Five Common Challenges First Responder Parents Face: 1. Irregular Schedules: Example: Missing school events, bedtime routines, or family dinners due to shift work. Impact: Creates feelings of guilt and disconnect between parents and children. 2. Emotional Exhaustion: Example: Coming home physically and mentally drained after a stressful shift. Impact: Makes it harder to be present and engaged with family. 3. Lack of Predictable Routines: Example: Inconsistent availability for activities like homework help or weekend outings. Impact: Leads to frustration for both parents and children. 4. Exposure to Job-Related Trauma: Example: Struggling to shield children from emotional stress while processing traumatic experiences. Impact: Can create tension or a sense of emotional distance in the household. 5. Limited Quality Time: Example: Spending more time at work than at home, leading to missed opportunities for connection. Impact: Causes kids to feel neglected or disconnected from their parent. Five Ways to Remedy These Challenges: 1. Prioritize One-on-One Time: Solution: Schedule dedicated time with each child, even if it's brief, like a weekly breakfast date or a bedtime chat. Why It's Beneficial: Makes your child feel valued and helps build stronger emotional connections. 2. Create Predictable Traditions: Solution: Establish small, consistent rituals, such as a family movie night or making pancakes on your day off. Why It's Beneficial: Provides stability and something for your kids to look forward to, even with a hectic schedule. 3. Communicate Openly About Your Job: Solution: Share age-appropriate insights about your work and why it's important, without overwhelming your kids. Why It's Beneficial: Helps them understand your absence and builds respect for what you do. 4. Involve Your Family in Stress Relief Activities: Solution: Engage in activities like family walks, board games, or cooking together to decompress and bond. Why It's Beneficial: Combines self-care with family time, strengthening relationships while reducing stress. 5. Use Technology to Stay Connected: Solution: Send quick text messages, share funny memes, or video chat during breaks to maintain contact when you're away. Why It's Beneficial: Keeps you involved in your kids' daily lives, even when you can't be physically present. The Importance of Maintaining Balance: Learn why finding harmony between duty and family life is essential for your well-being and your children's development. How to Build a Resilient Family Dynamic: Discover how open communication, consistency, and quality time can foster a supportive and loving household, even with the demands of a first responder career. Why This Matters: Parenting as a first responder comes with unique challenges, but with intentional effort, you can create meaningful relationships with your children and build a strong, connected family. This Podcast Is Episode 602, And It's About The Financial Roadmap To Success: Goal-Setting For Contractors Setting financial goals for your construction business may be one of your most important responsibilities as a leader and business owner. Your financial goals serve as far more than wishful projections; they form the backbone of your road map for success, both internal and external. Financial goals are something that every single business should possess regardless of its market, model, or size. Let's explore how to set and track financial goals that empower your business to thrive. Why Financial Goals Matter for Your Construction Business Financial goals are more than just numbers on a spreadsheet. They are the roadmap that helps you plan and make strategic decisions. Without clear goals, it's like driving without a destination in mind. Think about it—how do you know if you've arrived if you never set out where you wanted to go? First, financial goals offer clarity. They transform your vision into actionable targets. When you know precisely what you want to achieve, laying out the necessary steps becomes more accessible. It's akin to plotting the course on a GPS; you need a specific endpoint to calculate the best route. Second, financial goals motivate you and your team. A shared goal brings people together, fostering collaboration and boosting morale. Your business benefits from the focus and drive of working towards a common objective. Lastly, financial goals prepare you for the unexpected. By regularly tracking your finances, you can identify trends and anticipate potential pitfalls before they become crises. The Benefits of Financial Goal-Setting Setting financial goals is a powerful tool for business owners, offering many benefits. Not only do they provide direction, but they also enable you to measure success and maintain focus. Clarity and focus Financial goals bring clarity and focus to your business operations. With well-defined objectives, you can concentrate on activities aligning with your overarching strategy. This clarity makes decision-making more straightforward and more efficient, reducing the clutter of distractions. Motivation and accountability Goals serve as a source of motivation and accountability. Having clear targets keeps you and your team motivated to achieve them. It also creates a sense of responsibility, as everyone understands their role in reaching the collective goals.  Risk Management Financial goals help identify and manage risks. By setting tangible targets, you are better prepared to anticipate potential challenges. This foresight allows you to develop contingency plans and make informed decisions, reducing the impact of unforeseen events. It's the business equivalent of having a backup generator ready to kick in during a power outage. Getting Started with Financial Goals Setting financial goals may seem daunting, but it's easier than you think. Start by assessing your current financial situation. Understanding where your business stands financially is the first step to setting realistic and achievable goals. Assess your current financial situation. Before setting goals, examine your financial records thoroughly. Look at your income, expenses, cash flow, and debts. This comprehensive overview will give you a clear picture of your financial health and highlight areas for improvement. Define clear and specific objectives. Once you grasp your current situation, it's time to define your financial goals. Ensure they are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). Instead of setting a vague goal like "increase profits," aim for something concrete, such as "grow net profit by 20% over the next 12 months." Align goals with your business strategy. Your financial goals should align with your overall business strategy. Consider your construction company's mission, values, and long-term vision. Ensure that your financial objectives support and contribute to these larger goals. For instance, if expanding to another location is part of your strategy, set financial targets that reflect this growth ambition. Breaking Down Goals Into Achievable Milestones Significant financial goals can feel overwhelming, but breaking them into smaller, manageable milestones makes them more attainable. Create incremental milestones. Divide your larger financial goals into incremental milestones. For example, if you aim to increase annual revenue by $100,000, set quarterly targets of $25,000. These milestones act as stepping stones, providing a clear path toward achieving your ultimate goal. Assign responsibilities and set deadlines. Assign specific responsibilities to team members or departments and establish milestones' deadlines. This delegation ensures accountability and encourages collaboration. When everyone knows their role and timeline, the team can work cohesively toward the shared objective. Celebrate small wins. Celebrate each milestone's achievement. Acknowledging small wins boosts morale and motivation, reinforcing the progress made. It's like celebrating each mile during a marathon—it keeps spirits high and momentum going strong. Tracking and Measuring Progress Setting financial goals is only half the equation; tracking and measuring progress is equally crucial. Implement a tracking system. Establish a system to track and measure your progress regularly. This could be through financial software, spreadsheets, or other real-time data tools. Regular monitoring allows you to identify trends, adjust, and stay on track. Review and adjust goals periodically. Financial goals are not static; they should be reviewed and adjusted periodically. Changes in the market, industry, or internal factors may necessitate modifications to your goals. Conduct regular reviews to ensure your goals remain relevant and aligned with your business strategy. Use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Incorporate KPIs to measure your progress. KPIs are quantifiable metrics that reflect your success in achieving specific objectives. They provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of your strategies and guide decision-making. Use Technology to Help You Reach Your Goals Technology can play a pivotal role in managing financial goals effectively. Explore financial management software. Consider using financial management software to streamline goal setting, tracking, and analysis. These tools offer budgeting, forecasting, and reporting features, enabling you to make data-driven decisions. Automate processes for efficiency. Leverage automation to enhance efficiency in financial goal management. Automation can handle invoicing, expense tracking, and financial reporting, freeing strategic planning and decision-making time. Gain insights through data analytics. Use data analytics to gain valuable insights into your financial performance. Check trends, identify opportunities, and uncover potential risks. Data-driven insights empower you to make informed decisions and fine-tune your financial strategies. Final thoughts Setting and tracking financial goals is essential for small business success. They provide clarity, motivation, and risk management, guiding your construction business toward growth and sustainability. By assessing your current financial situation, defining clear objectives, and breaking them down into achievable milestones, you can pave the way to success. Remember to track and measure progress regularly, leveraging technology for efficiency and insights. Their system can set you up to attract, grow, engage, and close more Investors faster and more efficiently than you can do on your own. They offer DIY or full concierge options that can help you capture, follow up with investor leads, and create content in no time. Unlike most investor management platforms that offer customer relationship managers (CRMs) as an afterthought, this is a true CRM system built specifically for real estate syndicators. Listen and learn how you can put it to work for you. Overview of Go Raise AI (00:01:17)Johannes Cramlet introduces himself and provides an overview of Go Raise AI. He explains that it is a CRM and marketing platform designed specifically for capital raisers and investor relations professionals in the real estate syndication and fund management space. The platform includes tools for managing contacts, automating follow-ups, creating email campaigns, hosting webinars, and building credibility with potential investors. Cramlet shares that through Go Raise AI, they have helped raise just under $100 million in capital over the past 48 months. Importance of Developing Relationships (00:07:01)Taylor and Cramlet discuss the importance of developing relationships with potential investors, as required by SEC regulations for certain types of securities offerings. They emphasize the need to document these relationships, have suitability conversations, and understand the investors' goals and interests before making offers. Cramlet highlights how Go Raise AI's CRM and automation features can assist with this process while saving time and effort. Differentiating Go Raise AI from Other Platforms (00:44:10)Taylor and Cramlet clarify the differences between Go Raise AI and other platforms like investor management software and crowdfunding platforms. Go Raise AI is focused on building relationships and marketing before deals are available, while investor management software is used to manage investors and deals once they are in place. Crowdfunding platforms, on the other hand, market deals to their own databases of investors for a fee, but may not be suitable for those without a substantial track record. Using AI and Automation (00:30:08)Cramlet discusses how Go Raise AI leverages AI and automation to streamline various tasks, such as generating email subject lines, creating content, and automating follow-ups. He emphasizes the importance of using technology to save time on administrative tasks, allowing capital raisers to focus on building personal connections and having meaningful conversations with potential investors. Audience Questions and Resources (00:42:11)Towards the end of the video, Taylor and Cramlet address questions from the audience, including inquiries about the types of investors using Go Raise AI, integrating broker relationships, and leveraging AI for content creation. They also provide information on how to access Taylor's books on raising capital legally and schedule consultations with their respective teams.

Welcome to another episode of the Hustle and Flowchart podcast! I'm Joe Fier, your host, and today, we're diving into the world of networking and personal growth based on Joe Polish's book, "What's In It For Them." I'm excited to share insights on how to improve your interactions with others and elevate your business strategies by leveraging the latest tools and books. Let's jump right in! Building Stronger Connections This episode explores improving your networking skills based on Joe Polish's book, "What's In It For Them." Joe Polish is a well-known figure in the business world, running high-level masterminds and helping elite business owners and marketers. His book outlines nine genius networking principles to help you open doors in your personal and professional life. Useful Links: What's In It For Them Be Useful, Grateful, and Valuable The first key takeaway is the importance of being useful, grateful, and valuable to people around you. Imagine how you can help others and show appreciation. This mindset shift can change how you approach situations and build stronger relationships. Joe Polish emphasizes the need to be there for others and provide actual value. Quick story: Mike Koenigs and I recently led a workshop at Joe Polish's Genius Network headquarters. We showed business owners how to use AI to scale their productivity. It was an incredible experience that highlighted the importance of being useful and providing value in real-time. Action Step: Time-block daily to send personalized messages to people in your world. Use tools like Loom to make your communications more engaging and genuine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91sPkvexGkg Be Fun, Memorable, and Yourself The second principle is to be fun, memorable, and true to yourself. Avoid being too formal or trying to fit into someone else's expectations. Authenticity builds stronger connections and makes you more memorable. Asking genuine questions and sharing personal stories can help you connect on a deeper level. Don't hesitate to inject humor and be open about your own experiences, even if they aren't perfect. This builds rapport and makes interactions more enjoyable. Action Step: Ask genuine questions and share personal stories in your conversations. Be yourself, and don't put on a mask to impress others. Give Value On the Spot The final principle is to give value on the spot. Joe Polish talks about the importance of doing things quickly and not waiting to follow up later. Using David Allen's two-minute rule from the "Getting Things Done" method can help you implement this principle. If you can complete a task in under two minutes, do it immediately. This could be sending a quick message, connecting people, or providing immediate feedback. This approach builds trust and shows that you value the other person's time. Action Step: Apply the two-minute rule in your daily interactions. If you can help someone or complete a task quickly, do it right away. Conclusion In this episode we explored how to build stronger connections with Joe Polish's networking principles. By being useful, grateful, and valuable, being yourself, and giving value on the spot, you can create lasting relationships and elevate your business success. Thank you for tuning in! And I think it's really important that we celebrate all types of wins, because it allows us to just really feel like there is positivity even amongst all the crap. So I want you to know also amongst these wins, or not sharing is all the things that didn't go well, because you know what, that's so easy. And negativity breeds negativity. So kicking off your Friday, kicking off your weekend, with some positivity is always the goal here. So we start off with a couple wins of yours, then a win of mine, and then a little fun mantra. Lesley Logan 1:39  So first up, we have Tania Tsiora. She's an Agency member, by the way, she got a new booking scheduling system and linked it to the website so people stay on her website and book through it. Already my seventh newsletter is going out on Monday. The sixth is about different types of breakfasts. So way to go, Tanya, I fucking love this. I love that we are celebrating a booking system, holy moly, those takes so long to put into place and get people to do it. And that means they're going to your website. So they're seeing all the things you offer. It makes it easy for them to remember to share you and you get your seventh newsletter going out. And you're you're finding unique ways to write about things. I love that your sixth one was about breakfast. Because you know what, we can't just always email people like, hey, schedule your next session. So good for you. That's a win. Lesley Logan 2:24  All right, Christine Eschen, she's an eLevate grad and a Agency member. And she said, I'm popping in here late for a win. My best friend's husband died quickly and unexpectedly. No, I know, that's not a win. But it felt so good to just drop everything and climb in the car to drive three hours and just be here for her. She lives on 40 acres and has her 92-year-old mother here and she broke her leg. So all of this is sad. But I feel glad just to be here for her and talk and cry. And also when to bring my husband along to help out and do some things for her that guys do --put in the sprinkler heads, weed whacking and all that stuff. So sometimes a win is just loving and helping out your BFF when she needs it. Grateful for her and all of you. Christine, I really do appreciate how you are seeing what you are able to do for your friend as a win. No, it's never a win when we lose someone we love. But the fact that you have created a life for yourself where you and your husband can actually go and be there for someone when they need it, that is huge. Sometimes they wonder why are we working so hard. Why do we do this? Why don't we do this for ourselves? We could just go work for someone else. But if you, if you work for someone else, Christine, full time, I don't know that you could have been there for her. You know. So I love that you could do that. And it's really beautiful. And thank you for sharing that with all of us. Lesley Logan 3:37  All right, one more. This is Jennifer Lapina. She is eLevate member and she wrote, "Overwhelmed but winning indeed. I'm seeing the bodies performing better and choosing exercises accordingly and while even explaining the why. Compliments are so encouraging, clients appreciate my attention to detail and expressed awareness and changes to their posture, reduce pain and better mobility, picked up a few new privates and seeing more followers in my classes. My name is popping up amongst acquaintances as a solid Pilates instructor and I'm getting feedback from managers and co-workers I love being talked about in a positive way. I wrestled my six four super strong son in the senior wrestling pit on his last day of school and took him down. He may have let me win but I enjoyed being the cool mom amongst his friends." Jennifer, this is so fun. I love that he even let you win but you'll never know. And I also love that you have been allowing yourself to evolve as a teacher. And you can tell that you are because while it is overwhelming to change and to integrate new ways of teaching, but the fact that people are really able to hear the good words that you're giving them and then also listen to the detailed things you want them to do is a testament to you. You know you're not overwhelming them with too much information. So way to go. Lesley Logan 4:47  All right, loves a win of mine. Summer Camp was a blast. Hugely awesome. So great. We did it last week and it was just, was the biggest thing Brad and I have ever done virtually, that our team has done, and I'm so grateful for the team that we have, if they're listening, hi, guys, thank you. You know, we couldn't have done it without them, there's a lot of things to organize. And it's interesting, you know, I'm gonna celebrate this, like, yes, we could do things more in person. And that would be amazing. And trust me, I've done big events, I've been part of planning big events that are in person, we still do big events that are in person. But it is important to me that there are some ways to make things accessible for others. And virtual allows people to join in from all over the world without investing in time and money to fly some place, hotels, food, some of these in-person events might only be a couple $100 to attend, the ticket, but thousands of dollars when you do it. And it's not easy, especially if you've got kids and things like that. So I really am grateful for my team for helping me put this together. So we could have something that anyone can join from around the world, we have teachers from all over the world. And I'm so, so grateful for the amount of people that attended like that is a huge win, because they could have done anything since it was virtual. So it was it was amazing. We had 14 events over two days, Brad and I wore out our blue blockers. It was all hands on deck. And it was just an absolute blast. So that if you attended, thank you so much for being part of this win. I'm so so grateful. I think it's easy for us to focus on a win also having to be all the details like how many people attended, did we hit those goals, did we hit this goal? And the truth is, is that I don't think I will ever hit an attendance goal of an event that doesn't have a capacity at it. Right? Like my retreats have sold out. My eLevates have sold out. Minis have sold out but like something like this, there's actually not a limit to how many people can attend. And so when you have those it's easy to you'll set a goal. And then if you don't hit it, you're like I didn't want anything here. And Brad and I did have a goal. No, we did not hit that goal. But that doesn't mean it's a failure. The win is that how much we worked together, how much the team worked together, how focused we were as a team. Could we have hit the goals that we wanted to had everything lined up? Absolutely. And I'm so proud of that. So I just want to share that with you. Because I think we, especially with a win like this where I'm like this happened, it's easy to go oh my god, she's slaying. Yes, we're all slaying, but not, not every single tiny goal amongst the things was hit. But that doesn't mean it wasn't a win that it happened and that we workde so hard together. And I'm so, so, so grateful. So stay tuned for more information on that. Lesley Logan 7:28  Okay. Your mantra for the weekend is there's growth in stillness. There is growth in stillness. There is growth in stillness. My loves, repeat that to yourself. Because sometimes we think we'd be doing a ton of things all the time. You don't have to. There's growth in stillness. Please send your wins and so we can share them on the next FYF. Make sure you listen to our interviews and recaps and share them with a friend. That is how this podcast grows. We could not do it without you. And until next time, Be It Till You See It. Lesley Logan 8:06  That's all I got for this episode of the Be It Till You See It Podcast. Whenever we go anywhere with out cell phones, we are leaving a digital footprint in our wake. A lot of times, it's that digitial footprint that leads authorities to eventually make arrests and get convictions at trial. In the case of Bryan Kohberger, the scenario is no different. With little to go on as far as eye witness testimony, it's going to come down to technology if the prosecution wants to secure a conviction. In this episode, we take a look at some of that technology and how it might be used to achieve the prosecutions desired results and what pitfalls might emerge along the way.(commercial at 7:36)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Technology Could Place Kohberger at Scene of Idaho Murders: Ex-FBI Agent (newsweek.com)

We all look forward to those precious days away with our families, but let's be honest…the planning AND the details can be overwhelming. If you're anything like me, you want your vacation to be a true break – you do NOT want to take a vacation from your vacation! So today, I'm sharing 5 of my favorite ways to plan a vacation without spreading yourself too thin. Come back and join me for Episode 47 and find out some easy ways to make this happen! 1. Start with a Plan, But Keep it FlexibleThe first tip is all about balance. Start with a plan but keep it flexible. This might sound contradictory, but hear me out. You want to have a general itinerary—know your travel dates, major activities, and accommodations. 2. Pack Smarter not HarderPacking can be one of the most stressful parts of preparing for a trip, especially if you're traveling with kids or grandkids. My second tip is to create a capsule wardrobe for your trip. Choose a few versatile pieces that you can mix and match to create multiple outfits. Stick to a color scheme to make it easier. 3. Delegate ResponsibilitiesTip number three is to delegate responsibilities. You don't have to do it all yourself. Get your family involved in the planning and packing process. Older children can pack their own bags with a checklist you provide. 4. Use Technology to Your AdvantageMy fourth tip is to use technology to your advantage. There are countless apps and websites designed to make travel easier. Use flight and hotel booking apps that offer real-time updates and alerts. 5. Plan for DowntimeFinally, my fifth tip is to plan for downtime. It's tempting to fill every moment with activities, but remember, a vacation is also about relaxation. Schedule some free time each day to just lounge by the pool, read a book, or take a nap. This is especially important if you're traveling with children, as they often need some quiet time to recharge. There you have it, my top five tips for planning a stress-free summer vacation! Thank you for tuning in AND don't forget our motto here on the pod and it's this:  If you're not having a fantastic day YOU have the power to make it one!NEW HERE?  DO THESE 2 THINGS FIRST!1.  Check out the Videos mentioned in Today's episode:a.  Time Management Secrets: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdguFjdYMwqWxPZL2zYJh-dGW6jt4GsQxb.  Healthy Boundaries Secrets: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdguFjdYMwqXaDt_bakaS7NYZylcTTL5Zc.   Work/Life Balance on Vacation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGd2qJ7vc0wd.  Passion & Purpose Secrets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1m26YG12L8&list=PLdguFjdYMwqXQM8PrQlBP-AxrPX-bV2q82.  Get your copy of The Career Woman's Secret Playbook!  https://www.amazon.com/Career-Womans-Secret-PlaybookGRAB YOUR FREEBIES!https://www.drdawnshoptalk.comCONTACT ME:drdawn@drdawnshoptalk.comBOOK YOUR FREE CONSULTATION:    https://calendly.com/drdawnshoptalk/15-minute-customized-coaching-call?month=2023-09

In today's digital age, managing teenagers' screen time is a pressing concern for parents and educators. With the constant lure of social media, gaming, and endless entertainment, teens are more connected—and distracted—than ever. If you've wondered how to help your teenager find a healthy balance with their phone usage, you're not alone. Join us on a transformative journey with the podcast "Teens and Screen Time: Finding Balance," hosted by the renowned pediatrician Dr. Gaurav Nigam. Meet Dr. Gaurav Nigam Dr. Gaurav Nigam is a celebrated expert in child health and development, widely respected for his practical advice on modern parenting challenges. As the host of the podcast by Dr Dad, Dr. Nigam combines his medical expertise with a deep understanding of the psychological and emotional dynamics that impact today's youth. A central theme of the podcast is understanding why teenagers get hooked on their screens. The answer lies in the brain's reward system and a neurotransmitter called dopamine. Every time your teenager receives a notification, likes a post, or levels up in a game, their brain releases dopamine. This chemical creates pleasure and reinforces the behavior, encouraging repetition. Dr. Nigam delves deep into the science of dopamine hits and how these interactions can lead to addictive behaviors. He explains that while dopamine is essential for learning and motivation, constant screen stimulation can lead to an imbalance, making it difficult for teens to find satisfaction in offline activities. Excessive screen time can have numerous negative effects on teenagers, including: - Sleep Disruption: - Mental Health Issues: - Decreased Academic Performance: - Physical Health Concerns: Strategies for Limiting Screen Time 1. Set Clear Boundaries and Expectations Establish clear rules around phone use. Dr. Nigam suggests creating a family media plan outlining when and where phones can be used, such as no phones at the dinner table or after 9 PM. 2. Encourage Offline Activities Encourage your teenager to engage in offline activities. Dr. Nigam recommends finding hobbies that your teen enjoys, like sports, reading, or arts and crafts. 3. Model Healthy Behavior Model healthy screen habits. Dr. Nigam emphasizes setting a good example by limiting your own screen time and being present during family interactions. 4. Create Tech-Free Zones Designate tech-free zones in the home. For instance, keep phones out of bedrooms to promote better sleep hygiene. 5. Educate About the Risks and Benefits Educate your teenager about the risks and benefits of screen time. Dr. Nigam advises having open conversations about how screen time affects their brain and well-being. 6. Use Technology to Your Advantage Use technology to limit screen time. Numerous apps and built-in phone features can help manage screen time. Dr. Nigam recommends using these tools to set limits and track usage. 7. Foster Real-World Connections Encourage your teenager to build real-world relationships. Dr. Nigam suggests creating opportunities for social interaction outside of the digital realm, such as arranging playdates or participating in group activities. The Role of Parents and Caregivers Throughout the podcast, Dr. Nigam emphasizes the significant role parents and caregivers play in helping teenagers manage their screen time. He acknowledges the challenges but stresses the importance of patience, consistency, and open communication. By working together, families can create a balanced approach to screen time that supports everyone's health and well-being.
