This month we are honored to have William Beckmann join us for the Talkin' Texas podcast. William is a country music singer-songwriter and musician from Del Rio, Texas. Having gained popularity touring in the regional Texas music scene and self-releasing four extended plays, Beckmann signed with Warner Music Nashville and subsequently released his major label debut, Whiskey Lies & Alibis, on June 20, 2025. His music is a fusion of neotraditional country, with influences of red dirt, tejano, New Mexico music, and traditional pop, with critics noting his signature crooner-style baritone voice. Beckmann has toured with Parker McCollum, Randy Rogers Band, Charley Crockett, Radney Foster, Flatland Cavalry, Midland, and Hank Williams Jr.

Roots Music Rambler is not designed to be a breaking news outlet, but don't tell Ben Chapman that. In our recent sit-down for Roots Music Rambler the Georgia-native and standout singer-songwriter dropped news item after news item. Chapman, who recently tied the knot with longtime girlfriend and fellow songwriter Meg McRee shared the news of their upcoming first child (which they'd already shared on social media), but then told of a new solo album coming up, plus a collaboration project with McRee, Brit Taylor and Adam Chafins. The foursome released “Gone as it Gets” three years ago. Apparently a 10-track LP from the group is due in early 2026! On his new solo album, Chapman said, “It's weird.” He likened it to Pink Floyd, but promised it wouldn't be a huge departure from what his fans have come to expect from him. Chapman's latest album is Downbeat. He's been touring in support of it for over a year now and has added up-and-coming performer to an already impressive songwriting resume which includes material recorded by Shelby Lynne, The Steel Woods, Flatland Cavalry and Muscadine Bloodline, among others. He's spent the better part of the last 6-7 years as a contract songwriter in Nashville, along with McCree, who is a frequent collaborator.  We were thrilled to have him join us and excited at the news he wound up sharing. ABOUT DYLAN At just 15, Dylan Rhys is already making waves as a standout in the next generation of Texas musicians. Embracing his musical passion from an early age, Dylan picked up guitar at nine, seamlessly integrating vocals shortly thereafter. It was during the early days of COVID-19 quarantine that he created his first stage by streaming his “Corona Concert Series: Live from the Driveway” for family and friends. In the summer of 2022, Dylan entered a months-long open mic competition hosted by Dosey Doe in The Woodlands, Texas, winning first place out of over 80 contestants spanning a wide range of ages and genres.  Opportunities to perform at local venues quickly followed, and he can now be found sharing his original music and a deep list of country covers throughout Central and Southeast Texas. Influenced by the likes of Shane Smith and the Saints, Flatland Cavalry and Turnpike Troubadours, and developing a sound similar to Dylan Gossett, Sam Barber and Wyatt Flores, Dylan strives to portray authenticity in his lyrics and sound. His youthful approach to songwriting and confident, charismatic stage presence have provided him the opportunity to open for national touring artists Jon Stork, Jesse Daniel, Matt Castillo, and Bailey Rae, and to share the stage in renowned venues such as Dosey Doe – The Big Barn and The Kenney Store. Currently in his freshman year, Dylan balances his music pursuits with a full course load of classes, is a lefty pitcher on the baseball team, and plays the double bass in his school's orchestra.  In his free time, he enjoys being a kid, soaking up life experiences to turn into future songs.  Look out for his first single debuting soon! Her latest album, What Else Can She Do, is a collage of different female characters who tackle that question and draw from parts of the country artist's own life. The first track's title, "It Won't Always Be This Way" was a statement that she and her mother would repeat during a particularly rough period of their lives. And that statement has proven to be true.
