In today's truly inspirational story, I sat down with Tiphany Kane—CEO of KaSa Media Productions and host of the Raise Your Volume Academy podcast—to uncover her answer. But would she be able to pick up the pieces, discover her authentic self, and uplift the voices of other women? Here's how Tiphany overcame fear, left everything she knew behind, and started her life anew on her own terms. Feeling inspired? Barbie Movie Spoiler Alert...I will be talking about the Barbie movie today! If you have not seen it yet- go see it! Today we are discussing a part of the Barbie movie that not many people are talking about...Barbie's friend Midge...the pregnant Midge.Midge has come and gone in the Barbie franchise many times since she was introduced in the mid-60's. But it was the pregnant version of Midge that was so controversial. Pregnant Midge was introduced in 2002 as part of the "Happy Family" series with Alan and their son Ryan...and Midge almost immediately created such an uproar that the doll was discontinued that same year. Why the uproar? The overwhelming argument was that a pregnant Midge would encourage & glorify pregnancy....what????? Society is perfectly ok with children playing with baby dolls and pretending to be parents...but not ok with playing with an actual mother. The irony!Support the showI want to hear from you!Support & Subscribe- your support helps me to keep making this podcast! How do you feel about politics? How do you feel about advocating for your political views? This is a tough, vulnerable topic for me! I was raised in a "high-control religion" (aka: a cult) and was taught from infancy that I was "separate from the world" and was not allowed to have any political opinions or affiliations. I was not even allowed to say the Pledge of Allegiance. I was 20 before I said the Pledge for the first time!!!Now I am in a place and time where I can be more politically active...and it is both exciting and scary for me. What about you? Tiphany has certainly made up for lost time, creating her own company, KaSa Media Productions which allows her to bring her passion for the art of the spoken word to people who need help finding their voice. "You are just too passionate." were the words she heard from a supervisor explaining why she was not selected for a promotion she was qualified for. Although these words stung, they were the words she needed to hear to make the necessary career change that would take her down a much more purpose-filled path. At age 49 she says: "Life is just beginning for me! I am lit up with creativity, options, ideas, and possibility." And she wants you to know if your brightness is being dulled, know that it is never too late to find your passion and purpose. Have you ever felt lost in the fog- you can't see even 5 feet in front of you and you feel a lone in the world and unsure of your path? This is exactly what I experienced in real life on an outing for my 49th birthday. We were in Charleston, South Carolina on a ferry boat out to tour Fort Sumpter. The morning was cold, drizzly, and very, very foggy. Our ferry boat was completely socked in and at one point had ZERO visibility. It felt like we were the only boat on the harbor. On the ferry ride back to Charleston from Fort sumpter, the sun was shining, the fog had lifted...and all around us were incredible sights. We could see HUGE boats in the harbor all around us. We could see the beautiful city skyline. We could see the massive suspension bridge that went across the harbor. None of these were visible just a few short hours ago when the fog blocked our vision. This struck me as a beautiful metaphor for life. So many times we feel lost and alone. We feel like we are in a vast ocean and cannot see 5 feet in front of us. And yet....all around us there are people and opportunities just waiting for the fog to lift.I want to hear from you!:DM me on IG @tiphanykaneCheck out my website: www.tiphanykane.comLeave Tiphany a Voice Message to have a spotlight on the podcastProduced & Edited by: KaSa Media Productions
What do 22 hours, political activism, and smashing the patriarchy have in common? They are all related to why I have so many issues with self-care and I am guessing you have similar issues as well. I went to get a massage yesterday at the massage therapy place that I have a membership with. I pay monthly for a massage and yet I very rarely actually go to get one! Wait...whaaat?You heard me right- I do not have a problem paying for the service but I do have a problem taking the time to actually go and get a massage. For some reason the time feels like a luxury that my brain is telling me I do not deserve. Do you have similar internal messages that you are working through?I know the root of these issues is me being raised in a very strict, very patriarchal, cult-like religion. From infancy, I was told that being a female meant I was less valuable than the men around me. I was subservient to them. They were the leaders and I was the follower because of my gender. These are deeply ingrained messages that are so challenging to overcome.I am excited to dive into these topics and the social activism topics that are near and dear to my heart. 2023 is going to see this podcast spend time on tough issues and conversations with inspiring women & female-identifying people that live with radical audacity.I would love to hear from you!I want to hear from you!:DM me on IG @tiphanykaneCheck out my website: www.tiphanykane.comLeave Tiphany a Voice Message to have a spotlight on the podcastProduced & Edited by: KaSa Media Productions
What did 2022 look like for you? It was a year of massive change, growth, heartache, and joy for me. January was the rebrand of this podcast from Love & Life After Divorce to Radical Audacity in Love & Life. Listen to the trailer.I also Found out that I needed to have a hysterectomy on the same day I found out that my ex-father-in-law, my children's grandfather, passed away. It was a day of deep, dark emotions. Listen to Death & a Hysterectomy episode here.In March I had my hysterectomy and other than some complications- it was the first time I had 8 weeks to devote to being creative with this podcast and dive into my KaSa Media business.I published the 100th episode of this podcast with none other than THE BB Easton as my guest! BB Easton is the author of Sex/Life: 44 Chapters about 4 men- a book that got turned into the popular, very steamy Netflix series: Sex/Life. She had been a public school employee and self-published her novel....a few years later her novel got turned into a Netflix series and she published half a dozen other books. She is so darn inspiring! Listen to BB Easton's Interview here.June was the start of my new life!!! I officially quit my 20 year carer in public education and began to be the full-time CEO of KaSa Media Productions! It was thrilling and terrifying at the same time! Listen to that episode here.In August Radical Audacity officially turned 1 year old!! One year of podcasting and look what changed....I started a new business, quit my day job, have collaborated with incredible people I admire, spoke on the Keynote stage at Podfest Expo and landed a TED talk! Celebrating milestones together is so important! Listen to that episode here.My crowning accomplishment this year was coordinating and hosting my first virtual summit! It was an event that came with incredible disappointment and incredible satisfaction! We began a movement of stepping into our power and our confidence as female leaders! The holidays often bring up the pain of family relationships that we are often able to keep at bay during the rest of the year. How do you navigate the holidays and family time when you have close family members that are unhealthy for your emotional, mental and even physical well-being?I had to have a difficult conversation with my children this week about why they have not seen my mother, their grandmother, since they were very little. It is a sad story of me being rejected by my mother over religious issues. At one point I had to take a stand, which is a radically audacious move, to protect my children and myself.I would love to hear from you. What painful family situations are you navigating over the holidays? What powerful, radically audacious decisions did you make to protect yourself and your children from the mental, emotional and physical damage that these relationship often bring. Today I was on a walk on a trail I used to walk all the time when my children were little. On the trail is a tunnel that goes under a bridge. My children used to love to go into that grey, drab, corrugated tunnel and dance and yell to hear the echo of their voices...but it always felt a little bit scary to me.As I approached the tunnel today, I noticed something different. I noticed that artists had begun to transform the tunnel from grey and drab to a technicolor work of art. This tunnel is now a place that is vibrant, joyful, and overflowing with colorful creativity. The artists were there working on finishing the base painting and adding the patterns and images that would finish the transformation. It made me think of us as women. It is the perfect metaphor for how we often feel like we are stuck in a colorless, thankless life. We are always doing, doing, doing for others and that makes us feel sad, burned out, exhausted...colorless. Yet, small acts (Like the simple act of painting the tunnel) can bring about a beautiful, technicolor life.Be sure to check out the pictures on my instagram page! @tiphanykaneOther episodes you will enjoy:My Realization about the Radical Audacity of Self-CareRaise Your Volume So Your Voice Can Be HeardDetours on the Road Less TraveledContact Tiphany:DM me on IG @tiphanykaneCheck out my website: www.tiphanykane.comLeave Tiphany a Voice Message to have a spotlight on the podcastProduced & Edited by: KaSa Media Productions

Self-care is a radically audacious act for me. having been raised in an extremely patriarchal religion, self- sacrifice was the expectation. It was ungodly to care too much for yourself. Spending time on a self-care routine rather than a faith routine was seen as self-indulgent. I was also taught that my body was something to be ashamed of as a woman. These messages are so challenging to unlearn. I am now on a journey to unlearn the harmful messages of my past an to embark on a journey of loving the body I am in. Big disappointment often brings big emotions with it. Often these emotions do not feel very comfortable or good. They can feel painful, dark, and sad. I recently had an experience where something I had worked very hard for ended up bringing about a big disappointment. My initial reactions were:feelings of deep, bone-weary sadnessfeelings anger and righteous indignationfeelings of "why am I not good enough for this person?"feelings of embarrassmentfeelings of worrying that I let my collaborators downmassive feelings of confusion & frustrationTheses are all very normal human feelings. And it is good to acknowledge those feelings and understand their origins. This episode explores the origin of those feelings and how we can take the next steps to moving through the disappointment. Today David & I sat down to batch record several podcast episodes and as soon as we started recording the following things happened: The community gardeners decided to trim the bushes right outside the window with very loud power tools The next door neighbors had workers on their balcony with jackhammers! The trash truck came by to collect trash We quickly realized that all of our recording plans were now up in flames. Thankfully, David had gear to be able to record remotely. he gathered all the gear together and we walked down to the lake to record in the sunshine. Our gear: Zoom F8N Field Recorder Shure beta57a supercardioid Neumann KMS-105 supercardioid Thank you to Focusrite for sponsoring this podcast. Building a brand around your podcast that makes people feel seen, heard, and that they identify with is important. People want to be a part of the community you are creating. What do you have to say?” Barrier- breakthrough knowing that her words are important and she can make a differenceJust do it! Have people around you- mentors, coaches, friends to support and let you know that what you are saying is importantBri did a podcast episode alone where she spoke from her heart and shared a message that made an impact for her. Downloads can be useful data point metrics for analyzing, reflecting, and applying what you have learned to improve your podcast. Here are ways podcasters tell us they use download data... The top answer in the poll we created was: Downloads tell me how engaged my listeners are Other feedback we received: Analyzes downloads to see when listenership falls off. The Podcast host can see what is working for the podcast audience and what isn't working. Listens on each episode help to better understand what content is preferred by listeners and then create more content around those popular topics. Determine if your show is continually expanding reach, and providing content that resonates with the people listening. Downloads can also be a terrific data point to let you know if your growth strategies are making an impact or not. Word of caution: downloads should be one measure of this but not the only measure! If you have worked to create an engaged community- additional metrics can be feedback from listeners, survey data, reviews, direct messages from listeners… these data points can tell you more than just download numbers alone. Downloads numbers can be fickle- we saw our downloads significantly drop during a two-week period in the holidays. This drop had nothing to do with the quality of our shows and more to do with the seasonal busyness of our listeners. _________________________ David & Tiph's Mic: Earthworks Icon USB Thank you Earthworks Audio for sponsoring our podcast __________________________ Join us at Podfest Expo! If you have worked to create an engaged community- additional metrics can be feedback from listeners, survey data, reviews, direct messages from listeners… these data points can tell you more than just download numbers alone.Downloads numbers can be fickle- we saw our downloads significantly drop during a two-week period in the holidays. This drop had nothing to do with the quality of our shows and more to do with the seasonal busyness of our listeners._________________________David & Tiph's Mic: Earthworks Icon USBThank you Earthworks Audio for sponsoring our podcast__________________________Join us at Podfest Expo!
