(11:00) ON SUNDAY MAY 25 @ 9:30 & 11:00 Our Student Minister, Beth Anderson, concludes the "I Have a Question" series with a message on how to deal with guilt. Guilt can either crush us or lead us closer to Jesus-it all depends on what we do with it. The Bible is full of people who wrestled with guilt, and their stories show us the difference between being destroyed by it and being restored through it. Judas gave up in his guilt, but Peter ran to grace. David brought his sorrow to God and found healing. Guilt doesn't have to be the end of the story-because with God, it can be a gateway to grace.

I was so fortunate to meet Beth Anderson through the Rocky Mountain chapter of SCBWI years ago and today I get to share her with all of you!! Beth is such an encouraging, helpful, and kind presence in the kidlit world. Her blog is a wonderful resource and her books will lead you down all the rabbit holes of history you never knew you needed to explore. Some Highlights
Please welcome to today's episode author Diana I. Kline, Ph.D. Diana has taught in higher education for over thirty years in a variety of subjects including computer science, psychology, math, and education. While teaching computer science courses, she always reminded her students to recycle old computer equipment; otherwise, those items could remain on this Earth much too long! I met Diana through the OH Central South SCBWI chapter and was immediately intrigued by her book, A SOLAR SYSTEM CHAT illustrated by Susan and Chris Cornetet which has the earth speak directly to other planets including what is going on with her environment and other problems that need to be solved. It was fascinating to hear about her writing experience and knowledge about the Earth and conservation that inspired her to write this book. Please enjoy! Some Highlights: Writing a book alongside a full-time career. Finding story inspiration in the things we're passionate about. The difference one field trip can make. How much debris is in space? How many references is too many references? How encouraging others to write their stories can inspire you to write your own. Links Mentioned

Happy new year and new decade! New year, new me? Nope! we’re still bringing you true crime. This week Dani is telling the story of the bathtub girls. Sandra and Beth Anderson were teenage sisters tired of living with their alcoholic mom. The girls researched and planned her murder for months, and even got away with it for a year. Carly covers the survivor Melissa Dohme. After getting out of an abusive relationship, Melissa had moved on and was living a normal life. This was until her ex-boyfriend called her and begged her to meet up one last time for “closure”. You can guess he had ulterior motives, and she was stabbed over 30 times. Luckily there were several people who were instrumental in her survival, and this case has a happy ending! Please listen to hear all the details! If you’re in an abusive situation, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or visit www.thehotline.org for more resources. If you have any personal slay or survive (SOS) stories please send them to slayorsurvive@gmail.com. We'd love to read them on a future episode. Follow us on social media - IG, Twitter, Facebook - @SlayorSurvive. Please also subscribe, rate, and review us!

Recently — and by chance — we purchased two american compilations on vinyl, one entitled ‘10+2: 12 American Text Sound Pieces’ (1975) and the other ‘New Music for Electronic and Recorded Media: Women In Electronic Music’ (1977). While the first record is focused on american sound poetry, the second one is a careful introduction to the heroines of mid Seventies electronic music milieu. After this coincidental buy we discovered that both records were published by 1750 Arch Records, an American avant-garde music label, founded in the sixties in the homonymous recording / archival studio located at 1750 Arch Street, Berkeley, California. The episode features: Aram Saroyan, Laurie Spiegel, Beth Anderson, Ruth Anderson, John Giorno, Megan Roberts, Clark Coolidge, Pauline Oliveros, John Cage, Johanna M. Beyer, Anthony Gnazzo, Laurie Anderson, Charles Dodge, Annea Lockwood and Charles Amirkhanian.

It's Lilly's turn to tell a story this episode, and she has brought one doozy of a tale! It's the story of Sandra and Beth Anderson, better known as The Bathtub Girls, two sisters who killed their mother in a specific location which you may or may not be able to guess! Plus, Krista spins a yarn about a man who tied some things to a chair--spoiler alert in the title!
