Have you seen Forbes' 30 Under 30 and 40 Under 40 lists? They feature the brightest, shiniest, hardest-working entrepreneurs. These individuals embody hustle, grind, and achievement. It would be exciting to get on one of those lists, right?Let's step back for a moment. When you're 40 years old, or even 50, 60, 70, or 80, your school will still be there. You have your whole life to be an owner or director. As I like to say, “I'm playing the decades game.”So who says you have to hit a certain level of success before a particular age?Running your school may not be a finite opportunity, but being present for your current season of life is.If you're raising young kids, caring for an aging parent, planning a wedding, or anything else that's important to you, you will only be in this season of life for so long.Once the door on your current season of life closes, it will never open again. Treasure the season of life you're in.Meanwhile, the school will still be there. It's a constant in your life. Now, don't misunderstand me; I'm not saying you shouldn't have big ambitions. In fact, this is an extremely common misconception among school leaders. They think that schools with a slower pace will achieve less. So they eat lunch at their desks, burn the midnight oil, and run themselves to exhaustion in order to meet their goals. What they don't realize is that rest, calm, and peace give you the breathing room you need to take stock, make intentional decisions, and take more meaningful actions.Simply put, you can accomplish more, at a more sustainable pace, when you do less.Last week on the Schools of Excellence Podcast, I talked about what causes a culture of urgency in schools. In this week's episode, I'm discussing how you can create calm and banish the urgency once and for all.Join me for a conversation about:Why calmness is the key to meaningful progressVital characteristics leaders need to adopt a culture of calmTechniques you can implement in your school to cultivate well-beingMindset shifts you can begin to embody today that will make a differenceHow a culture of calm opens you up to incredible opportunitiesLearn more and apply for the Director's Inner Circle & Owner's HQ: https://schoolsofexcellence.com/membership/ Creating the calm in your school won't happen overnight. Have you ever felt like your contributions don't matter all that much?Maybe you're knee-deep in loads of laundry or dishes in the sink, and it seems like the only thing you've done today is answer a couple of emails or feed your kids.Or maybe you tend to look at all the amazing things that others are doing with their lives and suddenly it feels like you can't measure up.But the Bible shows that Jesus ministered to others through small moments. So why do so many of us struggle to feel like the little things we do matter at all?In this episode, Jordan talks with author Rachael Adams about why every moment, big or small, matters and how the little things we do can have a big impact.Tune in to this episode to learn:Why we often feel like our life and our contributions aren't making a big enough differenceHow to shift our focus from the importance of big actions to small actionsHow Jesus demonstrated the importance of “a little” in His lifeThe role comparison plays in assessing what we have to offerHow our little offerings can drastically affect the people in our lifeWant to dig deeper? Today I am honored to speak with Hope Nemiroff, Executive Director and Founder of Breast Cancer Options and Sarah Carlson, a recent addition to the Breast Cancer Options organization. We get to hear about Hope's cancer journey which led her to be involved with extensive research and advocacy for breast cancer care and health policy. Then we spend some time understanding the importance of patient advocacy, discuss the science related to cancer care and prevention, all of the programming they offer from kids camps to metastatic retreats, and are joined by caller Ilona Ross who added more to contemplate in this complex conversation based upon her efforts to advocate for herself.Breast Cancer Options is an independent non-profit 501(C)3 organization and the largest provider of free and unique breast cancer services in the Hudson Valley. In many places, we are the only provider. We are an organization of survivors and their supporters who understand that a woman diagnosed with breast cancer is suddenly faced with some of the most important decisions she will ever make about her own healthcare. In deciding on a plan of action, it is important to understand:That all questions are good onesWhich information is credible and reliableWhat statistics really meanWhich lifestyle changes can make a differenceHow science-based integrative medicine can be used with conventional treatments. That you do not have to face all this, including physician visits, by yourselfTheir mission is to educate breast cancer patients about effective treatment options, to advocate for and support informed patient choice and to promote public awareness regarding cancer risk reduction. Here's your Moon report!Today's show was engineered by Ian Seda from Radiokingston.org.Our show music is from Shana Falana!Feel free to email me, say hello: she@iwantwhatshehas.org** Please: SUBSCRIBE to the pod and leave a REVIEW wherever you are listening, it helps other users FIND IThttp://iwantwhatshehas.org/podcastITUNES | SPOTIFY | STITCHERITUNES: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/i-want-what-she-has/id1451648361?mt=2SPOTIFY:https://open.spotify.com/show/77pmJwS2q9vTywz7Uhiyff?si=G2eYCjLjT3KltgdfA6XXCASTITCHER: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/she-wants/i-want-what-she-has?refid=stpr'Follow:INSTAGRAM * https://www.instagram.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast/FACEBOOK * https://www.facebook.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcastTWITTER * https://twitter.com/wantwhatshehas

Perhaps you are hoping that it will help him or her to be nicer to you. I hope it will! But I also hope that you will look deeply into your heart to see if there are shards of pride or jealousy that prevent you from becoming a peacemaker. If you are serious about helping to gather Israel and about building relationships that will last throughout the eternities, now is the time to lay aside bitterness. Now is the time to cease insisting that it is your way or no way. Now is the time to stop doing things that make others walk on eggshells for fear of upsetting you. Now is the time to bury your weapons of war.” (President Russell M. Nelson, April 2023)—Talk of Him is presented by Seagull Book and hosted by Ganel-Lyn Condie and John Fossum.

The late and lamented Rabbi Jonathan Sacks was a frequent critic of the emergence of a post-truth culture and also a life-long opponent of moral relativism. Yet, in his book, “The Dignity of Difference: How to Avoid the Clash of Civilizations,” he was an ardent proponent of a form of religious pluralism. When first published over 20 years ago his position was both attacked and misunderstood—giving rise to questions about how his Orthodoxy and his devotion to objective truth were able to sit alongside his advocacy for a form of religious pluralism. Samuel Lebens explored these questions in an essay for TRADITION's Spring 2022 issue titled “One God, One Truth, Many Languages: Rabbi Sacks' Pluralism Reexamined” (open access here: https://traditiononline.org/one-god-one-truth-many-languages-rabbi-sacks-pluralism-reexamined). In this podcast, Dr. Erica Brown, a consulting editor at TRADITION, talks to Lebens about these topics in Rabbi Sacks' thought and about his recent essay. Rabbi Samuel Lebens is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Haifa, and the author of, most recently, "The Principles of Judaism" (Oxford University Press), which investigates the axioms of Jewish faith through the lens of contemporary analytic philosophy, and the forthcoming "Philosophy of Religion: The Basics" (Routeledge). Dr. Erica Brown serves as the Vice Provost and Inaugural Director of Sacks-Herenstein Center for Values and Leadership at Yeshiva University. Almost one year after our first conversation, I'm honored to welcome Sarah Castor to the show again. This time, to talk about Malembe Rise's next event on September 18th, 2021, which will have Tayo Rockson as its main attraction. In this episode, we discuss why Malembe Rise chose Tayo over hundreds of orators and the things he brings to the table others speakers don't. We also talk about the communication issues the world is experiencing, the importance of celebrating our differences and build with them, rather than separate and destroy. Sarah shares her expectations about the event and the things she believes we can accomplish through it. Some Questions I Ask:Why did you decide to have an event with Tayo versus just doing something that says, please give to Malembe Rise? (1:29)How do you think his presence will add to our mission's conversation? (5:45)What would you say it is if you had to sum up what you want this event to accomplish? Hello and welcome to the Faith First Podcast where we give you a deeper look into what it means to live out your faith in the world today. Because Christ is alive we are called to live our lives at a higher standard than the world. We are to be in the world but not of it. Let us listen in as our Lead Pastor Steve Darr brings the message about A Higher Standard… In this episode you'll discover:Why being in the world we can make a differenceHow we can order our lives so that we can live to the higher standard God calls usWhy joy is the outcome of living a life at a higher standardWhat naturally happens to followers of Jesus as a result of our salvationWhat it means to be a royal priesthood, a holy nationWe as Christians, as believers and followers of the Word of God, must begin by standing on that Word and refuse to lower the bar. We must refuse what society and the world deem as right when it contradicts the teachings of God's Holy Word. We are to mirror God in many ways including His moral excellence. We can live the higher standard God calls us to live because we are citizens of the kingdom of God, we are foreigners, temporarily residing in this world. Live to honor God, live a godly life faith first.
Episode 13 Supporting The Direction of Care Watch Now https://youtu.be/CbnJWLwUCTE Listen Now Please visit Spotify or Apple Music to listen to this Episode's podcast! Episode 13 Our team discusses why it is important for families and individuals to lean into what level of care the addiction treatment professionals are recommending, because a direction of care is an essential part of a successful recovery. Topics: The importance of the progression of addiction treatment and recoveryThe length of time someone is in recovery and within addiction treatment can truly make a differenceHow families can best support the direction of care Select Quotes The data is clear, 1 year of recovery time leads to a 50% reduction in relapse, but there still is a 50% potential of relapse in just one year. This leads to the direction of the 2-year outcome of 85% reduction in relapse rate. So the more time that goes on is informing us, but it also brings forward this opportunity of the direction of care and we've got to take it seriously.Brandon Burns - CEO Episode Transcripts Episode 13 Transcript[Music]well here we are back for anotherexciting episode of finding peaks i'mexcited to be here again todayhosting after i think you tried to stealthe show last timeyeah tried no chris i was host chrisyou right it doesn't matter to theviewers um welcome backi'm excited to be with my pals mycolleagues here jason friesmachief clinical officer clint nicholsonchief operating officer at peaksrecovery centersand the topic that i want to bring tothe forefront todayis direction of care the continuumin this regard and one of the thingsthat i'm energized in talking about thisit seems like in theaddiction treatment space that thisindustry has lost a little bit of itsedgeit seems like at times umclients are informing direction of careand not taking clinical recommendationsmedical recommendations and that sort ofthing and it feels like it's uhdisruptive to outcomes now sittingin the parent seat in this regard whenum and certainly in the harm reductionprinciple sort of way whensomebody chooses to do something even ifit's against the grain of the clinicalrecommendationat least they're doing something and ithink you know families and treatmentcenters and cultures really lean intothat that at least there's somedirection about that care butfor me i feel like it's important forthis industry to sort ofbring back that energy a little bit andsort of take back that powerbecause we are the professionals um inthe way that we understand addiction souhjust curious in that regard jason willstart with youwhat is your experience around likeresistance to the directionof care and what do you see through thatso i mean here's what ithink you're asking brandon is like thedirection of careum not just being directional but notskipping steps alongthe path is that kind of what you'retalking about tooyeah not asking your questions yeahquestions back at menot not skipping steps but takingseriously so sometimes you get it youknow of courseindividuals get into addiction treatmentthey spend 90 days in it and they'reexhausted with clinical careor whatever the case might be and theywant something fresh and new or believethey have the tools and assets to dosomething otherwisebut it seems like there's an ignoring ofclinical recommendations as they happengreat question i have a metaphor uh justfor clintonyeah for me yeah for you uh because iknow how you love metaphori do umwhen noah my son was going to that ishis real name by the way he's not aclient rightum when he the summer before he's goingto kindergarten heactually broke his leg his tibiaand um and he had to get a cast all theway upuh to well his hip reallyand he had to kind of get around on itand thenum the doctor said he'd figure out howto get around without itwithout uh any help and he did he didn'tneed crutches he was too small for thathe juststarted figuring it out and clump...

How to attract – Go deeply into your purposeCreate an engaging and purposeful culture75% of the workforce will be millennials by 2025. Millennials say that culture and learning is more important than pay.Millennials want to connect to a “Purposeful” CultureFocus your actions and conversations on (1) why you are in business, (2) what do you do as company that connects to the purpose, (3) how does your company make a difference, and (4) how does an individual at your company make a differenceHow to do this: Create a Brand Purpose Sheet with a Visual of what your company stands for Who are you? Why are you here? Growing up in a family who owned businesses, Josh Fonger always knew he wanted to be an entrepreneur himself. However, there is a certain reason why he wanted to be one- he wanted to make the most money by doing the least work. It sounds great, isn’t it? He always plays with angles, discovering which way is the most efficient. After all, time is very valuable, once we spend it, we can not take it back. Now, he and his team are helping businesses to build their own systems to be sustainable. Also, they are helping individuals who would like to help other businesses win, as a certified consultant. So, if you are a small business owner who wanted to be different than the 98% of small business who fail before their five-year mark, be sure to listen to this podcast in full. On the other hand, are you one of the many people who were laid off due to the pandemic we are facing right now, or are you one of those who are looking for another hustle, or simply those who are looking to pivot to another career direction? You may have find the perfect resource! This episode gives so much value about it. Here’s What You Missed What was Josh's first career path and why he pivoted to being a business consultantWhy did Josh had negative view about business consultants, and why did he end up being oneWhy do a huge percentage of small businesses fail, and how does having systems in place makes a differenceHow to automate, delegate and delete, and why is it important for small businesses ownersWhy consider being a business consultant and how you can be one Knowledge Nuggets At first, Josh felt business consultants do not help businesses, and worse, might even ruin it. But today, he sees great value in it, after having helped thousands of businesses get back on track. Here's what he has to say about how businesses can win, and how you can win as a business consultant. [7:12] Focus on what you can control. Months ago, no one predicted about the pandemic we are facing right now. These are things that we can not control. Focus on things that you`can control like your mind, your actions, things you do for your family and your business. Regardless of the turbulent things that are happening outside, the most effective use of our time is doing good work. [14:49] Build systems for your business. Build the infrastructure with your team. This method will be more sustainable because it's based on documented systems that the team builds. [18:02] Recognize the system that are already in your business. Systems are always happening, you just need to recognize it. There is marketing system, an HR system, a sales system etc, see those as separate systems, optimize them and manage them as the CEO. [19:53] Automate, delegate, delete. In small businesses, specially with soloprenuers, having an assistant is a must. Value your time at a high price. Think of the things you constantly do, and think, is this worth my time? If the answer is no, you should decide either to automate it, delegate or delete the task. Be the leader that your business needs, and not the assistant who does all the other smaller things. [22:15] Small business often over complicate what it takes to sell. Instead of just making the sales and offers, small business sometimes think they need to put up their website, social media, branding, etc first before they could provide the value to their customers. When you're small, that can be a huge distraction. Go right to selling, to giving value, and these others will follow. [29:05] Consider being a business consultant. Everyone can do it, as an outside perspective with different knowledge and experience can do amazing work for a business who's stuck in a loop. [32:46] Do not be afraid to get started. Don't get stuck in the rut of paralysis of analysis. The best way to get started is to connect with your friends or past employees and offer your services. You may start with working free for the first client or the first few months to get connections, tons of experience, and testimonials. Whatever it takes, just start. Greetings everyone, my name is Julie Masters and welcome to another episode of Inside Influence. In which I delve into the minds of some of the world’s most fascinating influencers – or experts in influence - to get to the bottom of what it really takes to own your voice - and then amplify it to drive an industry, a conversation, a movement or a nation. Here are some questions that have been on my mind recently:Is there a science behind how and which ideas become mainstream? Could there be a formula to driving a movement through a human network - at maximum impact and speed? Is it possible to develop a framework that would predict what we pay attention to, what we ignore and what we actually act upon? And… if the answer to any of those questions was yes… then could it be used to predict some of unexpected situations (politically and culturally) - that have occurred globally?Essentially - is there something predictable here that I’m missing when it comes to who and what ideas gain the most influence. My next guest has dedicated a career to - among many other things - understanding this science. The science of human networks. In particular decoding how our position in these networks impacts the most important decisions of our lives. So why is that vital to the question of influence? Well - our networks - and where we sit in our networks - write the story of pretty much every choice we make. Traditionally these networks were the people we grew up with, the people we worshiped with and the people we worked with. However now and perhaps most influentially - they are the people, groups and platforms we spend our digital lives interacting with online. These networks make up the fabric of our lives - our identities - our choices - and everything we believe to be true. And yet - amazingly - very little is known about the science of human networks. In particular how ideas spread from one part of a network to another. A fact my next guest - Matthew O Jackson - aims to change.Matthew is the author of ‘The Human Network - How Your Social Position Determines Your Power, Beliefs, and Behaviors’. He is a Professor of Economics at Stanford University, an external faculty member of the Santa Fe Institute, and a senior fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. He is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences; a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and former Guggenheim Fellow. Having reached more than a million students via his popular online courses on social and economic networks. In today's conversation Matthew and I unpack: The digital tipping point in human revolutions - how, when and why ideas take holdWhy influence and popularity are distinctly different - and how the person with the least contacts is often the most influentialThe importance of being the primary translator - or ‘centre star’ - for your target market. How not enough people focus on the ‘halo effect for building influence - where it’s who you know rather than how many people you know that makes the differenceHow to go about identifying the most influential people within your networkAnd finally - some of the key patterns that make an idea or a movement contagiousThere is a quote by Sonia Sotomayor that Matthew uses in his book that I love: ‘Virtue in obscurity is rewarded only in Heaven. To succeed in this work you have to be known to people’.Understanding human networks is essentially that - understanding the science of becoming ‘known’. Which I would suggest, whatever work you do - is usually the key to taking it to the next level. So grab a cup of coffee, a notebook and pen and get ready for a crash course in global movements, historical figures and network based influence.Enjoy my conversation with the fascinating Matthew O Jackson. Feral is a backpacking gear store in the Denver area that was started by Jimmy Funkhouser after he decided to leave the corporate world behind to chase a passion. Fast forward just a few short years and Feral is growing to the point where they're opening a second location in the Denver area.I personally have a love-hate relationship with outdoor stores , so when I learned of what Jimmy was doing at Feral, it struck a chord with me and I knew I had to learn more. Maybe you’ve heard it before that having the right mindset is a good predictor of success. Do you believe so? Does our obsession with the myth of the lone genius cause us to miss out on opportunities for high-impact innovation? Scott Page helps us see how diverse teams repeatedly outperform not only smart individuals, but also teams of talented individuals with similar backgrounds and cognitive tools. Scott is the author of The Difference: How the Power of Diversity Creates Better Groups, Firms, Schools, and Societies, and Professor of Complex Systems, Political Science, and Economics at the University of Michigan. His findings have deep implications for what we teach students, how we evaluate employees, and how we make some of our biggest decisions. In this interview we discuss: How cognitive diversity includes how we think about the world, how we solve problems, and how we search for creative solutions How we can help others innovate by asking them to come up with adjacent possibles or ideas similar to the ones we are talking about How people who are successful in their fields accumulate skills in subtle ways over time The marked impact team diversity can have on the accuracy of its predictions How leaders can compile data on employee competencies and experiences to inform which people they place on which teams and to determine when they may need outside perspectives Why we should gather data on which team members made the most accurate predictions on the most important projects Why we want to consider the most important aspects of the work we are trying to do in order to determine which people to put on which teams Why we should ask ourselves, do we have diversity on the dimensions that matter most? If not, then find members outside of the organization who do. Given a certain competency threshold, randomness of team members may trump ability The fact that research shows we are always better off including some diversity as opposed to forming teams of all the best, most similar people Why even very small improvements due to difference accumulate in big ways over time The fact that team diversity allows us to make continual improvements How we suffer from a siren call of sameness where we want to work with and hire people who look like us, attended the same schools, and travel in the same social circles, yet those are some of the people we should most avoid when we want to solve complex problems How quants are giving us clear insights into the impact of diverse teams How complexity is driving us to work in teams yet how we are still evaluating most people in our organizations only as individuals The fact that we want both deep talent and diverse talent in our organizations and on our teams The fact that with people from only one identity group, we have a limited set of life experiences and ways of seeing the world that limits our creativity and problem-solving abilities When it comes to social policy work we want to be sure we have people in the room who can assess the policy from a multitude of perspectives and experiences Why young people should be thinking about depth and difference and the tools and skills they need to learn to demonstrate either or both What skills, tools, and behaviors are we helping young people accumulate?
