Send us Fan MailIn this episode, I'm sitting with something that has weighed on so many of us for far too long — the relentless mental noise around food, what I call food chatter, and what it actually takes to quiet it for good. I'm not talking about another meal plan or a new set of rules. I'm talking about what is happening in your brain when the spiral starts, and the two science-backed strategies that peer-reviewed research has proven can interrupt it. We dig into Rumination-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy — which sounds clinical but is honestly one of the most practical tools I've come across — and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, which teaches you to watch a thought without obeying it, and why that single skill changes everything around food obsession. I also share a story about my sister that still lives in my heart, talk about what my son and the Game of Thrones soundtrack taught me about dropping resistance, and make the case for why sitting down to eat your meal is one of the most underrated acts of self-respect you can give yourself. This episode is grounded in real research, real life, and the kind of honest conversation I hope feels like a walk with a good friend.Quote of the Week: "True silence isn't the complete absence of thoughts; it is the act of stepping back and watching your thoughts without attaching to them or fighting them. When you stop struggling against your mental chatter, it loses its power over you." - Anonymous Citations:1. Morillo-Sarto, H., et al. (2023). Ever feel like staying healthy today requires constant effort, planning, and discipline? You're not imagining it. Modern life is designed in ways that make health harder than it used to be. From ultra-processed foods and sedentary jobs to a culture built around convenience and constant access to calories, our environment often works against our biology. In this episode, we break down why maintaining your health today can feel like an uphill battle—and why that doesn't mean you're failing. It means you're navigating what public health researchers call an “obesogenic environment”: surroundings that make overconsumption easy and physical activity harder. You'll learn how changes in our food system, movement patterns, and daily routines have reshaped the health landscape—and most importantly, what you can do about it.In this episode:Why modern environments promote overeatingHow ultra-processed foods increase calorie intakeWhy sedentary lifestyles changed daily energy expenditureThe hidden role of convenience and “friction” in eating behaviorWhy health requires more intention todayFive practical strategies to make healthy choices easierThe goal isn't perfection—it's awareness and creating an environment that supports your health instead of working against it.You're not failing. You're navigating a system that wasn't built for human health. ReferencesBaumeister, R. F., et al. (1998). Ego depletion. Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. Ducrot, P., et al. (2017). Think menopause is why you're gaining weight? It's not. The truth: your metabolism stays stable from age 20 to 60. What does change? Your energy balance—and most women don't see it happening. In this episode, I unpack the real reason weight loss feels harder now, and what you can do to shift it. You'll learn how energy in (food) vs. energy out (movement) drives fat loss, why tracking intake matters more than ever, and how your body subtly burns less as you lose weight—without you even noticing. What you'll walk away with: Why “calories” are just energy—and why mindset around them matters The law of thermodynamics: no one gets around it How untracked changes in daily movement stall fat loss Why tracking isn't about judgment—it's data to guide your goals What's really behind midlife weight gain (and it's not your hormones) Cut through the confusion. If weight loss has felt impossible lately, this might be the missing piece. Hieperdepiep Hoera! We trappen af met vriend-van-de-show Maarten Ducrot. ShownotesPrachtige koffiebar / wielercafé in Moraira, Spanje.

Weshalb? Kritische Fragen an SBB-Chef Vincent Ducrot.

Tra i suoi libri ricordiamo La matassa primordiale (nottetempo, 2008), Text on textile (Sylph Edition, 2012) Suonno (La Conchiglia, 2012), Fallaste corazon (Il Notes Magico, 2012). Presso Quodlibet ha pubblicato La stoffa a quadri (2018), La vita femminile (2021) e I ventidue luoghi dello spirito (2022).IL POSTO DELLE PAROLEAscoltare fa Pensarehttps://ilpostodelleparole.itQuesto show fa parte del network Spreaker Prime. Was macht die Bahn so optimistisch?
M'as tu regardé ? As tu observé ma vie de femme ?
