Bill Betts engages in an enlightening dialogue with Crystal Lee, a distinguished business coach specializing in the pet grooming industry, and Tim Seymour from Profit First Professionals. The pivotal focus of this episode revolves around the innovative financial management system known as Profit First, which advocates for a paradigm shift in how business owners perceive and allocate their profits. By altering the traditional formula of sales minus expenses equals profit, the Profit First methodology encourages entrepreneurs to prioritize profit from the outset, thereby fostering a more sustainable and profitable business model. Through this discussion, I gain valuable insights into the practical applications of Profit First within the context of the pet grooming sector and the broader implications for financial health in small businesses. The episode serves as a comprehensive resource for pet grooming professionals seeking to refine their financial strategies and enhance their business operations.Takeaways: The Profit First methodology emphasizes the importance of prioritizing profit by allocating funds to a separate account before expenses are accounted for. Business owners often struggle with understanding their finances, leading to reactive rather than proactive financial management, which can result in unexpected tax liabilities. The Profit First system encourages a disciplined approach to financial planning, helping business owners forecast and manage their income and expenses effectively. Implementing Profit First can lead to a mindset shift, where individuals begin to view their finances with greater clarity and confidence, ultimately improving their financial health. Regularly reviewing and adjusting allocation percentages within the Profit First system enables business owners to optimize their financial strategies over time. Establishing a series of dedicated accounts for profit, expenses, taxes, and owner's pay can simplify financial management and enhance overall business profitability. Norma Rae (1979) describes the struggle of Norma Rae Webster (Sally Field), a factory worker with limited education, to unionize a textile mill in North Carolina. The film was directed by Martin Ritt from a screenplay by Irving Ravetch and Harriet Frank Jr., and is based on the true story of Crystal Lee Sutton (as told in the 1975 book Crystal Lee, A Woman of Inheritance by New York Times reporter Henry P. Leifermann). Reuben Warshowsky (Ron Leibman), a union organizer from New York City, persuades Norma to help him organize a union. But Norma and Reuben must overcome a series of obstacles, including pressure and harassment from management as well as internal divisions among the textile workers. Norma, moreover, must navigate issues in her personal life, including with her new husband Sonny (Beau Bridges), who resents Norma's growing commitment to the union. Ultimately, Norma succeeds as the workers vote to unionize. The film offers a snapshot of the labor movement on the cusp of the Reagan era in American and features a memorable, Oscar-winning performance by Sally Field in the title role. My guest is Fred B. The problems become new challenges for the students to address in the areas of design and prototype, video and media, sewn flight articles, flight configuration, software, hardware, and biomedical science. In most situations, using the words “high school” and “food fight” in the same sentence would not necessarily portend to a positive community event. This, however, is not one of those situations. Culinary students from Gwinnett County high schools in Georgia will compete in a "food fight" to create dishes to feed the food insufficient in the community. The schools with culinary education programs will prepare 10 gallons of a creamed, protein-based product with vegetables that go over rice, potatoes or pasta that will be judged by Chef Hank Reid of the nonprofit Lettum Eat. The top two dishes will be recognized, with the rest of the food available to Reid for use in his food truck. Lettum Eat provides fresh meals for the food insufficient in Gwinnett County. The competition is also an opportunity for the students to give back to the community and consider food service as a career path. The Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) Foundation has partnered with Gwinnett Technical College and Atlanta Technical College to create a certification program for natural gas technicians, in response to a growing need for a new generation of technicians due to retirements. The one-semester program will begin on May 22 and will consist of 14 credit hours divided into four courses. AGL crews will provide ride-alongs for students. The Technical College System of Georgia received a $400,000 grant from the AGL Foundation to update facilities and equipment and support financially struggling students. Interested students can find registration information on the two colleges' websites.  Brookwood celebrated Senior Night with a 10-3 win over Dacula in boys lacrosse on Thursday. Mack Trentini led the victory with four goals, while Mason Saunders , Elijah Bryant, Chase Whigham and Landon Lofters also contributed in the attack. The Broncos improve to 5-12 overall and 3-4 in area play. On the ladies' side, Brookwood cruised to a 21-1 win over Dacula for Senior Night on Thursday. Triniti Cassidy had seven goals, one assist and two groundballs for the Broncos, while Leah Brown, Zoe Calendine and Alexis Scoggins also had big games. Greater Atlanta Christian's powerhouse volleyball program has a new head coach. The Norcross private school announced Thursday it has promoted assistant coach Crystal Lee to head coach as a replacement for the outgoing Rachel VanderPol. VanderPol led the Spartans to the Class AAAAA state championship in 2022 – with Lee as an assistant — and the AAA state title in 2021. Prior to joining GAC last season, Lee coached from 2019 to 2021 at Johns Creek. She also has coached club volleyball at 575 Volleyball and A5 South. Lee played college volleyball from 2015-18 at Georgia State, leading the Panthers in attacking her final two seasons and tallying 818 career kills. She was a teammate of Kristina Stinson, North Gwinnett's head coach, early in her college career.    See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

My guest Crystal Lee is a powerhouse of energy, light and positivity.   For over 20 years she has traveled the world serving our country in the US military. First as a Technical Sergeant with the Defense Information Systems Agency and culminating her military career in April 2020 as a Network Systems Architect with the Defense Intelligence Agency. As a child, Crystal loved acting, singing, and creating characters.  Her mother, who is Filipino and her father, who is of German/English descent, had encouraged and nurtured her creativity from an early age and so she resumed her love of performing and voice work to, in her words, “inspire people throughout the world to follow their dreams through storytelling, make-believe, visualization, and magic!” During her time in the service, Crystal utilized her voice acting talents while participating in field exercises and deployments.  Her voice's unique qualities rendered it invaluable when used to authenticate section callsigns and code-words. She also starred in multiple Armed Forces Network radio and television spots, did some modeling and Hawaiian/Tahitian/Belly dancing as creative outlets from the rigidity of military life.   After she retired, she did a short stint as a government contractor, then a government civilian and quickly realized that between the office politics and her unfulfilled feelings that it was time to leave government work altogether.  After doing so, she says her life opened up to a whirlwind of possibilities and it was time to create her own reality.   Crystal is now a voice actor specializing in voice-over for animation, commercials, and industrials, the Founder and CEO of Crystal J Productions, a service-disabled veteran, Belly Dancing nerd, and magical being, Crystal is an amalgamation of beauty, integrity, discipline, creativity, and quirkiness. Obviously the industry thinks so as well given her commercial demo was nominated for a SOVAS Award in 2021. To former Miss California and TV personality,  Crystal Lee, self-worth is not a number on a scale. Such an important discourse these days!   The successful personality development coach and entrepreneur, who thrived from a difficult place being Asian-American, recognizes that the highly competitive environment of pageants would sometimes require you to go beyond the lines and limits of a healthy weight. But Crystal also underscores her most prized takeaway from that glamorous world: use your desire, autonomy and agency to live healthily, thrive and inspire others.   Each one of us is unique. And unique as we are, we have different relationships with our bodies and food. And those relationships should never be conflated by our body shape or weight. Weight loss and living healthy is about looking inside and starting to implement the changes you want from your own truth!   Watch the video and get some boost and inspiration from Crystal Lee! ---         Enjoying my content?
