Thoughts on Breathing I use a breathing technique to control my stutter. On the other hand, I also practice different types of breathwork whether it is Wim Hof or conscious, connected breathing. In fact, I'll have to connect you with John Mensa who was a fantastic breathwork teacher. And, of course, traditional mindfulness meditation also incorporates a lot of mindful breathing. Singer App: Calm App: Nike Running App (Combining mindfulness with running) Bullying Story I wish mindfulness had been taught when I was in school. It would have made an enormous difference because I've lost count of the number of times I would go back home to my room, just feeling absolutely awful about what had happened at school. I felt belittled and I felt so small. So the way that mindfulness would have had a tremendous impact is by reminding me that I am not the feelings I'm having. I'm not the thoughts that I'm having. The mere fact that these are entities that I am having implies separation between the ‘I', and what is being felt and being experienced. Having that healthy ability to observe rather than identify and react would indeed have allowed me to feel what I needed to feel in a healthier way, as opposed to going for avoidance as my MO. In our surprise final finalé episode, we bring you the audio recording from the Artist Talk for the Border is a Weapon Exhibition, moderated by Jose Diaz - the former Chief Curator at the Andy Warhol Museum. It took place February 22, 2022 over zoom to an audience of about 50-60 people. All artists were present except Daniela Cavazos Madrgial and Tereneh Idia who were not available that evening. At that point the exhibition The Border is a Weapon, curated by Gil Rocha at 937 Gallery in Pittsburgh, PA had been open almost a month and had been seen by thousands including the opening night that was packed and overflowing with people. This conversation flowed easily between the artists and Jose Diaz. It serves now as an important historic document of a show that continues to grow and travel, most recently it was shown at the Laredo Center for the Arts, summer 2022, and will continue to the University of Syracuse later in 2023. Enjoy! And thank you for being part of our Other Border Wall Podcast series. It has been a pleasure serving you in such creative and positive ways! 62. Joze Piranian - Radical Self-Acceptance “The fear of being rejected or being judged for sounding different, got in the way. And that's an interesting parallel that can be understood through one of my favorite metaphors that I speak about in my talks. And that's the idea that everyone stutters. That inner stutter could be the fear of rejection. The fear of failure or the fear of even the fear of success. And these are all inner stutters that act as roadblocks. And ultimately that shrink our destined by stripping away countless possibilities.” Guest Info: Joze Piranian is a lifelong stutterer turned International Speaker helping people who hold back turn fear into action so that they overcome their “inner stutter” and unlock their true potential in life. After avoiding speaking almost entirely growing up in Beirut due to a debilitating stutter, Joze has won the Inspirational Speaker of the Year award and has performed stand-up comedy in 3 continents and 3 languages (he stutters in 6 of them!). Takeaway Tips: Questions to consider, thanks to what we learned from Joze: What's your inner stutter? What area of your life is a block or challenge for you? The first step: Identify your inner stutter. What is it? The second step – Own it. Embrace it. Third step: take deliberate action to work with your inner stutter. 2. Own your uniqueness! Practice radical self-acceptance. What does radical self-acceptance look like for you? Look in the mirror and celebrate all that you are, exactly as you are. Until next week, stay generous everyone! Pues esperando al invitado nos quedamos, a ver si la próxima vez puede ser. Por lo títulos no guiaros que últimamente el mono no da una, jajaja.
In this episode, Allison Emm talks with Joze Piranian about fears and accomplishments within the public speaking community. With a stutter that doesn't stop him, Joze has made many strides as a speaker including winning awards and a program on TedX. From this, Joze shares with us how he slowly overcame his fears, as well as tricks he uses more recently to keep his performance anxiety in check. Joze Piranian (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jozepiranian/) is of Armenian descent, born and raised in Lebanon, living in Toronto, and a TEDx speaker and stand-up comedian who has a stutter. With humor and insight, he talks about his story of growing up mostly silent in a place where his stutter was taboo to taking the stage to control his story and inspire others to be more inclusive.
Joze "Flex" joins the inner circle on this Father's Day episode to walk us through what it was like for him to compete in Men's Physique, sponsorships, and his role in Cosplay as Aguaman. In this fun and informative episode there was only one way to end this episode then with a nice game of "Would you rather..."
Would you hide from the outside world if you suffered from a debilitating stutter? Our guest held himself from doing many things in life and even tried to convince his teachers to not require him to do presentations in school. But one day he decided to change his life by getting out of his comfort zone. Now he's a comedian, a keynote speaker, and has one of the most successful TEDx talks online. He promotes the message of putting our fears aside and owning what makes us unique. This is my amazing conversation with Joze Piranian. After spending most of his life avoiding speaking due to a debilitating stutter, Joze Piranian is now a TEDx speaker, the recipient of the Inspirational Speaker of the year award in 2017 and a stand-up comedian who has performed in 3 continents and 3 languages. Two of his talks went viral online in 2019 across with more than 3 million views worldwide. More recently, Joze was the keynote speaker on Diversity & Inclusion at the HR Leaders Summit, & the Hollywood Innovation and Technology Summit in LA, where he shared the stage with the CIO of the Walt Disney Company and received a standing ovation from hundreds of entertainment executives. He has also performed for the United Nations and for prestigious educational institutions such as McGill & and Queen's University. My next guest, Joze Piranian, had stuttered his whole life. He saw this as an embarrassment, avoiding any social activity that came about. But his intuition wanted him to get over this fear, having him talk to 100 people per day at a mall and despite being laughed at, he gained the confidence he needed to move on. This confidence has had him use his stutter as a message to others as both a comedian and a professional speaker, telling others that they can overcome any limitation they think they have. Imagine struggling to say your own name. Growing up with a severe stutter in Lebanon, Joze Piranian avoided speaking almost entirely out of the fear of being judged for being 'different'. In his second year of university, he begged all of his professors to exempt him from all presentations. He was committed to building a life with as little social interaction as humanly possible. Well, sometimes your plans aren't the plans the universe has for you - if only you listen and take action. Over the past three years, EVERYTHING changed for Joze. He won the award of Inspirational Speaker of the Year in 2017 with SpeakerSlam, delivered a TEDx talk & performed stand-up comedy for the United Nations and in 3 continents and 3 languages. He didn't give in to that voice that told him to quit. And nor should you. Join Paul and Joze as they talk about facing your fears - over, and over, and over again. That's when winning happens!

Man, what an amazing sequence of events that brought us together. I had checked my junk emailed before I found Joze's email sitting there, waiting to be opened. Born in Lebanon and now speaking around the world, Joze's life didn't start in an ideal way. His family had found out that he had a severe stutter, and rather than embracing it, he hid for half of his life, trying to stay away from individuals. What followed after that is one of the most inspirational stories ever. Wow! A truly remarkable individual and absolutely grateful to have met him. After scouring through my junk email, I saw that Joze had emailed me, outlining things that he had overcome (debilitating stutter) and sending links to his work. I quickly jumped on YouTube and saw that he had had goalcasts and a Tedx Talk on there. I was in awe about his awe-inspiring, fear-defying leap that he took in overcoming what society deemed as a disability. Joze Piranian has now given stand-ups in three different continents, won the inspirational speaker of the year award, has been hosted on many podcasts, and continues to defy all fear-defying odds. This is one of the best podcasts you'll ever listen to, so please listen in, check out his links in the description, and share this with someone who made need to hear this. Joze Piranian is a TEDx Speaker, Seasoned Stutterer and Stand-up Comedian who has performed comedy for three years in three continents and in three languages. He was featured on CBC Laugh Out Loud and has opened for comedian NEMR multiple times in front of thousands at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto, Club Soda in Montreal and "O" in Beirut. Joze has also performed at The Laugh Factory (LA and Chicago), The Stand (Edinburgh), Absolute Comedy (Toronto, where he lives) and The Comedy Nest (Montreal) among other venues. This is Episode 12 of the VulnerABLE Podcast!Growing up with a speech impediment would have it's challenges, it kept him quiet in public and even with family. Now he's facing his fears and becoming an accomplished speaker and comedian!Growing up wasn’t easy by any means for this man, at a young age he would end up with a stutter that in many ways kept him quiet for years. From being extremely socially anxious in public settings, to even avoiding contact with his family at times. Even after learning techniques in England to help him control his speech impediment, it would still be years before he’d find the courage to speak openly. In university he actually asked to be exempt from any presentations in front of his classmates. But then something inside of him made him decide that he needed to begin facing his fears, and maybe this is where he’d find the power to move forward. Not willing to play small he decided to try another technique he was taught and go out in public to find and speak to 100 complete strangers. He received everything from strangers who embraced him and shared their stories too, to people who either laughed at him or simply turned and walked away. Through it all it’s given him the strength to try new things, and overcome what was once the thing that held him back most. Now he’s an accomplished public speaker, speaking on the TEDx stage, and a stand up comedians who’s performed internationally. Instead of letting people bring him down, he uses his uniqueness to lift others up, and makes a joke out of the stutter that once kept him from speaking at all. It’s not only inspiring to hear his story, but heartwarming as well because it truly shows us that even when we are so close to giving up, we have the ability to make a drastic change by facing our fears to build the life of our dreams. For more information on Joze Piranian you can follow him on social media:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yeswayjoze/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jozepiranianLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jozepiranian/Website: https://www.jozepiranian.com/

One of his talks went viral online this year ; it was viewed by more than two million people worldwide. In this episode, Joze shares his tale of overcoming adversity to motivate others to face their fears, overcome their obstacles and skyrocket their true potential in both their professional and personal lives.
When Jose Azares launched his popular Calgary burger and milkshake chain, REGRUB, five years ago, he didn’t realize he was laying the foundation for his next entrepreneurial venture - NIDUM. This impact-driven startup solves serious staffing problems for restaurants and other high turnover industries while creating more opportunities for unemployed and underemployed Calgarians.
"The only way out is through" Joze Piranian is a lifelong stutterer on the quest to confront his fears one stage a time. After spending most of his life avoiding speaking out of the fear of being judged for being "different", he is now a TEDx speaker, the winner of the Grand Slam competition at inspirational speaking competition Speaker Slam, and a stand-up comedian who's performed at the Laugh Factory in Chicago, the Broadway Comedy Club in NY, Comedy Nest in Montreal and Absolute Comedy in Toronto. Joze's mission is to share his tale of overcoming adversity in order to to motivate people to face their deepest fears, overcome their obstacles (their “inner stutter”) and fulfill their potential. Remember, the only way out is through. If you want to massively upgrade your comedic wit, philosophy on hardship or need a dose of inspiration, look no further.
Joze discusses a system of helping younger people discern God's will through an 8 week cohort meeting in various countries of the globe.

Tratamos un poquito de hablar sobre temas serios y al final acabamos perdiendo el norte. La culpa de todo la tiene MOI jejejejeje. He de reconocer que Joze también pudiera ser socio colaborador y autor intelectual. Bromas a parte: Un abraaaaaaaaazo! Suerte a Moi!
