Andrea Martin has been a force to be reckoned with in the comedy world since her professional debut as part of the Toronto cast of ‘Godspell' in 1972 and a few years later as a cast member on Canada's answer to ‘Saturday Night Live,' ‘SCTV'—both alongside Martin Short. This summer, she is reteaming with Short once more on Season 3 of ‘Only Murders in the Building,' which premieres next month on Hulu. In this episode—our final one for a while—Martin teases her role as Steve Martin's love interest and reveals there may have been a moment when she was up for the part that ultimately went to Selena Gomez. The 76-year-old actress also reflects on five decades in show business, from the ego blow of never being asked to do SNL to an update on Martin Scorsese's SCTV reunion documentary to the one big project that is still on her career bucket list. What does it take to be a specialist? First, understand the weight of the moment as one reveals the inner layers of thoughts as a human being. With topics including Eddie Murphy being his hero, how to deal with hecklers and the sacrifices one has to make to become a comedian, Keith Pedro exemplifies that and more. In this episode, Keith gives the best description of a comedian and their intention as they are on stage: "I want you to hear my flaws…" yet we as a society expect or demand perfection.
We are back in the realm of movies and film as Keith sits down with noted film critic Rob Rector again! They discuss first, a great take on whether Dave Bautista is a better actor than the Rock. Then, they get into the meat of the episode, where they go over the comedy styles of one Doctor of Thuganomics, John Cena! His film career is dissected with his more comedic roles and a good time is had by the two. Sit back, relax and enjoy the show! Brought to you by MANSCAPED.

John Mulaney is one of, if not, the funniest comedian nowadays. He made a name for himself in stand-up but is more famous now for co-producing one of the biggest animated sitcoms on Netflix called ‘Big Mouth’. It was a toss of a coin whether co-creating a show about the discovery of sexuality in middle school would land Mulaney an Emmy or a guest spot on To ‘Catch a Predator’, but the show has gained a huge following and has garnered a lot of attention for the comedian. But of course, he’s a stand-up comedian first. Sure, comedians like Richard Pryor and George Carlin once joked about corruption and resisting the system while Mulaney jokes about how he’s intimidated by his French bulldog named Petunia, but who cares? Funny is funny. Blake Pavey is an 18 year old Aussie TikTok sensation. You wont find him doing the 'renegade' or hitting the 'woah' but rather as one of the many characters in his social media comedic skits. His style has been likened to that of Chris Lilley & there is no doubt that beyond the app that has taken the world by storm, Blake has a bright future ahead of him in the big wide world of entertainment. When he's not popping up in your 'for you' page, he's just living life as a typical Aussie fella. On the cusp of finishing his years at school & navigating life as a fellow cystic fibrosis patient, Blake has a great 'take it as it comes' attitude & doesn't let life's challenges define him or weigh him down. A really good fella & a fun little chat that i'm sure you will enjoy, This episode is proudly sponsored by: Zachary Biddulph - Mortgage Broker - https://zacharybiddulph.com/ Jake Mackenzie - Real Estate Agent - 0411 574 568 Dr Sanjay Parasher - The Foot & Ankle Clinic Of Australia - https://thefaca.com.au/about/ - 1300 03 03 24 To support #42forCF head to https://cysticfibrosis.grassrootz.com/our-fundraisers/42forcf-bradley-j-dryburgh Big Love, Brad.

Melissa Rivers Steps Behind The Rope. David and Melissa get right into it like old friends. They waste no time in talking about dating, or lack thereof, during Covid and ponder whether dating is ever really worth it if you can’t sleep with the air conditioning at the temperature you prefer or if you have to give up sleeping diagonal?. Melissa lets us know how quarantine has been going with son Cooper and what quarantining with Joan would have been like. One way Melissa has been keeping busy during quarantine is with her own “Group Text with Melissa Rivers” Podcast where she talks about, well, everything her friends and her talk about in a group text. #brilliant #funny. Reflecting back on her own life, as well as the life of her Icon, Comedic Genius, Legend of a Mother Joan Rivers, we discuss the origins of “Who Are You Wearing” and how that one phrase changed Red Carpets forever. That one phrase ultimately also helped lead to a little TV show known as “Fashion Police”, where Melissa was Executive Producer and later Host. Speaking of Fashion Police Hosts, we discuss Melissa’s colleagues Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic, George Kotsiopoulos, Nene Leakes, Brad Goreski, and Margaret Cho. Fashion has certainly taken a turn this year, but Melissa lets us know who is winning quarantine fashion and what Joan would think about wearing a mask. As far as comedy goes, Melissa discusses her favorite current female comics. Finally, we end with a game of rapid fire hot takes on some of life’s greatests: Madonna, Cher, Brad and Angie, Oprah, Beyonce and so much more!!@melissariversofficial@melissariversgrouptext@behindvelvetrope @davidyontefBonus Episode Alert!!! https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetropeThis episode is brought to you by betterhelp.com/velvetrope (Better Help)Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
