Few brands impress me the way Kizik has when it comes to everyday innovation that people can use in their daily lives. In this episode, I sit down with Elizabeth Drori, the Chief Marketing Officer leading the charge at Kizik, the brand redefining how we think about footwear. These aren't just shoes; they're hands-free, high-tech, and built for real life.  Whether you're a parent juggling kids, an athlete on the go, or someone seeking comfort and ease, Kizik is changing the game. And yes, I've worn the same pair for four years — that's how good they are. Elizabeth shares the evolution of Kizik — from early tech innovation to a growing global brand — and how they're making shoes that are stylish, comfortable, and built to move with you. We dive into marketing strategy, inclusive design, and why hands-free isn't just a feature, it's the future. Here are just a few highlights: * How Kizik is disrupting the footwear industry with hands-free technology   * Why their “no-sacrifice” approach balances performance, comfort, and design  * Scaling from DTC to retail with stores, Amazon, and international launches  * The role of inclusivity and lifestyle in their expanding product line  * Marketing to parents, athletes, older adults, and everyone in between Join me, Ramon Vela, in listening to the episode and discovering why hands-free might be the only way forward regarding shoes. Mark Carpenter is a serial storyteller and co-author of the best-selling book Master Storytelling. Mark shared how you can be more intentional as you tell stories in your work building brands, inspiring teams, and leading in both work and life. Master storytelling by listening to Mark this week on the On Brand podcast. About Mark Carpenter Mark Carpenter is a serial storyteller. Even as a child, he loved to tell stories (mainly to get attention). He leveraged that ability into a career in marketing communications and public relations, then as a college professor and corporate facilitator. Now, he teaches people how to more intentionally tell stories that teach, lead, sell, and inspire to accomplish business and personal goals. He is the co-author of the best-selling book Master Storytelling: How to Turn Your Experiences Into Stories that Teach, Lead, and Inspire and co-creator of the Master Storytelling Workshop. Leveraging a 20-year career in corporate communication, 10 years working as an adjunct professor of communication, and 15 years facilitating training, Mark couples a lively, engaging style with purposeful, impactful learning. When he's not training, speaking, coaching, or creating new content, Mark is likely hiking or snowshoeing in the mountains near his home in Utah, playing the piano, bragging about his grandchildren, or writing children's books. Episode Highlights “Building a brand isn't like putting money in a slot machine,” Mark joked. Like storytelling, it requires intentionality. “You have to look for the experiences.” How can you find stories? Mark advises us to, “Look for anything that creates an emotional reaction.” Stories are built around emotion and help produce emotion as they're shared over and over again. As brands, we need to encourage our people to look for these moments of customer emotion around the brand. “Sharing experiences requires vulnerability,” Mark noted. It takes a lot as a brand and as a leader to stand up and say, “This is who we are.” Leading with story. “You'll be seen as a stronger leader if you connect through story,” Mark shared. “You need to connect the information to your people. Make it real for them. That's the job of a leader.” What brand has made Mark smile recently? Mark came prepared for this question! He shared another brand that made him smile earlier in the interview, Second Chance Academy. However, his big smile came from his hometown favorite, Kizik shoes, which Mark wears everywhere. I just flew home from across the country today. It was brilliant marketing and specific targeting of people who may think about buying their product for the future (taking off your shoes for airport security is a hassle). This was just the perfect example of having your marketing dollars work smarter for you.Monte Deere is the CEO of Kizik, and I had the opportunity to sit down and talk a little bit about Kizik as a whole, and his own personal journey. A product that you can get behind and people believe in is number one.You sometimes have to redefine the things that are already there for a long time to drive sales. You can have several hooks from a long-form video and test different elements of the video to determine which are performing well. You have to have that kind of belief that you can drive demand and build it.What's working in short-form videos is authentic UGC. Going against what everyone is doing and looking at unique ways where you can break through the noise are the best ways to scale.Leverage the creatives you have and make the most of them.Recommended App:Figma https://www.figma.com Recommended Podcast:E-commerce Secrets Podcasthttps://podcasts.apple.com/ph/podcast/e-commerce-secrets-to-scale/id1532975989Out Alive Podcasthttps://www.backpacker.com/survival/out-alive-podcast/ Today's Guest:Brett Swensen is the VP of Marketing at Kizik. Levi has a fascinating story.  Because of his vulnerability.  By all measure, Levi is a successful entrepreneur.  He has founded various businesses, scaled and hired employees, and put a dent in the world.  But due to various drama in business, Levi experienced severe burnout.  He had panic attacks, an overactive mind, inability to stay present, etc.  After some inner battles, his wife declared that she just wanted her husband back.  That hit him like a ton of bricks.  He recognized that the worldly success he was chasing just didn't matter.  He openly started discussing his burn out on social media platforms, and truthfully, got flack from other entrepreneurs.  But he kept being vulnerable and open.  He learned how important mental health was for well being.  Levi continues to do business, but is very mindful about how much he tries to take on.  He spends much more time with his family, creating awesome memories with them.  It was awesome talking to him about these struggles on this podcast.  Hope you enjoy!
