When you experience something that elicits an emotional response at work, you respond according to the extent of the emotional burdens you carry. Our burdens come from our past traumas combined with the real-time heart-wrenching news–on repeat–we are moving through right now in our country. And our places of work can also be ground zero for some really painful experiences or where we relive difficult life experiences. When we can connect the impact of our traumatic and difficult life experiences to how we lead, that builds the foundation for a trauma-informed culture. It also moves us out of an individualistic lens to a collective approach to healing and change. And when we can name the traumatic experiences that happen in our places of work without retribution and move to accountability and repair, this also builds a trauma informed culture that moves us beyond pathologizing pain and struggle to normalizing. Even healing it.When the whole community is moving forward together guided by principles that foster safe and brave spaces, this is where we can cultivate change individually and systemically. My guest today has an approach to leading that supports workplaces to be thriving businesses that build the kinds of communities that heal and push back on the power over approaches so many of us were raised in and trained in.Pamela Slim is an award-winner author, speaker and business coach who works with small business owners ready to scale their businesses and IP. This podcast interview focuses on product innovation that has the power to create top-performing sales teams that live and breath their sales ambition - because they're highly motivated and their natural competitive instinct is supercharged. My guest is Sindre Haaland, Founder and CEO of SalesScreen.Sindre is the CEO & Founder of SalesScreen. Born and raised in Norway, but today lives in Brooklyn, NY. He believes that the success of every company is a result of their combined talent. That even the leading products and services fall short if the people behind them can't perform at their very best. That sparked the big idea behind SalesScreen. A tool that turns the process of selling into a team effort, combining individual motivational instruments with cultural aspects and a winning mentality. In short, SalesScreen transforms the challenging work of sales into a professional, motivating and exciting game. A game where all your employees will have fun whilst competing amongst each other for the top-position!This inspired me, and hence I invited Sindre to my podcast. We explore his journey as a tech entrepreneur. What he did wrong, that caused him to waste a full year. What it takes to break new ground in a highly competitive space like Sales Automation. We discuss why humanizing software (rather than automation alone) is key to delivering remarkable impact. Lastly, Sindre shares his experience about the importance of embracing emotion as a way to stand out in the market. Here are some of his quotes:At our first client, I remember one guy there, he took up the mobile phone application, went to the middle of off the sales floor, kind of demanded attention of everyone, and then he hits "sale." Then all the TV screens lit up with Eye of the Tiger playing. Everyone was just going crazy, the energy was so good. We were like, "Okay, we found something here." And look and behold, a week later, this executive from a large insurance chain in Europe called because she had visited this particular call center and seeing the energy for herself. She said "I'm not sure what this product is called or if you're the right one, but we want to buy. We want this for our sales teams as well. During this interview, you will learn four things:Why making people love what they do rather than just like it can mean the difference between success and failure. A massive innovation opportunityThe journey to create a product that has a wow-effect that's too compelling to ignoreHow to break new ground and defend your price tag when you're selling something people aren't necessarily looking forWhy investing in amazing people who have relevant experience and have done it before is the best thing you can do as an entrepreneur. For more information about the guest from this week:Sindre Haaland Website SalesScreen See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Even perfection won't and can't cut it if you're in relationship with a Hijackal of any stripes. This episode will help you understand this cycle, how it works, why it won't work, and why it needs to stop. These concepts can spell R-E-L-I-E-F for you! If you had a narcissistic or Hijackal parent, you were pre-conditioned to accept the poor treatment of a Hijackal. That's difficult enough! Then, you may find yourself in a supposedly romantic relationship with one, and eventually it starts to resemble the one with your parents, right? No accident! Hijackals are particularly interested in people who have been "pre-groomed" to accept their sad, frustrating, and infuriating shenanigans. So, if you did have a Hijackal parents (or, like me, had two of them), you are set up to be Hijackal Bait by that experience. You may not have felt good enough with your parents, at school, in a sports situation, or with friends. Then, the Hijackal--that person who is supposed to love you in every way--takes over the abusive behaviors. You may think that it is your job to please the Hijackal, to make them happy. NO! It isn't your job. But, a Hijackal will certainly turn those tables on you, leaving you feeling as though you can never be good enough. This has to change. This episode will help you start that journey, or accelerate it. HIGHLIGHTS OF TODAY'S EPISODE:Two kinds of people Hijackals and narcissists look forWhy you may never have felt good enoughHow Hijackals, narcissists and anti-social people control youWhy perfection will never be enoughHow to break the cycle These things can be difficult to change and integrate without professional help. Move over televangelists, there's a new prosperity gospel in town. Except this time, it's focused on personal fulfillment, "self-actualizing," and aiming to live an Instagram-perfect lifestyle. The contemporary church is heavily borrowing from the self-focused culture around us and it is leading many believers away from the simple, humble, God-focused truths of Scripture. On this episode, we speak with Dean Inserra about how we can guard against hollow, self-focused religion and instead pursue Christ-centered Christianity. On this episode we'll discuss:Why self-focused Christianity is on the riseHow this trend compares to the traditional "health and wealth" prosperity gospelExamples of this new prosperity gospel and what to watch out forWhy the notion that God exists for our personal desires is antithetical to ScriptureHow we can avoid falling into believe-in-yourself-religion and help others out of it See the Show Notes at ReasonableTheology.org/Episode40Support the show (https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/reasonabletheology)

Episode 3 of the Influencer Marketing Lab - a weekly podcast tracking the growth spurts and growing pains of influencer marketing. This podcast is sponsored by Tagger the data-driven influencer marketing platform and social listening tool. This week Scott Guthrie is in conversation with Ashley Friedlein CEO & Founder of Guild and Founder of Econsultancy. Guild is a messaging app for professionals and we'll hear why Ashley believes it's an antidote to WhatsApp, LinkedIn or Facebook. Ashley Friedlein also founded Econsultancy back in 1999 as the digital marketing best practice outlet. Through our discussion, we learn of the marked similarities between the digital landscape of the late nineties and of influencer marketing today. An industry scrambling to define itself. No agreed best practice or emerging best practice and no forum for practitioners to learn from each other. Econsultancy was founded as a place where practitioners could share what was working and why in an open, honest and transparent way in a bid for participants to become better at their jobs. Our discussion covers:The power of word-of-mouth marketing in growing Econsultancy organicallyThe benefits of SEO in building the Econsultancy brandThe challenges of building a community of like-minded people prepared to share their mistakes as well as their successesParallels between the dot com crash of 2001 and today's uncertainty of a Covid-19 economyWhy, when building a community, the most interesting things to share are the things that haven't workedWhy exit strategies usually are after 7-10 years rather than the optimistic 3-5 yearsThe challenges of international expansionThe brand extensions which were too early for the marketplace Whilst learnings and insight may be universal examples need to be relevant to the local offeringParallels and lessons to be learned from digital in 2000 and influencer marketing in 2020Entrepreneurism - the difference between having 'a great idea' and turning that idea into a realityWhat Guild is and who it is designed forWhy the world needs yet another messaging appThe opportunities and threats which artificial intelligence brings with it For more information visit influencermarketinglab.com

Welcome back to series 4 - what a season have we got lined up for you!Kicking us off is Cal Henderson, co-founder and CTO of one of this decade’s most famous tech companies - the team communications platform the majority of companies couldn’t be without, Slack. But Cal hasn’t always been CTO of Slack, he cut his teeth as co-founder and VP Eng for Glitch, a web-based massively multiplayer game, before that, he was the Director of Engineering for Flickr at Ludicorp (where he first met Slack fellow co-founder Stewart Butterfield) and then Yahoo. As you will shortly hear, Cal is considered to be one of Britain's finest exports. Although it's probably fair to say that he divides people much less than Marmite. Now residing in San Francisco where Slack is headquartered, Cal grew up in the humble county of Bedfordshire, England. After completing a computer science degree from Birmingham City University, he moved to the US in 2003, but not before landing a job after hacking into the email system of the company he wanted to work for and telling his future bosses that he could help them fix the problems they were having. This is a guy who it would appear got lucky, several times over. But in truth, all of Cal’s success has been down to hard work and his first love - computers.“From the first time I got a computer, I was like, this is what I want to do with the rest of my life. This is what I want to do for work.”We chat about:How he met Stewart ButterfieldHow he got a job through hacking the company he wanted to work forWhy investors Accel and Andreessen Horowitz didn’t mind them failingHow on Slack launch day they had 8,000 companies sign up to use SlackThe advice he’d give to his 15 year old selfLinks:www.Glitchthegame.comWant to receive our podcast on a weekly basis? In this episode I interview my hubby, Tymothy Roy, about what it means to live in the private and private membership associations. This is a hot topic in some circles these days, and for good reason. If you are looking for solutions as to live a life of freedom and of your choosing, then understanding what it means to live and operate in the private is a must. Those looking to control us and wield their power over us do so in the public domain, but they have not jurisdiction over us in the private. It's a bit of a learning curve, but if we want to see a better and free future for our children and future generations, then understanding this is crucial. In this conversation with Tym, we get into:A brief history and how Tym ties in his relationship coaching perspectives with the privacy workWhy we want to consider living in the privateWhat does 'private' actually mean? How our private lives have commingled with the publicThe freedom and benefits that living and operating in the private afford youWhat Tym's acronym, PUMA, stands forWhy paperwork isn't enough to protect you and how it must reflect your understanding of who you are and why you are doing what you are doingThe importance of not mixing private and public operations and how to get yourself into trouble running a private associationWhat it means to live in the private and there are different levels of doing soHow Tym has broken it down to 3 levels of engagement (level one addressed here and levels 2 and 3 explained at the end)Who is this NOT for?Which type of association affords the most protectionExamples of PMAs and unincorporated associationsOur permission 'programs'How are freedom to associate inherently includes the freedom to NOT associateHow the law of 'repulsion' is incorporated in the law of attractionThe next two phases of engagement...tax solutions and asset protection and trustsThe idea of 'having' a person, but not being the personAnd more!Contact Tym and find out about his projects:www.tymothyroy.comwww.pmaplanet.comwww.pmacanada.clubSet up a call with Tym:http://atlassia.org/inquiry/----------------------------------------------------------Are you concerned about the future of our children? The world needs more conscious parents.
