Growing into a festival favorite and opening for touring artists such as Lee Brice, Travis Tritt, John Michael Montgomery, and more, Zac has also graced some of country music's most prestigious stages, including the Midnite Jamboree at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop, featured stages at CMA Fest, and Katie Couric's TV Show in New York City for the airing of a special CMA Awards episode. Since its release, Zac's debut Nashville project has been featured in some of Spotify's top country editorials, including Wild Country, Fresh Finds, New Music Nashville, Next From Nashville, Young Nashville, and more! Zac's single, “No One,” has surpassed nearly a half-million streams on Spotify alone, reaching nearly a million across platforms. His singles have landed on CMT, ACM New Music Friday, E! News, Country Central, and in the #1 spot on Spotify's Fresh Finds and Fresh Finds: Country. Zac's vocals pair the inflection and classic country delivery reminiscent of Vince Gill with the supercharged and edgy stage presence characteristic of Keith Urban to achieve a bright new fusion that celebrates the genre's traditions while pushing toward new horizons.Support the show

Chris and Xuan join the pod to discuss artistic serendipity, co-writing, unexpected choices, and how recording choices inform genre. Veronicavon, the brainchild of songwriters Chris Hackman (Human Barbie) and Xuan Nguyen (Xuan), emerged in 2020 with a (secret) mission to explore uncharted horizons in lo-fi pop. Their universe of grainy synths, cassette-drenched drums, and warbling guitars, complemented by Nguyen's enchanting vocals, creates a wistful, playful, and instantly addictive dreamscape. Flood Magazine dubbed them "casually devastating," and their hypnotic bedroom aesthetic quickly garnered a passionate audience, with over 500k streams on Spotify in their first year. They've been featured on editorial playlists like ‘Fresh Finds', ‘Borderless', and ‘Fuzzy'. Keep a close eye on this duo, as they follow in the footsteps of alt-pop icons Men I Trust, Alvvays, and Japanese Breakfast. Human Barbie, an analog fantasy formed in 2018 by songwriter Christopher Leopold, weaves wistful pop, shoegaze, and psychedelia into a melancholy glowscape. Their debut album ‘Get a Life' (Poor Man Records, 2020) explores personal heartbreak through psychedelic pop, meticulously recorded on vintage equipment. ‘Get a Life' received acclaim from fans and critics, featuring in Brooklyn Vegan, BIRP!, Indie Shuffle, KCRW, Buzzbands.la, and Spotify playlists like Undercurrents, IRL ANGEL, and Fresh Finds. The album was a top seller on Bandcamp, with songs used in commercials, including a Facebook radio ad and DISCO's 2022 SXSW mixtape. Inspired by its success, Leopold crafted the patient and expansive EP ‘no worries' in a Baltimore warehouse, channeling 90's-era shoegaze nostalgia. We had the pleasure of interviewing carbae over Zoom video! carobae, the moniker of Nashville writer, artist and producer, Caroline Baker, released her debut album scared to go to sleep, due out now via too drunk for a tuesday records / STEM. Recent single, “he'll never know” starts off with carobae's acoustic guitar strumming to her aching ethereal vocals speaking to an old lover about past issues that are of no concern now that she's in a better place b/w the soft loud chorus to the very dark “stab my back.” “he'll never know” is completely written and produced by carobae herself. In the simplest form, “he'll never know” is about freedom from who I'd been in past relationships because now I've found someone who doesn't need me to change who I am or my needs for their own. I wrote and produced this song alone a little over two years ago when I had done a lot of personal growth and realization that I deserved to be with someone who didn't treat me like an afterthought or burden. I've been holding onto this song for a while now, and I'm still with who I wrote it about - he's eve playing drums on the record. In the past I've released a good amount of music about one-sided relationships and not feeling like I've been enough, and “he'll never know” coming out now feels like the perfect follow up to those old stories I've told. I think everyone needs to hear that there's love out there that you don't have to bend over backwards for and that you deserve simply by just existing. – carobaescared to go to sleep's tracklist is comprised of the indie pop singer-songwriter confessions from the heart, with candid and colorful songs written and produced solely by carobae as well as songs co-written and co-produced with Brandon Shoop (sophie cates, Quinn XCII), Sean Kennedy (UPSAHL, Role Model, Nessa Barrett), Lauren Mandel (LØLØ, TALK, Maggie Lindemann, MOTHICA), Raziel (Siiickbrain, Poutyface, Slush Puppy) and Megan Redmond (Taylor Edwards, Charlotte Sands, Taela). With this single and prior singles, title track “scared to go to sleep” b/w “if I don't leave the house, “till the day i ___” b/w “every time i close my eyes,” which was included in Consequence's “Song of the Week” and “dead ends/happy endings,” carobae released b-sides that complement the tone and theme of each single. With the release of “scared to go to sleep,” carobae launched new merch items, releasing “behind the song” videos on her YouTube showing fans how she produces and writes each song, and giving fans “restless pages” designed as an activity book to be done while one is listening to the new songs. scared to go to sleep is a shift from carobae's relationship/heartbreak songs fans are familiar with, showing them a new kind of heartbreak sound – heartbreak from the world. carobae first started releasing her own music in 2019 through a handful of EPs starting with songs from 3am, followed by The Longest Year: Part One in 2020 and in 2021 she dropped The Longest Year: Part Two. These early releases earned her raves from NYLON, Ones to Watch and Alternative Press. Along the way, she's garnered over 40 MILLION streams on Spotify, who featured her on a billboard in downtown Nashville and featured her songs on numerous playlists including New Music Friday, Fresh Finds, Fresh & Chill, Indie Pop, and more. As broadcast November 29, 2022 with perfect attendance! Tonight we pay tribute to the late, great George Harrison, who passed on this date 21 years ago. Obviously one of the understated members of the Fab Four, he nonetheless had a huge presence and his career after the band broke up left a trail of massive influence on the music world. Kat Bass is back on the gig in studio for this evening's showcase, with a great deal of super highlights on a very strong playlist. Tunes from serpentwithfeet, Jadu Heart, Haunter, and Gwak Tae Poong definitely added shine to the stage tonight, so do check!#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)George Harrison – Let It Downmeija – How You Likeapril june – making out at the cemeteryEli Smart – Baby BenzingJulia Pratt – Odysseyserpentwithfeet – The Hands Part II (33:50)Peach Tree Rascals - Yesterday Park Soeun - About everything Owell Mood - Vanishing CatsJadu Heart - Freedom Vox Rea - Julia Elvis Depressedly - In That Sound Part III (61:16)Cheon Jinwoo - 여름좀비 (Summer Zombie)Haunter - Voodoo Trailer Mazey Haze - I feel Like A Child Ethel Cain - famous last words (an ode to eaters) Woo - Repeat Marni - Fragile Part IV (92:39)Ian Frandsen - Westcoast Cowboy Dayglow & Endel - Then It All Goes Away (Dancing) Beach Novels - undress GLOSSER - Movies Ducktails - Jack O Lantern Gwak Tae Poong - Memory
As broadcast November 21, 2022 with plenty of Shondells magic and mania in tow! Tonight we mark this date in 1987 when Billy Idol bumped Tiffany off the top of the proverbial tree at #1, which is one of those things that just goes on & on. What is remarkable is that both artists had #1 hits with covers of previous hits by Tommy James & The Shondells (who you cannot escape & live forever). Great new tunes to cover in the first hour with a stellar album from Weyes Blood out Friday called And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow, then we had lots of new singles and album announcements from Tennis, Andy Shauf, Cigs After Sex, and that also goes on & on. To finish the first hour, we highlighted FKJ's upcoming performance in Seoul at KBS Music Hall, which all goes down Monday Nov 28. Part 3 as per usual we are once again Poppin Off, with a highlight on the World Cup anthem collab between Nicki Minaj & MALUMA to start, then we had big new joints from Chance The Rapper, JP Saxe, and Dermot Kennedy to highlight as well. Part 4 of course we're taste testing our Fresh K Cuts, or new indie & bubbling under K-pop from right here on the peninsula, with SURL, Gwak Tae Poong, and ilbum being highlights there to wrap it up tight.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Tiffany – I Think We're Alone NowPhantom Youth – Stay & RunChristine & The Queens – Tu sais ce q'uil me fautHoney Dijon – La Femme FantastiqueTennis – One Night with the ValetBenny Sings – The World Part II (30:03)Cigarettes After Sex – PistolJoesef – Just Come Home with Me TonightPhoebe Bridgers – So Much WineAndy Shauf – Wasted On YouWeyes Blood – Children of the EmpireFKJ – Us (A Color Show)FKJ & Masego – Tadow Part III (64:00)Nicki Minaj with MALUMA & Myriam Fares – Tukoh TakaChance The Rapper feat King Promise – YAH KnowDermot Kennedy – One LifeFana Hues – floatCautious Clay – Lip ServiceJP Saxe – The Good PartsKelela – On The Run Part IV (93:35)ilbum – GoodbyeLim Haeum feat Wildberry – See you my friendHEEO – Destiny of ChallengeDIFF feat Nam Ji In – MASIJASURL – Aroundsweetch feat sooon – a u r o r aGwak Tae Poong – 후일담 Memory
As broadcast November 14, 2022 with plenty of concert memories for the start of the work week. For anyone that was up in Seoul this weekend to see either Big Thief's first concert in Korea or Khruangbin's performance the same night, you all saw amazing shows. Big Thief's performance at Rolling Hall was something else, with the glitches and hiccups along the way somehow making it even better. Of course, it's Monday and that means all new music on this show aside from the upcoming shows, and we had a lot of great stuff drop last Friday with Sharon Van Etten, Chiiild, Jordana, and SAULT providing the big fireworks in hour one along with a highlight of PREP's show this Friday up in Seoul. Part 3 we were Poppin' Off as usual, and big new joints and albums from Wizkid, Rihanna, Stormzy, and The Boss added the big spotlights. For part 4 and our Fresh K Cuts, there wasn't a lot of info on many of the artists, but great new tunes to check out and a couple albums to spotlight as well.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Big Thief – Notflowerovlove – Out For The WeekendJordana – You're in the WayNana Lourdes – Thinking About YouSAULT – LionChiiild – Bon Voyage Part II (30:36)Ging – We're Here, My DearSharon Van Etten – When I DieChristian Leave – SuperstarRunner – Bike AgainHyd – Only Living For YouPREP – As It WasPREP – Who's Got You Singing Again Part III (59:57)Wizkid feat Ayra Starr – 2 SugarRauw Alejandro – LEJOS DEL CIELORihanna – Born AgainStormzy – FirebabeJulia Michaels – Sorry Me TooMahalia – Bag of YouBruce Springsteen – Turn Back The Hands of Time Part IV (90:51)TONE – news from youYeoeun – Lonely NightMoim – Woo~deulrejang ft Sun the Lily – YEPPIHAD feat Nieah – GoodbyeCOLL!N feat Khakii – VrVrZitten – Now is

We had the pleasure of interviewing Danny Dwyer over Zoom video!Hailing from St. Louis, MO, Danny is an LA-based singer/songwriter & producer whose genreless music straddles indie rock, alternative, pop, and everything in between. He grew up learning jazz and playing in punk bands which eventually led him to college in Los Angeles where he studied music and started working on his solo artist project.Following a break-up in 2017, Danny turned to writing as he released his first song ‘What You Want' as part of a school assignment. Mixing contemporary R&B with his love of indie music, the song's early success inspired him to pursue his solo artist project. A genre chameleon, Danny seamlessly straddles different musical styles and sounds, bringing in diverse musical influences from his childhood and development. Recent collaborators include Benny Sings, Billy Lemos, Roy Blair, Ritt Momney, Magdalena Bay, RAC, Maria Isabel, Kllo, Maude Latour, Chloe Lilac, MILK, Marcos G, Jelani Aryeh, Brandon Banks and more.Danny's music has been featured in playlists such as Spotify's Lorem, Mellow Morning, Mellow Mood, Fresh Finds and Alternative R&B and Apple's INDIY, Day One and more. Danny has also received press from outlets such as Pigeons & Planes, OnesToWatch and Office amongst others. Mortal Kombat” is the fifth single off the anti-pop artist and producer's upcoming debut double EP, Losers, an emotional portrayal of liberated youth. The EP is a love letter and a goodbye note to his rural stomping grounds of the Midwest. “I used to feel the need to exploit as much as possible from any opportunity,” Danny says of the way LA twisted him. “Now I want to work on my bike and make sense of where I come from and where I am. All of these things I've compartmentalized for so long are now colliding.” The result is a collection of coming-of-age songs that have one foot in Friday Night Lights and another in Harmony Korine's Kids. As broadcast October 4, 2022 with plenty of extra triggeration for your indignation. Tonight we mark 52 years since Janis Joplin joined the infamous 27 Club, as the famed leading lady of Big Brother & The Holding Company was found dead in an LA hotel after showing up late to wrap her final album. After that, huge new tunes out this week on the indie vibe, with plenty that maybe shouldn't be played on Tuesdays since the artists are massive commodities, but with the Monday holiday we had to cover as much as we could with the missing chapter. New tunes from LCD Soundsystem, Paramore, Men I Trust, Stevie Zita, and Lunar Isles are all in there with a lot of other quality, so we recommend diving in head first!#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Big Brother & The Holding Co – I Need A Man To LoveFrankie Cosmos – FOOFRaavi – no bodiesLCD Soundsystem – new body rhumbaLunar Isles – Unwindinghanbee feat woo! – Kawakawa Part II (33:17)Men I Trust - Billie Toppy Paramore - This Is Why BUNGALOW - Seperation AnxietyBOYO - Vampire Girl Rosa Linn - Snap Joshua Bassett - LA Part III (60:20)Mazy Haze - The Weight of the Weekend Stevie Zita - Silver Surfer Orchid Mantis - Lucid Dreams Blue Canopy - Stranger At The Door MorMor - Chasing Ghosts Echowave - Hidden Spaces Part IV (91:04)Old S Resort - Tribal Maze Honeywhip - Tag Along Polycool - Unlike You Melby - Hammers Fevre - Where Your Going Tide Rider ft. As broadcast September 27, 2022 with a giant shrine built for St. Quincy of Jones. Tonight we highlight just a tiny fraction of the amazing work Quincy Jones has done outside the studio for charitable and progressive causes, then get into all the new stuff that's a bit off the radar, a tad askance of the mersh dogs, and/or a tidbit too weird for your boomer uncle who's otherwise a pretty sweet guy. Our new indie for this week includes tunes from all over the map, with highlights being stuff from Big Scary, Magdalena Bay, Unusual Demont, and Alvvays amongst the very solid field. #feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Quincy Jones – The DudeMorning Silk – How You Do ItSofie Royer – Love ParkBig Scary – Asking Right.com – SometimesKainalu & MUNYA – Inhibitions/IntuitionsPart II (34:50)Daylgow - Second Nature Magdalena Bay - Unconditional Jhnovr - Human Natureflatheadstanley - crash n burn Yellow Days - When Morning ComesFIG - Pair of You Part III (65:51)JVKE - this is what falling out of love feels like Milky Chance - Troubled Man Space Equator - Sapphire Emotional Oranges & Unusual Demont - Cardigan THAMA - Needles Believers - Endless Choice Part IV (95:54)Alvvays - Belinda Says Anna of the North - NobodyCharlotte Lawrence - Morning Mind Shrine - Dance Around the Truth The Ways of Seeing - The Other Side of Summer Djo - End of Beginning
As broadcast September 26, 2022 with new tunes aplenty in tow. Tonight we mark a date that a very important live album was recorded at London's Palladium, which became Marvin Gaye's iconic album from 1977. We also noted some interesting facts about the only studio recording from the album "Got To Give It Up," which appeared right at the end of the live album. After that, it's huge new music all the way to the end with the exception of Yumi Zouma, who are in the spotlight for our upcoming concerts, as they do their first live on Wednesday up in Seoul at Rolling Hall. New cuts galore from Channel Tres, Alex G, The 1975, Sure Sure, and Broken Bells to dig into first hour, and then we had some big new pop tunes in part 3 with Khalid, Sam Smith, and 5SOS all out with new joints. To finish properly in part 4, we covered some of the notable new & recent Korean indie that dropped this month, with Han All, GAYUN, and HANRORO being highlights.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Marvin Gaye – Got To Give It UpMorMor – Chasing GhostsDivino Nino – EcstasyChannel Tres – No LimitNilufer Yanya – Rid of MeSleater-Kinney feat Courtney Barnett – Words and GuitarMonet Ngo – Summer WindPart II (35:21)Alex G – ImmunityThe 1975 – All I Need To HearSure Sure – Lonely OneVieux Farka-Toure & Khruangbin – DiarabiBroken Bells – Love On The RunYumi Zouma – Give It HellYumi Zouma – Where The Light Used To Lay Part III (65:48)Khalid – SatelliteFLO – Not My JobSam Smith feat Kim Petras – UnholyQ – Stereo DriverSiR – Nothing Ever MattersMaya Hawke - Luna Moth5 Seconds of Summer – Bad Omens Part IV (96:50)BAMSOOSUNG – Swimming In StarsHan All – You Know EverythingEntoy feat suru – Blue Mood*GAYUN – DOONGDOONGHANRORO – Don't Be Afraid To FallJOO SEOL OK – I wanted to be lovedAble – How long will it take to forget you?

We had the pleasure of interviewing Casey Baer over Zoom video!Rising LA pop artist Casey Baer has released her debut EP, ‘Not That Girl,' a 6-song collection of sassy but sensitive pop-rock, which takes you on a journey through heartbreak, personal challenges and, ultimately, self-growth. To celebrate the release, Casey has unveiled the music video for the EP's latest single “Take It Personal,” which Hollywood Life called “moment of personal and creative growth for Casey” and “just the beginning for this rising rockstar.” Casey is a natural performer who has been onstage since she was 6, and continued pursuing music even while she battled anxiety. Her songs often contrast sad topics with hard-hitting beats and ultra-catchy hooks. Casey has garnered favorable comparisons to Tate McRae, Avril Lavigne, Madison Beer, and Olivia Rodrigo. To date, Casey has built up a wildly loyal and engaged following on TikTok (352k followers) and Instagram (180k) while amassing several million streams as an independent artist. She has been championed by outlets like Billboard, Radio Disney, Just Jared, iHeartRadio, and PopularTV, among many others. Her songs have been featured on buzzed-about Spotify playlists including SALT, Sad Hour, Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Pop, Apple, New In Pop, and Best In Rock. The 'Not That Girl' EP was executive produced by singer/songwriter Sophie Simmons. In addition, Casey, has worked with world-renowned producers such as Grammy-nominated Mike Fatkin who produced Casey's recently released single, “Never I Have Ever, ” as well as Louis Schoorl, Jonathan Asperil, Max Thulin, Rasmus Budny, Selena Dosan, and Alex Veronneau. After appearing on UniversalNBC's The Voice, Jackie fearlessly packed her bags and moved to Los Angeles, not knowing anyone who lived there. A coincidental meeting introduced her to Vanessa Wheeler, artist and guitarist professionally named VAVÁ and bassist/producer Francisco Ojeda, leading to an explosive debut single in 2020 “Someday”. “Someday” speaks to the generation of lost millennials who are really, really just trying their best and landed on Spotify's Fresh Finds, New Music Friday Denmark, Music for a Workday, Billboard, Audemars Piguet's and Chani Nicholas' Cosmic playlists.
