romance real or just something out of a Lifetime movie? The hosts talk about the choice to bring back the tragic Babydoll character, while stripping her of the dimension featured in her initial appearance. The hosts also talk about drastic changes visually and with the voice casting for Killer Croc, if this is the same character from the original Batman The Animated Series episodes. Additionally the hosts talk about the return of the Babydoll musical theme and why Batman and Batgirl feel like an afterthought for the entirety of the episode. Along with this, Brombal has recently taken over New Titans, delivering a much-needed fresh take on the beloved DC team. We chat about all this and more in our interview that you can listen to right now! For more info on all of Tate Brombal's books, check out our reviews and solicit texts for all his first issues mentioned above here: Fall of the House of Slaughter by Tate Brombal, James Tynion IV, Werther Dell'Edera, Adriano Turtulici, and Tom Napolitano. As the House of Slaughter's ailing Old Dragon enters his final days, Cecilia Slaughter and the other Heads gather to determine his successor. Deadly ambitions begin to take shape as the House and the Order prepare for a new legacy to begin — and the conflict will no doubt be lethal in this all-new miniseries set in the world of Something is Killing the Children! Can the House of Slaughter survive a new Dragon coming into power?  New Titans by Tate Brombal, Sami Basri, Adriano Lucas, and Tom Napolitano. WHO ARE THE NEW TITANS? After helping save the world from yet another world-ending event, the Titans have earned some much-deserved rest. Back in Titans Tower, they're glad to be reunited again... But it almost feels too good to be true. Are these Titans who they claim to be? And if they can't trust each other... can they even trust themselves? Tate Brombal and Sami Basri kick off a brand-new era for the next generation of superheroes! Everything Dead & Dying by Tate Brombal, Jacob Phillips, Pip Martin, and Aditya Bidikar. Everything Dead & Dying follows Jack Chandler, the sole survivor of the zombie apocalypse hunkered down in his rural farming community. But rather than eliminate them, Jack has chosen to continue living alongside the undead — including the husband and adopted daughter he fought so hard to have. But when his town is discovered by outsiders, Jack suddenly becomes the one thing standing in the way of those who hope to kill his family for good. Batgirl by Tate Brombal, Takeshi Miyazawa, Mike Spicer, and Tom Napolitano. Hold on to your seats, clutch your pearls, and rejoice in celebration because Cassandra Cain is taking center stage in her first solo Batgirl series in nearly two decades! When a deadly group of assassins shows up to kill Cassandra, Lady Shiva comes to the rescue, and they must put their complicated past aside and work together as mother and daughter to ensure they make it out alive. Unfortunately, things are never as easy as they seem, and Cass must embark on a jaw-dropping, martial-arts filled adventure in her quest for truth and justice... and revenge?! It's a Batgirl book like never before, so join us as we dive into the psyche of one of Gotham's deadliest fighters, while exploring her deep and complex relationship with her mother. Green Lantern Dark by Tate Brombal, Werther Dell'Edera, Giovanna Niro, and Tom Napolitano. On a post-apocalyptic Earth overrun by monsters, the battle between good and evil ended long ago — and evil won. Now darkness prevails as humanity struggles to survive in the corrupted wasteland that remains. Only one hero is said to haunt what's left of our shadowed cities, the one who wields the mystical green flame that could return light to a dark world--The Green Lantern. But she's been missing for years, and on the isolated island of New England, Solomon Grundy's undead army only grows larger and more powerful every night... Celebrated horror artist of smash hit Something is Killing the Children Werther Dell'Edera teams with rising-star writer Tate Brombal (House of Slaughter) to bring you a chilling tale of desperation, hope, and resurrection from the bitter remains of the fan-favorite Tangent Universe!

Jace of The Comic Source is joined by Rocky from Comic Boom! for this week's DC Spotlight as they break down a lighter but still varied week of DC releases. Batman/Superman: World's Finest #50 gets discussed for its Dr. Destiny dream story, Superman's dream Supermobile, and a backup featuring Robin, Supergirl, Batgirl and Jimmy Olsen in a rivalry-fueled mystery. Batman/Static Beyond #5 continues to build around older Static mentoring a younger Batman Beyond while Failsafe and the larger Q-energy conflict move the story forward. Adventures of Superman: Book of El #7 delivers another dense chapter in the House of El saga with Otho-Ra, the future descendants of Superman and the larger science fiction mythology continuing to expand. Batman #8 is a slower setup issue centered on Bruce Wayne's conversation with Alan Scott, the threat of Vandal Savage, and Gotham's mayor Poison Ivy turning the city against Batman and Robin. Absolute Superman #18 stands out with Lois Lane confronting Talia al Ghul over her father's death, Ra's al Ghul showing the effect Superman has had on him, and the issue introducing Absolute versions of John Henry Irons and King Shazam while also hinting at the Phantom Stranger. Poison Ivy #43 continues G. Willow Wilson's character-driven run with Pamela Isley using her position as mayor to go after Gotham's corruption, while also advancing the fallout with Harley Quinn, Janet from HR and the consequences of Bob Venus. Bizarro: Year None #1 offers a different take on Bizarro through a Jimmy Olsen and Perry White focused story that sends them to Bizarro World, with the Daily Planet itself playing into that world's creation. JSA #18 wraps up the Year One material while also including more of the Search for the Spectre backup and its focus on the newer generation of Justice Society characters. Mad About DC #1 serves as a full Mad Magazine-style send-up of DC characters, creators and fandom with multiple standout gags and a tone both hosts found genuinely funny. Batgirl #18 leans deeper into the Spirit World mythology, Cassandra Cain's growing connection to the Wu clan, and the question of whether Lady Shiva is capable of redemption. The episode also includes a rundown of the week's collected editions along with rankings for the books discussed and selections for Book of the Week.

Our hosts return to the Podcave and hit the town for a proper "Girls Night Out”Alex and Will discuss what should've been a fun, character-driven episode, is instead a generic comic book plot, feeling closer to a Saturday morning kids cartoon than the layered storytelling they've come to expect. The boys cook up their own absurd explanation for Batman's absence (it involves hummus… somehow), discuss Batgirl riding Supergirl (no, not in that way!), and spiral into a tangent about “ribbing” that only sort of makes sense.Meanwhile, Will takes a detour of his own to explain why Sydney Sweeney just doesn't do it for him—because no episode is complete without at least one wildly off-topic opinion.Tip Jar: https://buymeacoffee.com/batmantaspod ThreadHeads 20% Off: https://www.threadheads.com/BATMANTASPOD87466Buy Our Merch: https://www.bleakworld.store/category/btas-podcast-collaborationOutbreaks Issue 4 Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/speechcomics/outbreaks-1-4-an-ongoing-zombie-anthology-seriesMobster Mash 1-2 Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/speechcomics/mobster-mash-1-2-classic-movie-monsters-as-mobsters Join Our Discord - https://discord.com/invite/bQF76V3nUs TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@batmantaspod?_t=8zn1yhsgnfz&_r=1 Follow us on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@batmantaspod Follow the Pod on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/batmantaspod/ Follow the Pod on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/BatmanTASPod Follow the Pod on Twitter - https://twitter.com/batmantaspod1 Subscribe to Will's Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/willrobson Speech Comics Website - https://www.speechcomics.com/ Will's WhatNot Page - https://www.whatnot.com/user/speechcomics

I know there are a lot of superheroes who are orphans and would do anything to have their parents back. Maybe they should talk to Cassandra Cain. That particular Batgirl has a much more trying set of parental relationships. We've read a bunch of stories about her and her dad, the mast assassin David Cain. And while we have read only a couple stories about it, the more interesting relationship is between Cass and her mother, one of the DC Universe's greatest martial artists, Lady Shiva. Abigale Heartbalm joins us to talk about three stories featuring Cass and Shiva. The first is their battle to the death, the second involves some Freaky Friday stuff (although not a mother/daughter swap, which I now want to see) and the first arc of Cassandra's current ongoing series, where things between them reach a much more final conclusion. I am Become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds (Batgirl V.1 #25) Vice Versa (Batgirls Annual 2022, #13) Mother (Batgirl V.6 #1-6) Check out our current ranking list at www.comicsxf.com/batchat-rankings/ Thanks to Geri Nonnewitz for our podcast logo Support the show on Patreon at www.patreon.com/batchatwithmattandwill

It's been over a year, but we're finally returning to The Super Dictionary, that bizarre book from the 70s that taught vocabulary to the children using DC Comics superheroes. This time we're learning (sort of) about words starting with H, I, and J. But because this book is so weird, we're really learning that Batgirl is fascinated by geese, whales love Wonder Woman's shoes, Atom rides hummingbirds, Supergirl irons her cape, Catwoman's house is filthy, and Comet the Super Horse hates chickens. Yikes, we've learned so much, and we're not even halfway through The Super Dictionary. But we're trying to pace ourselves, lest our heads explode with too much very important information. (Is Aquaman secretly a kangaroo? We'll find out soon, when we get to the K section.) The Flopcast website! The ESO Network! The Flopcast on Facebook! The Flopcast on Instagram! Paul Dano is officially weighing in on Quentin Tarantino's recent comments, and the conversation has sparked a bigger discussion about actors, auteurs, and how modern Hollywood views performances. On today's episode of The Kristian Harloff Show, we break down what Dano had to say and why his response is getting so much attention. We also dig into new details revealing that Wonder Man was nearly Marvel's version of Batgirl, how close the project came to being shelved, and what that says about Marvel's shifting strategy. Plus, huge news for fantasy fans as Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere scores a rare Apple TV deal, with Mistborn being eyed for movies and The Stormlight Archive for television. On top of that, we react to the first look at Henry Cavill in the upcoming Highlander reboot and discuss Netflix officially moving forward with a live-action Gundam project. It's a packed episode full of industry talk, fandom hype, and big franchise moves. What do you think about Tarantino's comments and Dano's response? Let us know in the comments and join the conversation.
