A recent study proposes a new model for the evolution of intelligent life, which challenges the long-standing "hard steps" theory that the emergence of intelligent life is an exceedingly rare event due to a series of improbable evolutionary milestones. A team led by postdoctoral researcher Dan Mills from the University of Munich suggests that the development of intelligent life is a natural outcome of planetary evolution. They argue that Earth's environment underwent sequential "windows of habitability," periods when conditions became favorable for complex life to emerge. (Past Drake Award winner Jason Wright is a co-author on the study.) The study emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between astrophysics and geobiology to understand the evolution of life. Join planetary astronomer Franck Marchis in an in-depth discussion with Dr. Mills about why intelligent life may be common and how this could affect our search for life beyond Earth. (Recorded live 24 April 2025.)
In this episode, host Susan Mathews is in conversation with Kathryn Yusoff, Professor of Inhuman Geography at Queen Mary University of London. Her transdisciplinary research addresses the colonial afterlives of geology and race as a site of planetary transformation and social change. Her research is published in A Billion Black Anthropocenes or None (University of Minnesota Press, 2019) and Geologic Life: Inhuman intimacies and the Geophysics of Race (Duke University Press, 2024). The conversation centres around the science of geology and its epistemic and field practices. In her book Geologic Life, Yusoff notes that geology, which emerged in the late fifteenth through nineteenth centuries as a Eurocentric field of scientific inquiry, was a form of earth writing riven by systemic racism, complicit in the building of colonial worlds and the destruction of existing earths. The origin stories of earth and scripts of race are natal twins. Both mineralogical material and the subjugated person, such as on racial lines, were categorized as ‘inhuman'. She approaches this work not through a linear historical geography but through undergounds (as footnote, mine, appendix, subtending strata, and stolen suns) that reveal subterranean currents. Part of the task is to bring this whiteness down to earth through counter-gravities such as insurgent geology, non-fossil histories and questioning stratification. Broadly, Black, Brown, and Indigenous subjects whose location is the rift have an intimacy with the earth that is unknown to the structural position of whiteness. This inhuman intimacy represents another kind of geo-power: the tactics of the earthbound. So, whether it be through growing food, or making music such as the Blues, or the earth as a revolutionary compatriot, there have always been persistent resistances against these racialized relations. Yusoff speaks of the paradigm of the mine, which encapsulates this presumption of extraction. She speaks of how material value is stabilized in the present from skyscrapers to palm plantations, but both inhuman mineral “resources” and subjugated labouring people are relegated to the underground. The mine has also inspired carceral forms such as the prison complex. For a more reparative geophysics, we need to embrace practices that don't start from the division between bios and geos and actually understand the earth and minerals as part of a kin relationship with a more expansive understanding of how the human comes into being. The separation between biology and geology is purely a kind of historical effect of disciplines and disciplining practices. These changes are even more important in the Anthropocene, where we have what she terms as a “white man's overburden” with tech bros or predominantly White Western men deciding the future of Earth. Geobiology is a relational affair, and we need to see geology as a praxis of struggle and earth as iterative and archiving of those struggles. Geobiology - Richard Benishai was born in 1943. Having lived in France and the United States and having worked in different countries from Europe, the Middle East and Far East, he now lives in Israel. His experience as an Engineer in electronics has allowed for great professional autonomy, for accuracy and scientific rigor, needed in the analysis of complex problems. Fate has brought him in contact with people and situations, in order to reveal his abilities in working with energies; as a first step: in the field of healing, in the knowledge of paranormal phenomena and in bio energy. Geobiology, as a discipline intended to improve the lives of human beings, was his opportunity to develop skills and improve a number of techniques and procedures related to this field. Since 2000, Richard Benishai devotes much of his time to study and research in this area. Co-author of publications related to Geobiology, he has already intervened in countries such as Côte d'Ivoire, Israel, France, Spain and Germany.
The origin of all complex life has been traced back 1.6 billion years as new molecular fossil records have discovered the fatty stains that our ancient single celled ancestors have left behind. Jochen Brocks, Professor of Geobiology at Australian National University, discusses the significance of these unique biological signatures. One billion years later, to a mere 462 million years ago, life on Earth was experiencing a boom of new species but we have very few fossil records to understand this era. Now, palaeontologists Dr Joe Botting and Dr Lucy Muir have found the most abundant deposit of soft bodied fossils from this time in a tiny Welsh quarry. Next, to the relatively recent past, 350,000 years ago, where remains found in a South African cave suggest that an extinct species of human, Homo Naledi, buried their dead. But Mike Petraglia, Professor of Human Evolution and Prehistory at the Max Planck Institute, doubts these claims. And in the modern day, the fungi which have colonised our soil for millions of years are still helping us clean up the atmosphere. Professor of Plant-Soil Processes at the University of Sheffield, Katie Field, tells us about the astounding amount of carbon captured by the fungus beneath our feet. How can tiny bacteria change the entire planet? Greenland is beautiful and covered in glaciers, but they are turning more and more dark and black. Black algae is tinting glaciers in Greenland darker, and causing changes in our climate. The more our climate changes, the easier it is for algae to thrive in glacier runoff and change the colours of the glaciers. Algae can survive in strange locations on earth, what can that teach us about microorganisms across the solar system? James A. Bradley, Christopher B. On today's episode, we get existential with Peter Ward, a paleontologist and astrobiologist who studies life on Earth – where it came from, how it ends, and what it means for us. Peter is a professor at the University of Washington and the Sprigg Institute of Geobiology at the University of Adelaide, as well as an award-winning author and adviser to the Microbes Mind Forum. Peter delves into some of the greatest threats to human civilization – such as the melting of the ice caps, asteroids, and nuclear war – and explains why we as a species need to evolve our intelligence to find solutions to these pressing problems. He talks about mass extinction and what it might look like for our planet, the science fiction movies that come closest to predicting the future, and the prospect of life on other planets. //Looking to level up or enter a new field? In today's episode we're talking to Dr. Paula Welander, an Associate Professor in the Earth Systems Science Department at Stanford University. Although she is now a tenured professor at Stanford, this certainly wasn't the plan from the start. Paula's parents immigrated from Mexico in the hopes of giving their family a better life, and they really encouraged her to go to college and to pursue one of two careers, medicine or law. So Paula went to Occidental College with medicine in mind, however that path shifted when she worked in a microbiology lab and realized that research like that could actually be a career. Paula has been working with microbes more or less ever since (although with a short hiatus that we talk about in the episode). After getting her undergrad at Occidental College, Paula worked for a few years (this is where the non-microbial work comes in) and then got her PhD in microbiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with Bill Metcalf. She then did a postdoc at MIT, where she was co-advised by Dianne Newman (who later moved to CalTech) and Roger Summons. After going through three cycles of faculty applications during her postdoc, Paula got her current position at Stanford Earth, where she studies geologically relevant microbes. Some of the things we cover in this episode: How can you use molecular biology and microbiology to understand geology and the earth's history? What are archaea? The two body problem (aka having a partner who is also an academic) Having kids in grad school Some pros and cons of taking time off after undergrad How to come up with good questions Practicing for faculty interviews The best and worst parts of Paula's PhD The excitement of adding new knowledge to the world Get in touch with Paula: Twitter Welander Lab Website email: welander@stanford.edu Get in touch with Steph: Twitter Get in touch with the podcast: Twitter Facebook Instagram Email: rootstostempodcast@gmail.com Website: rootstostempodcast.podbean.com

Flashback episode with incredible Asher Packman who shares a powerful conversation about men's wellbeing. Asher introduces openness and connection into the lives of more men. When it comes to wellbeing practices it is heavily dominated by women. Go to any retreat, yoga class, wellness seminar, mediation event… and you will see that the majority of people in that room are females, and we often wonder what males are doing to look after their mental health. Truth is, the answer for many men unfortunately, is not a lot… and due to the idea that men are generally not as open emotionally as women, it is probably them who need these self-care practices the most.Asher Is Founder and Director, The Fifth Direction a purpose built space that empowers its members to turn inward with meditation and movement. He is also the President, Meditation Australia, and the Founder of a men's circle called, Warrior Within. Asher is also a regular wellbeing speaker at conferences & retreats and contributes to numerous websites and publications. After a series of significant events in Ashers life, including the diagnosis of a progressive rare blood cancer, it led Asher to shift gears from a very successful corporate career and focus on health and wellbeing. Now a qualified mindset and leadership coach he is a certified HeartMath and Wim Hof Method instructor, as well as a KRI-certified Kundalini Yoga instructor, and has qualifications in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), geobiology, epigenetics and the social psychology of sport.
In this episode I talk with Rory Duff about Earth energies, the grail, and much more exploring his work on these topics. Rory is one of the leading pioneers in the World in the understanding of Leylines and Earth Energies and how their frequencies can be highly beneficial as well as dangerous. Today, we're going to be discussing the Ediacaran fauna. This is a faunal assemblage that came before the Cambrian Explosion (535-525 Mya) but is less well known. Unlike the Cambrian Explosion- which saw the creation of most of the phyla we know today- the Ediacaran biota is much less familiar. It also appears to be quite confusing in terms of what category its constituent organisms fall under... Sources for this episode: 1) Campbell, N. A., Urry, L. A., Cain, M. L., Wasserman, S. Guest Donald Prothero joins us to discuss the common tactics and thinking of science deniers and the implications of this assault on science for our future. The denial of scientific realities in issues like global warming, creationism, vaccine safety, and AIDS, is growing in our society. Not only is our acceptance of scientific "inconvenient truths" under attack, but even scientists themselves have been threatened. Donald R. Prothero is Professor of Geology at Occidental College and Lecturer in Geobiology at the California Institute of Technology. He is the author, co-author, editor, or co-editor of 25 books, over 200 scientific papers and a number of popular books including, most recenly, "Catastrophes!: Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Tornadoes, and Other Earth-Shattering Disasters" and "Evolution: What the Fossils Say and Why It Matters". He is on the editorial board of Skeptic magazine and has been featured on several television documentaries, including episodes of Paleoworld (BBC), Prehistoric Monsters Revealed (History Channel), Entelodon and Hyaenodon (National Geographic Channel), and Walking with Prehistoric Beasts (BBC). Shermer and Prothero discuss: flat earth theories and how we know the earth is round, hollow earth theories and how we know it’s not hollow, the return of Ptolemy and an earth-centered solar system model (and how we know it’s wrong), how science deals with anomalies, fringe claims, and challenges to the orthodoxy, whether humans were in the San Diego area 130,000 years ago, how consensus is achieved in science (and the messy road to get there), from Newton to Einstein and what ultimately determines if a theory is true or not, flood myths and what causes such stories to arise in some cultures but not others, catastrophism vs. uniformitarianism in geology, the age of the earth and how geologists determined it, the myth of Atlantis and what Plato really intended with his account, biblical accounts of the world and how we should read the book as literature, not science, how science won the evolution-creation wars, science denial and how to deal with it, and the real-world consequences of denying science. Dr. Donald R. Prothero has taught geology for over 33 years as Professor of Geology at Occidental College in Los Angeles, and Lecturer in Geobiology at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, and currently at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA. He earned M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees in geological sciences from Columbia University in 1982. He is currently the author, co-author, editor, or co-editor of 33 books and over 250 scientific papers, including five leading geology textbooks and three trade books as well as edited symposium volumes and other technical works. He is on the editorial board of Skeptic magazine, and in the past has served as an associate or technical editor for Geology, Paleobiologyand Journal of Paleontology. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America, the Paleontological Society, and the Linnaean Society of London, and has also received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Science Foundation. In 1991, he received the Schuchert Award of the Paleontological Society for the outstanding paleontologist under the age of 40. He has also been featured on several television documentaries, including episodes of Paleoworld (BBC), Prehistoric Monsters Revealed (History Channel), Entelodon and Hyaenodon (National Geographic Channel) and Walking with Prehistoric Beasts (BBC).

Rory Duff began his working life as a Geologist on the gold mines in Africa. After a moment of synchronicity and learning about the Austrian mystic Rudolf Steiner, he moved back to the UK where he pursued a career in Coaching and Training. In the last 5 years, he switched to researching Geobiology – the study of how the Earth affects life.Rory is one of the leading pioneers in the World in the understanding of Leylines and Earth Energies and how their frequencies can be highly beneficial as well as dangerous. He came up with the first-ever classification of Earth Energies which is now used by thousands of people around the World. He has mapped more of these lines around the World than anyone else by a long way and he was the first to fully map all the major energy lines that could be found over an area of 200 square kilometers – something that took him an hour a day for six years.Rory was also the first person to rediscover the most powerful lines in the World – The Emperor Dragons. It was these studies that led him to find the link with the Knights Templar and their most sacred location. In addition to that, he is the first person to ever offer up a viable scientific hypothesis as to what these energies are and how they are generated within the Earth and how this links with the Universal consciousness. This is explained in an easy to understand manner in his seminars.Following up on synchronicities, he came across some practically unknown Templar chapels with some exceptionally strange symbols that had never before been deciphered. This led him to produce his highly successful documentary Holy Grail Found and the popular books Grail Found and Grail Bound. The latter resulted on following up further synchronicity about a common link running through some of the most significant prophecies in the World. His mission in life now is to stay on his vocational path. He says that this seems, at the moment, to be leading him to raise awareness of the main Energy lines and to help get people gathering at their key sacred sites all around the country four times a year. These are the harmony times when all the Earth Energies move at the same frequency. He now considers that group prayer and meditation on these harmony times is intimately linked with the rise of the divine feminine and a coming rebalancing. He now senses that this is perhaps the one and only thing left for humanity in order to overcome the problems in the World’s which, when we succeed, will allow us to usher in to a new Golden Age – just as many of the prophecies predict.Rory has been married for 31 years and has two sons in their late 20’s. He and his wife live near the city of Bath in the UK.

In this podcast, she discusses Some of the symbiotic relationships in these ocean depths, from the farming yeti crab that grow their own bacteria food to the archaea and bacteria symbionts that she studies; How these microorganisms sequester methane and why that's important; and What this has to do with discovering life on Mars. Victoria Orphan is the James Irvine Professor of Environmental Science and Geobiology and the director of the Center for Environmental Microbial Interactions at Caltech. She studies the ecology of microbes and the minerals and elements that they cycle. This means utilizing tools of microbiology to understand how these microorganism function. Because she focuses on deep ocean systems, these interactions are often between undomesticated organisms that exist in extreme environments like hydrothermal vents. She's trying to learn how they influence the cycling of geological systems and elements like carbon and methane. She discusses some of her ventures into the ocean, describing the curious yeti crabs she observed—crabs that have a symbiosis with oxidizing bacteria and wave their arms over sulfur-rich vents to feed these bacteria that coats their arms and that they then eat. A lot of her focus, however, is on the microscale ecology of what is happening in these spaces. This includes microorganisms that are involved in the transfer of methane. She describes her study of a microbial symbiosis that is occurring between an archaea and a bacteria that use sulfates from seawater, removing methane. She expounds on the challenges of such a study and how this may help understand what exactly ends up in the atmosphere and causes warming. Dr. Ibrahim Karim, founder of Biogeometry https://www.biogeometry.ca/ What started off as an occasional gathering of friends grew over twenty years into a weekly pivot in the lives of many people of different ages, religions, professions, social background and nationalities. Unstructured lectures and dialogues about almost any subject, where Dr. Karim believed that he has learned as much as he has taught his holistic approach which he calls the BioGeometrical Way; a new and expanded world view; equally scientific and spiritual in essence. In his own words “to be truly holistic it must incorporate anything and everything”. BioGeometrical shapes interact with Earth’s energy to produce a balancing effect on all energy levels of biological systems. Research into shapes of body organs led to the discovery of the relationship between of organ function, energy pattern, and shape. These patterns called “BioSignatures” produce, through resonance, a balance of energy and immunity that support orthodox and alternative medicine. An Architect by profession; graduate of the renowned F.I.T. Zurich, Switzerland; with BA/MA,and D.Sc. in Tourist Planning. He occasionally teaches as visiting professor of Architecture at several universities. Dr. Karim owns: Alemara Consultants Architecture firm founded by his father Dr. Sayed Karim in the1930’s, who is the main pioneer of modern architecture in the Middle East and author of several books on the Culture behind the greatness of Ancient Egypt. While still a postgraduate student in Switzerland, a chance meeting with Dr. Mahmoud Mahfouz led to an intellectual, philosophical conversation on hospital design and other topics. Dr. Mahfouz, later Minister of Health, appointed Dr. Ibrahim Karim as the youngest Consultant in the Egyptian Government, in order to bring innovative thinking to his Ministry. Dr. Karim worked in integrated health planning and developed new design concepts of flexibility and expansion for health projects in addition to working in the USAID project of Urban Health Development. In 1976 he was a consultant to Dubai’s ministry of health and is, since over twenty years, a member of the British Royal Society Of Health, and founding member of the Imhotep society in Egypt for scientific research in the alternative sciences. In 1982 Dr. Karim was a consultant to the Minister of Culture, the late Mohammed Radwan and e put the initial concept for the new Museum of Civilization for which the international appeal for funding was launched by UNESCO. Later on, as a consultant to the Minister of Tourism in 1985, he did the first tourist planning for the Red Sea and Western Sinai coastal areas. As a consultant to the Minister of Scientific Research in 1990e was the principle investigator of the environmental pilot project on the Mahmoudiya Canal in Alexandria and headed a committee at the National Research Center to research the effect of geometrical shapes on biological functions. He patented the first BioGeometrical shapes in 1993, others followed. He received an award at the international congress for inventors in 1998. His work as an architect includes several hospitals, residential and scientific projects, as well as tourist resorts on the Red Sea. While renovating the museum of Ancient Egyptian medicine in 1972, Dr. Fawzi Soleiman Sowiha, the director of the museum, introduced him to the science of Radiesthesia and with him he met Dr. Khalil Messiha, who introduced him to the French system of Physical Radiesthesia and its Ancient Egyptian origins. In France, at the Maison de Radiesthesie he acquired original books and instruments, those of the pioneers of this science. Fluent in many languages, Dr. Karim was able to combine modern concepts of physics, Harmonics, Perception, as well asPythagorean theories to develop a new “Physics of Quality” and based on it, a science of “qualitative” measurement: Egyptian Radiesthesia. It became the main research tool in his subtle energy research, supported by biofeedback and Bio-Imaging devices. Taking this research into Architecture, Geobiology and Building Biology, he found the basis on which he developed his new science of BioGeometry. Dr. Karim gives seminars and workshops, in Europe, America, and the Middle East. He is regularly on radio and television (e.g. Reuters, CNN). He had his own daily television program: “God grant me knowledge”, during the holy fasting month of Ramadan, at the turn of the Millennium, on Egyptian Satellite Channel. Since March 2002 he has a weekly one-hour program on the Egyptian ‘El Mehwer’ satellite channel. He did research in BioGeometrical organic planting with Prof. Peter Mols of the University of Wageningen in Holland and conducted a workshop to find solutions to harmful Earth radiation at the Design Academy of Eindhoven. In Egypt, he joined the “National Hepatitis C Research Project” lead by the late Dr.Taha Khalifa, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of at Al-Azhar University, where he achieved significant results. These significant research results of the research were made public on air by Dr. Khalifa in a historic, often repeated, television program that included the former minister of Health, as well as prominent medical doctors, in the “Mesaha Horra” series, presented by Isaad Younis on the Orbit Satellite television channel in 1999. He is also discussing, with the governor of Alexandria, the ambitious futuristic project of the energy balance of the city. He is constantly traveling in the USA, Europe, and the Middle East, on consulting work in energy balancing of buildings.
The gang discusses two papers that complicate our understanding of some important fossils. Specifically, we focus on abiotic "stromatolites" and cryptic tool marks on bones. Also, Curt comes up with a book title, James discusses his workout regiment, and Amanda gets very excited about all things Michigan. Up-Goer Five (Curt Edition): The friends talk about things that look like something but are actually maybe something else. First, they look at things that layer on top of each other. These things that layer on top of each other were found in rocks from a long long time ago and were thought to be made from living things that eat light. However, we can also make these things that layer on top of each other with a paint can. This means that we need to watch out when we find these things that layer on top of each other a long long time ago because they may not always be made by these living things that eat light. Second, the friends look at marks on the hard parts in animals that hold them up. Some people thought the marks on the hard parts in animals that hold them up were made by people cutting those animals to pieces. However, other people say the marks on the hard parts in animals that hold them up could be made by animals with long noses who lie in water and you should never smile at. These animals that you should never smile at who jump out of the water can cut marks on the hard parts of animals that look very very much the same as the ones that come from people cutting animals to pieces. This means we need to watch out when seeing these marks because they may or may not show that people were there. References: Sahle, Yonatan, Sireen El Zaatari, and Tim D. White. Charlotte View and the School of Esoteric Healing presents the final episode of the Character Structure Series. This time Jennifer Boose and Claudia Pureco talk about the Rigid Character Structure or the Perfectionist. The so-called Character Structures, recognized in Bioenergetics and Barbara Brennan's spiritual healing methodology, are observably linked to different levels or depths of awareness of the affected people. The child feels that their creativity (sexuality) is rejected by the parent. They get the message early on that their unique qualities are not welcomed. They develop a rigid posture and suppress their emotions and feelings. The rigid personality is obsessed with being genuine and constantly fears that they are not. The rigid body type is reflected in a board straight posture. Although they often seem more balanced than the other character types, they are not letting out their feelings. Energetically, their energies remain hovering at the edge of their field while their core or true essence remains suppressed. The Character Structure Series is hosted by Jennifer Boose, who holds certifications in Spiritual Energy Healing, Past Life Regression, Life Between Lives, Spiritual Regression Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Geobiology, Sound Healing and is an Awakening Your Light Body instructor. Charlotte View and the School of Esoteric Healing proudly present the fourth episode of the Character Structure Series. On this episode Jennifer Boose (school director) talks about the Masochist Character Structure. The so-called Character Structures, recognized in Bioenergetics and Barbara Brennan's spiritual healing methodology, are observably linked to different levels or depths of awareness of the affected people. The masochist defense is developed in an environment where the parents were domineering and gave love in a conditional way. Guilt, shame, and passive-aggressive techniques were all used by the parents to control the child. The masochist character responds by withholding their love and themselves from others. They complain and focus on the negative sides of things. They tend to carry a lot of weight around -- literally and figuratively: stored fat is seen as a sign of masochistic tendencies. Energetically, the masochist sends out tendrils of negative energy that pierce the energy field of others. The Character Structure Series is hosted by Jennifer Boose, who holds certifications in Spiritual Energy Healing, Past Life Regression, Life Between Lives Spiritual Regression Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Geobiology, Sound Healing and is an Awakening Your Light Body instructor. Charlotte View and the School of Esoteric Healing proudly presents The Character Structure Series, hosted by Jennifer Boose and Claudia Pureco. Our third Episode covers the PSYCHOPATH Character Structure also known as The Controller or Leader This is the third of the 5-Part Series on Character Structure. Many of our problems stem from defenses we picked up as children. They're known as character defense structures. Barbara Brennan School of Healing identifies 5 different defense structures. The names for some of these structures come from psychiatric terminology, but their meanings here are very different from their traditional ones .... The psychopathic defense is developed somewhat later in childhood and reflects a belief that aggression is the only way to get what they want. Psychopathic character types tend to have lots of muscular development, particularly in their upper body -- a "jock" provides a good stereotype. Energetically, psychopaths send large arrows of energy up from their body and down onto whomever they're trying to intimidate. In life, the Psychopath seeks power more than pleasure. There is also a tendency to poor judgment and an inability to learn from mistakes. They usually display lack of empathy or compassion and a lack of conscious feelings of remorse or guilt. They are prone to violence. Jennifer Boose, is a Teacher of Consciousness Studies and Soul-Directed Energy Healing and the Director of a 3-year Energy Medicine Training Program. Charlotte View and the School of Esoteric Healing proudly presents The Character Structure Series, hosted by Jennifer Boose and Claudia Pureco. Our second Episode covers the Oral Character Structure This is the second of the 5-Part Series on Character Structure. Many of our problems stem from defenses we picked up as children. They're known as character defense structures. Barbara Brennan School of Healing identifies 5 different defense structures. The names for some of these structures come from psychiatric terminology, but their meanings here are very different from their traditional ones .... The oral character developed their defense during the period when they were totally dependent on their mother; the breastfeeding stage. At some point they are either abandoned by their parents or feel that they don't get enough physical or emotional nourishment. The belief of the oral is that they never have enough. Oral people tend to be thin and to jut out their heads. Energetically, orals to try to pull energy from other people because they believe they don't have enough of their own. Needs to finally feel “I am enough”. She will feel connected to the Earth plane and the nurturing love of the Divine Mother. She will begin to experience and trust in the abundance of the universe to feed her both materially and spiritually. Charlotte View, Alchemy and Energy, and the School of Esoteric Healing presents Jennifer Boose with the topic White Magic: the Benevolent, Selfless and Good. White magic or light magic has traditionally referred to the use of supernatural powers or magic for good and selfless purposes. With respect to the philosophy of left-hand path and right-hand path, white magic is the benevolent counterpart of malicious black magic. Because of its ties to traditional pagan nature worship, white magic is often also referred to as "natural magic". Some questions covered during the show are: Do you believe in white magic? If yes can you prove it? Is white magic real? Why is white magic considered evil? How can I use white magic? Why does magic exist? Magic black/white. In today's world... What is magic and what is miracle? What proof is there that magic does exist? Please call the show and bring your own questions/comments. Rev. Throughout our series "Into the Earth," we've heard how Earth science topics cross between different disciplines like geology, physics, and chemistry. This has been true for postdoctoral research associate Steven Chemtob, whose recent research looks closely at a type of rock called banded iron formations. These rocks were created some 2.5 billion years ago, before there was oxygen in Earth's atmosphere and oceans. To understand how rocks like these formed, researchers like Chemtob have to approach the ancient formations from a variety of fields.

My guest this week is Donald Prothero, Professor of Geology at Occidental College, and Lecturer in Geobiology at the California Institute of Technology. Don is a distinguished academic; a Fellow of the Geological Society of America and the Paleontological Society, he has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Science Foundation. Don contributes to the SkepticBlog and he has been featured on several television documentaries, including episodes of Prehistoric Monsters Revealed and Walking with Prehistoric Beasts. He has edited and written numerous scientific papers, textbooks and books, including Evolution of the Earth, Evolution: What the Fossils Say and Why It Matters, and his most recent title, Catastrophes!: Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Tornadoes, and Other Earth-Shattering Disasters. In this episode of Point of Inquiry, Karen Stollznow speaks with Don about one of his pet interests, cryptozoology and the psychology of cryptozoologists. He answers the questions, why do people believe in monsters and what do they believe? Is cryptozoology all pseudoscience or are any scientists involved in the field? What would allow cryptozoology to be taken seriously as a true science? They discuss the language, culture and characters of the "cryptozoological subculture". Lastly, Don reveals why creationists are now exploring cryptozoology, and the reasons why we shouldn't dismiss the study as an "innocent hobby".
