Beyond the Veil:  Exploring Love and Relationships with David Hoffmeister In this talk, David Hoffmeister draws on Jesus' teachings to illuminate the true nature of our existence. He emphasizes that we are not separate from our Creator but one Spirit, Christ. David uses the movie “Chances Are” to take us into an experience of reality much beyond what we would call the everyday human experience. The real love of God is so far beyond human experience that we have only received glimmers, and the prayer remains: "Bring me a higher love." The movie commentary takes us beyond our limited definitions of love and relationship. It lifts us higher into a sense of the holy relationship: the connection with the divine and the holy instant. David is a mastermind guiding us toward a deeper understanding of love and relationships. GIANNI RUSSO was born in Manhattan in 1943 and raised in the then close-knit Little Italy, and later Rosebank, Staten Island. After reprising Carlo Rizzi in a brief flashback scene at the end of The Godfather Part II, Russo acted in more than 46 films, including Goodnight, My Love (1972), Lepke (1975, as Albert Anastasia), Laserblast (1978), Chances Are (1989), The Freshman (1990), Side Out (1990), Another You (1991), Super Mario Bros. (1993), Any Given Sunday (1999) and Seabiscuit (2003). Russo claims that he started a fledgling career in organized crime working as an errand boy and mob associate for Frank Costello as an adolescent but later abandoned the dangerous and volatile lifestyle of organized crime. The Staten Island Mafioso Tommy Bilotti was reportedly best man at Russo's wedding. Since the beginning of his acting career, Russo owned a Las Vegas restaurant called Gianni Russo's State Street at 2570 State Street on the Las Vegas Strip (closed in 1988), and reportedly defeated 23 federal criminal indictments on a variety of charges stemming from alleged organized crime associations. Russo is also a singer. In 2004, he released a CD called Reflections that pays homage to Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. Russo owns a wine brand, Gianni Russo Wines, which debuted in 2009. In 2019, he published his memoir, Hollywood Godfather: My Life in the Movies and the Mob. EPSIODE 56 | Red Pill This! The Simulation Proposal Mainly inspired by a 1999 movie, many people suspect we may be living in a computer simulation of some sort. If we are, how can we tell? Maybe by looking at some ideas from physics, which has some truly unusual ideas as to the nature of things. The universe might be made of tiny vibrating strings, or physicalized information. It might be a hologram, or a big brain, or an artifact of statistics. All these ideas seem to point to an underlying code of some kind. Kelly Leslie's Biography My name is Kelly Leslie, and I am a retired Principal with 30+ years of experience in the field of education. During that time, I developed an affinity for children with special needs and continue to strive to highlight the importance of recognizing all our strengths. To that end, in my retirement, a valued colleague-friend and I co-created an organization entitled Believe Beyond Bounds to showcase children and young adults with special needs. In a further attempt to continue to impact young children, I have created some children's picture books. I believe it's never too early to teach our children about positive differences, acceptance, kindness, and inclusion. It is this belief that inspired me to create the Hannah Series and the Bruno Series, picture books for children aged 4-8. It is my hope to focus on the incredible strengths showcased by children with special needs and, through this, continue to support all children, as well as provide resources for both parents and educators. I have recently had the pleasure of co-authoring an SEL (social, emotional learning) curriculum resource for K-3 teachers with Joyce Tam. We have developed an easy-to-use resource that incorporates all 6 of the picture books, focusing on (positive) Differences, Acceptance, Kindness, and Inclusion - The DAKI. Our hope is to support educators in facilitating social-emotional growth in the classroom. In addition, to help create a climate where students will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of self while supporting one another in a collaborative learning environment. I have also published my first YA novel, Chances Are... my hope with this novel is to impact our young adult audience with a message around learning to appreciate your personal strengths, be unapologetically yourself and your own best friend, always. Next, multi-talented speaker/singer, Rick Lozano, delivers a hilarious tune that chronicles his improbable life, "How To Be Like Me." Then, I know, you'll be amazed as you listen to world-class classical pianist, Silvia Santinelli's performance of Ravel's "Concerto for the Left Hand. Our forth great performance is presented by singer/songwriter/teacher, Juan Ortiz and one of the top mariachi groups in the world, The Campanas de America. Their rendition of "La Negra," will bring a smile to your heart.  Finally, treat your ears to an unexpected musical moment, when I asked the legendary Johnny Mathis to sing a few bars of his iconic romantic song, "Chances Are." Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 75th episode and fourth year anniversary production of "VideoFuzzy," reporting the progress I've made in cataloging nearly 3,000 VHS transfers and digital recordings. Delayed somewhat by our first roadtrip out of state since the fall of 2019 -- WORTH IT -- my Friday Night Feature this installment, I talk about Mos Def, Jack Black, Danny Glover and Melonie Diaz in an HBO presentation of 2008's "Be Kind, Rewind." I skip lightly past Cross Connections, touching on Jack Black and Allyce Beasley over the course of the episode, and brief Fond Reflections of Irv Gooch and Ned Beatty, and I highlight Danny Glover as a Golden Thread through my media encounters. In my Classic Collection (VHS-to-DVD), I have cataloged through disc 1,150. I dig into Damon Wayans, Jada Pinkett Smith and Michael Rapaport in Spike Lee's "Bamboozled" (2000); with comments on David Lynch's "Blue Velvet" and "Eraserhead"; Jon Stewart's Wacky List of Things: Bad Ways to Learn You've Been Fired From Your Life's Work; "Superstore's" Ben Feldman's appearances in "Medium" and "Mad Men"; an appearance by Stan Lee in "The Simpsons"; dueling reviews on the fourth season finale of "Bones"; Apu Nahasapeemapetilon antics and a misdelivered line in "Coming to Homerica," the 20th season finale of "The Simpsons," and "The Golden Compass." In my Current Collection (digital recordings), I recently cataloged Disc X400 in my Current Collection, comments on the FX Pride documentaries ahead of the third and final triumphant season of "Pose," Katey Sagel in "Rebel," the "Scrubs" sixth season musical episode of "My Musical," "Kids in the Hall" and "Chad," and such movies as Frank Sinatra as "Tony Rome" (1967), "Chances Are" (1989), "Pulp Fiction" (1994), "Glass" (2019) and "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" (1953). In my Streaming activities, I stream the final sixth season episode of "Community" IFC declined to rebroadcast. Also, I highlight Cornstock Theatres' streaming stage production of "Talk Radio" on May 29, ahead of their production of "The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abriged) [Revised]," with comments on a recent PBS "Great Performances" production of Anton Chekov's "Uncle Vanya." Finally, in "Video Outtakes," I touch on an issue I've struggled with putting this production together: editing my stuttery, stammery recordings, including samples of raw recordings as examples. I appreciate everyone's patience with me in these productions. Onward! TOP TEN: Here's a "top ten" episode guide for people looking for a quick read-in on this blog and podcast effort. Enjoy!

Bob Marley avant Bob Marley: chefs-d'œuvre oubliés et retrouvés

Very good trip Marley

Playlist The Wailers : « Simmer Down » extrait de l'album Artistes divers « Studio One Classics » « Mellow Mood » extrait de l'album « All the Hits 1 » Bob Marley & the Wailers : « Rock to the Rock » album « The Complete Wailers 1967 to 1972 - Part 1 » « Bend Down Low (alternate) » extrait de l'album « The Complete Wailers 1967 to 1972 - Part 1 » « Chances Are (alternate) » extrait de l'album « The Complete Wailers 1967 to 1972 - Part 1 » « My Cup » extrait de l'album « Small Axe - The UK Upsetter Recordings, 1970 to 1972 » « Corner Stone » extrait de l'album « Small Axe - The UK Upsetter Recordings, 1970 to 1972 »« Duppy Conqueror » extrait de l'album « Small Axe - The UK Upsetter Recordings, 1970 to 1972 » « Sun Is Shining » extrait de l'album « African Herbsman » « Put It On (alternate) » extrait de l'album « The Complete Wailers 1967 to 1972 - Part 1 » « Black Progress (Medley) » extrait de l'album « The Complete Wailers 1967 to 1972 - Part 1 » « Selassie Is the Chapel » extrait de l'album « The Complete Wailers 1967 to 1972 - Part 1 »

One beautiful September day, three men convene on Martha's Vineyard, friends ever since meeting in college circa the sixties. They couldn't have been more different then, or even today–Lincoln's a commercial real estate broker, Teddy a tiny-press publisher, and Mickey a musician beyond his rockin' age. But each man holds his own secrets, in addition to the monumental mystery that none of them has ever stopped puzzling over since a Memorial Day weekend right here on the Vineyard in 1971: the disappearance of the woman each of them loved–Jacy Calloway. Now, more than forty years later, as this new weekend unfolds, three lives are displayed in their entirety while the distant past confounds the present like a relentless squall of surprise and discovery. Shot through with Russo's trademark comedy and humanity, Chances Are . . . also introduces a new level of suspense and menace that will quicken the reader's heartbeat throughout this absorbing saga of how friendship's bonds are every bit as constricting and rewarding as those of family or any other community.

When you don't put out an album for five years, the new songs have the chance to cover a lot of ground. Hayes Carll (and guest vocalist Allison Moorer) sat down with Folk Alley and our friends at Beehive Productions at the 30A Songwriters Festival -- beginning with a performance of his 2015 Grammy-nominated "Chances Are," which also earned a nomination for singer Lee Ann Womack. Hayes' new songs from 'Lovers and Leavers' take listeners along on his journey from the joys of fatherhood to break-up of his marriage and the start of something new.
