Today's podcast is with Emma Cannon, a best selling author, speaker, mentor, acupuncturist, mystic and mother who, I am very sad to say, passed away a few weeks after I recorded this conversation. Initially drawn to Emma's renowned work in fertility, I was struck by her profound wisdom and spiritual depth as soon as I stepped into her magical home. What began as an exploration of fertility evolved into a much broader discussion about life itself. I sought Emma's insights into her philosophy on life, shaped by her experiences supporting countless couples and navigating her own journey through years of chemotherapy. Cancer which is often referred to as life's greatest teacher, underscored Emma's understanding of existence. As our conversation unfolded, I couldn't help but delve into Emma's mystical side. With curiosity piqued by my growing fascination with the history of witches, I posed the question to Emma, prompting a smile and a candid acknowledgment of her affinity with the mystical realm. It became evident that Emma's ability to guide souls and find peace transcended the conventional boundaries of medicine and ventured into the realm of magic. I hope you enjoy this interview with the amazing and mystical Emma Cannon. My heart and love is with her family, and many thanks to them for encouraging me to release this interview after her passing. Emma, you magical being. I'm so pleased our conversation is finally out with the world.Follow Poppy: @poppyjamieBuy Poppy's book: https://amzn.eu/d/9PiMG3pA big thank you to Kama Ayurveda. Wembanyama arrives with far more height and hype than most No. 1 picks. Listed at 7-foot-4, he dominated his French league in his final season there, leading all players in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. Brandon Miller of Alabama was the No. 2 pick by the Charlotte Hornets and Scoot Henderson went third to the Portland Trail Blazers. NBA – Pistons, Pacers banking on lottery selections to provide immediate help on defense The Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers used lottery picks on players who should make their biggest early impact on defense while the rest of the Central Division teams sat out the first round of Thursday’s draft. Both the Pistons and Pacers ended up with two first-round picks. The Pistons added Houston guard Marcus Sasser and the Pacers landed Belmont forward Ben Sheppard later in the first round. The Pistons received some tough luck in the lottery when they got stuck with the fifth pick despite having the NBA’s worst record at 17-65. But they believe they found a keeper in Thompson. In this week's episode, I chat with Emma Cannon, a fertility and women's health expert. Emma supports couples on their path to parenthood and bridges the gap between western medicine and complementary therapies. In this conversation with Emma, we weave many themes that I know will be so powerful for you to hear. She takes us on her own journey of sitting with Ram Dass in the 90's and how this opened up the path that she is still on today. We discuss the impact of childhood sexual trauma and how this was not fully healed until many years later during a powerful experience that I can't wait for you to hear about. Emma is so generous with her knowledge about not only fertility and the cycle of life but also in giving us hope around the shadow and light in life and how working with both can lead to deep healing. Key takeaways: We hear Emma's thoughts on the journey of life including pre-birth, birth, sex and death Learning to find her gift was something she was taught at a young age by her Father Comparing yourself to others isn't helpful at all, you can only be yourself There are links between our beliefs, trauma and fertility We have to find a way to create safety within ourselves Healing ancestral trauma and shame is vital for us to move forward As women, we are deeply impacted by patriarchal views I hope you enjoy this conversation and take away so much from it. I could have kept talking to Emma for hours! The cost of raising a child is something many advisers discuss with clients, either on marriage or when the first child is born. Everything from funding school fees to food and clothing needs to be planned carefully. But what happens when clients are unable to conceive and need fertility treatment? How can advisers discuss this sensitive topic with their clients and help them cover the cost of conception? Talking to senior editor Simoney Kyriakou on this latest FTAdviser In Focus podcast is Charlotte Gentry, founder of the IVF Network, and Dr Emma Cannon, founder of the Emma Cannon clinic. Meet the wonderful Emma Cannon. Emma is a fertility and women's health expert who crosses the bridge between Chinese and western medicine. Emma combines the best of modern research, treatments and diagnostics with holistic therapies and spiritual practices to yield effective results for each individual. Listen to her tops tips for you today. Find out more about Emma from her website: https://www.emmacannon.co.uk and you can find her fantastic books on Amazon. Get in touch: www.thefertilemind.net russell@thefertilemind.net About the Show: I help women and couples remove psychological blocks to getting pregnant. Based on my and my wife's 10 year fertility journey and the work of my clients I believe too many couples have IVF unnecessarily and that the success rate of IVF is unnecessarily low. We can see how much our mind and emotions played a part in our fertility journey and when we found a place of peace without giving up that's when the magic happened - we conceived naturally against all odds. I help me clients do the same - remove psychological blocks to getting pregnant naturally or getting the successful IVF outcome they so want. When I ask women what having a baby will give them they usually say a sense of completeness, love and purpose. It's our fear of not having these things, a fear of not being enough, worthy that tends to be behind our fear of not having a baby. These limiting beliefs have usually been around since an early age and infertility shines a spotlight on them. Many of my clients have strived for success in their life whether career or other things. That approach doesn't work for fertility. In fact it puts tension in the body which decreases their chances of success. The podcast is short dose of insight, giving women and couples new perspectives that allows them to see their fertility from the ‘inside-out'. To see help them let go of their insecure thoughts and feelings and connect to their innate wellbeing that knows they are enough and OK whatever happens. This moves having a baby from being a 'need' to to a desire. It takes the pressure of the process and their mind and body relax into it's natural flow state. Stress can impact the delicate balance of hormones required for a successful pregnancy.

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am honoured to have you here. This week is another SOLO episode where I continue to share my journey with plant medicine. This episode begins ten years on from my initial experience with plant medicine. For ten years, I truly believed that my relationship with ayahuasca had finished after my first trip to Peru. I had learned so much and had such a profound awakening and experience with aya, but it had also been extremely challenging. The hours of purging, facing my dark night of the soul and the deep, unrelenting introspection was a lot, and I felt certain I could close that door for good. That was until one day, ten years later, when I was driving, and a song came on from a CD I had purchased in Peru. The music awoke something in me, and I just knew, “I need to go back to the jungle.”Once again, I heard the call of plant medicine loud and clear. Suddenly, everywhere I turned, these messages kept appearing, each one telling me that I needed to sit with ayahuasca and listen to her teachings again. I received a serendipitous email from my dear friend Emma Cannon about an alignment master training in the Amazon for healers. The incredible Gabor Mate was hosting the retreat, and I knew immediately that I needed to be there. In this episode, I share what I learned in these ayahuasca ceremonies and how I healed my most profound trauma through the power of plant medicine. Through these lessons, my marriage was given new life, my self-worth renewed, and I was finally able to heal at the tap root of my pain and genuinely love myself. Highlights Why I decided it was time to go back to the Amazon and re-engage with plant medicine healing. How the lessons I learned in Peru completely transformed my marriage, my business, and aligned me with my soul's purpose. The powerful messages that ayahuasca can share with us and how to properly prepare your body and soul for a plant medicine journey. Why it's so important to find the right facilitator for your plant medicine experience. How to integrate the shifts and wisdom you have received from plant medicine into your daily life once you return home. Why I feel this experience prepared me to fully show up in the world during this global pandemic and enabled me to hold space for others as we move into this new paradigm. Thank you so much for listening to Part 2 of my Plant Medicine Journey. Psychedelics and plant medicines have changed my life in such a profound way, and I hope that as soon as the borders open again, I can return to the rainforest and continue this powerful maturation work. If you want to experience plant medicine, I encourage you to work with the right people who lead with integrity and pure intentions. These plants aren't a game. They are tremendously powerful teachers. Approach them with an open heart, a desire to learn and complete humility. If you do so, they will treat you well and serve your deeper maturation. I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes, and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible. Welcome to an extraordinary episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast with my soul sister, transformation partner, medicine woman, and beautiful best friend, Emma Cannon. It was an absolute joy to be able to sit down and record this episode with such an incredible healer, and the insights that I gained from our conversation were profoundly transformative, and I hope they will be for you as well. Emma Cannon is a Master Acupuncturist in her field of fertility and has helped hundreds if not thousands of women get pregnant in circumstances where they were told that wasn't possible. She's opened up doorways for life to be born for SO MANY WOMEN. She is also a medicine woman and wise teacher, and I am privileged to have her as my friend. Today's episode is something special as Emma recently received the terrible news that her breast cancer had returned and since then she has been on a journey of treatment and healing and awakening. Not only was Emma told that her cancer had returned, but she was also made aware that it had spread to her brain. There was a time this year where we thought she only had a few weeks to live. And in true Emma Cannon way, she has faced it with such courage and power, navigating through the whole process as if it were a medicine and transformational process. Hearing Emma teach and speak about Surrender is worthwhile for anyone to hear. She has so much wisdom to share, and I am so grateful she allowed me the chance to sit with her. In this episode, Emma is sharing it all. Her heart and vulnerability, her wisdom, and what it means to surrender and let go of who we think we are to come home to our highest self. Highlights Emma shares what it truly means to surrender and let go of what you think your life was meant to look like so that you can embrace what is. Why letting go of our physical appearance is a brave and necessary step to personal evolution. How we are the medicine and healing that we so desperately seek and how out of illness and facing her own mortality, she felt more alive than ever. Through illness and having her cancer return, Emma was able to heal childhood wounds and fears. She learned to let go and receive and allow others to hold her. Why accepting help isn't a sign of weakness, but a sign of immense strength and courage. We speak about what medicine truly is from both a western perspective and a more spiritual perspective and how embracing chemotherapy with love allowed Emma to heal deeply by being one with the medicine. This week's episode shows you that everything can be medicine and how you are the medicine you so desperately seek. Emma's courage, heart, and wisdom are on full magnificent display in this episode, and her friendship is the medicine I never knew I needed. I hope this podcast can give you strength in difficult situations and help you find that medicine that already exists inside of you to help you heal and grow. I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes, and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible. Connect with Nicky Instagram Website

Anya Hayes is a Pilates instructor, Mindfulness teacher and author of many pre and postnatal books, including ‘The Supermum Myth’ and ‘Pilates for Pregnancy’. She’s on a mission to empower women with the tools to navigate modern motherhood with pelvic floor and sanity intact. I believe that we all deserve to thrive, not just survive motherhood. Our energies and vitality not only benefit us, but also model good self-care habits for our children to help us all to feel better, feel more alive. Anya has worked with pregnant and postnatal women for many years Initially she was more focussed on physical strength, but after her own pregnancies and births she changed her approach to be more mindful and address emotional resilience Even a smooth, straightforward birth experience can still feel like a trauma The physical and mental are so linked, especially in early motherhood The impact of depletion Pressing pause, acknowledging the need for rest Worked with Emma Cannon as editor of her ‘Baby-Making Bible’ The vocabulary around birth - praise if you’ve had a drug-free birth and the sense of failure around abdominal birth Needing to be kind to yourself and not judging yourself Slowing down Not being in control Fundamental inner strength The ‘bounceback’ gets prioritised instead of real recovery Aesthetic instead of longevity prioritised Exercise in the first trimester: listen to your body. Fatigue. We’re taught to override what our body is telling us Different for each individual Trusting your gut What’s nourishing for you and what makes you feel healthy and well? “There’s so much toil going on inside” Our society doesn’t hold rest in high esteem The isolation of being in early pregnancy and feeling like you’re not meant to share The need for open discussion in a safe space Miscarriage is really common, yet it’s not talked about The trauma of not being able to share and how it stays within you An internal examination with a women’s health physiotherapist Kegel’s exercise emphasises the squeeze, but it’s also important to learn to soften and release - which isn’t easy to fathom The link between the diaphragm and the pelvic floor and using the sensations of the breath to connect with the pelvic floor Linking the pelvic floor with everyday movements such as lifting a bag of washing or toddler, so it isn’t another ‘to-do’ and it’s a functional movement Giving yourself an internal examination with clean hands, place your finger inside your vagina, squeeze effectively and it should feel as if there’s a baby sucking on the finger You can’t strengthen something you can’t connect to- you need the softness and awareness to be able to feel “I’m a living, dynamic, moving being: everything I’m doing is exercise” Every movement in the body influences and is influenced by the pelvic floor Pelvic floor health declines with age, particularly if it isn’t maintained with exercise and awareness Changing the vocabulary around the pelvic floor - e.g gently undulating so it can adapt to our daily life Accessing specialist postnatal care All women who feel safe to do so, should have an internal check postnatally Massage, breathing and movement for scar release Women’s health physiotherapy should be available to all Gentle pelvic floor awareness and diaphragmatic breathing can be done within 24hours of birth Avoid high-intensity exercise until you’ve had a pelvic floor check Pelvic tilts, spinal mobility and stretching whenever you feel able Reframe exercise to movement Pelvic floor recovery will also have a strengthening effect on the abdominals Massage for diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles) Alignment and posture have an impact on healing a diastasis, so you have strength for your centre before you put load on it Don’t feel guilty for needing space - it’s never selfish to step back. You can be there more for others if you’ve given yourself space.
